Congrats on your sales!! When I first opened my shop I got a sale 30 hrs after I listed the item .. I was so excited. I am around 100 days since then and have around 23 sales so not amazing but I don’t think bad either lol Good luck with the rest of your challenge!
I am LOVING following along on your new shop launch journey! I've been making my own mugs and tumblers for a few months now, and was wanting to expand into shirts as well but the startup cost for inventory was getting me down. I then discovered POD and found your channel and I have been watching all your videos and taking SO MANY notes, my husband thinks I'm crazy (in a good way, he's so supportive of me trying this out!). Do you think that it's a good strategy to do the same quote design I'm just going to say an example - "My daddy is a cop but first he's my hero" and change the professions so that there could potentially be 10,20 or more listings? I thought about it and then I thought would that just be an off put people coming to the shop and seeing what at fieat glance looks like duplications. Would love to know what you think Heather. Did you say up did 5 items in 30 minutes? what witchcraft is this? sometimes I could work for 10-20hrs and get in maybe 3 if i am lucky it just takes forever to create, printify info, etsy info, mock ups. it doesn't sound like alot but i swear it an all day event, especially if you don't have ideas right away. Plus i have 3 kids, one that is 4 so i get lots of interruptions and even if i don't have any it takes all day.
I did say this and it's not always 30 minutes- that'd just my goal but in this video you'll see I only did 5 listings in 30 minutes once or twice out of the first 7 days haha! 😅

Your lunch today: I noticed your Dave's English muffin packaging straight away, nice choice. Now, the jelly - eh. Can you do sliced strawberries? Or if you're in a time jam, ditch the jelly you're using (second ingredient: high fructose corn syrup yuck) and swap for bionature organic wild berry fruit spread. No added sugar and contains a few different berries for variety. And even my kids love it :) Bonus: add a sprinkling of chia seeds on top. I'm a nutritional consultant finding my way through Etsy and life, thanks again for all you do Heather!!
Wait, do you have to put in the order from Etsy in to Printify yourself? I haven't started my own shop yet but are studying youtube-videos about it and no one has ever said this before. I thought it was automated. If you actually have to do it manually maybe you could do a video about that? Good luck with your new store!
I was wondering....do you have a system for recording what graphic elements have gone into your designs and where they've been licensed, in case you get challenged with a violation? I'm thinking it might be hard months or even years down the road to remember that sort of stuff.

We have different seasons and different blessings. I'm like 15 years older than you. I'm not a digital native like you. I've always worked and hustled hard but your generation has amazing opportunities we didn't have. You have tons of free time to hustle and you should take advantage of that and appreciate it. And you look like you are. 😊 I'm a wife and a pregnant homeschool mom of 4. No nanny or family closeby to babysit so my life is super busy and sometimes chaotic. I'm still trying really hard to get my store running smoothly. I'm in the top 15% but my store is older than yours. 😂 I just don't have the free time to execute all the amazing things I've learned at once. But I'm determined to get there. In the meantime I'm beyond blessed to have the beautiful and amazing family that I have... that I almost didn't have. The major point is that you have to thrive in whatever season of life you're in. And count your blessings while you pursue your next goal.
I really like the content and also just launched a shop. My main constructive criticism/ask is to make your AUDIO more consistent. I had to adjust volume ~10 times because it went quiet to loud so fast, and when you sat your cup down, it was so loud, I jumped. I don't mind the run and go visuals at all, though, just the sound.

First of all on congratz on the first 2 sales ! good to see your daily issues. i think everyone can relate to that. everyone is happy when they hear the cha ching. but when were working . were something have problems finding motovation . what are the actual profit each sale . so we can compare the ad spent with the profit. we all see reveneu numbers. and now that i got my own digital store (hit 1000 sales on 06-07-2023 . i know reveneu and money in the bank is a lot different. keep up the goodwork. i love the real heather
I meant to ask this question in my last comment, but what are your thoughts on using Instagram for marketing? I noticed you mentioned it in this video but I have heard it could hurt your shop if you aren’t marketing a specific niche to that specific audience. My shop is only shirts and sweatshirts but in a handful of different niches. Do you think it’s true that if you get more views from Instagram but they don’t buy, it could lower your conversion rate and mess up your algorithm?

I am definitely floating the line of transparency and almost exposing my new shop and am being very careful with each video I post/blurring or whiting out info. Same here, it takes me 2 hours atleast to do mock-ups alone. It’s a long cycle of downloading, uploading, resizing, then finally uploading to Etsy. I’ll get there, it just takes time to master a new skill!
Congratulations Heather!! I’m so happy for you. Is there a notification bell that alerts us a sales went through or waiting for us to push through if custom??? I’m in same place of spending hours and still waiting on sales. I’m trying other products besides t-shirts. I was so happy and motivated in the beginning, but I am starting to feel like I am on a hamster wheel! I am a single mom-schools out, so I don’t have much free time. I’m a nurse also-who gets too invested and emotionally attached just as you’ve said and it creates so much stress and anxiety for me as well! I get views, but no sales. I want to start personalized baby blankets, but there isn’t many videos or I can’t find them…maybe 2 good ones. If you know of one can you or anyone reading this put link or help me please!! I’m not sure if I can use CF patterns or if best to use clip art and make seamless patterns? I’m afraid to use a downloaded one bc we aren’t able to move elements or color unless we go to Photopea with some designs it will allow us to move some elements and colors. CF word cloud only allows one font, so idk where ppl are getting those from? And the ones with so the child’s name randomly on it-do they just use a blank art board-add a color background and use a “name” and once ordered go back in and change all names? This would a great tutorial (hint, hint) 😂I know I’ve just asked A LOT of questions but if you have any suggestions please let me know what you do or would if creating a custom blanket. I don’t have extra $ for ads or printify premium yet without being in the negative even more (tool subscriptions) and to try and get any sales I am basically breaking even as is, but idk how people are listening products so cheap! And it’s not just their smallest shirt or even kids clothes. I can tell it’s pod also. Maybe they are trying same thing break even, but they have hundreds of sales? I’d think they would increase their prices? One shop is a few months old and they only have 14 total designs and one listing per design and they have over 1,500 sales and 95% has been from 2 products!! Idk what I am doing wrong and it’s frustrating not knowing how to design for more than shirts or mugs. That’s usually what most tutorials are. I keep watching videos that tell us to sale other stuff, but not too many tutorials and being new it’s hard to figure it all out, so IF someone buys it…it won’t look hideous and color/resolution blurry!! Anyway, any help I would appreciate and I would say it’s fair to say by this time you’ve made a lot more sales so congratulations again! Nice to see you smiling!!
Also when you say 5 listings do you mean 5 different listings with SEO (photos, Audience, titles, tags ect) or 5 designs. Please forgive me if that is a stupid question. I’m assuming 5 listings with all different SEO, but I know you can design quickly too from watching your videos
Thank you!! This is a great question! I turn off all notifications on my phone and devices- the reason why is due to low productivity and increased stress(from maybe a notification would be a customer issue when it wasn't) I had with notifications when my shop began getting hourly notifications. I have two degrees in sciences so naturally I had to research into this and found many case studies that phone notifications can impact your brain's chemical dopamine response, productivity and stress levels(one analysis article here but there are plenty more over the internet on this: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4912993/). Long paragraph to say hence why I don't have notifications turned on for my phone with anything related to Etsy or 'work' and for those who may be getting a lot of sales and notifications, that's my biggest pro tip to turn them off and get into the habit of checking your shop maybe 2X a day- you'll be much happier. Not to say it's for everyone- but this was a big learning curve for me at least!

As of right now I’m at 10+ different products and the top performing item is not apparel. I am not doing 1:1 at this moment due to a vacation coming up and a few other events this summer. I do have my free POD crash course and also Print on Demand Academy that you can add on live monthly group coaching/live access too- I’m only doing this for the next 6 months and am looking to transition this to offering this next year for monthly group mentorship, tutorials,and workshops next year. I still offer free trainings and masterclasses though outside of that!💕

When creating your new account you didnt get a immediate suspension ? Everyone is complaining about that i know i did i had to wait 11 days and then also being on reserve.
Usually it's not an immediate suspension. A lot of people don't get this and some people do. I think Etsy is aware of this as I've had less issues personally through having a lot of students just starting this and also previous subscribers who have been left 'unscathed' haha. Also to note, my new shop isn't suspended yet! *knocks on wood*
Congrats on your first week of success. We've had our shop for about 5 months and we've only had one sale that's been out of the family. You're video is inspirational and we're hoping that we can find a way to get our shop moving

Heather Etsy and I just got into it. I got an auto email yesterday that I am at risk and a 45 day hold on my funds because my shop now has a hold on it. I started 2 years ago and suddenly stopped due to the pandemic and becoming homeless. Fast forward 2023. I started in February. Printable digital downloads made 1st sale even ran ads. Never no problem. I am not a new store. It is June. I switched it over to print on demand. I am working on Etsy #2 for digital. This store 1 month in I paid for ads and Printify. I had an injury to my foot. So, very behind. I caught up by listing a lot. I now have 66 listings. I literally paid the bill with Printify. They say they cannot tell me the reason. All I freaking did was switch. I mass loaded listings I guess to them? The most I did was the other day about 20. I have listed maybe no more than 5 probably in the past. But I was listing every day grinding hard. I was so freaking proud of myself. I have traffic its climbing. Getting clicks and paying money to Etsy. I should get sales soon. I had one set of patterns, which is 12 in a set. So, I created about 4 products times about 6-8 patterns. It looks amazing. I also have to catch up Ebay to match Etsy. I am doing this today. I am in complete shock. If I pay Printify I got no money. I understand about returns. Printify will need money for that. And Etsy will take it. Everywhere I sell, it is automatic you agree up front will take money from your bank account if a return. How can I sell and operate on Etsy now 45 days on every freaking sale?

I just started my shop, I have very few visits and no sales or reviews, would you recommend starting etsy ads?
I meant to ask this question in my last comment, but what are your thoughts on using Instagram for marketing? I noticed you mentioned it in this video but I have heard it could hurt your shop if you aren’t marketing a specific niche to that specific audience. My shop is only shirts and sweatshirts but in a handful of different niches. Do you think it’s true that if you get more views from Instagram but they don’t buy, it could lower your conversion rate and mess up your algorithm?

Thanks for this comment and reminder! I had a few people look over this video before posting to make sure no information was shared but when editing I was kicking myself. I am definitely floating the line of transparency and almost exposing my new shop and am being very careful with each video I post/blurring or whiting out info. Same here, it takes me 2 hours atleast to do mock-ups alone. It’s a long cycle of downloading, uploading, resizing, then finally uploading to Etsy. I’ll get there, it just takes time to master a new skill!

Congratulations Heather!! I’m so happy for you. Is there a notification bell that alerts us a sales went through or waiting for us to push through if custom??? I’m in same place of spending hours and still waiting on sales. I’m trying other products besides t-shirts. I was so happy and motivated in the beginning, but I am starting to feel like I am on a hamster wheel! I am a single mom-schools out, so I don’t have much free time. I’m a nurse also-who gets too invested and emotionally attached just as you’ve said and it creates so much stress and anxiety for me as well! I get views, but no sales. I want to start personalized baby blankets, but there isn’t many videos or I can’t find them…maybe 2 good ones. If you know of one can you or anyone reading this put link or help me please!! I’m not sure if I can use CF patterns or if best to use clip art and make seamless patterns? I’m afraid to use a downloaded one bc we aren’t able to move elements or color unless we go to Photopea with some designs it will allow us to move some elements and colors. CF word cloud only allows one font, so idk where ppl are getting those from? And the ones with so the child’s name randomly on it-do they just use a blank art board-add a color background and use a “name” and once ordered go back in and change all names? This would a great tutorial (hint, hint) 😂I know I’ve just asked A LOT of questions but if you have any suggestions please let me know what you do or would if creating a custom blanket. I don’t have extra $ for ads or printify premium yet without being in the negative even more (tool subscriptions) and to try and get any sales I am basically breaking even as is, but idk how people are listening products so cheap! And it’s not just their smallest shirt or even kids clothes. I can tell it’s pod also. Maybe they are trying same thing break even, but they have hundreds of sales? I’d think they would increase their prices? One shop is a few months old and they only have 14 total designs and one listing per design and they have over 1,500 sales and 95% has been from 2 products!! Idk what I am doing wrong and it’s frustrating not knowing how to design for more than shirts or mugs. That’s usually what most tutorials are. I keep watching videos that tell us to sale other stuff, but not too many tutorials and being new it’s hard to figure it all out, so IF someone buys it…it won’t look hideous and color/resolution blurry!! Anyway, any help I would appreciate and I would say it’s fair to say by this time you’ve made a lot more sales so congratulations again! Nice to see you smiling!!

Also when you say 5 listings do you mean 5 different listings with SEO (photos, Audience, titles, tags ect) or 5 designs. Please forgive me if that is a stupid question. I’m assuming 5 listings with all different SEO, but I know you can design quickly too from watching your videos

Thank you!! This is a great question! I turn off all notifications on my phone and devices- the reason why is due to low productivity and increased stress(from maybe a notification would be a customer issue when it wasn't) I had with notifications when my shop began getting hourly notifications. I have two degrees in sciences so naturally I had to research into this and found many case studies that phone notifications can impact your brain's chemical dopamine response, productivity and stress levels(one analysis article here but there are plenty more over the internet on this: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4912993/).
Long paragraph to say hence why I don't have notifications turned on for my phone with anything related to Etsy or 'work' and for those who may be getting a lot of sales and notifications, that's my biggest pro tip to turn them off and get into the habit of checking your shop maybe 2X a day- you'll be much happier. Not to say it's for everyone- but this was a big learning curve for me at least!

As of right now I’m at 10+ different products and the top performing item is not apparel. I am not doing 1:1 at this moment due to a vacation coming up and a few other events this summer. I do have my free POD crash course and also Print on Demand Academy that you can add on live monthly group coaching/live access too- I’m only doing this for the next 6 months and am looking to transition this to offering this next year for monthly group mentorship, tutorials,and workshops next year. I still offer free trainings and masterclasses though outside of that!💕

When creating your new account you didnt get a immediate suspension ? Everyone is complaining about that i know i did i had to wait 11 days and then also being on reserve.
Usually it's not an immediate suspension. A lot of people don't get this and some people do. I think Etsy is aware of this as I've had less issues personally through having a lot of students just starting this and also previous subscribers who have been left 'unscathed' haha. Also to note, my new shop isn't suspended yet! *knocks on wood*

We had a few editing issues prior to posting this so you may have gotten a premiere notification- this was not on purpose by any means as we had to edit one bit out of the video along with this video was supposed to be released today and it was scheduled for the wrong day. Heather Etsy and I just got into it. I got an auto email yesterday that I am at risk and a 45 day hold on my funds because my shop now has a hold on it. I started 2 years ago and suddenly stopped due to the pandemic and becoming homeless. Fast forward 2023. I started in February. Printable digital downloads made 1st sale even ran ads. Never no problem. I am not a new store. It is June. I switched it over to print on demand. I am working on Etsy #2 for digital. This store 1 month in I paid for ads and Printify. I had an injury to my foot. So, very behind. I caught up by listing a lot. I now have 66 listings. I literally paid the bill with Printify. They say they cannot tell me the reason. All I freaking did was switch. I mass loaded listings I guess to them? The most I did was the other day about 20. I have listed maybe no more than 5 probably in the past. But I was listing every day grinding hard. I was so freaking proud of myself. I have traffic its climbing. Getting clicks and paying money to Etsy. I should get sales soon. I had one set of patterns, which is 12 in a set. So, I created about 4 products times about 6-8 patterns. It looks amazing. I also have to catch up Ebay to match Etsy. I am doing this today. I am in complete shock. If I pay Printify I got no money. I understand about returns. Printify will need money for that. And Etsy will take it. Everywhere I sell, it is automatic you agree up front will take money from your bank account if a return. How can I sell and operate on Etsy now 45 days on every freaking sale?
