Nice to know this game now has a digital release! Another game to add to my growing pick up list! Visually this game gives off crazy Blazing Star & Pulstar vibes with the prerendered 3D graphics. Almost makes me think I'm gonna hear "BONUS" hahaha
Great video and thanks for the shoutout! I agree with most of your points. About the bosses, they could've (should've) got rid of some reused patterns, and with the beam they're kind of easy, BUT they give a x2 bonus if you kill them without using beams, so there's that (and a penalty in your multiplier if you use more than 3 iirc) And here 12:04 in this battle you can actually stay at the bottom and the orange bullets will bounce above you and won't hit you.
Thanks for the video and playthrough! I’m just playing it myself and am having a great time doing so. Fun game, I hope they sell a lot and keep up the good work.
Cool video, in just starting to get into playing shmups, and your commentary is really helpful mate. Nice one. I like that you mentioned Junkie too, he's a nutter but proper funny. He knows his stuff too, like yourself
Nice clear! To answer some of the questions from the video: Bouncing bullets - DaiOuJou stage 5 boss is a pretty infamous example. You'll learn to love them. :) Holding rapid/focus defaults to rapid - also see Cyvern the Dragon Weapons arcade. Although that game is from 1998, so the standard wasn't yet set in stone. I still hope that gets a home port as some time, as this is the sort of thing that could likely get tweaked.
Funny observation on bouncing bullets in Western made shmups. I'm inclined to think the much beloved Progear and it's oddly moving bullets are a major inspiration for it.
I missed on pre ordering this. Awesome impression/review. Good to know your still making STG videos. I got really burnt out and needed break... but it's good to be back. Getting a horizontal Mars Matrix vibe from this gem.
Awesome playing. Looks real intense. After seeing your playthrough I will definately download this. Do you prefer a stick to a pad for these types of games? Ive always been a pad player but have been experimenting with sticks for shooters more recently. I have a Hori RAP4 stick I used when I cleared Gun.Smoke for arcade but recently I modded another base and put a Semitsu 62 stick in that one. It has a little more tension and less deadzone. It feels like it might be better for those micro adjustments. Any stick prefferences? What benefits do you notice over a pad?
He could have been a beta tester all the way back for the neo geo version, I get the feeling he was so these issues could have been different back then :-)
Another game that has the layering problem with enemy bullets being covered up by the player's shots is the Cotton Reboot. The first patch he needs to do is to fix the problem of this game not being on PS4 or Steam.
I get the impression there was an intent to discourage ABS (Always Be Shooting) at some point in the design that didn't fully take shape in the final product. Player shot visual priority, enemy skipping and a weapon system with a bursty rhythm all lend themselves -- in a vestigial sort of way -- to the idea of a shmup where you're expected to strategically let off the fire button. Dunno, just a bit of speculative design archeology there.
I don’t like the approach they had initially creating fake scarcity just to get the collectors to buy the game. It looks like it was just their marketing strategy to get some attention, makes me remember the episode of south park when cartman buys a theme park but he doesn’t allow anyone in. Maybe I’m wrong and their business wouldn’t exist at all without that approach, but it doesn’t look good to me. The game looks good though but nothing outstanding. I’ll pass on this one.
Found this through NG Dev's Twitter. Apart from your skill, you have a great demeanor and are very likable! Subbed!
Oh that s really cool they tweeted about my vid! Thanks for tuning in ❤️

Glad the video has been helpful! Yeah junkie is a cool dude, his channel is growing like crazy!
Thanks for the playthrough and letting us know it's on the eShop now. I bought it immediately
Awesome!! Yeah it turned out to be a fun clear!
Enjoying your analysis!
Glad to hear it! I found there was quiet a bit to talk about with the game, which is always a good sign :-)
Nice clear!

You're holding the mic. At last! 🎤🖤
I saw the demand in the comments and brought it back :-)

Hey my dude! Yes still shmupping :-) those cubes def do remind me Mars matrix ha
@@TheElectricUnderground I went into the STG chat, you still there?
is Jamestown what you'd call an Euro Shmup?
I haven't played Jamestown so luckily I don t have an assessment on the game :-)
@@TheElectricUnderground well it has all those problems you mentioned and it sucks so I guess yeah lol
Jamestown catches a lot of flack but I don’t think it qualifies as a Euroshmup. It feels much more inspired by contemporary Danmakus.
"NOT TOO CHALLENGING AT ALL" - Shirt Label .
Ha that does seem to be a growing catch phrase of mine

Oh yes I do prefer stick ! I have a whole vid about it :-) ua-cam.com/video/gWyMdK3813E/v-deo.html
@@TheElectricUnderground Very nice. The topic really interests me. Been getting into sticks lately. Gonna check that out now.
I see that Plasmo was a beta tester? Weird that he didnt catch the omissions you mention in the beginning
He could have been a beta tester all the way back for the neo geo version, I get the feeling he was so these issues could have been different back then :-)
Did you buy this in the eShop?
Yes!

Ha yeah I would like a PC version for sure!

yeah I think you are on to something there, I could see something like that happening ha.
Believe in the underground, become the underground ;-)
awesome video!
Thank you my dude!
!!HOLY CRAP!?!
*....sold
Nice!!
Enjoy playing it physically 😜on the Neo Geo AES 😎
Oh that's really cool!
Bought it in 2014 😉
Maybe you were looking for "quintessential" or "archetypical" for positive conotation. "Traditonal" for neutral. And "prototypical" for negative.
This is better on Neo Geo better than the Nintendo switch much louder better more powerful on the Neo geo 🕹🎮😀👍🏾
dude, you look (and kinda sound) exactly like Trey Parker.
ha that's great, though truth be told I hope I am a bit more handsome then he is ;-)
❤️

Oh I made a vid about this a while back! ua-cam.com/video/YbKi60sKwiY/v-deo.html
