Absolutely true. I have a 2.0 GLi Station wagon from 1993. My dad bought it new back then and I heired it from him. I can't recall a single failure ever, except maybe a flat tyre. Just had my mechanic do a big service recently and now it is again certified street legal by the Zürcher Strassenverkehrsamt. (I live in Switzerland.) 238'000 km and going!

i'm amazed, this good old Toyota start and run as it was parked yesterday. did you put some fresh gas into the tank or did it run on gas from 2016? your vid (congrats for your vids btw =) ) confirmed my opinion that the cars from the 1990's the best ever were built: good rustprotection, few electronic, reliable mechanic and materials = straight cars to carry people over thousands of Kilometers. the most reliable car i was driven so far in my life was an 1997 Opel Astra-F Caravan (=Stationwagen) with the X18XE-Engine and automatic gearbox. i got it in spring 2007, it survived till 2015, more than 384 thousand Kilometers, most of them on german Autobahn with high speed, 4 crashes during its life, 2 blown headgaskets, and it went on and on and on ^_^

I had a uncle with a Toyota Carina. He went to holiday for over 6 months, I disconnected the battery then when he come back connected it and it fired up like it was never parked. They can last forever with abuse aswell alot of taxi drivers have them. They are true bulletproof engines. I believe the start of Toyotas bulletproof era along with the corolla.
7A-FE Leanburn one of the best engines Toyota ever built. Also make sure this car gets back on the road again sooner or later with a new clutch, and probably some fresh tires. But keep the original wheels please 👍❤️
I had a twenty years old Corolla that I brought used from original owner that has 2.8K miles with original tires. The owner was 89 years old guy and I paid to have it shipped to my home in CA. I still have this car and I don't want to get rid of it.
beautiful family vehicle you can see that the manufacturing is of very good quality I do not understand why its owner left it there when he abandoned it here in my country they do not throw away a single bicycle. here in my country I have seen and there is still a Toyota Corolla car but a family van I had never seen before, it is the first time I see it. 
They are Toyotas. Of course they are going to run! Amazing how many different models Toyota sold around the globe. In Canada we never got the Carina, and our Corollas looked nothing at all like the gold one. Wife drove a Tercel for 19 years then bought an FJ Cruiser. She will never sell that one!!!

Though to be honest, I think mid 90s to early 2000s were peak for reliability, performance, driver interaction, safety (relatively speaking) Before they got too heavy, too powerful, full of sensors for emissions control,
What are you going to do with this nice both Toyota? It seems that no of them has Body Rost, I mean the bottom of the body also outside looks in great shape! I used to own nearly the same Carina E with same color and same grade, but it was the 2.0 Liter engine 3SFE installed with Automatic Transmission. I had never an issue with this car, it drove me all over the way until I sold it to another guy, because I like to drive a manual gearbox, that means I bought the newer model Avensis Mk1 2.0 3SFE... I really miss the Carina E, because the room space and comfort was much better than on the Avensis Mk1...now I see this Video and nearly find my old good releable Carina E !
