There's seldom anything more easily sleep inducing than rain on a tin roof. Having snow falling and blocking out the sounds of my surroundings is also something so often unnoticeable until morning that I wake entirely rested. I have camped in the woods, deserts, on the beaches and above treeline for most of my life. I have made campers out of trucks, buses, reefer boxes, drainpipes and tumbled homesites, but my most faithful was a 1963 Chevy wagon to which I added a VistaCruiser roof above the original, adding more than a foot to the seating height inside. What you mentioned in the video about car camping set up being possibly a good option getting in and out the woods when it's soft, I've spent a few years in a 2001 berlingo van set up as a micro camper and the amount of things a vehicle that size does well enough is almost incomparable to anything else..does good mpg being a small diesel, not wide or long so easy to drive anywhere, has enough room to do most things for one person, treat it like a metal tent rather than thinking you don't have enough room to live like you're at home, instead live like you're camping, but you're in a metal tent, I loved it, travelled all around the UK for 2 years with just that setup, not many livable vans will drive to and from the Scottish Highlands to lands end for a hundred quid👌 and you can do normal car speed limits as you're under 1900kg loaded👌 Mine had snow tyres on for Scotland, it went everywhere I pointed it and that was some muddy snowy places!! Roof rack for extra storage, really can't go wrong! Just look for very quiet park ups
Great to see you don't have to spend hundreds of pounds to just go off and chill with fire, food and a beer in the woods away from noise and people Love this little setup.
In England though, it does require being reasonably close to somewhere you can get away with doing this. Wild camping is incredibly difficult unless you go high up in the Lake District fells etc. One of the reasons I find it frustrating living here as getting back to nature is just so much hassle.
Yes, live in rural Oxfordshire and it would impossible to simply drive into the woods and wild camp. That said with the vast population in the South-East ever growing the woods would soon be wrecked if everyone was simply driving through them and camping. @@80PercentScottish
@@80PercentScottish Yeah, the only good thing about living in Carlisle for me is that it's easy to get out of. Plenty of memories of wild camping as a kid, doing the Cumbria Way etc. Didn't even know it was called wild camping... I just thought it was camping lol.

What a clever camping system. Just goes to show you do not need anything elaborate and expensive to have a comfortable camping experience. Super idea as not everyone has an SUV or truck.. One thing you can fit in small places and travel down trails. Love it! You always find the greatest camping equipment Andy. Snug as a bug in a rug. and dry., Better than sleeping on the damp ground when it is raining. Plus you can run a laptop and watch a movie at night using the car battery.. Don't recommend running the car heater incase of unhealthy fumes. Very slick to pack up and get on your way. Great video Andy. Can't wait to see what new products you are going to give a test run. Have been watching some of the Japanese / Korean videos of people that have spent 30k on a purpose built tent, modular equipment - and then attached it to an £80k car - sitting miserably, silently, in a vehicle around the back of a hotel on some gravel while they pretend to rough it. This feels much more wholesome, and entertaining.
It's a lovely little camping vehicle. It opens up a world of weekend and holiday travel opportunities. Camping at festivals and outdoor events can be both pleasant and inexpensive way to stretch your leisure budget. Thanks for another great video.

I was hesitant in buying that same tailgate tent. I bought it after seeing your excellent video. Thanks for the great review. I'm not a wealthy person, so these affordable items are a must. Thanks again.
I have had this vehicle, i10 the next gen 2013 model and bought it first hand. Had truly LOVED her, awesome mileage, good air conditioning/heater, easy pickup, every year celebrated her birthday and in 2021 had to let her go. Never bought a car then since.
Awesome as always Andy. Thank you for sharing your awesome adventure. For that car being so tiny it sure did look comfy and cozy. 😊 KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU 🤗HUGS🤗
Again, a top video. I love the fact you do different setups each time. I had a double bed platform in the back of my 110 with storage underneath worked a treat. I've now got a Freelander and have removed the rear seats and built a storage box in the back with a folding flap which extends to the dashboard to the storage box with a decathlon mattress I sleep better than I do at home. You can't beat a bit of vehicle camping.
That worked really well. When your not on your own you can always leave the seats as normal and take a separate tent, using the awning as a cooking / relaxing area.
Just discovered your channel as this video popped up Thank you for taking us camping with you Really enjoyed tagging along I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos 🙏🌻💜🌻🙏
I found your channel a few days ago and have been enjoying watching these before bed especially the cosy rainy ones. I have a disability which prevents me from camping but I feel like I'm experiencing it in your videos, thank you!
I too have a mobility issue which makes camping difficult these days. I'd love to see him test more difficult to find camping equipment that might make it more possible to camp as a mobility challenged person. Fir instance it took me a lot of searching to find a camping chair I could use.
I'm here in the US and have also recently found Andy's channel and have been enjoying camping vicariously. I am disabled due to a car wreck in which I was a passenger. It's beautiful to hear the sounds of nature and I enjoy his upbeat attitude as well as his meals, which are better than we cook at home! 😂
I bought that windscreen umbrella and thought it was the best thing since deep fried Mars Bars until I realised the points rip thru the cover after a couple of uses and scratches the buggery out of the dashboard. Deep scratches too. My brand new Kia Seltos dashboard!!! It went into the bin pretty quick sticks!!!
Glad you said about the windscreen umbrella as have been thinking about getting one. … “best thing since deep fried Mars Bars” … made me laugh out loud 😂😂😂
Now that's a breakfast 😋 🍳 🥓 I wish you would have filmed yourself lounging into the car a little longer with the sounds of the rain on the roof... it sounds lovely and feels so safe! 🚗 🌧️ 😌
It's good to know these tents fit on a normal car, I thought they were just for suvs. Great video Andy, I really enjoyed watching as always. Much love. Denise x
Just wanted say a big thankyou andy for your channel. I had to have some heavy duty cancer treatments at the end of 20021. When recuperating i just csme across 1 vid that led to another and found they were helping me big time especially the food side as did not want to eat. My wife would order me upstairs to watch one your vids & after watching you cook I'd actually eat something! Obviously its 2024 soon so im fine but with the help of your vids m8 honestly.
Recuperating from open heart surgery triple by-pass the food you eat is just like what I ate many years ago while camping love it keep up camping fun as I have all of my life!!
For such a small car the whole setup made it all worthwhile to have a great camping experience and it does work very well. I drive a Kia Niro hybrid and that has a lot more space which I seeing this gives me a lot of space once I adapt a similar style. Love the coziness and practicality of your doing to this whole setup. Cheers to you from Oregon USA.
I dont camp, old and most body parts dont work. But i enjoy watching your trips. Such a nice gentleman. Be safe and thank you for taking us along on adventures we would not be able to do in real life.
I love you road testing kit that anyone can try, that doesn't break the bank. This video just proves you can still camp even in a small car if you cannot buy a full tent.
Car camping is a lifestyle or hobby in its own right. Nothing to do with affording a tent. There are now than 10,500 practitioners in the UK alone. Some car manufacturers are producing cars with foldaway beds.
Ok, calm down! You have taken my comment and run off with it in the wrong direction. I'm fully aware that people live in car's but that was not what I was referring too and the tent I was referring to was the car awnings like the sort that give you an additional space or room as this tent on this car doesn't do that! So wind your neck in.
@@nicola_k-s car camping is about a secure enclosed environment for holidays. These awnings make you vulnerable. I've been a car camper for over 30 years. I'm not talking about living in cars. It's far safer than camping in a tent. It's also warmer and you don't get wet when it rains.
So what was the point for replying to my first comment? I was also referring to using in campsites too and not wild camping. I cannot see how they make you vulnerable if your maybe using like a porch on a campsite or if indeed you have pulled up in the woods like on this video. I never said anything about sleeping in it but to use as a covered seating area. I know quite a few people who micro camp and add a small car tent to either the side door or boot area just for extra space during the day and then lock themselves inside their vehicle at night. This is what I was referring too!! Plus there is more than 10,500 people car camping in the UK.
Hi Andy. Glad you missed Storm Babet. We really took a battering in Scotland, especially on the East Coast. A month's worth of rain in hours & flood defences that always worked were overwhelmed.
Cheers :) ah, nice one. Similar to my plans tor the pathfinder.. can't wait
Your saws are always so nice and sharp, you make it look easy to cut firewood!
Enjoyed the wood chopping and splitting...i helped my Dad with that when i was younger ❤
Bob Ross meets Mr Roger’s of camping ! I adore this guy and appreciate his informative, relaxing videos ❤️
This is just a brilliant camera work show with a woodsy background
That worked really well. When your not on your own you can always leave the seats as normal and take a separate tent, using the awning as a cooking / relaxing area.
Just discovered your channel as this video popped up
Thank you for taking us camping with you
Really enjoyed tagging along
I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos
🙏🌻💜🌻🙏
Every things is adaptable. Even your little i10.Great video. Just love the rough camping😊
Love the rain 🌧 sound it's so relaxing 😌

@hr7751 white mountains . Acadia National Park, bid bend
I’m with you; camping is so oddly cosy for some reason
Now that's a breakfast 😋 🍳 🥓
I wish you would have filmed yourself lounging into the car a little longer with the sounds of the rain on the roof... it sounds lovely and feels so safe! 🚗 🌧️ 😌
my fav video so far. I will be doing some SUV camping this summer and your setup looks like what I was thinking. :) that fire pit is cool
I love how he is comfortable with taking new, untested camping equipment out for a real world test.
Recuperating from open heart surgery triple by-pass the food you eat is just like what I ate many years ago while camping love it keep up camping fun as I have all of my life!!
Refreshing to watch just an average, normal-type guy doing just normal, everyday run-of-the-mill-type camping! 😊
I love the sound of the rain
Your so real and genuine unlike others who do videos. Love the content/videos..
Looks a nice simple, yet comfortable set up , its all you really need for a quick one or two overnight camps , well impressed . Nice video Andy . 👍
I enjoyed your video and I love the sound of owls! I live in the USA and we used to camp out and we could hear the scream of bobcats at night!
I dont camp, old and most body parts dont work. But i enjoy watching your trips. Such a nice gentleman. Be safe and thank you for taking us along on adventures we would not be able to do in real life.
Was watching news...had to stop and watch you to feel better. Youre a shelter in the storm❤
I had an i10 for 9 years from new, brilliant car.didn’t give me a minutes trouble , wish I’d known about this tent .
I’m impressed with the way you are always flexible and positive. Someone raised you right.
Well done mate, you packed a lot in that little car. I have shared the video to one of the large car camping groups that I am a member of. 👍
Hi Andy. Glad you missed Storm Babet. We really took a battering in Scotland, especially on the East Coast. A month's worth of rain in hours & flood defences that always worked were overwhelmed.
Although, from a selfish POV, I do love watching your camping episodes that are in the rain (from the comfort of my abode). 😅🤞
I just found your channel. I must say you are awesome. Love your comments .laugh..and smile..I'm almost 70 and I'm not able to hike and do things outdoors like I once did. It's very enjoyable to see you enjoying nature and all the magic it holds. And enjoying some tea at camp. I like myself to have a cup. Thank you for sharing..
Love the micro car camper. I used to do the same when I had my Renault scenic. I now live in my Peugeot Expert (micro) van.
What lovely gentleman! I enjoy his telaxing videos of cutting off from the mainstream and be able to just relax.
The lamb looked absolutely banging with marinade ,mint chutney and chapati washed down with a couple of Ghost ship ales perfect kudos mate for your many videos that always give good ideas and pointers for newer campers.👍 Cheers.
Quite creative 👏 with that small car. Andy never failed to amaze me
Today you can have almost anything for camping. I think keeping off the ground is the way to go. Either the tiny car or roof top. Better than on the ground. Nice job Andy!
Love from Texas my friend, your videos are absolutely comforting and amazing, don’t change anything!
You always cook the most beautiful meals! Thank you for making me hungry!
I've recently bought one of these car tents to b able to start camping again! Thank u so much for showing this as it's meant we can still go camping even thou I'm disabled now! Hopefully it'll encourage others. It's so easy. I highly recommend it. We thought we'd never b able to do again and it's really opened doors for us again to b able to get outside and camp.
Me and my husband love ure vids. ❤ thank u for taking us along. It's even got my husband interested in bushcraft. Ure an inspiration dude x ❤
Really love this channel , shows camping in different formats , me and my wife play a little game guessing what you are cooking for food , keep up the brilliant content 👍🏕️
I love the sound of the rain...that will make me goes to sleep❤
Watching you from The Cayman Islands and thanks for confirming that car camping in my Honda Fit is definitely possible!!
I’ve enjoyed your video. So simple yet everything worked out. I just got back from a month car camping all over the mountains of CO, New Mexico, and AZ in my new KIA Carnival minivan and thoroughly enjoyed it. Next trip will be Baja all the way to mainland Mexico. Happy camping!
Nice little camp and cook. Looked to be a delicious, simple meal. Micro car camping might be in my future plans! 👍
Great video as usual Andy! I look forward to many more, you never fail to enjoy nature in all of the woodlands you camp in.I am always entertained ❤
Really enjoyed that from start to finish Andy. This is almost Ogmios-level zen, I feel so relaxed now. Also I own a tiny car and am starting to have ideas...
Me too!!
I went camping with my son in my Ford Ka. Its was small but it was grand. I had a canopy for the back but we fit fine and stayed for 2 night.
What a lovely chap so caring in his presence takes everything in his stride and the food made me want to join him thank you for sharing ❤
I
Yes I have slept in a car a couple of times and watching this video clip is helping me with finding myself in. Wanting to go camping again. Yours Colin from Cardiff
