I am writing a paper on St. Nicholas, Equal to the Apostles, Enlightener of Japan. You should look into him! He came from Russia and spent about 50 years in Japan and brought over 30,000 Japanese to the Faith. He is an amazing man.
Isto sam pomislila. Inace, prisustvovala sam liturgiji u Hong Kongu na ruskom i kantonskom jeziku, pola - pola je liturgija bila. Nesto jako neobicno sto sam dozivjela.
I have been curious about something. This Christmas denomination is most prevalent in Eastern Europe, so "Christmas food" is inherently very region-specific. I know most Japanese eat KFC for Christmas, as for them it is not a religious day of worship, but rather a fun holiday. What do Japanese Orthodox believers who observe Christmas (and other similar holidays) eat for the day's feast?
@MenechemShaul I just see your post. Are you refering to why orthodox uses leven bread? IF so 2 reasons why. The first is that Christ bore our sins therefore the body of christ became sin for us. The other reason refers to the feasts of the lord. Christ fullfilled the feast of First fruits. Before this the jews would eat only unleavened bread. It was after first fruits would they eat levened bread. Hope this helps
Don't pay atention to trolls like him. I'm a catholic and i don't have any problem with orthodox people. We're the same, just slightly different points of view. I do use an orthodox cross pendant myself. It's not a problem.
I hope that you find peace, and blessings. Though if you are so offended, maybe the wiser course would be to avoid Orthodox media and literature. There is very little with meaning that can be accomplished through online evangilization. I would ask that you speak to us in person at least. Again I say as an Orthodox Christian, I hope that you find peace!
