Hey man I'm 48 years old and I just bought one of these bikes and it is a blast. I always wanted a Redline or Hutch or Haro , but my mother couldn't afford any of those so I settled for the old Huffy. But, I have one now, as well as a Haro and I love them.
I've been riding bmx non stop since 1982 now 2021 and still riding and smashing the teens at the pipe and bowls. At 50 i still feel like 20, 25 years old. Gym weight training helps a crap load. And don't worry of course you'll fall it's part of the fun brother.
Thats great to hear you kept it up all these years man, i stopped and went to mtb for years and rode bmx the odd occasion, now at 50 im wanting to start racing with a couple of mates, just trying to work out to go a 20 or 24, the 24 feels more planted and i feel more confident specially as my mtb is a 29er, starting slowly but loving it. One thing i never stopped is weight training/boxing it makes a massive difference you are correct 👍 keep enjoying buddy!
I'm 65, and bought a 24" Framed "Getaway" BMX bike a couple of days ago for $367 (including tax). I haven't biked for decades, so when I finally receive it, I hope I don't fall on my face. It's should be good exercise, and work on my equilibrium.
I got a 2008,bmx cruiser,mx24.green color .choronologly frame, forks handlebars. 3piece crank install originally had a one piece crank.still rides great.use to ride it on bmx race track for fun.never raced though.r.l. chain tighners also.keep it fresh and nice. Black ops handle bars, chronology also.
@@TonyHobyou might like the pump track better for bmx....😅🎉🎉🎉 I have a chance to grab one of these bikes too.. but really enjoy mountain biking being older these days!!!🎉🎉🎉
I love that cruiser! I am almost 50 and I ride a stripped down Redline 20" freestyle bike (2001 5 $pot) that I found in a pawn shop about 15 years ago and have ridden it off and on ever since. I just ordered a set of Skyway mags for it and looking for a set of old school Red Line decals for the chrome frame. I’m a bigger guy (6’1", 200lbs) so I have a laid back seat post to give me more legroom with a gel seat to help with my old tailbone when I want to sit down and cruise but I stand up on the pedals most of the time due to pain of riding all these years. I have been looking for something a little larger without all the freestyle stuff (detangler, dual brakes, larger gussets etc.). I think I may start to look for one of these but I highly doubt I find a deal like you did!
It sure does...BTW, did you check out the video of my Taff trail review. At the end look at how high the seat is set. If that bike was too small for me, as you say, the seat would be slammed LOL! ua-cam.com/video/baQS6KmubBI/v-deo.html
I just paid 550 for basiclly the same bike. ..got the '21 mx24 and it is awesome.....its hard as hell to find cruisers in Rockford RN....had to wait for a restock....definatly want slam 7 inch bars and getting a new fork to....enjoy, its fast as hell!
So I raced fr about 10 to 15. Rode and junior and an expert. Won states a few times... but I digress; I'm wanting to get back into it... can't decide between the 24in and 26in. Really thinking 26in.
I did. I tried it a couple of times but decided to stick to mountain biking. Sprinting gets difficult when you get older. I can go slower and longer on the MTB 😂
Super cool, nice bike and great deal!! I want to take up bmx racing at age 47. What is your opinion on 20 vs 24 inch especially in regards to a beginner? Thanks!
How big are you? I just bought a Redline MX24. I’m 5’9” and 215lbs. I feel like I’m kissing my knees when I petal. I want to raise the seat but it’s almost out of the frame. Suggestions?
I’m 5’10”, 200 lbs. You can buy a longer seat tube but these newer bikes are really designed just for racing where you are out of the saddle. Not like the old 80’s and 90’s bikes that were easier to use to cruise around as well.
I just got the same bike second hand! Did you end up getting the higher handlebars? I was thinking about doing a higher handlebar also... Hope you have been enjoying the bike for the past few months!
Went to practice at the track once but ended up selling it to get a vintage 1983 Diamondback Viper. I actually regret it now. This Redline is a sweet bike
@@TonyHob I was looking to go on a bikepacking trip and wanted the simplest option possible. I used to have a single speed fat bike but it was too sluggish.
@@TonyHob ooooohh, this was the one that slipped through and made her put her foot down. I got it. It's hard when you find something fun and enjoyable to not want to buy something better or different. Next thing you know, 6 bike's are taking up alot of space.
you are old when you think you are , as simple as that
Very true
Just picked up a used MX24 yesterday. Excited at 56.
I've got one too!!! I raced Redline back in the day!!!
My MX-24 has never been ridden. It's house art!!!

Love my redline
I used this same bike at a Pump Track. Runs smooth and quiet.
Solid bike!

Get a mountain bike if you don’t already have one. Tons of fun and much more comfortable 👍
You can race bmx at any age dont let that stop you from having fun i just started racing bmx ill be 39 in November dude
Looks like a worthy warrior. Generally, main rule, always end, rubber side down...
As true now as it was then!
Have the red one ... fast, sweet on pump track
Good video. 👍
of course it fits you well!!

I think the best upgrade i did was put bigger handlebars.
the seat is stock.
And the the stock brakes are black
Thanks for the info 👍

I have a SE Quadangle 24 with the same type of handlebar. I changed it to an Answer 7.5. It feels weird but im sure itll be better for my back.

The 24 felt good. If you mountain bike a 26 would feel better IMO
I got used one .24 db..iam 52
Done any track riding with it yet?
Yo tengo 54 años y también corro BMX en Costa Rica.
Saludos! También tengo 54 ahora
Ride…,ride…ride….there’s no replacing practice and experience.
i picked a 2003 redline slant for 90 dollars. thats pretty old lol.
this one has an aluminum frame but a cromo seat tube
Awesome deal!
@@TonyHob nice to hear. i just didnt want to suffer from buyers remorse. Im actually planning on installing an electric kit o it as well
Oldie but goodie. You sure front sprocket is not 41 tooth? These bikes are not for the trail.
I have that bike
I'm interested to know if you ever made it to the track and how it went. I have an MX 24 as well.. I have the last year they made it in full Chromoly.

@@TonyHob nice, I'm turning 50 this year and am slowly getting myself into shape to hit a track.

I would go for the 24. The 20 felt tiny to me. The 24 is a comfortable fit since I ride a lot of MTB.
@@TonyHob Thanks! I do have a 26 inch steel mtb singlespeed maybe will use that for time being, until i find the right race bike.
If your taller than 5'4" , get a cruiser...i have a brand new mx24 and it is fast as hell. I love it
Where did u find it? Ive been lookin for ever.
Facebook market place. Local riding group pages can have good deals too.
I have a 24 gt Mach one and just bought my daughter a red mx24,if you're looking for a good seat for long rides check out planet bike A.R.S. Seat,👍

@@TonyHob Allright!
I’m 6’ 2”…..will this bike be to small for me, or just fine?
I think it's recommended up to 6'. It may be too small for you
How tall are you? Don you hit your knees on the headset?
The MX24 is recommended for 5’7” to 6’, I am 5’10” and it fits well
@@TonyHob thank you I’m 6’ looking to get back into racing. It changed a lot since the 90s when I knew everything lol

Lulu Bejot subbed back. I need the info in your videos! 😁
Is this bike too big for someone 5'5?
It should still fit
How you talk the wife into that one?
This bike I bought days before I saw the Gira. I was at Academy Sports buying an inner-tube for it. That's why I can't buy another bike, LOL!
