I recently bought a C6 Z06 with 28K miles for $40K and I put $8000 in the motor all Texas speed parts. Makes 750HP naturally aspirated and it’s a total monster, and still gets 20 MPG.

Trying to get my c6z built. I’m in OR and shops are quoting me $10-15k for just fixed heads and cam parts+labor+tune?? Is this really high is it just my area? Thinking of trying to research a ton and just take the project on myself but I’ve never done something this complicated. I guess I’m asking what all did you get done to your car for $8k wherever you live?

@@samuelgibson2120do the work yourself do some research, take your time and do it right. So much more rewarding and you save a shit ton of money. I used to pay someone to do my work. But these ls motors are very easy and simple to work on. Drain the coolant & oil pull the heads, lifters, when u swap the cam make sure u line the dot on the crank and the dot on the cam gear put & put a new cam plate on. Just get a heads cam kit that comes with everything.

I pulled the valve covers to see if there was any obvious issues, loose rockers, pushrod, etc., looked all tight, I did see some scratching on the inside of the valve covers potentially hitting the valve covers. I wouldnt keep a c6z if it was free. With valve guide drop or titanium sodium rods breaking and it has happened on stock cars with mild driving. Sounds like its nice to have 45k on had to replace a few engines.

Titanium sodium rods? You sound you don't know shit about the LS7 or the issues and what needs to be addressed.
The guides came oversized from the supplier, linamar, the sodium filled exhaust valve is not Titanium, ther le has been a issue with the early LS rods having the coating wear off due to the GM brass not taking the added steps in the coating process.
Heads get fixed with ferra hollow STAINLESS STEEL exhaust valves, the Titanium intake valves can be reused.
Maybe go do research before commenting on this guy's video, and no the engines aren't 20k your too poor probably to own a c6 z06😂😂😂😂

Here, I'll save you 13 minutes (with a more important message below):
Step 1. Buy a cam, intake manifold, and Halltech CAI (or Vararam).
Step 2. Slight work to heads, and valve springs.
    Step 3. Tune.
Here's a more important tip: it will help to speak to the camshaft seller, because just slapping a donkey-dick cam in to make 600whp+ isn't all that there is to it. You can put a gigantic 248/262 camshaft in there to make maximum dyno numbers, but your driveability will suffer because where you make power will shift higher into the RPM range. You'll end up with a car that you can brag that it makes 6xx whp, but you'll hate driving it. Oh, and it will need valve springs replaced more often. Or, you can get a smaller camshaft that will make less power near redline, but you'll make more power and more torque throughout the rest of the RPM range.
Finally, if your dyno graph shows STD instead of SAE, it's because they wanted to inflate your numbers.

What are you talking about, that will never happen, new cars yes, but not cars already on the road.
