I remember having The Wall on cassettte and at the end of this song there was a gun shot from what i've been told by others that had the same version is that this was rare to hear....i dont know wish had still had it
My interpretation was that this song isn't about suicide. It's about "Pink," or Syd Barrett's spiral into insanity, putting up a Wall between himself and society. As for those contemplating suicide, it's never the answer. There are people who care and people who will miss you. It's not courageous, it's cowardly, and it leaves survivors hurt and angry. Help is out there, and no matter what you think now, it gets better.
Thats exactly right. its the seperation of himself with reality, with the real world, and NOT about topping himself. But there are those who do see it as a suicide song, and this is NOT what it was meant to mean!
@PieKlan cant wait for the tour to hit europe, im having to travel to holland to see it, couldnt get a ticket in the UK gonna be so good sampling some of the local homegrown while listening to the wall in concert
The end is very genious. Because you think he is going to say goodbye like 3x again but after 1x the music and everything just stops..And the brick fills in. pretty scary.
all these videos of pink floyd live the wallare on is there abody out there the cd live .but the video is taped at a diffrent time . just at the last solo on comtrbly numb. just watch......
How could you say that Zeppelin and The Doors suck!? Sure, Pink Floyd is my favorite band, but c'mon, those bands rule too! Jimmy Page is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and Jim Morrison's voice is awesome.
@mostlyanthony James Guthrie, the engineer for the Wall, has probably the most accurate account what happened. Wright was skipping sessions and snorting WAY to much cocaine. Gilmore agreed that Wright was not helping. The whole Waters to hard to work with crap doesnt hold Water. He was trying to finish the album. James Guthrie has said......... he felt the other members were not angry at Waters for being a dictator,,,,,, but angry that he still had a work ethic.
THIS IS THE SADDEST SONG EVER RECORDED. THEY SHOULD HAVE MADEIT LONGER WHEN THEY WROTE IT.VERY INTENSE AND MALENCOLY THIS SONG COULD REDUCE THE TOUGHEST AND MASCULINE OF MEN TO TEARS.
@mostlyanthony Look, I am and allways will be a BIG Floyd fan. I have respect for ALL the members and Gilmore is one of my favorite guitar players. Being in a band myself for many years I know how complex egos and creativity can get. You can get God himself to say so and I wouldnt care. Waters is and always will be the key component to post Syd, Floyd. Without Roger, they make albums like MLOR ....... enough said.
The only reason he spat at one of the fans is because the fan was high as a freakin airplane and was climbing on the stage. Thats still before they had i guess you could say "hit it big". When they were still singing Set the Controls for the heart of the Sun and stuff like that
@mostlyanthony Gilmour and Mason attempted to convince Waters to expand the show for a more lucrative, large-scale stadium tour, but because of the nature of the material (one of the primary themes is the distance between an artist and his audience) Waters balked at this. Yep your right, Gilmore and Mason wanted more Money to line their greedy pants but Waters refused to compromise the music for the sake of money. Sounds like Gilmore and Mason all right.
@mostlyanthony Look I dont argue the point that Waters is still touring and writing music. But to make money being the sole point behind it is just wrong. Gilmore made 81 million on the MLOR tour and he needed to use the Pink Floyd name to do that. Rick Wright........RIP even said he felt used by Gilmore just to win his court case against Roger. Ever wonder why Wrights picture isnt on the album? Wright wasnt fired by Waters on the Wall......Gilmore AND Waters decided to let him go.
Well that's where the idea for the album came from more. Waters alienated himself from his fans since they treated him like a god and he felt like one standing on a stage and watching them act retarded. But this album is about a man named 'Pink' isolating himself off from the pain of the world by building a wall everytimg something bad happens(dad dying in WWII, mom, school, wife) causing him to be shut off....not saying you're wrong since what you said is also true :-D
These guys are Brilliant!!! Genious (Sp?) i never give that compliment out... Led Zeppelin ... Meh... Back Ground Music The Door ... SUCK!! These guys are Brilliant...
@FcBarcaman1193 Not even close... you see the main difference is Pink Flyod doesnt suck...its not crappy hippie music... Gilmore or Page? Come On Really!?! The Doors suck too...
as he felt like a god, waters also felt himself to be superior than his audience, hence in the mid of a live show he spat a fan in the face.. then he started to feel the same ways as Pink in the sense that he was becoming isolated from the world
If i saw this live, i'd die.
I saw this live a few years ago...I'm wounded but still alive.
I remember having The Wall on cassettte and at the end of this song there was a gun shot from what i've been told by others that had the same version is that this was rare to hear....i dont know wish had still had it
This is what makes me keep myself on my feet everyday.
His voice really changed from live in Pompeii to the wall, drastically
not as much as david to AMLOR
David has the same perfect voice, maybe a little more rough but that's it
Still powerful.
Wade W
@@matiasalanis397 Waters' voice is perfect in its own way. I find it much more interesting than Gilmour's, actually.
that wall is amazing!
Holy crap. I only heard about this a few times...and that was back around 97. So, my head's spun.

Shame on you for calling it cowardly. You don't know what people go through and sometimes the pain is too much to handle
That is your opinion, chance like life...
yes
Bromodo...yes.
@PieKlan cant wait for the tour to hit europe, im having to travel to holland to see it, couldnt get a ticket in the UK
gonna be so good sampling some of the local homegrown while listening to the wall in concert

The song, the wall, everything still shocks me. I wish there were more powerful artist as Roger Waters and less comercial music.
i feel happy that roger's dreams came to life
It was some great concerts! :-)
R.I.P Rick goodbye... :( xx
The end is very genious.
Because you think he is going to say goodbye like 3x again but after 1x the music and everything just stops..And the brick fills in.
pretty scary.
Pink Floyd - Super
@PieKlan
I did, and saw wish you were here in 75, and roger waters the wall in 2010. 3 of my top all time concerts.
@73Shakes Even though it sounds suicidal it's more like Pink's final sendoff before he completely isolates himself from the rest of the world.
it was the montreal concert during the animals tour of 77, waters had tried to start pigs 3 times but the fans kept letting off fireworks and shouting
Love it. ♥
AWESOME
thanks man for upload this amazing concert!
legends
i want this album play at my funeral.
back then roger waters never thought the wall was going to be a big hit as it is
I wish i was there...

all these videos of pink floyd live the wallare on is there abody out there the cd live .but the video is taped at a diffrent time . just at the last solo on comtrbly numb. just watch......

@ThatCrazyRocker eargasm
Why they never release it in the market in DVD?

Until the Roger Waters The Wall tour.
Goodbye all you whistlers
@Norocmorth Yep, they actually all made a loss apart from Rick.

@FcBarcaman1193 Not even close... you see the main difference is Pink Flyod doesnt suck...its not crappy hippie music... Gilmore or Page? Come On Really!?! The Doors suck too...
Here's my cut at this one ... ua-cam.com/video/1lKdb_lZOZQ/v-deo.html
@Suavratman Zeppelin isn't crappy hippie music -.-
@Suavratman Calm down big Zeppelin are NOT backround music, so calm down , yes Pink FLoyd are awesome, but Zeppelin and floyd are in the same league
activate you tube
Yeah it is... I can proveit
Crappy + Hippie Music = Crappy Hippie Music
it probably costed shit loads
as he felt like a god, waters also felt himself to be superior than his audience, hence in the mid of a live show he spat a fan in the face.. then he started to feel the same ways as Pink in the sense that he was becoming isolated from the world
Goodbye.
