You've done the impossible and got my mom interested in a video game world. I was watching this in the living room and she was working on homework. She started asking questions about the Dragons and other creatures and became invested in the fantasy ecology.
Can we all casually acknowledge the fact that this was all done by *one person* and how insanely impressive that truly is? I can comfortably say, without a doubt, that this is the series I look forward to the most when MH6 comes out. Thank you for your incredible work, Oceaniz
Seriously?!? I haven’t been here for long but I am totally in love with this channel. If this is truly the work of only ONE person… well, that would be beyond impressive!!
I love these videos. Finding out what turns a Valstrax into Crimson Glow puts the monster into such a different light. And the fact that something as powerful as a Valstrax is driven mad by dragon energy, it puts into perspective how special something like Safi'jiva is due to it having no ill effects.
Oceaniz thank you for these videos. they're so calming and tbh i do sleep to them a lot but they're also so interesting and well made when i'm not sleepy!! i've been wanting to get back into monster hunter the past few days and then you uploaded this, i'm taking this as a sign!!

@@notme6753 omg i feel you, rise was the first MH i really got into, and since world is on ps+ i am going hard :D maybe missing the wirebug a little though haha
Dude, i absolutely *adore* your ecology videos. There's so much worldbuilding in the MH series and your way of presenting it is superb. I also greatly enjoy your forbidden episodes. Your storytelling ability honestly inspires me to keep writing my story (which in turn is inspired by MH's monsters).
Man, this is awesome! The way you script everything, especially the forbidden episode, really makes the game come alive. It genuinely feels *real* when it's from the perspective of the hunter!
Dang! This is genuinely beautiful. Right at the end of the forbidden episode, I almost genuinely cried. These stories are made real by all the things you do, keep it up man.
So much... and yet, so little time. A perfect send-off to the fifth generation of Monster Hunter. What an interesting journey it has been... and to even more great wonders and grand adventures await in the sixth! I hope. :)
Keep going with these man, would love to see you do some for the older games. Can't wait to see you cover the newer games as well, better than reading through the texts no one usually does for these games.
"Newer games"? You do realize this is the newest (non phone based) game the series has, right? Did you mean older games or are you hoping he'll continue when Wilds comes out?
Don't think I didn't catch that Sanctuary name drop when talking about Gore Magala's molting. Fucking incredible. What an amazing love letter to Monster Hunter.
What a beautiful masterpiece. Just as good as the Monster Hunter: World lore video if not better. I started this game with no knowledge of it's lore and enjoyed it already then, but, with these videos, it only increased my love for such an in depth game, spoken by an amazing content creator. Thank you!
Been putting this on while I'm at work and it's really brightened up my days. Delightful, sensible explanations, delivered with poetic turn of phrase. Thanks for making this and putting it out for free. It must have taken a lot of time and effort, and I appreciate it.
The narrative disconnect is always funny to me. "While its few survivors build a new Kamura, fear governs their lives." Elder Fugen (in every single conversation): "HAH, HAH, HAH, HAH!!!" Good ol lore vs presentation lol
I cherish this man for his dedication to the Mon hun community for bringing us amazing vids like this, I can’t wait for the next monster hunter game so we can get more videos like this. Love you all and I hope you have a great day, happy hunting.
I'm not really much of a person who plays video games, but I find myself enamored with the world of Monster Hunter. You have a clear talent for storytelling and a truly illustrious way of presentation. I will be looking forward to your compilation of Wilds.
Your inflection when talking is perfect and peaceful. You're a good speaker, no monotony in your voice, lots of emphasis on the right words, the start and end of every sentence doesn't have the same inflection, etc. This is what I was thinking laying in bed listening to this.
I keep on coming back to your Ecology series for both World and Rise and I love them every time I watch them! I cannot wait to see what you will do with MH Wilds. I will see you there fellow hunters!

That was...amazing. I'm new to the channel so I don't know how much experience you have as a writer. Nonetheless that was an amazing "forbidden episode". Truly has inspired me to keep learning more about MH and to even re-write my own hunter. Keep up the good work. I'll definitely be sticking around for future content and explore what's already here. I know I'm in for an adventure.
I suppose a possible interpretation (aside from the devs just didn’t put them in) is that these species are far less successful in the Kamura region than their native habits, or are fairly recent arrivals who haven’t established themselves, making the adults and Greats more rare?
I think that the areas are too hostile for Greats to show up. There are too many strong monsters to try and fight, so many alphas die before they can get back to their packs. Or other monsters realize how problematic Greats are, and decide to do away with them before they become an issue
man, i wish you would do forbidden episodes for the other games in the series, its so hard to find narrative/informative lore content about those games on youtube
I think one of my favorite parts is the call back to the MHW forbidden episode protag shedding wisdom. At least that is who I believe it to be. Truly a good ending for both stories.
Anyone else noticed that you can faintly hear the themes of the monsters during their moments? If you listen closely at Valstrax’s part, especially at 1:33:28 you can hear its theme. Nice detail
I never watched all the episodes cause I was waiting for this but it took me a while to realize that I don’t think he’s doing monsters he’s covered in world
Watched your World ecology and now this one, i respect the effort and quality you put into these videos. The monster hunter ''universe'' is very interesting and i really appreciate the franchise. I've played a wide variety of video games since the mid 90s and monster hunter are one of very few franchises that i can spent countless hours playing and have fun. I'm really happy i decided to give MHW a chance, i didn't know much about these games until then and i clearly missed out on a ton. The only other game franchises I've dedicated this amount of time to since World released is classic doom and halo due to mods and modding tools.
I'm new to the MH series and I really enjoyed this and the World Ecology video, they're super awesome and helped me get immersed into the games and catch up a bit on the monster lore. Also bonus points for the Okami OST in this one!
Wow. Just wow. What an amazing documentary with a full-story attached. This must have taken a stupendous amount of effort and I wish to congratulate you for this incredible work. Thank you for this gift.
I like the Seregios and bazelguese relations. More than likely their common ancestor migrated to the old world and became seregios and bazel in turn in the new world
Oceaniz you are cracked as always. This has to be the best full documentary you've done so far and my god sitting through those 6 hours and 32 minutes did not feel like a slog whatsoever. The only propblem is that my playthrough of Sunbreak is going to be infinetely less interesting than what our local GS main had in store for us. ;) The writing and story telling in the Forbidden episode was insane and I'm so glad that I, along side so many others, get to watch your dedication to the MH franchise as well as your brilliance as a writer and storyteller. Thank you for your hard work and dedication! This video is a certified banger and I wish you the best!
Are you feeling okay? I heard making these long videos was really hard and this is the second one you made in a roe I appreciate it cuz I like long videos but maybe you should take a break.
Well this is just a compilation of all the Rise videos he made, if I’m not mistaken. (If there’s new content in this one I’m a dummy who doesn’t pay attention)
Simply amazing. Thanks for the video, made my week. I watched it in parts these last few days, and it was awesome. Loved the forbidden chapter spin off.
Very cool set of videos. I don't really have a whole lot to say other than that but I think getting me through a 6 hour video deserves at least a comment.
Question: Will you be making more of these ecology videos, perhaps on older monster hunter games? The reason I’m asking is because I keep coming back to these videos nearly daily (I love them and they/you help calming me down and clear my head from everything bad so I can sleep). I find this MH universe deeply fascinating and want to know more, though I unfortunately don’t game :( If you don’t plan on continuing this series, I would very much appreciate it if you could recommend somewhere I can go to get more MH lore/ecology. Have yet to find another channel that does what you do in the same level of detail and storytelling.
I love watching your Ecology Documentaries! They are the perfect mix of information and story. I always watch them when crocheting or when i had a rough day. Thank you for taking all this time out of your days to make such great videos! Lots of Love!!! 🤗
Im a new monster hunter fan and this is amazing ! Absolutely perfect to watch at work ! Im happy i clicked on your short this morning . So many details . So much i didnt know . I got mh rise last week and played 48 hours in 9 days . ( oh and i work 50 hours a week ) i absolutely love monster hunter now and i wanna know everything about it . Ofcourse im gonna watch all your documentaries . What a treasure ! Thanks for making my workday go by faster .! And also i wasnt gonna read all my hunters notes so this is amazing!
Character writing felt a bit clumsy at times, but good climactic finale(s)! Though I was hoping for the return of the Rathalos Greatsword. :P Something like, before the final battle, "you‘ve come far since this was taken from you. Now, prove that you are worthy of a weapon for a Monster Hunter". To me, it doesn’t stand for who the hunter was, but for who he failed to be and what he should live up to. And also, it would have rounded the journey out nicely. Could even have emphasized, on some kind of decisive blow, how that blow came to be not because of the hunter‘s brawns or the sword‘s power, but because of his brawns, sword, experience, teammates and preparation working in tandem to grant him this opportunity. After all, a weapon doesn’t make the Monster Hunter, but it sure mustn‘t be absent from one, either. :P
I just got into monster hunter and I absolutely adore these videos. I never new how interesting and detailed these games where. Also those journal entries were just amazing! Good gosh I felt emotions listening to that!
Thaaat's what the guild knights are for. Also, the forbidden chapter (the 3 hours at the end): Godlike storytelling. This is what i would want from a MH anime :'D
Love the forbiddem episode's hunter contemplating the path of a researcher... part of me can just imagine them one day putting down their weapon for good, and becoming a researcher proper, the final transformation away from the violent, raging brute they once were.
Damn why did I wait so long to watch this? I absolutely loved the series you did on World but for some reason just… didn’t watch it until now (maybe it’s a bit of my bias towards World over Rise? Idk) but man I was not disappointed. Especially with the Forbidden Episode, which absolutely soars above World’s already great one. I love the contrast between the despair and fear that the World hunter faced at every turn, and the more complex, character motivated growth of the Rise hunter. They both work great for the story they’re trying to tell. Just incredible work man, and I’m just as excited for The Nature of Monster Hunter Wilds as I am the game itself.

I can definetly use these to fall asleep to too its a win all around!
Fun fact: Jhen mohran, Dah’ren mohran, and Yama tsukami are all also mountain dragons
Let's goooo these are so well made
My cannon is that the hunter from the forbidden episode used his later days to write these documentaries of the world of monster hunter 😌
These videos are incredible, serious props
I can’t wait for him to cover monster hunter wilds
I wish they would bring underwater combat back, someday. Even aquatic monsters like Gobul or Lagiacrus or Cedaceus would be appreciated.
God, i love these MH ecological docs. Bravo, sir.
I love these thank you for taking the time to make them!
Oceaniz the absolute GOAT!!!
I couldnt wait for you to do this. I love these videos. Can't wait for Gen 6
been w8in for this ty sir
6 hours?! We are not worthy! Thank you for this amazing gift.
letsgooooo! been holding off on watching the docs till this released!
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!
Courage need not be remembered, for it is never forgotten
I just got into monster hunter and I absolutely adore these videos. I never new how interesting and detailed these games where. Also those journal entries were just amazing! Good gosh I felt emotions listening to that!
Such an incredible writing and storytelling, thank you for this vid! Love it, seriously!
I cant tell you how happy I was to see at the very end, they fought the parasites instead of slaying the hero dragon.
I have no words for how impressive and beautiful this is. Thank you.
This video is too underrated. We need more likes
I so desperately hope that we will one day get to see what the malzeno looked like originally.
Your wish was granted! Primordial Malzeno is what you are looking for.
Hell yes^^! Love these massive compilation videos^^! Youre hardwork is appreciated ^^!
Time to binge another oceniz video
Amazing video !🎉
The nature of MH Wilds is gonna go crazy
Love me some Monster Hunter audio drama.
I love love LOVE that the MC could not care less about names at the beginning. It got me rolling
