1989 AE92 Toyota Corolla - FREEZING Cold Start

Did a cold start on my 1989 AE92 Toyota Corolla. It's nearly entirely stock with the carbureted 4A-F engine. Only major mods are 7AFE headers, emissions & catalytic converter delete, and vacuum system simplification & rerouting.

Same with mine. The coldest start was at -18C (0F). Just two pumps to engage the auto choke and prime it, and it started. Mine still has the original carb preheat system that yours was missing so it idles fine after the start.

huh didn’t know they had that kind of ignition beep, every one i ever seen and the one i own has more of a chime, swear i always learn something new about these cars 😂

The startup in the video was the first startup for the car after about 2 weeks of no use, since the donut spare hindered the way it drives so terribly. Whether it's been 3 days or 3 weeks, the car always starts up like it does in the vid and it's pretty great!

Why don't you clean the carb urself, when i owned this car i cleaned the carb myself it's easy.... Use some carb cleaner or u can take off the cover of the carb block off the carb opening with ur hand and rev the engine several times it will clear the gunk.
