    So,headstock of Caparison,carved top like a PRS Cu 24 /ESP Horizon,thin finish over ash,so you can see the grain, like a Mayones or Kiesel,set-through neckjoint like some Schecters.
    Made in Japan,which means quality will be on the highest level,sadly the price is also very high.The good old days,when you could buy an Ibanez Fujigen,Jackson MIJ or ESP ''Standard''-Series,for a good price are long gone.
    P.S. For that price point,it should had stainless steel frets as standard.

    Thanks for this review Hunter. You covered enough of my questions about this brand to make it a real contender for my next guitar purchase. I agree with every positive you mentioned. Would like to have the binding to be either Carbon Fiber, Abalone or Ivory/Off White/Cream colored. The white is kind of stark and clinical in my opinion. Would stop me from buying it though. Thanks again for the great review.

    It doesn't surprise me one bit that the quality of this Japanese made guitar is top notch. I've always admired how their culture emphasizes precision and quality. They seem to really take pride in what ever it is they create, whether it's electronics, food or even guitar making. Great video and thanks for introducing those of us who had never heard of Vola to this really cool guitar.

    What's your opinion on Gretsch guitars? Especially the new G5220 Electromatic Jet Single Cut and the Streamliner series? They are around £500 ($700) and from my previous experiences give huge bang for the buck. Any chance of seeing some of these on the channel in the future? Keep Rocking \m/

    That's a very good looking guitar and I've been impressed with the Vola stuff I've seen. My only reservation is, will it hold value like some of the other big names if you ever have to sell it? I never sell my guitars, so that won't matter to me much, but this might be a hard sell versus a used PRS with a really sharp flamey top for me. Love your riffage man and appreciate what you do and the nice surprise of the "high priced" Vola being mixed in with the other mid-priced stuff you usually review. Rock on Hunter!

    That's one thing these expensive boutique manufacturers haven't figured out: How to make the split-coil option not result in a massive drop in volume. Dean Zelinsky's got it nailed with his "Sidekick" pickups, but I haven't found any of the pricier brands figuring it out.

    • @agufish
      @agufish  6 років тому

      I gotta check them out! The only ones I’ve tried that don’t have the volume drop are the Fishman Fluence Single Widths. Killer pickups!

    • @johncrafton8319
      @johncrafton8319 6 років тому

      Agufish I recently purchased a La Voce, which is a pretty unique guitar. It has a Sidekick, a regular humbucker, a Ghost Pickup system, and plenty of options to blend the sounds. If you really want to try something different, opt for the Z-Glide neck. It's a thin guitar, single cut, chunky v-neck, and very, very different.

  • @loneponderer495
    @loneponderer495 6 років тому

    The frets don't look rounded. I know they don't have to be to be good but it's seems odd for this price point. I could be wrong as there wasn't a real close up on them.
    Just pointing that out as part of the problem with sharp frets isn't that they are made improperly it's that wood will shrink somewhat over time where metal bits like frets won't. This means even if a guitar has perfect frets when you first get it after a year or so they might start poking out and rounding them helps keep them from actually cutting you if this happens.

      One of my favorite necks in my collection is an AllParts TMO-FAT. It's one whole inch thick from nut to heel. It's a baseball bat. I tend to err on the side of thicker for my necks. Ibanez Wizard necks make my handle cramp.

    The only thing that puts me off when it comes to guitars is the fret size, I can play on any radius, but fret size kills it for me I like to touch my fretboard ! Anything bigger than medium jumbo is a deal breaker for me. Like I've really tried to like esp guitars. Oh and I wish that guitar brands would give the fret size in the specs, too many brands omit this info like it isn't important...

    My #1 issue with most guitars of this style (super strats), is the volume pot placement. I hate... HATE it that close to the bridge/pick up. Never bothered me for the longest time, but I changed the way I play about 10 years ago, and now it's always in my way. I see a beautiful (yet too pricey) guitar like that, and my first thought it, "Well, I've gotta pull that tone, and move the volume pot back." I blame moving from Strat style, to LP style, for my hatred of close positioned volume pot troubles. haha

      Yeah the volume knob placement is one of my biggest annoyances with so many guitars. The guitar can be godly, but if that volume knob is too close, it's an instant deal-breaker. This is actually perfect. It's not as close as you'd think, it didn't get in the way like the LTD H3 or Jim Root Tele for me!

    Hey! I Have a big muff tone wicker and am looking for a better distortion pedal, My overdrive is the new Fender Santa Ana, and im looking for something that can get dirty, T H I C C metal tones, and some rythym. Any suggestions? I was thinking the Metal Core, or the Metal Muff, thank you so much!!!

    • @xXEmbracetheMetalXx
      @xXEmbracetheMetalXx 6 років тому

      Griffin Lamon Go with the MXR EVH 5150 Overdrive pedal. It’s amazing! Has plenty of pedal settings so you can dial in the exact tone youve dreamed about, and it has a built-in noisegate. Its actually a distortion pedal, not an overdrive.
      The Metal Core sounds great, but it’s kind of a pain in the ass to dial in the right tone. SUPER touchy on the settings.

    • @xXEmbracetheMetalXx
      @xXEmbracetheMetalXx 6 років тому

      If you’re choosing between the Metal Core or Metal Muff, go Metal Core for sure! The Metal Muff is not meant for the metalcore genre.
      I own both the Metal Core and the 5150. The 5150 crushes the Metal Core, really. The Metal Core plus an overdrive gets it close, but the 5150 is like a distortion and overdrive in one. It will have you coring metal in NO time! 🙂

      @xXEmbracetheMetalXx 6 років тому

      Griffin You’re welcome, my man! Youre going to LOVE it!
      Keep in mind that when it comes to distortion, sometimes less is more. You may want to keep the gain setting at around 6.5 and 8. If youre in a band and playing to a crowd, this can make the difference between the crowd hearing everything youre throwing at them, and not hearing much but distorted fuzz.
      Start at 12 oclock on each setting, and fine tune from there. Everyone’s settings are a bit different, as we all have our preferences and different gear. My 5150 overdrive settings are bass at 5, mid at 4, treble at 8, and gain at between 7.5 and 8.

    I think you should play some slightly different types of sounds when trying out different guitars like a rock sound or heavy rock sound as a lot of the guitars start to sound the same with the same setup.
    Sorry just a opinion.

    I see a floyd rose. Where are the dimebag squeals? It looks a shit of a lot like a mayones like I said on fb. and you say Mayo is more expensive? My setius custom order was 2170 euros, so that's not really more expensive if you're shopping for that money.

    I appreciate the drumpf joke, but I would assume the C in VHC stands for Ceramic?

      @agufish  6 років тому +1

      lol yeah I asked them what it stood for and they just didn't respond, so I made something up on the spot. If I had to make a serious guess, I'd say Vola Hand-Wired Ceramic.

      Agufish makes sense. Or Vola Humbucker Ceramic, if they do singles too

    "It even has gotoh locking tuners" - shows huge picture of non-locking tuners

    • @agufish
      @agufish  6 років тому

      They are locking. They're the same Gotoh tuners as the one on my Eclipse. They just don't have the large thumb-screws on the back like other locking tuners

    • @Murderer1291
      @Murderer1291 6 років тому

      Agufish sooo, they are top-locking tuners? Because the strings are wound like 1.5-2 times around each tuner^^

    • @agufish
      @agufish  6 років тому

      Yeah, but they do that with Eclipses and stuff, too. it just looks better lol
