FFAR (701m / s): Align the tip of the wing of the 800m line to the center of the target from a distance of 800m. RS-132 (355m / s): Align the tip of the wing of the 400m line to the point where the target ends from a distance of 400m. You're so underrated, thanks for the video, learned a lot! Your way to give a content is amazing, these subtitles, and visualization of aiming really helped me out to understand, keep it up mate
Haha, I always thought that the lowest one of the reticle would be like 1 km away and the smallest 200m. No wonder I've never hit any rockets until the manual Nords. All in all a great educational video.
This is an amazing guide and amazing job. I find your accent quite relaxing! Thank you for taking your time to do this guide for those, like me, that suck at rockets
with a bit of practice in custom missions you can launch most rockets from insane distances at the fixed targets. very useful in AB mode to whittle down AAA/howitzers/pillbox with certain planes that have fast rocket reloads. I won't tell you how to do it because quite honestly it could be game breaking if it became a meta thing haha but to get the hang of it I suggest custom missions practice certain altitudes, practice looking for certain 'skypoints' above fixed positions to lineup your crosshairs and watch the rocket trajectory, trial and error and it becomes very effective :D
Hi Justin, thanks, glad the video helped you out some. There may be other videos on the channel that can help you further. I suggest ua-cam.com/video/pd3XF5c91u4/v-deo.html for a few beginner tips. The video is older, but the info is still valid.
I'll say, I commented a while back. Well thanks to your video and practice I can score HVAR, RP-3 and RBS-132 rocket kills fairly regularly. Love the RP-3's but sad they nerfed them a bit though still very good. The IL-2 AP rockets, the RBS-132's that act like APHE when you get a direct hit with them, I used to really do well with but since they did the alternating rockets instead of two at a time volley, it's really messed with my aim. I'm sure I'll adjust but I just wanted to say thank you, I've taken out high priority targets with the RP-3 and RBS-132's in clutch games and it's thanks to your video. And for those who who doubt the RBS-132, I have knocked out KV-1C's, Tigers, Churchills and M4A3E2's on a regular basis with those. Their high penetration is great for heavy tanks, I've gotten Tigers, KV's, IS's, many heavy tanks with them. While you gotta hit square with the RBS-82 and RBS-132, they're a sure 1 shot kill if you penetrate, I recommend them over the other rockets since your 23mm cannons can mince light targets anyway plus you can bring 4 100kg bombs along. And with the IL-2's excellent mobility, you can get very close and top down before needing to pull off. Anyway, thanks again for the video.
Hi Adam, Glad the video helped you out. I have not yet tried the RBS after they changed them to single fire. Would be nice if the RP-3s also got this option, but I do not think they used them that way historically. I also think the cannons on the IL-2s are best used to crit and get kill assists with, they are not consistent enough, even though they have nice armor pen. In that regard, the German Mk 103 is superior and easier to get tank kills with. It has been a while since I have played around with the RBS-132s, ill better get some games in with them again soon 👍
@@8BitDane I really grew to love them simply for their ability to 1 shot even the heaviest of tanks with their high penetration. And since they act like an APHE round and with over pressure also a factor now, they rarely do not kill something they penetrate. They go through Shermans, Panzer IV's and most British tanks with ease it's just the heavy tanks you have to be sure to hit a flat part of their armor. I've hit the side of a KV tank and it didn't penetrate but while HVAR's just can't get through some of the heavy tank roofs, the RBS can and if it does it detonates after entering which is why I like them. Pretty much, a direct hit is a sure kill with them. This might have been more beneficial before over pressure to be fair as over pressure seems to have helped any rocket hitting a roof kill the entire crew. Still, just love the RBS for the reason they're reliably able to kill heavies. I've had KV players be shocked I knocked them out with my IL-2 rockets, I just think they're over looked.
This is a great tutorial. I was always aiming the wrong way, trying to add "superelevation" for longer range. Thinking the horizontal bar was just dispersion. Thanks,
additional tips for some of the planes, you can shoot nearly half of the rockets single by setting the rocket shooting key to rocket instead of rocket salvo specially US and GB rockets easier to hit target while you turn your plane 90 wings up and down so the rocket on the wing (whether shot in single or double) will have a nice curve like a shot from a tank
I’d have to say thank you very much for this video explains so much about rockets. I hope you have time to update videos about other parts of war thunder I look forward to hopefully watching all of them. Keep up the great work and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Hi Michael, glad you found the video useful ! My channel mostly consists of "how to" and guide videos for WT. Even when I just do some gameplay I try to make them informative. Thank you for the kind words.
Wow this video helped me a lot and the information is clearly stated. I will probably watch this multiple times because there is soo much useful information, thank you.
Hi Arthur, thanks ! - glad you found it useful. I mainly made it because I could not find any of that information when I started playing myself, had to figure it out too. I wanted to help others avoid spending too much time and SL finding out the facts.
I know alot about rocketing. but this is a really nice video on it. one thing that might be missing is the AOA to Thrust capability of the plane (when you make a turn, you keep the momentum of where you were going until you're flying straight for like 1s)
I think the rocket sight horizontal lines are the opposite to what you mentioned. The short top one is for 200m, and the longest one at the bottom is for 800m. Rockets drop over range, so will hit lower from the gun reticle the further you shoot them, not the other way round. The length of the horizontal line shows the spread of the rockets. The further away you shoot them the more they spread and deviate to the side. The nearer you shoot them the less they spread.
Hi Beng, sorry but you are mistaken, try go to the practice range and try it out yourself :) The speed of the rocket also has a big influence on how much it drops in flight, the faster the rocket, the flatter its trajectory and the less of a drop you have to account for.
appreciate the support, thank you. If you take a look at the "Got Stuka ?" video, I have a segment there talking about the most commonly used bombs and their destruction capabilities and damage radius :) - But yes, I do plan on making a general level bombing tutorial eventually.
America: rockets all over the tree Germany: lets give this plane 2 rockets and 4 here and oh shit, the other nations used way more rockets. Fuck it, lets give 48 of them to the me 262 and while we‘re at it make some rocket engines out of the leftovers
I was about to give up on tiny Tim's as anything other than flying low and flat to the ground and just lobbing them at r3s for an easy kill, but now I feel like I can actually hit things.
Good vid man just one thing tho about these German rockets. Some fighters such as bf109g6 or IAR 81 C can also carry them and they can fire them normal way.
you know, its funny you said that, I had acutally made a voice over mentioning the other planes able to carry them, but I messed up the editing and forgot to put it in :(
27:20 I'd just like to add that you CAN use these rockets mounted normally on the FW190's that can mount these rockets, such as the FW190 A-5. Germany suffers no more!
Lol, just keep at it ! and thanks 🙂 problem is also that Gaijin changes the trajectory and speed of the rockets from time to time. So they can suddenly change behavior.
@@8BitDane Please keep making INFO videos on War Thunder! You definitely have the best voice and most information to learn out of every UA-camr I’ve watched!
@@NadroSwag Hi Jay, thanks for the feedback, I will keep doing them. I have started to add a pro and con section for all the vehicles I do gameplay videos with for the same reason.
Reading distance with the horizontal lines.. smh This is why I’m here. I can actually hit shit now. I was also reading the vertical reading wrong.. ug lmao.
Great video. I was wondering if you had any idea how to use those white lines that you see on the nose when in a cockpit of an IL-2? I heard its used to aim rockets, but I just can't find a tutorial anywhere.
lol, no offense taken, BloodRaven, it was a cool thing to say, just happy people understand my weird accent at all ! - glad you got something out of the video !
You can't, now you fire them one at at time with the left wing first on almost all aircraft. A select few fire the rockets from the right wing first and even fewer both rockets like in the guide at the same now.
Hi jokes4life, well it depends. I think you get more consistent results once you learn to aim with the bombs, but they are harder to use. With rockets you get multiple attempts for kills but you need to be more precise with an inherent unprecise weapon. The rockets can be more random in where they hit.
Hi Antony, new rockets which I use myself, meaning non-guided ones will be added as they come. Doubt I will be making such a large rocket guide again anytime soon. Update videos on the topic will be smaller ones containing single rockets 🙂
Hello, thank you for this guide. Did you test triplex and tiny tims on destroyers? Are they capable of killing those ships? I know that for AI destroyer you need 500 kg bomb right to the middle so I am curious if tiny tim can do the job as well.
Hi Venca, I have not tried out the rockets on destroyers, but even the Tiny Tim "only" has 68kg of TNT, but then again, its meant to explode inside the ship itself and not on the surface. Its an interesting idea for a video, testing out rockets on AI ships 🤓 - glad you liked the video, thanks.
@@8BitDane Hi, I am doind some testing right now. If AI ships have same damage model now as ships in the test flight.. HVAR can damage destroer pretty severly. But I think ships in random realistic battle still have that simplified hit box with high resistences to anything less then 500 kg bomb.. of 2x 250kg.
@@vencaS81 I think you are right, not sure they have the compartmentalized damage model either, and its just a base number of TNT that is required, but not sure. Sounds odd that HVAR can do so much damage.
@@J37182 Yeah ships in naval have different damage model then in Air RB. There is simplified hit box.. or there was one last time I checked. For DDs in Air RB you need two 250kg bombs od one 500kg (1000lb)
I don't know what they've done to the wrf gr 21 rockets but they can't be aimed like in the video (28:58)... Even when trying to recreate the dive as shown they land between the crosshair and the rocket sight, making it even more obtuse to use when you can't use neither of the two reticules
They change where rockets hit from time to time. And every time without letting us know. The Uncle Tom's also went from decent to great to now completely useless 🙄

Hi Joshua, glad the video helped you out ! 🙂👍
WoW that was awesome keep your job going dude that was Nice
Hi Mohamad, thanks ! glad you liked it
I think the rocket sight horizontal lines are the opposite to what you mentioned.
Finally a Detail rocket tutorial subbed and bell notif also bomb tutorial pls
appreciate the support, thank you. If you take a look at the "Got Stuka ?" video, I have a segment there talking about the most commonly used bombs and their destruction capabilities and damage radius :) - But yes, I do plan on making a general level bombing tutorial eventually.
Just tried these tricks work like a charm mate, banging
Hi Sam, glad to hear it worked out for you !
Superb tutorial my dear friend! Now I understand more about rockets :))
Glad it was helpful!
Best tutorial ever, well done! Thank you for spending so much time creating this brilliant content to help others, much appreciated!
You're very welcome, Jay - glad it worked out for you 🙂
Thank you this video was amazing and helped me understand these confuzing rockets
Glad it was of some use to you.
super in depth. thank you for this great work.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks , best guide so far 👏👍

The girlfriend, boyfriend examples made me split my drink right now lol

I finally know how to use that reticle thanks
Hi Johnny, good to hear !
thanks very much for your video, mate, it is very in-depth and detailed.
Keep it up!
Hi Andrey, thanks ! glad it worked out for you and ill do my best 👍
@@8BitDane not yet, but thanks to you I feel like I'm going in the right direction)
America: rockets all over the tree
Germany: lets give this plane 2 rockets and 4 here and oh shit, the other nations used way more rockets. Fuck it, lets give 48 of them to the me 262 and while we‘re at it make some rocket engines out of the leftovers
Woah!! Thank you man keep up!
Thanks bro, you helped my aim a ton!
Hi Bgbbff, glad you got something useful from the video.
this video really opened my eyes, really thank you! Very nice video
Hey Giro, thank you for the nice comment, happy you got something out of the video !
getting a kill with a rocket is one of the most satisfying things in the game, now i can experience that more often because i can aim
thanks
Hi Disapoint, good to hear that the video worked out for you !
Thanks man I can actually use rockets now
I was about to give up on tiny Tim's as anything other than flying low and flat to the ground and just lobbing them at r3s for an easy kill, but now I feel like I can actually hit things.
Hi Doc, glad the video helped out some, there is definitely kills to get with rockets - but some can be frustrating to use for sure.
The werfer granate 21 is also mounted on some FWs (like the A-5) which makes them so much easier to use
Good vid man just one thing tho about these German rockets. Some fighters such as bf109g6 or IAR 81 C can also carry them and they can fire them normal way.
you know, its funny you said that, I had acutally made a voice over mentioning the other planes able to carry them, but I messed up the editing and forgot to put it in :(
I just subbed good stuff
Hi Army, thanks - appreciate it.
Cheers! Very informative.
Thanks Jensen, glad you got something useful from the video.
Has anyone ever told you that you have a very soothing voice I try not to fall asleep
Hi Alpha, no - that is a new one 🙂, i'm ok with that, as long as you not are using heavy equipment while listening 🙃
@@8BitDane Heavy equipment what do you mean?
@@SotGravarg oh :) - it was just a pun on the "do not operate heavy machinery while taking this medication"
@@8BitDane nah actually I'm ready to sleep right now and you're about to give me the last bit (^-^)
@@SotGravarg lol, good to hear, sleep well :)
5:10 HVAR rocket designers didnt even had the decency to add 5 kilos to the weight to make it all perfect
27:20 I'd just like to add that you CAN use these rockets mounted normally on the FW190's that can mount these rockets, such as the FW190 A-5. Germany suffers no more!
Yes ! - I had made a section about the normal reticle and usage for these rockets on the FW and IAR, but I forgot to put it in the original video 😩
Excellent tutorial, taught me a lot. I still can't hit shit with my rockets, but now I understand that I'm just bad.
Lol, just keep at it ! and thanks 🙂 problem is also that Gaijin changes the trajectory and speed of the rockets from time to time. So they can suddenly change behavior.
Amazing video, thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!
Hi Jay, thanks ! - glad you got something useful from the video.
Will wait for the ROCKETMAN - How to use rockets ( War Thunder 2022 guide (unguided))
a very good tutorial sir
Thanks for the video, I thought that you would use the largest lines for farther away targets. And now I know y I keep missing my targets
Hi Dalek, glad you got something useful from the video 🙂
@@8BitDaneye it's a really helpful video
Mind if I ask how do you shoot one I know one of them is alt space but there is one idk how to launch
Reading distance with the horizontal lines.. smh
This is why I’m here. I can actually hit shit now. I was also reading the vertical reading wrong.. ug lmao.
It took so long that in the time it took me to learn my rocket, that I died in game before I could shot them
Great video. I was wondering if you had any idea how to use those white lines that you see on the nose when in a cockpit of an IL-2? I heard its used to aim rockets, but I just can't find a tutorial anywhere.
Hi Mateo, not sure about those, the area they cover is pretty large, so I would say any even somewhat precise aiming would be difficult.
Exellent work
Thank you Sir Dane.
P.s your voice like grown up Cartman, no offence, i find it awesome!
lol, no offense taken, BloodRaven, it was a cool thing to say, just happy people understand my weird accent at all ! - glad you got something out of the video !
How do you select what wing you fire from?
You can't, now you fire them one at at time with the left wing first on almost all aircraft. A select few fire the rockets from the right wing first and even fewer both rockets like in the guide at the same now.
Are bombs better or rockets?
Hi jokes4life, well it depends. I think you get more consistent results once you learn to aim with the bombs, but they are harder to use. With rockets you get multiple attempts for kills but you need to be more precise with an inherent unprecise weapon. The rockets can be more random in where they hit.
excellent video
Would it be possible for a updated version of this video with the new rockets
Hi Antony, new rockets which I use myself, meaning non-guided ones will be added as they come. Doubt I will be making such a large rocket guide again anytime soon. Update videos on the topic will be smaller ones containing single rockets 🙂
Its soo easy, thank you for the tutorial
Hi Homi, thanks for watching, glad it help !
@@vencaS81 I dropped 2x 100lb bombs on a destroyer in naval and it damaged it a bit, no fire but turned the area i hit red
Hello Dane. I wanted to ask you if you can update this guide for the new 3 column rocket sight for planes?
Hi Spiders, its still the same rocket reticle, but they made the bars thinner 🙂
@@8BitDane but I swear to god it does have 3 column and it's really hard to aim
