quick tip from an avid CAS-hater: when using IR SAMs, you can often lock the ATGM a helicopter fires instead of the helicopter, then you can launch another missile on _your_ missile, extending the launch range as your first missile will impact the heli's ATGM and the following missile will now only have the (now closer) heli to lock onto, super fun to hit hovering Alouettes like that, generally only works when you're head-on with the ATGM/heli but i've done it with a fairly large angle before
i never understood why people hover in alouette, i just turn on manual mode and shift around. still just as easy to hit targets because you have stabilizer
Attempt number 55 at getting Spookston to play any tank with a dozer blade, the catch is, he has to dig in before engaging targets. Movement around the maps is allowed, but he has to dig in again before reengaging.
@@MerkeligStrormride Im going to be 100% honest I've never played the Ratel, I got killed at 5.7 by an ATGM and have been so annoyed ive been asking spook for a year to see him hopefully not get full uptiered and clown on a bunch of WW2 tanks

you were close, NASCAR actually stands for National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. they were called "Stock" cars because initially in the sport, you were only allowed to enter production cars that were configured in production stock.
When you next do a collab, it would be fun to see 1 of you run a super heavy tank and everyone else in the squad be tiny tanks that will function as repair drones and AA for it.
Hey spookston if you ever want to know if something that looks like a rock is a tank, use your binoculars and try to rangefind it. If it is a tank, your commander should say "Tank!".
My favourite thing to do with this thing is to zoom across the map and hide behind/in-between the enemy spawn(s) And then just sit there farming scouts until an aircraft shows up, amd you get to fire while they're cruising towards the battlefield Especially effective on cargoport, as you can get to a spot where there's no containers blocking your view, and enemy CAS thinks it's safe to approach if they fly low

I've noticed that Stingers are usually great against planes when locking to the rear of the aircraft rather than the front. Stingers honestly suck when shooting at the front of planes, so it's best to let planes fly past you to get a better lock. 70% of the time FIM Ks will ignore flares when locking from behind the aircraft.
Well, I mean they ARE IR guided missiles. It would only be natural that the best lock they get comes from the biggest heat signature on an aircraft: its engines.
@@wifelikecow The Stingers in game use a dual band IR/UV seeker (Rosette seeker) and the later variants are literally designed with UAVs in mind..... So it actually shouldn't really matter, if it can work against UAVs it should have no problem with locking helis or jets regardless of aspect. @@shadow200343 All aspect doesn't mean "works literally the exact same from every direction", it just means means the seeker is cooled and sensitive enough to work *at all* from directions other than directly behind the target, it doesn't mean you can lock onto a prop from front at 20km
0:43 I had something similar. My older GPU had some heavy coil whine back then, and whenever I looked at enemies in certain games it would get more intense, letting me know where people are.
I've come to realize that actually trailing with the launch aim helps the missile track high aspect targets because the missile gets its heavy turning done at low speed before it's built up a huge amount of KE, and it's already turning in the direction it'll need to turn more, rather than trying to straighten out and then counter-turn hard. Might just be a game oddity, but hopefully that helps with those goofy spaz-miss shots that happen sometimes
Spookston: The War Thunder community knows me for two things Me: CAS Spookston: Absolutely despising planes Me: And HSTVL- Spookston: and affinity for small and rat-like vehicles
Gotta love that SPAA or AA in games is routinely terrible against air vehicles and have no range. But the air vehicle can see an individual person on the ground and nail the target with impunity.
This thing will be an absolute beast when the building stuff comes to war thunder, like having a way to replenish your ammo without going to a CAP zone is going to be a really buff for SPAA like this one
One thing I noticed when firing FIM 92K against CAS is that they're better off fired in advance of where the aircraft is headed to, often happens when the CAS passes or already passed near your ground position, hits like 90% of the time. They're not quite reliable head-on, only when they've already passed or when they're heading towards the direction of your POV.
Btw a tip for using the ozelot is waiting for the planes to do their attack run so when their flying away theres a less likely chance their paying attention to SPAA
As a player with this being my moat used tank in the game by a longshot, Stingers have a lot of small bugs and really could use a tange buff, especially against helicopters at the br, the IRST is great for passive air detection with both the search and lock not alerting any aircraft, and the best way to fire is to aim up more so you get the ground clear and your missile doesn’t try to lead into the ground.
Hey Spooks :D I know I'm a little late to the party, but I know why our stingers act all weird with drone. The reason is the IR seeker / tracker on it identifies the smaller drones as an object that is much larger than they are, this causes the missile to overcorrect or under correct and the proximity fuse to not be engaged. Have a great day :D Love the vid
what's good about the Ozelot (for me Anyways) is its Missile seems to be immune to flares if you manage to lock onto the aircraft, unless you can spit out tons of flares in a few secs the Missile will always hit the Aircraft
