    Having over 5 decades of experience but not calling myself a pro, I loved the faster pace. So many vids are geared for total beginners and I respect that but finding inspiration for the experienced crocheter is a lengthy hunting expedition. I loved this pattern and the yarn is to die for. Hoping you sell it and of course hoping it's affordable. Yarn seems to be climbing the same ladder craft supplies have. Such a senseless shame everything is a game of greed. Thx so much for the tutorials.

    • @SecretYarnery
      @SecretYarnery  5 років тому +1

      Thanks Lynda! I feel that by the time a crocheter is ready to make garments - even if they are complete beginners - can manage the pause button. Listen to the words... watch the general stitches... hit pause. Do the stitches... press play. ;)

      For a beginner you are going way too fast at the start of the foundation change and I don't understand how you get that first bit even. I don't think the title should be for begginners unless you slow down and move the camera a lot closer.

    Would this poncho fit a 2xl ? If not do you have a suggestion as to how many starting chains I should make? Thank you!

    Tried the foundation row with size 6 hook and 4 medium (Aran) wool and 60 stitches worked up to 21 inches. Also tried chaining 60 and doing single crochet and it turned out 17 inches! I know it’s meant to be 181/2 inches and I’m a learner so don’t want to change the number of stitches. Any advice?

    Afraid to start, so many questions asked but never answered, and for me as well, neck seems rather small to go over head, but thanks for sharing.

    Hi, I’m just wondering if this is for an adult or child ? In other videos I’ve seen they are saying you need yo stitches for a 12 year old. I went to try that over her head last night & im not sure that it would fit for too long. I’m unsure on what to do about this, do you have any suggestions at all please ?

    How many to start if I want to make it for a child? 8 to 9 years old? Or would I have to change the beginning all together?

      My question too. This is not a beginner pattern and she goes so fast it is hard to get to the right place when you pause and go back. This is the 1st video of hers I have watched. The poncho is beautiful but I don't think I'll be a follower of hesr, she's to advanced and does not want to deal with beginners apparently.

      @@SecretYarnery I meant to say hood
      I saw a video on how to add a hood but it was on a child poncho maybe it’s just the same idea and I’m
      Not sure never made one of these ..
      so if I was to buy say sport yarn right would
      I still follow along the same way in your video or would things have to be change? It generally the same concept how to make this right ?

    Is there a written pattern for the poncho?

  • @denisewinant6366
    @denisewinant6366 5 років тому

    Ok I'm confused. Towards the end (I think 35 minutes or so) you started the boxes row. Chain 5 to start that row, double crochet in same space, double crochet into next stitch. Shouldn't there be a ch 1 in between?

    hi Crista , posting my question second time regarding a bigger poncho size . is 60 chainsfor a plus size poncho good or if need increase how do i go about it . thanks for your help .waiting to start..my firt ever poncho

    • @SecretYarnery
      @SecretYarnery  3 роки тому

      Hi Shirley! 60 chains is what goes around your head... I haven't made a plus size poncho, but imagine a couple increase rows along the front would be helpful to keep the comfort level maxed.

      @@SecretYarnery dont quite understand couple rows increase .... . as i am new to wool crochet .. till date i have only done thread crochet .and crocheted doilys .and followed written patterns . if i increase the beginning chain to 66 , 72 , etc etc as i am a plus size will that help or what

    How many inches should i stich if ones shoulder length is 17 inches?

  • @amym709
    @amym709 2 роки тому

    Hi Christa. I love this pattern but I’m stuck on row 6. What is the stitch multiple? Will any even number work for the starting chain? I started with a chain of 80 but once I get to the point on row 6 I’m off a stitch. I should be working in the stitch right before the point but that’s not what’s happening. I wonder if my starting chain is the problem.
    Any advice would be very much appreciated!
