Red Dead 1 did an excellent job illustrating John Marston as a man who is desperately trying to make a better life for his family. Red Dead 2 did an excellent job illustrating Dutch's slow warping of his own moral code. I hope the eventual Red Dead 3 tells the origin story of Dutch and introduces a young Arthur and John in the process
So let get this right the whole red dead redemption serious is backwards to get a better understanding you should play RDR #2 first on ps4 and then play RDR #1 on ps3 because the way the story line is going this the other way around RDR#1 really pick up where RDR#2 left off at and let's not forget Red Dead Revolver on ps2 where does that story line take place..🤔🤔🤔

We did need rdr remastered it was created when it should been made second it's got those old terrible 360 graphics when the first one has the good graphics it's a great but odd timings on putting them together

I feel conflicted tbh. Is it weird that I don’t even feel sorry for John? I mean he did turn on his gang and kill people he once called brothers. The worst part was when he sent Javier to jail. He said the whole time they were together as a gang meant absolutely nothing to him. That’s some snake shit
What a great video! The awesome narration, the perfect use and timing of the music aswell as the great summary of the story gives me goosebumps like crazy. I know RDR1s story pretty much by heart by now, and yet I can't help to watch this video over and over again! Keep up the great job!
I loved RDR1. As much is RDR2 raises the bar for this generation of open world games, RDR1 was a even bigger step forward at the time. It still holds up pretty good today.

Arthur was buried in his clothes. And it doesnt make sense that charles took it off from arthurs body, then gave it to john and then passed to jack. And they never even mention arthur in rdr1 as he was not written yet, let alone what he wears.

Just finished part 2 and had to come back and rewatch this. The story comes full circle not once, not twice but three times with Arthur, John and Jack. It's an amazing epic in every sense of the word.

Watching this makes it absolutely clear and proves that I wasn't remembering it wrong. RDR1 was far more GTA like/satirical. It definitely had it's serious moments but the characters were largely comical and satirical, while RDR2 is a SUPER serious western with barely any comedy etc. A hand full of funny dialogue etc but no over the top stuff like with RDR1.
2 years later but having now played some of rdr2, the comedy is there its just much more grounded. Like the whole drinking with Lenny part had me fucking balling my eyes out laughing but it wasnt inherently over the top humor, just two guys getting shitfaced lol Edit: but as a whole, it does set a much more serious tone

I played RDR when it came out a long time ago, and its amazing to see how well RDR2 fits into the puzzle. RDR seems to be one long tragedy, and it does it so well.

Having played both RDR and RDR2 I have to say this is one of my favorite franchises ever, even more than GTA games. I just wish there was a DLC with the RDR content to keep John's Story in RDR2 taking advantage of the new system and graphics! I would kill for that!
As someone that just finished RDR2 and was wondering about the links to RDR1 that he played almost a decade ago, this was so educational and it blew me away how much of the characters of the first part I have forgotten. Dutch's death marked the end of what the Wild West could have been. Arthur's death marked the end of the original Wild West Outlaw. And John's death marked the end of the Wild West. 😢
I dont know whats better, having no spoilers by playing rdr2 first and then rdr1 or having that emotional characters immersion by playing rdr1 and then rdr2
If you wanted to start with RDR2 first, that still would've been a good thing. If anything, it might be as good of an experience, if not maybe a better one, if someone plays the second one first when it's a prequel.
This game is special to me . It shows the realities of running around with your hot headed homies . The bond is strong and the love is there but in the end it’s funny how the MAJORITY of the time a lot of us end up separated dead and in jail just like this . All that’s left is memories 💔

If you wanted to start with RDR2 first, that still would've been a good thing. If anything, it might be as good of an experience, if not maybe a better one, if someone plays the second one first when it's a prequel.

This game is special to me . It shows the realities of running around with your hot headed homies . The bond is strong and the love is there but in the end it’s funny how the MAJORITY of the time a lot of us end up separated dead and in jail just like this . All that’s left is memories 💔

Mad props dude. I’m like 45% into rdr2 and just now seeing this video. I had no idea how closely related this game is to the first and who the characters are, I’ve played the first one so long ago I forgot all of the story. Man this game is so much better now, I’m playing along side guys I’ve hunted in the first. Insane

Thank you this is what i needed i played red dead but it has been so long i couldnt remember it and ive finally gotten around to read dead 2 and this recap is excellent.
Damn, what great story. And it gets me even more hyped for RDR2, I love the idea of them not just doing illegal stuff for the heel of our, but because the have their own sense of what is right. I think the story of RDR2 will be just as good as the original.

Edit: For anyone thats doesnt know what happens to charles or any other characters adter the epilogues there quite a few scenes in the 30 minutes credit, its bridges the gap between 1 and 2 also
