I 1st get my aviation weather brief so I am aware of winds and their speeds and then plot my course for direct ground course and calculate for wind speeds magnate hdg adjustment plus or minus few degrees and depending on weather use special vfr and following requests and log my time in Zulu hrs unless it's like in same state short trip my case cdt for all Midwest and have other information from poh regarding plane
@@GoldSealFlight When you call a Flight Service Station, they will need to know your flying intentions. Give them your intended route and altitude(s) you expect the aircraft can attain. If the weather at your destination might be iffy or your destination might be subject to runway closure, you will need a preferred alternate for diversion.
Here's a technique I used for drawing on a paper chart when I was a navigator in the USAF. The TPCs, ONCs, and JOG AIRs I used were printed with oil-based ink. I used a pointed felt tipped water based black ink pen to draw my course lines, labels, etc. If there was no requirement to archive my chart, I could reuse the chart for other missions. When I needed to remove my old lines, I used household bleach on the lines to fade the black ink. The bleach would not affect the underlying oil-based ink. Used sparingly, the bleach would not warp or damage the paper. The easiest way to apply the bleach was to fill an eye drop container and lightly dab over the lines.
MH is before the deviation correction, we fly compass heading
On check ride I agree with knowing old aviation way of navigation as electronics can fail at any time
Thank you very much. Very helpful review. You guys make a great team!
Sorry I missed the original broadcast. What if you’re planning with an older aircraft that doesn’t have any of these performances charts in the POH?
Just awesome THANK YOU!
Some great advice and resources re: Flight Planning.. Thank you..

How are you going to plan before when you don't know the exact wind a
loft
Check winds aloft in preflight weather briefing. That's your starting point. Adjust as necessary.

Well done!
Thanks a lot, good job 👍
