The other thing you might want to consider is adding a VPN router. If you do, again run off 12Vdc but it means you can add wireless combined smoke and CO detectors, IP cameras for checking on the wagon while you away from it and your communication back to the van will be encrypted (given you’re going to be in various countries). Again, just let me know if you would like any advice - I have all this up and running myself and means I can watch UK TV when away also

Wow, the boxes of new kit turning up is such an exciting time but there were soooo many boxes in this episode that I felt a bit overwhelmed from this side of the screen. Well done for keeping sane and great to see it coming together so well!

I an surprised Izzy didn't lay into you with your description of the meal - so rude!
So much cardboard; I had masses of boxes when I was fitting out my vans so can understand the lack of space in the truck. I commandeered our spare bedroom.
I do think a small build, whether van or overland vehicle, is far more complex than building a house, especially working out where everything fits. And some of the systems, such as the electrics are more complex as you have, in that instance, a combination of 12 and 230V. Your cold and hot water systems look particularly good and I am really impressed that you are using a combination of a diesel heater as well as heat from the engine. It really does look like the build is coming together.
Thanks for taking the time to make videos of it all as I can imagine it is the last thing you want to be doing, especially when you really want to concentrate on just building.
    All the best.

Fascinating stuff guys. Very impressed with the way it’s coming together. Your heads must be spinning. It’s a classic case of learning and installing kit simultaneously 😮.
Your pasta dish reminds me of something I regularly had as a kid, Phil’s comment reminded me that we nicknamed it macaroni splosh 👍

Hi John, I'm only three weeks behind 🙈
Thank you & yes it's coming together, be it fragmented sometimes.
Lot's of good stuff to come, hopefully on the last 1/4 of the build now 😃 Cheers P&I 🍷🙏

Boxes look great. Nice water tank set up and location. Did you design the baffling in the tank or did the company?

For your heatIng, did you consider the Autoterm 5D Flow hydronic burner? Ours has run very well, almost half the price, and the kit came with so much I had bits left over. They also are the makers of the original 'Planar' diesel air burners that the Chinese copied.

We did, we did loads of research when we bought one for our last truck and rate them highly.
The main reason for opting for an Eberspacher was the spares network.
Although we're hoping the S3 is a little quieter than the older D5. 🙏☺

You might have simplified it for youtube. Do you have thermostatic control on the engine coolant loop? Otherwise water in calorifier will be heated to over boiling by the engine. Does the calorifier also have a 240 or 12v element? What is the volume and where did you get it?

    • @TheGapDecaders
      @TheGapDecaders  2 місяці тому

Hi Derek, apologies for my late reply.
The engine loop will go through a heat exchanger so no concerns, as this shouldn’t exceed 85 degrees.
The calorifier's 40l, has an 240v (1000watt) immersion and made by Surejust.
They come in many different sizes and get excellent reviews.
We’ll easily be able to use this with our system or whilst hooked up to shore power.
      Hope this helps 👍🏻☺
