Another great video, thanks! I've just spent Saturday replacing all of the speakers on my xc70 with Focal components. I used a similar method to yourself to mount the tweeters in the front doors.

In case, if you add tweeters to your stock speakers and feel the audio in the front sounds higher. Just use the fader and fade the front a bit. This will balance the overall audio level in your car. Else the rear passengers end up listening nothing and the volume on the front would be high.
I don't like pushing the fader to the front. I keep it in the middle, the bass level is at 0 and the trebles are at +2. I also added a 12 inch sub, Along with that I have premium sound which is amazing. All I did is adjust the equalizer in a V shape, sounds amazing.

Hello yuri, are you going to change the bass of your car as well? I have purchased a pair of JL Audio C5 tweeter for mod and want to see what if the bass is changed as well
Btw, do you know the size of the bass unit? Some online shop claimed that not all bass will match the volvo

I need to replace the passenger-side front speaker on my 2011 volvo S40 T5 because it has began to rattle and this has become quite annoying. BTW, I intend to replace bought front speakers while I am at it. Which speaker brand and model would you recommend.
Awesome video Yuri! Really like the ending as well! You really take care of your Volvo and its so fun to watch :) I'm not asking you to switch, but would you consider any of the V90 models after the XC70? Personally I don't think they look as good as the XC70, but they are kind of luxurious and cool in their own way with lots of new safety features and such.

+Chris Fredriksson I would get the New V90 XC in white. But there is a BUT. Price is too steep in my opinuon. 75,000$ Canadian is way too much. No wonder I have seen zero on the road still.
Thanks! Your car is diesel right? In general, how do you think Volvo’s turbo gas engines (or diesel). Volvo to me means Longevity, Consumer Reports says long term cost of ownership is very low vs. even Jeep. But there are bad reliability comments on Edmunds, for all models & engines. I’m just concerned with the 3litre turbo I6 in the XC70. Is it the same as the S80 3.0 turn 6?

Hi all. @volvosweden, have you calculated that capacitor? 400V is waaay to much, that's why it so big in size (100V would be just fine). And 4.7 micro farad....is a little low, in my opinion. A like from me for your work :). Cheers
Have you thought of adding a "under the seat sub"?
I found one at my parents home, and I'm thinking of adding it. But I don't know where I want it. I would love to put it inside the dashboard somewhere and just connect it on the cables for the door speakers.
But I want you to do it first and do a great video on it 😊

Excellent video. My XC70 door panel woofers are due for replacements. Have you any experience with them? I'm contemplating between Hertz and JBL. Your input would definitely be valuable.

Been watching alot of your vids, mainly because I'm thinking of getting a used 04 xc70. May I ask how tall you are since in this video seeing you sit in the car and how much room you have....
I am 190cm. There is not much room on the back seat. I wish Volvo made second row slide. Not always you need all that cargo space.
My xc60 has blis. Any idea if there is enough space left for this conversion? Nice video.

I've just finished upgrading the sound system in my 2015 xc70. I wish I'd made a video! I put Focal components in the 4 doors, Pioneer TS-WX710A sub under the boot floor behind the spare wheel to not lose boot space and I fitted an Audison 8.9 amp in the boot to power the Focals. I've kept the factory head unit and took an audio feed from the Volvo amp under the front seat to the Audison in the boot. The only issue I had was that I could not find woofer speaker adapters for the xc70. The woofer mounts are an odd shape and so I thought about making an mdf ring but making a shape that fitted looked like a lot of work. In the end I used the Volvo speakers, stripped the centre section out and and fitted the Focals to that. The Focals had a wide basket but this method works well. I also added sound deadening to the doors and boot floor.

How much of the improvement came from the capacitors? In my experience there is a big improvement going from electrolytic caps (like original fit) to the Poly cap that you used with Hertz tweeter.
Should have tested the new caps with the original tweeters to hear the difference. Too late.

You can buy an adapter for your car radio that will work! Or have a newer Volvo like mine (2011 v70) with Bluetooth and colour screen from factory that seamlessly connects each time you get in the car.

It acts as a filter. Filters low frequency.

Hey. I've got Basic sound system in my Volvo. I removed the plastics for tweeters and there are actually no tweeters installed in my configuration. But there are already cables with connectors. Do you maybe know, if I buy tweeters somewhere, should they work, are those cables connected to the radio unit?

Which Volvo and model year do you have? I had a look on VIDA and the
2012 xc70 lists a door wiring harness without and with premium audio.
This implies the same harness is used for base and high performance
audio. Base audio has no tweeters, high performance has the tweeters.
The tweeters are fed from the main speakers in each door. If you take
the door card off and look at the wiring colours on the woofer they
should be the same as the tweeter feed you have found. If you post the
wire colours you have found on here I can also look them up if that
helps?. Does your car have BLIS?
I have VOLVO V70 D5, year 2008.
The MY 2008 V70 shows these wiring colours for the front door tweeters:
Front Right
green/black +ve
grey/black -ve
Front Left
violet/red +ve
yellow/red -ve
The wires to the woofers in the front doors should be the same colours as above too. If you are thinking of adding tweeters to your existing setup it might sound quite bright, it may be worth turning the treble down on the radio or adding additional resistance to each tweeter to quieten it down. A high level mounted tweeter often runs with a 3dB volume cut for this reason.
