  • The “Modification MAL” will run until Sept 2024
Works in progress allowed if started no earlier than Christmas Eve (24th December) 2023.
Prizes will be drawn quarterly from posts on this thread. Each quarter there will be a physical prize (probably yarn), from a post with a picture, and a pattern prize (up to US$15) for a post without a picture.
At the beginning of October a grand prize will be drawn - the winning entry must be a picture of a Finished Object.
Please be a subscriber to the Podcast: / @notquiteenoughyarn
To be eligible to win a prize.
Prizes will be announced on the podcast and must be claimed by the 25th of the following month.
    What crafts are involved?
All types of knitting or crochet.
    All project types are eligible.
    What counts as modification?
    • Pattern creation - if you design your own patterns, please feel free to include them here.
    • Change of structure/dimensions - eg, making something shorter, longer, wider etc.
    • Change in construction - eg adding a different heel type, working a pattern in the round when it was written for flat, changing the neckline, making a sweater into a cardigan, adding shaping or darts, etc.
    • Including patterns which change gauge - eg cables or colourwork, where modifications are needed to keep the garment size the same.
Good luck and please get in contact if there are any queries.

Get well soon. I think under the circumstances rather than keep trying to reduce your stash to fit into your glass fronted units you might as well accept the fact that you just need to buy another unit and then the problem will go away. 🙂

I enjoyed seeing all your WIPs. I like to have a few different projects on the needles. I currently have 3 different projects on the go. I’m going to Knitcity Canada this May. It’s in Toronto. Toronto is only 100km from my home. It’s a huge yarn festival. So, I’m trying to save my money and not purchase any new patterns/yarn until I go to the festival. Take care Leslie.🌸🧶

Hi. Your dog walking fluff is a gorgeous rich colour.
I like the pattern and yarn for the rainbow scarf. I think that will be eye catching.
I wonder if knitting on your own pattern is because you have made it before. I lack lustre if i knit a pattern more than once. Even though i must of enjoyed it the first time around.
You have lots of lovely WIPs on the go.
    Good to see your recovering.

I'm not sure - because some patterns I'll happily make more than once (I repeated one within a month a few years ago, and loved them both). Maybe it's the thought of finding mistakes in my own patterns that slows me down?
Hope you are well and thanks so much xx

I’m from the U.S. I learned English and supposedly Spanish in school. Most of my Spanish comes from living in California and the southwestern US. Uno cervesa freo, por favor’. (One cold beer please) or donde’ esta el ban’o (where is the toilet). Both necessary sentences.

    • @NotQuiteEnoughYarn

Hi Lesley, glad you are up and about. Don't like to think of my 'friends ' being poorly.
I know friends is a weird way to express, but I online having friends as visitors, and I visit with you most weekends!
Have to admit if I have more that thrre, maybe four at a push, wips I feel so overwhelmed and can't craft. Defeats the object but I prefer having just a knit and a crochet work underway.
Though not managing to do any crochet at all, painful wrists and hand.
My 11, going on 20, year old granddaughter has dabbled in crochet for while but in the last month she has crocheted a hat for the cat, I know don't ask 😂and is doubling up her yarn to make a scrap blanket.
Quick question. I was having a video call with her yesterday and we was talking about different stitches. If I was to help her make it into a stitch sampler blanket, is there anything I need to know about width?
I sent her two large carrier bags of yarn for part of her Easter gift. One mainly small balls and the other full or almost full balls. She was so excited.
Trying to rein her in as she's already wanting to crochet the moon!
Don't want her to not have ideas, but she was rhyming off what she wanted to make yesterday and we are going to be very busy.
She love make-up and fashion. Some of the make-up looks she has done put Boy George to shame!
Happy Easter Egg day, which is a festival we can all take part in.
    Feel better soon. xxJane 🐑🌼

      @NotQuiteEnoughYarn  3 місяці тому

Hi Jane. Thank you and sorry I'm so late in replying.
Yes - my online friends are friends, too xx
Not sure what you mean about width, when talking about a stitch sampler blanket? If crochet /gauge, I did a small sampler once to see how different sts (dtr vs dc, etc) had an impact on st gauge and I found no difference at all. The only thing I do find is that if I'm doing filet crochet, the ch sp is sometimes narrower than a stitch, and it can pull the fabric in.
Is that what you meant? Of have I got the wrong end of the stick? Please let me know.
I'm glad your granddaughter is so excited about yarny things. I once got a box of yarns as a Christmas gift and I loved it - I made a beret, scarf and mitts, which I then wore to the giver's son's wedding (that should have taught her!)
Hope all is well and hope that your painful wrist is easing.
      Take care
      xx
