- This is our second Forester, and it's got some really neat custom touches in addition to a completely swapped drivetrain and big-power engine!

Now _THIS_ is how you do a Forester! Sure, it doesn't make a ton of horsepower, but the mods Jimmy has done are perfect. Really loving the looks of the car, inside and out. Plus that valvetronic exhaust is brilliant. Wonderful build!

Vegaspsycho OTS map was temporary from the get go. Was supposed to have a Flexfuel tune before filming but life got in the way. That's coming soon.

For what it's worth I've tested all manner of huge power cars in the last few years, and own a bunch of cars, and the fastest one makes "only" 400 wheel and I'm happy that way.
This would have to be one of the best modded Forester's I have seen, not over the top, just clean with great mods!
I love the sunroof in those. It's so massive! Its such a minor detail but it's so nice!

Just want to say:1. Matt, thank you for the videos throughout the week. I watch them on my lunch break every day. It's my zen moment...2. Very interesting car. I like the concept, though I would have a street adjustment and track adjustment for the suspension. It looks like it would be fast on a track, but real world it was struggling a bit.3. Great interior mods. I'm not usually an interior guy, but he has done a great job thus far.4. With the fog; easily one of the best drives, despite the foggy lens/windshield.5. In regards to people having problems with their cars when they bring them; I think every car guy/gal can relate to that. It never fails that when you are showing off your pride and joy, some previously perfectly functional thing will fail in an embarrassing way. Fact.Thanks again Matt!P.S. Come out to NE Oklahoma/North Central Arkansas sometime for some great roads!
Love my 08' FXT sports. I haven't done nearly the stuff this guy has done but it's such a fun car. A head turner for sure.
@TheSmokingTire you sir are a breath of fresh air regarding youtube videos and what you do for the car community. Wish us motorcycle guys had a clone for bikes. Gorgeous Forester! I love these so much! I've been seeing a handfull of STI swapped forester xt's in my area and all of them are super clean and gorgeous. Subaru owners honestly are one of the best modifying car enthusiasts. I want to build a STI swapped Forester XT soon! It's a Great all-around car for driving family and friends around, lots of cargo space, and you have plenty of horsepower to have fun and enjoy the ride from point A to B.
I was excited to see this since I love Sti swapped foresters. Happy to see the owner is as cool as the car.

As others have mentioned here in the comments, OTS tune with all of these mods... it's no wonder there was some hesitation. My main issue is with Varex Mufflers on Subarus in general. There's a reason that Aussie Subaru Tuners generally steer clear of those adjustable systems (I say Aussie, because Varex is an Australian brand. I.E. MCM's complete obsession with those exhausts). If you're not protuned for both exhaust configurations, you will risk motor issues... and generally most people who run these systems only tune their car to run one of the setting (quiet or open mode).
Otherwise.... man, this is an awesome Forester. Really my favorite year, and some great mods altogether. The ver 7 tranny is the choice mod, IMO. But the foglights behind the grill, is my favorite middle finger to the guys that run unimaginative/pointless Hella Horns in the same spot! Bravo and *thumbs up*
+BlueHokage Thank you for the complement. RE the Varex, I do not drive the car hard or go into boost at all when closed. I only close it for low speed neighborhood driving and highway low throttle cruising. At all other time it is open. The map is designed for a 3" downpipe with any 2.5" or greater catback which is what I have.

Tyler D. Congrats on the purchase! They truely are great cars for almost any type of driving scenario. The varex mufflers arent so bad that your EJ motor will blow instantly, it's just that if you aren't careful with modifications, you are certainly more susceptible to seeing issues.
Either way, I don't drive my Subaru like an idiot, and that's likely why it's still going strong at far over 240k miles (I save the maniac driving for my sportbike).

Awesome. I myself have an 06 forester xt with an AK2 engine built at Lachute performance quebec. Dynoed @ 348 Awhp 350 lbs/ft. Would love to have the STI drivetrain though.

I've got a xs and I've always wanted the xt. Ultimate family wagon. Or the outback sti swap. Pricey but worth every penny.

I swaped my 06 fxt with a 2004 sti stering rack the only problem i ran into was you cant use the stock lines because the threads are different but I just bought chase bays braided hoses for the same sti rack and worked perfectly.
