Thanks so much for your honest and down to Earth approach to your new store Shimmy. I am currently building a WooCommerce store (Shopify I think is too expensive to stick to long-term) and it's great to know your approach to starting out. I'm not a designer, so I'm also learning design at the same time as learning how to build a site. It's a pretty steep learning curve. I also don't have as much time each day to put into this, so I'm seeing as something to plod away at each day and have a bit of fun. I'm definitely keen to hear more about your FB ads strategy too - for when I get to that point. Looking forward to your 2 month update.

Very cool video Shimmy. I like the unpolished "off the cuff" approach with odd mistake, followed by a brief correction explanation if you so choose. It keeps it real, and I think it flows better than a perfectly scripted "speech". I think most people (subconsciously) appreciate the human factor, and it helps break down that barrier between yourself and the viewer. And importantly, for me at-least, allowed me to absorb the information you are relaying. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I find it extremely helpful. djh, esq. 🇦🇺🇬🇧

Hey Shimmy, I agree that it's never too late to start a PoD business. However, I believe it's important to consider a very important factor that allowed you to be successful even though you've just launched the shop: your experience in various domains of the PoD ecosystem.🤔

    • @shimmymorris1

That experience came with lots of learning and practice. Something anyone can do

    • @EcomSnif

@@shimmymorris1 Of course , everyone can learn, but not everyone can devote a lot of effort, time, sacrifices, and perseverance. However, the outcome is worth it! I just want to say that newcomers in this field should know that success isn't that simple.
In the domain of cars (which you like, I suppose 😀)an experienced driver can easily adapt to any new model with just a little effort and time. In contrast, a beginner will need much more of both to get to the same level of proficiency.

Question. If you reach your goal of generating $100,000 per month for this one site, then why would you sell it for $1 million? I would think that if you made it to where you are generating that much revenue per month, then you have put in the work to make sure it continues to.
Even after costs, I would think that long term, building your brand with such a strong revenue backing, that you could make far more than $1 million by continuing to nurture it.

If you're really putting that much time, efort and money on ads... for $1.000, you are losing money. The income might come from this video and the links. But as a business on its own, you're losing money. Facebook is making money, true. I'll keep trading stock and let you make me money. $1.600 in a moth in facebook adds? Music to my ears. You want to scale it to 100K a month? Music to my ears, even if you don't succeed. Just 100 people opening their Shopify Stores and running their Facebook adds after watching this video before they realize they should be doing something else? Music to my ears. People trying POD for 10 months and then making a video from their parents bedroom on how to make 100K a year? Music to my ears... keep it rolling...hurray!!! There's always people making money wether you win or lose. If you sit at the table and can't spot the fish in 30 seconds it means you are the fish. I enjoy your videos, I must say $$$

    • @shimmymorris1
      @shimmymorris1  3 місяці тому +2

What on earth are you saying…
It’s very normal for the Facebook algorithm to learn who your customer base is. I’m more profitable every day with sales to ad spend. I started with test ads so it’s very normal to lose a little on that.
By all means keep trading stock. I’ve heard that’s totally risk free 😂
And there’s no links and basically no income from this video.
It’s a startup cost and very normal in business. You gotta spend money to make money.

All the money you spend on advertising, all the add-ons, such as Photoshop, Envato, etc. Then you have got to consider the time you spend doing all this. You have got to keep on producing new designs, then advertising those new designs. Your time spent making UA-cam videos, and editing them. The work doing your spreadsheets. Come on, you don't have enough time in the day to do all this. It all down to making money on UA-cam.

If you don't think so, that's ok, I plan to achieve it, so I will.
In terms of your comment, editing videos - outsourced it, new designs - outsourced it, spreadsheets and managing the P&L - outsourced it... all of a sudden, I seem to have a lot of time in the day to make this work. I'll see you on the other side :D

You have to spend a fortune advertising, and like you have said, out of 110 designs, only 10 were selling. How many designs do you have to put up to start making any money, bearing in mind, you have to advertise those new designs. I am on Zazzle, and have over 3,00 designs on various products, and making sod all, and no my designs are good. You just do not get people going to your store.
