People used to call me the "The King of Campbells", the "Warhol Warrior", the "Condensed Captain" but ProZD has truly one upped me here. I think there is a new Campbells Champ in town.
Back in the day, home cooked vegetable soup was generally made with beef stock, or even pieces of beef in it as a way to bulk out meat supplies or get rid of beef that was tough ot the best for just eating. Now I think most people call it "vegetable beef" soup to avoid confusion, not sure why Campbell's hasn't caught on to that yet
My favourite thing is watching him do that little "pleasantly surprised food critic face" when he's doing this over canned soup. Our mans is the sommelier of salt. The connoisseur of cans
"I lost footage of one of the soups" is something I want to engrave on a gold-anodized aluminium plaque and send into space. And "I'm a family, a family of one" should be a on a shirt.
had the misfortune of eating the bean with bacon a little while ago, and it is MUCH improved by a teaspoon of tomato paste, onion powder, and some crushed garlic and letting it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
I love when he enjoys food, watching him enjoy the cream of chicken with herbs was incredibly comforting. Gonna add that to my next chicken pot pie. I adore his reviews of broth.
I'm getting jaw surgery in a month and will be on a liquid diet for a while so this video was pretty useful, gonna look for that cream of chicken with herbs.
I think he works on multiple "trying every product" videos at once, because in one of the clips from his Taco Bell video there was a ton of Cheerios boxes in the back. It's a pretty good idea actually, if he's spreading out the products and just eating one or two per day you might as well use other days for different products to get more variety
What I learned: The ideal ProZD Campbell's soup would be Slow Kettle Creamy Tomato with Chicken & Roasted Parmesan. A combination of all the things that seem to be liked most.
I'm really glad you gave the chunky gumbo an A+. That's one of the soups I live on. Sometimes I'll mix a can of that and the Jambalaya together, and add black pepper and other stuff. Always satisfying. And, their wonton used to be pretty good, but it's suffered over the years. The wontons were still mini, but they were bigger than they are now. It had chicken and greens. Not like restaurant quality with giant wontons, but still used to be decent. Also, if anyone is a bit older, they might recall some crazy soups Campbell's used to have. Two I remember were cream of shrimp (which was orange and gross), and "pepper pot" which used to have beef tripe, and other odds and ends in it. Yum lol. Also bring back beef noodle.... Ugh! I can't find a canned beef noodle soup anywhere. I love soup. I ate it growing up. I still eat it now. I buy it canned, and I make it myself all the time. If anyone remembers some old soups they loved (like Mrs. Grass, other campbell's, etc.. Please post them....
My best friend growing up was obsessed with the pepper pot soup. I lived next-door and ate there all the time, but I somehow never tried that damn soup because she and her brother were quite guarded and greedy about it. They would yell at each other over eating the last can. Good times. :,)
@@endogladry That’s hilarious. But you weren’t missing too much. Pepper pot wasn’t anything too special. It probably wouldn’t fly nowadays with the tripe and other leftovers it contained.
I admire your heroic sacrifice. There was a time when I ate a bowl of Campbell's Chicken & Rice Soup, a bag of saltine crackers and a Coke almost every day for lunch. Still the only Campbell's I like is Chicken & Rice and The Beef & Barley.
I just wanna say thank you for not hurting yourself for content, you can't imagine my RELIEF when I saw you in a different shirt like yes pls I want your honest reaction to these soups but not in one sitting 😂😂

Man, I’m remembering how growing up I used to like the Cream of Chicken, and as a teen, I cooked with the Cream of Potato as a base for a great, herby soup that I need to make again. I also agree that the tomato soup is fantastic, and I love adding herbs from my garden, pasta, and Italian sausage to it to make it hearty and delicious.
I’d like to think that instead of wasting the soups they were all tossed into a giant cauldron forming a super soup sitting in the fridge. Or alternatively the fridge has 59 saucers of soup littering the refrigerator shelves.
He has like 20 shirt changes throughout the video.... so unless he was constantly spilling all over himself, I think this was filmed over a month. Or maybe all in one sitting and he was shame changing
I think we need to take a moment and appreciate that the man tried 59 freakin canned soups. He does a lot for us. Also, would love to see you try all Top Ramens
Sunwong: Amazing anime content with the voice of a Norse god with an extremely threatening aura. Also Sunwong: The most comprehensive Campbell's soup review video in the history of mankind.
The fact that this video took him 6 months to make shows how much effort and time he puts in these eating videos I imagine if he did this all in one sitting he would die 😂
I'm going to be honest, using the tomato soup in a cake, called a tomato soup cake; you're going to think I'm a madman, but it really does taste like chocolate. Also, my mom collected all the Campbell's Soup Christmas Ornaments so weirdly Campbell's Soup makes me think of Christmas.
There are two classic tomato soup cake recipes; one that's a spice cake (similar to applesauce or pumpkin cake) with cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and sometimes raisins, usually served with cream cheese frosting or a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and a chocolate tomato cake that uses the tomato soup for moisture rather than flavor (which comes from cocoa or melted chocolate, you really can't taste the tomato).
When we got Covid early in the pandemic, the chicken noodle soup was the only thing I could even SLIGHTLY taste. I mean, I could eat a raw onion and feel and smell nothing. Chicken noodle soup was like this beautiful light in this immense sea of darkness. And all I could taste was salt… but damn was it the tastiest salt soup I ever had.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned, but Campbell's is notorious for making their "vegetarian" soups not vegetarian. Like the broccoli cheese and cream of mushroom, it has "natural flavors" which includes chicken.
I think it's more that it follows an older version of vegetarian, which is just don't eat meat so less strict, so broths and soups were okay. Then over time what people consider vegetarian became stricter
I think Campbell's Soup is pretty underrated! A lot of it is good on its own, and they make a wonderful base for more elaborate sauces and soups and casseroles and stuff.
I buy canned soups regularly and am still clueless on which flavors are actually decent because there are so damn many and they all sound exactly the same. So this review was actually quite helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
Honestly, this just made me want soup. I ended up having a can of chicken noodle that I got when I was sick, and ate it along with you detailing your soup journey.
The Chunky line is a lifesaver for days when I absolutely need a small blood sugar boost and have no energy to cook. The cream-of-x stuff is great to cook rice in, or mix it in with minimal water after cooking. Always makes the rice pop.
Cream of chicken + white rice was a quick meal that got me through childhood, college, grad school, and to this day gives me a decent option if I'm too tired to cook after work. I call it chicken goop and it rules
I often do this with tinned tomatoes, measure out the water in a measuring jug then pour into the tin and swirl. It makes sense to do that with the soups too 🤔
I know you were committed to rating them as they come straight from the can, but in my opinion adding some black pepper to the New England clam chowder or the chicken corn chowder brings those up to an A+. Those two and the chicken & sausage gumbo are the three I always stock up on when the ShopRite does their seasonal sale on all things canned.

I think I can probably count on one hand the number of Campbell's soups I've eaten straight up instead of as a component of casseroles or crockpot meals! Tomato is the only one I eat semi-regularly. Thank you for your sacrifice to let us know how they hold up on their own! I'd probably lose my mind if I tried that many different canned soups 😆

Back in the day, home cooked vegetable soup was generally made with beef stock, or even pieces of beef in it as a way to bulk out meat supplies or get rid of beef that was tough
ot the best for just eating. Now I think most people call it "vegetable beef" soup to avoid confusion, not sure why Campbell's hasn't caught on to that yet

I mean, 60 soups over 6 months is 10 soups a month
Not terribly hard work, but certainly terribly smart work
I'm going to be honest, using the tomato soup in a cake, called a tomato soup cake; you're going to think I'm a madman, but it really does taste like chocolate. Also, my mom collected all the Campbell's Soup Christmas Ornaments so weirdly Campbell's Soup makes me think of Christmas.
Tinned tomato soup doesn't taste like tomatoes to me anyway, it just tastes good, so I can imagine this isn't bad either.
Using cornbread mix as the base for a tomato soup cake sounds like a good holiday food.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned, but Campbell's is notorious for making their "vegetarian" soups not vegetarian. Like the broccoli cheese and cream of mushroom, it has "natural flavors" which includes chicken.
Well that's rather shitty of them
I think it's more that it follows an older version of vegetarian, which is just don't eat meat so less strict, so broths and soups were okay.

You can use the cans to measure the water and get the extra condensed soup out of the can.
I often do this with tinned tomatoes, measure out the water in a measuring jug then pour into the tin and swirl. It makes sense to do that with the soups too 🤔
The deadpanned "This took six months" 30 minutes in completely destroyed me

I know you were committed to rating them as they come straight from the can, but in my opinion adding some black pepper to the New England clam chowder or the chicken corn chowder brings those up to an A+. Those two and the chicken & sausage gumbo are the three I always stock up on when the ShopRite does their seasonal sale on all things canned.
