Majin Vegeta wasn’t really about it being a fair fight or close fight. It was Vegeta’s tantrum finally coming to fruition and him finally accepting being second fiddle. Instead of thinking about how superior he was, it provided him with the opportunity to bridge the gap between himself and Goku. The whole fight was him basically whaling out in anger that he wasn’t as strong as he thought he was.

@maltheri9833 he thought he had bridged the gap between him and Goku. Goku turning SSJ3 is a retcon. When the manga for Goku and Vegeta fighting came out, SSJ3 didn’t even exist. Akira Toriyama admitted that he completely made it up like a week before Goku turned it. So technically, in their fight, they were evenly matched.

Remember, Goku planned to defeat Vegeta quickly, hence why he immediately entered Super Saiyan 2. The only reason the battle dredged on further was because Vegeta had Super Saiyan 2, too. If Goku had been dead set and completely confident that his defeating of Vegeta and Gohan/Shin's defeating of Dabura/Babidi was going to prevent the resurrection, then he would have won instantly. The only reason he held back was because he needed the extra time to teach Goten and Trunks Fusion as a contingency.
It wasn’t just because he has SSJ2, it was because he used the artificial boost that comes from the Majin influence. He would not have stood a chance against Goku without it.
He "held back" because Toriyama hadn't invented SSJ 3 yet, he didn't create that form until Goku went to stall Buu and he was like "shit, if Vegeta got owned so will Goku.....NEW FORM." Goku having SSJ vs Vegeta as an option is a retcon because when he wrote that fight it wasnt.

Well, as a SSJ3 he could 1 shot Vegeta if he wanted, so thats definitly a possibility. Plus this Goku's body was still dead, so he would not suffer the effects of SSJ3 in the same way that his live body did against Kid Buu. He would however still waste a good deal of his 24 hrs on Earth. The entire fight could have been avoided though had Goku just gone SSJ3 right at the start, Vegeta would be completly crushed, that even with Babidi's help, he was still no match for Goku, and it was not even close. I dont believe even Majin Vegeta would have tried to fight Goku as a SSJ3 if Goku did it right away, he would have given up and just asked Goku to kill him, as he would feel forever defeated and ashamed at that point. Of course Goku would not kill him, but Vegeta would have just given up imo sensing that Goku was several magnitudes stronger then him. This scenario would have totally prevented the birth of Buu in the first place and ended the Arc right there.
He would only need one hit to take out Vegeta anyway.

The funny thing is that in theory, Goku going SSJ 3 from the jump would result in him using *less* energy when fighting Vegeta. He probably could've downed him in a few good hits at that level and then made his way over to Buu (or try to convince Vegeta to team up).
The form itself would’ve used up Goku’s time and energy. SSJ2 is much more efficient, while SSJ3 acts more like a gas guzzler. There’s no way Goku would’ve had enough time/energy to defeat Vegeta and Buu. He’d have to leave Earth before wearing Buu down enough to win. However, if they moved the fight to the world of the kais, then he would have had no time limit.

Buu wouldn't have hatched at that point. Remember, it was Goku's and Vegeta's fight that woke Buu up. If Goku went 3, the fight would've ended quickly. Babidi then had to rely on Dabura in fighting Gohan to gather the energy.

No he wouldn't of.. Just transforming into that form alone is a tremendous amount of energy, sure he would of decked vegeta but it wouldn't of been a 1 second fight so I don't think the energy exhausted would of been worth it, goku was right to preserve.

I disagree with Vegeta being "more motivated than ever" after this. Vegeta worked so hard and for so long to just get near Goku's strength and even then he needed Babidi's boost to match Goku. If Goku showed that he can go 4x beyond that Vegeta would have probably just stopped fighting and given up right there.

@@wooly9976actually the other guy is right Vegeta at that point was desperate to close the gap and he was highly emotional at that time due to Humiliate after humiliation, the loss of his people, becoming Human amd etc. One of the other reasons why i think goku didn't use Super Saiyan 3 is because he wanted Vegeta to keep his pride as after Vegeta found out when he came back to life you know what he did? he didn't want to have anything to do with goku and only came around when Goku gave him a reality check that they may lose their home world again (comparing Planet Vegeta to Earth). If Goku went SS3 Vegeta would be fed up with the whole situation even further humiliated by the fact that for a good portion of the fight Goku held back on him for what he'll assume would be pity. In this scenario where Buu is defeated and Goku is gone again he'll fall apart just like he did in the Cell Saga but only far worse.

Goku was even holding back in SSJ 2. Toriyama wasn't subtle about this. Goku, at multiple points, lets Vegeta hit him let's Vegeta fight dirty. Vegeta was going all out. Goku, in more ways than just transformation, wasn't.

The reason he didn't go SSJ3 is because Toriyama didn't come up with it yet.

@@StarkZakussj3 was too risky to use against vegeta it was an untested form. If it failed goku would have died for good. He used ssj2 because goku decided the risk wasn't worth it. He had to go ssj3 against buu because he had no choice ssj2 had no chance
So yes goku held back only because he decided that was the smart thing to do.
That just shows you how good the writers are at spinning the narratives.
@@StarkZaku Besides Goku, Vegeta is the person in the series with the best knowledge of how super saiyan works. It's likely Vegeta would have seen through SSJ3's drawbacks and just bought his time on the defensive until Goku ran out of energy, rendering him helpless. Just blitzing Vegeta in SSJ3 would have been a gigantic gamble, especially since Goku didn't know the extent of Vegeta's new Majin power.
@@shmeebs387 to be fair vegeta pnly learned of the drawbacks of grade 2 and 3 from actually training with it. Vegeta didnt know anything about ssj3 until he got wind of it in the afterlife (hence why he didnt want to fuse with goku again to fight kid buu). Even with super sayian, he only had knowledge of the legend itself, which was missing pieces. Goku would have blitzed him. Now would he have done it a second time? Nah cause vegeta might have already figured out how to survive the ki drain.

If he used ssj3 I'm sure he would've run out of time and return to other world, most likely while in the midst of battle, leaving Vegeta alone. Like when he fought Buu in ssj3 and returned to Other World quicker than expected.

Anger isnt the catalyst for super saiyn three the main most relative catalyst for super saiyna 3 was 1 a place with no stamina drain or where time doesnt flow, (other world) and 2 the latent power of the one who wants rhe transformation. Begeta didnt have the latent abilities goku had due to him training in the other word with strong fighters and vegeta being on earth by his self training alone it takes a immense time to power up to super saiyan 3 and the drain is immense

if he used SSJ 3 the fight would be over in one instant,meaning Majin Buu would not even get out of the cocoon .actually Bejita was right when he wanted blow up the ship of Babidi even if Buu resurect in the comotion since he only had Gohan KI, about 1/4 of his KI. beat him was pretty much manageable .

IMO if Vegeta forced Goku to pull out SSJ3, I think the battle could go two ways: (1) goku doesn’t fuck around and takes Vegeta out within minutes to preserve time and energy, or (2) Vegeta gets the W by figuring out the forms weakness in a drawn out battle.
Even if he figures it the gap from a Super Saiyan 2 to 3 is too large we were shown against Trunks that the fight ended with 1 attack , and Goku had enough in the tank to defeat Buu according to him in the Kid Buu fight so defeating Majin Vegeta would have been a joke

There's no way Vegeta would ever have enough time or energy to take advantage of the forms weakness. And the gap in power is too large, Vegeta wouldn't stand a chance. Look how long Goku kept it up against Kid Buu, a being possibly stronger than even him at ssj3. Goku can more than hack it
@@Atrain204you want dbz continuity proving the gap is too large. Ssj2 majin vegeta wasn't able to put down fat buu when releasing all his energy at once during his final explosion. Ssj3 goku, while not using absolutely all his energy since he was later able to use ssj3 again to show the kids was confident he could've defeated fat buu, but chose to rely on the next gen instead.
If we go in the technical side, ssj3 is 4x ssj2 and goku and vegeta are evenly match in ssj2. So ssj3 goku would be 4x stronger than vegeta. And when you are 2x stronger than your opponent, you can tank the attack without any damage, without feeling them. Goku isn't stupid, he knows the form is draining. With 1 or 2 hits, he can knock down vegeta or knock him out entirely and move on to the next fight

Maybe. There's a time clock on the form and a penalty with his time on earth summoning the power to use that form. It's not always the strongest who wins.

Vegeta'd just realize he couldn't win, so he'd just agree to go fight buu instead after goku continually kept him down.... Nah. Not in any universe. His anger would be his undoing. His anger would turn to unstable RAGE, and he would do the same thing he did against Buu, and would increase his power to max and explode himself(AKA Pulling A Choutzu[in fact, this is likely where he got the inspiration for this move, having seen Choutzu do this to Nappa back in the day] lolz), because he would be unsure what would happen to him in the aftermath(no Piccolo around to inquire to like in the main time line). Also both he and Goku would be completely unsure what would happen to Goku, if he were to take this attack in the same way Buu did originally, considering his body is already dead, yet not being in the OtherWorld, they wouldn't know if he could regenerate like he would if he were there. Considering it did nearly completely take out Buu, and Goku saying he may have been able to kill Buu in SSJ3, and Buu being similar in power level to SSJ3 Goku, it would do similar damage, but not having a h4x regen ability like Buu, it's all up in the air what the outcome would be. It's anyone's guess, and ultimately its all up to the whims of the Author since there's nothing in canon that anyone could use to make an argument for or against any specific outcome.
But that's what I think is a FAR more likely outcome, rather than a losing Vegeta give up and then give in to reason to team up with Goku(an idea that would come from Goku too, mind you, so essentially being bossed around by Goku in the end), mere moments after him going through the most rage inducing event of his entire life.

They were still evenly matched at the ssj 2 though and it was my favorite fight along with Goku vs Cell.
With no trouble they were able to defeat buu? They almost died. In fact they would have died if it wasn’t for that DB wish that restored Goku’s strength.
That was kid buu and that was when goku let himself lose on purpose to not have vegeta's pride get torn even more so and it's already been confirmed ages ago SS3 Goku < Kid Buu < Fat Buu < Majin Vegeta/ SS2 Vegeta so taking all that I to account Goku going all out against fat buu would've been a one sided fight already especially since he even outright states he was holding back against fat buu since he wanted the next generation to take over as the protectors of earth since he was already dead.

2: vegeta was outraged by the fact goku held back during that important fight, so goku going out would actually be what he wants as a warrior, though he would still be mad that goku is that far ahead.
1. SSJ3 Goku CAN beat Majin Buu and Vegeta (as we saw in his fight with Kid Buu) would be useful in stalling for a spirit bomb if needed. (It probably wouldn’t be though.)

Goku stated he could've killed (fat buu) but knew he was going back to otherworld and wanted the z fighters to take the mantle as earth saviors. Obviously that was a mistake but he stated he could at that time after they first fought
He didn't use SSJ3 because he didn't want to humiliate Vegeta, not because of the energy drain. He didn't know about the energy drain until he fought Buu later in the arc, because he had only used it in Other World.
Not true. This is how things would play out. Goku would start-off completely dominating Vegeta...however, he would quickly use his power up because his stamina in Super Saiyan 3 would drain really fast then Vegeta noticing this, would take more damage willingly in order to force himself up to a wall where he us forced to recover faster and utilise his Saiyan genes to make his Zenkai Boost more effective. This will increase his power level and more than likely push him to the 'next level' Super Saiyan 3! He would transform and beat the shit out of Goku who would be slowly recovering as they are fighting...and is now in Super Saiyan 2 but not at full strength...this is OK because Vegeta is currently not at full strength either...currently, in his condition his Super Saiyan 3 is only a bit stronger than Super Saiyan 2! But strong enough to defeat it outright!

This assumes that Goku doesn’t break out SSJ3 on Vegeta until after Buu is revived, and at that point the fight between them quickly wound down because Goku was too distracted.
If Goku had used SSJ3 against Majin Vegeta even a little earlier in the battle, Buu would never have been revived in the first place. The energy to revive Buu was coming exclusively from the damage Vegeta was dealing to Goku.
If Goku goes SSJ3, Vegeta doesn’t deal anymore damage, so Buu’s revival never comes to pass.
Vegeta would’ve been so pissed that he ascended to ss3 right there and the fight would’ve continued from there. That’s facts!

The time and energy used to 2-4 shot Majin Vegeta would have been less than the time spent: Fighting Vegeta, taking a dirt nap, and a more prolonged SSJ3 fight against Buu. Heck, he might have been able to actually enjoy a couple of hours of his visit! But the real reason in case people don't know: Toriyama hadn't figured out what/if SSJ3 was a thing by the time of the fight lol.

No we do know, it's just irrelevant. Vegeta needed the majin boost to be even with Goku, and the ssj3 was still created and the narrative blatantly establishes Goku held back ssj3 with Vegeta. So it doesn't matter if ssj3 wasn't created until later. The narrative establishes Goku had it all along, so as far as the dbz verse is concerned, that's how it is.
