I was listening to Floyd and saw one of your comments and someone appreciating your covers in one of the replies. I have actually never heard a Floyd cover in my life because I thought I dont want to hear something terrible and cringe thinking about how someone destroyed floyd's music (really unfair on my part I know!) but something made me click on your page. I find that I am blown away. I love Floyd and David Gilmour and this solo in particular. I really didn't expect something half as good as this. I read somewhere else you and 3 guys have formed a band and you are waiting for the copyright issues to be sorted out before we get to hear your music on YT and also that your style of playing would be somewhere between Gilmour and Knopfler. I really look forward to hearing your own songs too though your covers are amazing. I had a brilliant voice but I never did something about it. Once upon a time I wished with all my heart that I could sing my own songs, form a band, have people hear and enjoy my music but eventually just ended up sidetracking it. Maybe someday... Anyway I really hope you pursue your dreams. I wish you all the luck and look forward to seeing where you go, with the talent that you have been blessed with! :) (besides good taste in music :P)
Bravo 👍 That was just Grrrreat. The right balance of Grit & Growl .... it has Balls & your playing excellent. It’s saved in my favourites. Thanks 😁 😉👍🎸
I have never enjoyed a cover of Gilmour's Comfortably Numb guitar solo, as much as this one. I saw Pink Floyd in concert in 94 and have been a passionate fan ever since. This is the only cover, that has given me that same feeling. So thank you 🙏 Du har nu fået en ny følger 🙂👍
Hey Kim, many thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate them! As a kid (young adult I guess) from '94, especially The Division Bell has special meaning to me and I am of course a bit saddened I could not have possibly attended the PULSE tour as you did.. Og fedt, jeg taenker om at lave flere PF covers, men det er bare lidt svaert at finde solos jeg ikke allerede har spillet ind. :P
You're an amazing guitar player Santosh. I love the comfortably numb solo, specially the pulse, Gdansk and the one done by Damien Darlington from Brit Floyd. Wish I could play like you someday. You are an inspiration to me. Thanks!
Wow, thank you! That makes me happy. Honestly, I have no idea what to do with my music (guitar), professionally. But it is a nice hobby for sure. Keep on playing man :)
Santosh Kuppens I am a big Gilmour fan too. I have seen all your Gilmour solo videos and they send off similar emotions as the original. I am mighty impressed, be it you lost for words cover, poles apart, where we start, another brick in the wall...every single one of them is a masterpiece. Keep on playing and keep inspiring. P.S. I saw Gilmour live in Chicago on 4th April and that's easily the best day of my life. Have a great year ahead man!
This melody, God created it! You brought it to us in the likeness of an angel! That's impressive. Thank you! Words may not convey emotions, I'm from Russia.
Umm I learned the solo like half a year ago, and then played it when I felt like doing it, so it became a solo I started playing in a relaxed way :) I learned this one by ear, because there aren't any official books that tabbed the Pulse Version, so memorizing was the trick :) Cheers !
Great work.... well done. Excellent. You remind me of Neal Schon who joined Santana in his early teens. He's 1 of the most talented guitarists ever. I hope you consider doing the Whiter Shade of Pale which Neal did along with Sammy Hagar etc. HSAS (Hagar Schon Aaronson Shreve? ) maybe messed up spellings but many artists think the original 60s version played by organ is the best song ever!! I guess it's bcs Bach wrote it.
Sincerely, more enjoyable than listening the whole song on _Pulse,_ because I think they do the song too slow, and I miss Roger Waters's vocals. Loved the fast riff starting at 2:52, never really noticed it before! Also, I was very eager to see how the repeating riff at 3:25 was played; I was surprised to see it all in one position! I had always visualized it sliding up and down the fretboard. Really well done! Covers of this song are a dime-a-dozen on UA-cam, but yours was instructive, and I appreciate that. Either do it note-for-note, or do it completely different, that's my feeling!
Actually I played the riff at 3:25 not the way Gilmour does it. Gilmourish.com has a tutorial video of that, if you want to know more about it. Thanks for your kinds words, they're highly appreciated.
***** I've been having a go at the studio-version solo, on and off, over 25 years now ... I've made my peace with being fundamentally unable to learn it. My memory is so poor, I wonder if I'm brain damaged. It came as a complete surprise to see I'd already commented on this one month ago.
Thanks :) Play things you like and music you know very well. Maybe consider guitar lessons (private lessons or in a music school), it helped me quite alot, 4 years after 1 year of playing on my own and got stuck. And for the rest; keep playing and practicing, you'll get better for sure! :) Hope these tips will help, good luck!
Thank you so much, positive comments really make my day and encourage me to make my dream, well one of them (a Belgian PF-coverband) happen or atleast get closer to it! :)
Great cover I've listened to all of your covers and really liked them all. I hope your in a floyd tribute band because I think your a superb guitar player. I'm currently learning myself how did you get this good at playing floyd is it just learning scales and playing by ear. Or did you practice the songs one by one with tabs.
Hey, thank you so much James, that's lovely to hear! I am not unfortunately and am not (yet?) in the situation to start one up myself. I would love to play in one though, it's pretty weird some people are making a living playing Pink Floyd live. I have a limited theoretical/technical background, so most of it came through playing and playing.. I would say I let me guide by tabs, and look for tabs if there is a section I really can not figure out myself. The nice thing about playing Gilmour solos is that when you know a few, it's pretty easy to learn know. The licks are all similar to each other. For this one for example, I had to learn it by ear as there is no official tab of the PULSE version available. There might be tabs around, but I just think it's also part of the fun figuring it out yourself. :) Cheers, Santosh
@@SantoshKuppensthanks for the advice I think it's all technique with gilmour I find it hard to get the tones and sound. Just watching your hand it all looks like minor/aeolian and alot of his solos do. I would love to see you cover sorrow if you can. One of my favourite ones that I have seen Mt gilmour perform live.
Santosh, this was so damn close that in the end I heard - "Thank you very much indeed. Good night to you." How many times did you practice before you gave this almost no mistake one cut rendition? Also, do you read music or you've been memorizing these riffs? Keep playing.
Awesome, you really get david in applying the subtle smoothness, seen by how you strike the strings at pivotal points with an angle and finess that draws the subtle tones, not like the metal bearded bald guys that just rape the guitar with obscenely exaggerated distortion and rock hard picks. Great job, keep rockin! BTW, would really like to see you improvise on your own. Write your own background music and chord progresions and improvise. Seeing as you have a near perfect emulation of David Gilmour, I am sure you could come up with some really kewl stuff!
Hehe thank you! And yes, my playing seems to have a huge preference towards Sir D. Gilmour; I don't know why & how, but I do 'feel' him. I do have a project with three other guys (totally own music). I'm not sure if and when, but it may be appearing on YT sometime (when the copyright things are sorted). But if it's up, you can see what MY playing is like. I'd describe it as something between Sir D. Gilmour's playing and M. Knopfler, somewhere in between them. But my time will come, if I'll ever have a time hehe..; I'd like to though! :)
Thanks Angus, and to be honest, I do not know. I bought this guitar second handed and all I know is that this guitar is a MIJ one from the 80s somewhere. Probably the pickups that came with it. Hope that helps. :)
@@SantoshKuppens It sounds absolutely brilliant. And your rendition of Comfortably Numb is outstanding. It's an original take on it that enhances the song. I own a Mexican double humbucker strat with stock Fender designed pickups. It sounds good but I'm gonna upgrade the pickups to DiMarzios and make it sound great, probably with the Tone Zone/Air Norton set.
hey there! I have subscribed your channel a few months ago due to your AMAZING guitar skills and your taste to Pink Floyd and i wanted to know what is the model of your guitar :) keep posting Floydian vids! cheers from Portugal! :)
Thanks man, glad you came back hehe :) The guitar I use here is a Fender Stratocaster Made in Japan (MIJ) from the Eighties. Once I'll be rich enough to buy an American Strat, or even the Gilmour Custom model :D
Amir Dario Baharkoush Hehe thanks, but I've heard it's actually not the actual way Gilmour played that part. Gilmourish has more information. But it works for me.. hehe
Terrific and effortless play yet again! Any Pink Floyd cover band will be lucky to have you :-)
