In mastered and divine forms he can control how much power he can use. So, Chi-Chi's hits would still hurt against a SSJ3 Goku lol.

I imagined when Goku doing his supreme Kamehameha he would gradually go from ssj3 to 2 to 1 to base as the attack goes on since he would expand his ressources to make sure to defeat buu
For some reason, I was very interested in SSJ3, and it's a shame that the Buu Saga as is didn't explore the form more. I love the idea of Goku finishing Buu off with a full powered SSJ3 Supreme Kamehameha.

I like the idea that the Saiyan tail was crucial to mastering SS3: it keeps the old db content (tail) still relevant instead of phased out and forgotten, it being a requirement to access the true potential of SS3 gives both future potential pathways for growth (SS3 Blue/Kaioken?) AND a vulnerability to exploit to de power later during a future villan arc, on so they aren’t just OP all the time. It’d be nice to see some original saying power being focused on again instead of forgotten in Lieu if God power all the time
Well, I mean in GT Goku in a child body couldn't utilize the form for more than 2/3 minutes at max.
After getting his tail back he could use it way better, the tail helping with the flow of Ki.

Great job with this, man! Super Saiyan 3 is one of my favorite forms in Dragon Ball, but it's a real shame that the drawbacks drag it down.
I have an OC, and he's a Saiyan named Daiko, the son of Fasha/Selypa. And even though I haven't come close to starting to write the story series he's part of, I've already decided that, after unlocking SSJ3 during the battle against Kid Buu, Daiko will suggest trying to master the form, which will get Goku to do the same, and possibly persuade Vegeta to get it so he can master it too.
And I definitely hope that we'll see Super Saiyan 3 being mastered in the official material... but only if the artists/animators have enough time and patience to draw all that hair.

i think the real potential would be in them diversifying the options. I would like to see Vegeta and Goku (and the others) go into different directions more instead of always using the same forms.
The Kaioken was always a thing that set Goku and Vegeta apart. Now MUI is doing the same.
It would have been cool to see Gohan pursue his ultimate form more.
And maybe Vegeta would look at Gohan and realize one of the reasons he always lagged behind Goku was that he ultimately always imitated his techniques and forms. Their fighting styles are different so maybe it would make more sense for him trying to find a way that suits him more.
Maybe while trying to unify Blue and SSJ3 he finds a mixed form or breaks through to SSj4, while Goku tries to find a more usable version of the Ultra instinct that is somewhere in the middle between super saiyan god and MUI.
Dunno - DBZ always ended up streamlining the options down to one go-to form. Would like to see more variety and individual styles.

My theory on this was if he could control the form, his hair would shorten to about ss4 length. I like to think his hair is a parallel to his power leak. Ssj2 had a tighter spiked hair than ssj1. Yeah, a bit of an odd way of looking at it, but when I saw ssj4, I always felt it was Goku trying to channel ssj3, which was his highest form up to that point, but because he was able to control it, he pushed to ssj4. Just my thoughts. What you think @saiyansalad

YES! It is about time Super did something different. Enough Power-up transformations, it is becoming too predicatble by this point. Atleast have Goku and/or Vegeta master one of their previous transformation.
I mean come on, SSJ3 was made and introduced to show that there is a power beyond and far stronger than SSJ2. The logical thing to do is train and work out its flaw, like in this WHiM. They did it to SSJ, so why not SSJ3?

All Goku needs to do is exactly what he did with Super Saiyan 1, he and young Gohan especially had the exact same problem and they didn't have to hold in the energy or anything like that. They just worked on maintaining the form until it felt as natural as breathing, and as a consequence the strain and energy leak subsided.

Goku training with beerus changes alot , goku well learn haki and blue evolution while vegeta gets ultra instinct.
In all reality their personalities wouldn't align with this path, Goku has always focused more on techniques than raw power, while Vegeta has never really bothered with anything other than gaining raw strength, Goku would still tend more towards technique and ultra instinct, while Vegetas personality would tend more towards the raw destructive power of G.O.D

The scene on the world of the kais made me think of something. What if buu didn’t follow then to the world of the kais? So the z fighters (what’s left of them) are training with the kais to be able to defeat buu. They can’t bring the earth back yet because buu will destroy it, and they aren’t confident in their ability to destroy it. At least until beerus wakes up.
Love this video! SS3 is one of my favorite transformations. I would love to see this form perfected. If Goku and Vegeta don’t want to use it it would be great if Goten and Trunks learn how to perfect all the transformation especially SS3 and find another form

This is an idea I had:
What if, in battle of gods, instead of introducing super saiyan god only for it to then be replaced by super saiyan blue, which itself became kinda useless, they perfected super saiyan 3.
What I mean is that like with blue in the manga, goku absorbs his aura and wastes no ki with super saiyan 3, powering it up and eliminating the stamina drain, but requiring complete focus and could hurt the body if any ki leaks out, sorta like kaioken, so ssj2 is used as a more safe but weaker option.
So while super saiyan 3 is their most powerful form, it also comes with the added risk of damaging the body, until the ToP where goku and vegeta can now freely use it.
Perfected super saiyan 3 could be used aswell since goku can now use super saiyan 3 without stamina drain, but with the higher power comes higher risk.
And god ki could be made more special, with ultra ego and instinct utilizing it.
The art style ar 2:01 and 3:29 for the SS3 is rather nice, anyone else wishing the entire anime had those styles instead of the more simplified one?
I’ve been working on my own character and part of the idea is “mastered ssj3” except I hate the long hair so how it works in my story is the regular ssj3 is Unmastered but when you master it it’ll look like the SSJ3 concept art with short hair and a tail...

@GoDlyguy That's a lie, if he had a low potential, he'd be no match for characters like Hit. Goku would end up killing Buu, in Super he would do better against Beerus on King Kai's planet, but still lose. Goku becomes SSJG and they fight again. Nothing changes in Resurrection Of F. Nothing changes in Future Trunks arc. In the TOP Gohan would probably be knocked out by Toppo. Frieza gets knocked out by Dyspo because of his speed. However, to help Goku and Vegeta, 17 explodes, knocking off Toppo and Dyspo. Just like in the manga, Goku and Vegeta fight together damaging Jiren. Jiren goes full power and tries to knock off Vegeta but 17 holds it off. Goku and Vegeta fight together again with 17 as backup. Goku Vegeta and Jiren fall off, and 17 wins.

The ssj3 form has a similar draw back is similar to the top tiers of kaioken, just with less physical damage. Just using the full power when needed rather than at all times being in top form the full time

GT says the only way to master SSJ3 is to have a tail. Let’s make an actual story of Raditz returning with SSJ3 against Goku struggling with SSJ3 himself to fight Raditz than switches to SSGSS to defeat him and Goku figures out a way to grow back his tail to not let his guard down like that again.

Since super saiyan blue is "god ki + super saiyan" do you think the mastery of super saiyan 3 would introduce a new form of super saiyan god? Like a God ki +super saiyan 3? If so would this new power rival that of autonomous ultra instinct or would it only make ultra instinct that much stronger?
eh, I'd say a ssjb 3 or whatever would only be 8x stronger than regular blue, nowhere near UI, and it wouldn't really make UI stronger since UI has nothing to do with saiyan forms.

I think the answer is pretty clear: Buu would get stomped.
It's worth pointing out that against Cell, Goku had both a higher powerlevel and a new 'form' of Super Saiyan. Previously he was below Androids 16, 17, and 18; now he's stronger than Perfect Cell's Heavily Held Back Power.
Whether Goku mastered Super Saiyan 2 is unknown, but there's an argument for it since he does learn Super Saiyan 3 and all of the other saiyans figure out the Mastered Super Saiyan state, though it's never pointed out.
Anyway, so, we know SS3 has the massive ki and stamina issues. Goku might've been able to beat Fat Buu (I say no, based on his reactions to Super Buu and the fact that Super Buu and Fat Buu should theoretically have the same strength because they have the same fusees), but he absolutely could've beat Kid Buu had he the stamina to maintain the form and had he gone all out and not worried about giving Vegeta a chance. So a Goku who trained for another six months and mastered the form would theoretically be 1) stronger powerlevel and 2) negligible issues. Kid buu gets stomped.
Problem? There's no time to actually do that training during the arc. It would've had to have been done before hand. And that would also mean that he should've curbstomped Vegeta even more, like, Vegeta shouldn't even get to be sneaky and steal a win.
Food for thought: Vegeta using all his ki AND lifeforce wasn't enough to defeat Fat Buu, but he came VERY close. If Vegeta and Goku had worked together, they probably could've beaten him after a very hard battle, without having to go SS3.
goku could always beat fat buu, he just wanted to make sure that the future generation could handle threats like buu which is why he didn't destroy him.
Plus super buu is very clearly stronger, probably due to the fact that he isn't being held back by supreme grand kai's kindness.

1st Version - Ssj3 Grade 1/The current ssj3: Has no eyebrows
2nd Version Ssj3 Grade 2/Perfected Ssj3: Has eyebrows & blank eyes or has multiplier more than x4(I thought of that as an extra feature)
I believe ssj 3 can't be achieved by normal people and only dead people and fusions were able to use it

This is an awesome video. Mastering SSJ3 really is useful and effective. If Goku snd Vegeta can mastered the SSJ forms, then SSJ3 should be easy

It would be more like Full Power Super Saiyan 3 at first. Mastered means complete control over the form without having to do anything to keep the form like how Goku did with Super Saiyan. After that when they don't have to focus their Ki and just do it subconsciously then yes it is Mastered Super Saiyan 3 or Mastered Full Power Super Saiyan 3.
They can master ssj blue so why not

Since Super Saiyan Blue is a combination of god ki & Super Saiyan, I think that it's possible that Goku & Vegeta would try to combine god ki with Super Saiyan 3.

If Goku mastered this form he would have realised it wasn’t enough more so since he would try to find ways to improve in case someone else shows up like if Beerus showed up a bit earlier and he needed a better way to fight back like since he would have full control over SSJ3 to the point it literally doesn’t drain anything he can use Kaioken and multipliers to push himself further

Sometimes I wish he mastered all his saiyan forms to the degree where he could use them with no stamina loss or strain on the body, would make them more relavent imo
