- Bricklaying - Building pillars all day with just a level.
FORGOT my profiles 🤣🤦 Usually I would have done 4 profiles, but enjoyed using me level all day for a change..😉
Taking your time and making sure things look mint is so important, from this 1 day alone we were able to get another 4 job offers on this 1 road. Probably could have done this ABIT quicker..but no need to rush.
i would build first and last pier then you can pull a line through the length of the wall and run all the piers in course at a time
Very good shout mate, I'll probably try that next time..got another job like this coming up in a few months👌 probably would have done that on this job to be fair.. but just seems like alot of walking about. The first x3 course of the pillars were set like that, so they are all cockon inline and that👌
@@IzzytheBricky a lot easier that way mate, everything stays true, 👍
Totally the right way to build it and certainly if you had something going over the top of them , two profiles each end line each side job done
Slow moving around to them all. I would build two end piers and then in put a line on top you can plumb to and check your heights.
Lovely job Izzy..before you said it & you did it anyway
I was going to suggest knot tell you..to do little rack back's mate with 8 plumbing points it's always going to be time consuming & yes it's a good idea to leave perps out.Because the difference in the size of bricks will always stand out on a pillar...so yes I think they look the nuts good job pal.🧱💯
Haha great mind think alike buddy😉😉👌 Cheers David! Appreciate it fella!
Centre line and level , well done , i follow your vids from baghdad / Iraq ..
Cheers buddy appreciate it😊👋👋👋👋
Why didn’t you just build both end pillars and use a set of lines?
Didn't really wanna walk up and down the pavment all day and then round the back, up and down all day. Felt like I'd have done more walking than laying😂...probably wouldn't me any harm😂. Next time I do a job like this, I'll do it like that.. see if it's any faster. Cheers mate, hope your well😊
Nice job mate I know a few that fill them in after they laid them. It does work. Done it a few times myself when joints are tight. On repair jobs👍👍👍
Cheers mate! Yea these bricks dryed so quick as soon as the perp went on it was gone off 😂 which is surprising for this time of year🤔
Cheers Mark mate, that kitchen looks mint by the way👌👌👌😍
@@IzzytheBricky chears fella 👍👍👍😉
Hey can you tell me what lenght is the pliers
How many brick we need for 12 meter lenght with pliers the same as this job pl
2:06 flush flat joints in internal angle. Round jointers looks nasty 🤢 😱
Why didn’t you do one at each end then run a line down both side. Could of been abit quicker. Top work though mate really neat
I wish I did that 😂 and cheers mate appreciate it
Keep on going not bad.
Great job, not a 4k Whammer Slammer it sight. 🤣
Looks good to me💪🏼💪🏼👍
Thanks buddy 🍻
Nice work! I typically lay the two bricks on each side, level them, lay the two on the other side, level it and then fill in the other 2 bricks. You are very talented, keep it up!
Cheers mate! Have a good weekend Steve
Bet the bird got good set bangers on her bud
here's he is! 😂😂😂😉
Put a profile on it!
6:50 looking through the wall no joint at all.
Always the corner brick first not center brick. Then you can divide the spaces evenly.
Tbf with those stocks you could probably do 10 without levelling it but those your using want levelling every course without question!
Cheers mate! Yea didnt know if you could see in the video, but them bricks had a right whip over the top of them👍
I'd do it mate saves plumbing all the way round each pillar aswell and keeps everything bang on too gage.
Looks really good mate, personally I do it the same as Jack Russell said with one profile on each pier and perp the joints 👌
Cheers mate! Yea I did think about it.. but just didnt wanna walk up and down the pavement all day and then round the back up and down..just being lazy really😂😂🍻🍻🍻
Good idea to fill in perp afterwards nice job as well
Thanks Rob mate! Enjoy your weekend
We will build new houses this area 28/06/2023🏗️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️
Great job there with those pillars buddy! Finally some brickwork🤣 Keep up the great work as always mate, looking forward to the next one! 👌😁👍👷♂️🧱
Haha yea mate did this monday and Wednesday and today smashed about about 1300 and 400 block..was working with a couple of my mates👌
I’d crack a good 800 down on the wall, doing the piers on your own is a mistake ( big mistake )
1 pier each( two ends) 1 each side running in!
So much time is lost moving about, IZZY you are tidy enough but taps and scrapes are costing you a fortune
Good man🏗️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏠
You do the way your happy with, cracking job.
Lovely work, as ever!
Nice work Izzy as per usual your bang on always build on the batter a bit 🧱
Leaning in as you say 🧱bricklayers bible
If its on the hang give it a bang 🧱if its on the batter it does not matter ,if in dowt give it a clout ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I like that!!!!!!!
Thanks Geoff! That's it mate! I was always told when learning "plum or leaning in a bit..but never out" haha love that little sayin mate! Hope ur good dude🍻😊
@@IzzytheBricky
Am fine thanks Izzy 🐌🤩Ye a was tort same build a touch on the batter that will maintain the cavity on a 🏡house or perps nice on pillows etc ,ave a great wkend keep up the good work n the videos flowing 🧱always a pleasure ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@geoffsnaylam4133 cheers mate! Top lad! Have a good weekend too fella! I'm on IG now..missus said I had to get it..so if you wanna message us on there just look me up bud!
When plumbing or leveling I always slide or rub the level on the units. That way you feel if anything is between the units and the level like a pebble or mortar.
Thanks! Ey, just a side note. Been doing some Dogtooth this week. Thought about your comments and Rendered up the back of it💪😉
I haven’t used a handle for levelling in 20 years
Why don’t you build a pillar each end and run the middle ones in
Didnt really fancy walking up and down a pavment all day and then all the way round the back. Just wanted to stay in one spot, clean up and move along. 👍👍 Cheers Allan, hope your good mate
Very tidy work young man, Video in 4k would show it off even better, Nice to see you working in dry conditions for a change . ! 😂
Haha cheers mate appreciate it as always Jim 😊😊👍 Ah mate, it was fantastic, its amazing how much happier you are when your not caked up in bloody mud all day😂😂
Don't underestimate the 'power' of your personality..Its obv's you take pride in your work and it shows..Top jobs from a top man..
Eeey thanks alot mate! Always enjoy leaving at the end of the day knowing you've done a good job, or tried your best 👌👌🍻 Appreciate it fella, hope your well👍👍
As soon as you are not using the whole of the level .
Your fu**ed
Usually when I perp up on pillar work I flattern the perp joint before I lay it stops the spread and gives you a solid joint. At the end of the day your a quality clean trowel you do you 👌
Right good tip mate cheers bud! Appreciate your support mate! Hope your well and enjoying your weekend 🍻
how do you make sure the wall is straight up?
Nice method on them pillars mate
How wet should the mortar be and how do you stop mortar being pushed out as the pillar goes up? I’ve tried a fairly dry mix but I can only build 4 levels before mortar is pushed out of the joints? I’m a DIY and building piers along a garden wall. Any advice appreciated
Don't want brick to push with joint put full joint then dent center with trowel tip. Never leave the front open. Looks like crap if owner or inspector was watching. Extra time to fill and it's never as clean as when to have to repoint. You filled from top and it ran out the joint onto face brick. Average bricklayer should drop 300 in piers like that in 7 hr. excellent bricklayer over 500.
Hey bricklayers, very good job s,👏.👍 🍺🏃👍😂😂, me same jobs in London, seven years working England, Kompany MDS, respect you .👍
Those pillars were bang on perfect great bricklaying as per usual mate.
Cheers fella appreciate it bud! Happy Friday🍻👍
🏗️🏕️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️🏠
Man far to slow
Pillar both ends pull line corner to corner
That's the proper way of doing it
End of
Tell me, would you not build the end pillars then set up 2 string lines for the intermediate pillars. I realise that a level would still be necessary
I always put one profile up all gauge marked up so I don't have to pick up my tape unless checking for square every now and then
🚢🛥️⛴️🛳️🚠🚟🚁
Question: Do u leave the inside of the pillar hollow? Or u fill with concrete?
4:28 no reason to lay and level each brick it's a waste of time. Lay both then level both.
Hermoso trabajo 👌👌👌 saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱👌💯🧱
Thanks mate!!👋👋👋🍻🍻
2:47 open joints should all be full as you lay them. Now you need to go o back and fill them all when tooling.
😁👍
Come on, build the end piers then run the rest with line.? No!!!
Jeez .
How not to build a wall.
This is hilarious
Mate just wondering......does the cork handle feel grippy.??? The durasoft always feels slippery in my hand especially when dusty for some strange reason.!
I'm torn between leather and duracork.... cheers
Ayup mate, cork is well grippy mate. It's like its glued to your hand 👍 would avoid leather handle at all cost..its too thick and kills your hand..tried to get used to it for months before hanging it upp😂 give cork a go..brilliant 👍👍
You drone real well there Izzy in a day ,well covered your money 💰 going back 20 years use to get £180 2 brick 🧱 pillar 1800 high ,on site ,fooked wiv wet brick tho 😁
Channel is flying mate fair play to you you deserve it work looks very nice 👍
Thank you Justin! Really appreciate it! Everyone I know in the building game round me found my channel...was holding back a bit.. but now everyone knows and seem really supportive, I've decided to really go for it now😂😂
Hope your well mate! Just about to watch your video after my tea👌😊😊
@@IzzytheBricky
Well good luck mate your channel is enjoyable a good watch mines a bit mixed its not all bricklaying. I wanted to try other things and found myself landscaping which is now my main thing .i do still love bricklaying tbe best but my back cant do it everyday so i had to change things .dont no why im telling you all this mate guess you remind me a bit of me especially as you have a bad back and your keen to be better each day.
Awra best look after the back mate .enjoy your tea.
Justin 😆👍🧱🧱
Good video mate ..next time take both end piers up first string line on back and front then hit the 2 other piers .
Saves level time and ensures there all in line .
Free hand
Instead of going straight to 6 courses I was taught start at 2 ,,sight them in when the eye gets consistent go to 3 and so on .
Good video pal 🧱👌
Cheers Dean mate, appreciate it! Yes everyones been telling me to do that. Ive gotten a few jobs from this one job alone, all very similar and on the same road..so I'll make sure to do it that way next time 😊👌
Love the video's mate and what your all about, made me more passionate about what I do since watching them😄👍 Have a good weekend mate! 🍻
Try perp your brick and flatten the gobbo with your trowel to a full 10mm ish perp. Always have done that on pillars. Doesn’t push it out of plumb, works a treat
Very nice tip, I'll be trying that one mate 👌 hope your well buddy
Good job mate don't listen to the bad mouthers there mardy cause you got 4 jobs out of it
Cheers Rob, appreciate it fella!
Hi Izzy, Great vids and very useful for learners like me. I don’t see you checking gauge as the courses rise, so how do you knows those pillars are dead level with each other when finished?
Cheers fella! Glad you enjoyed it buddy! They are all within 5m to 10mm, checked towards the end 😄..its quite easy to keep gauge when you know what your looking for mate, just practice bud😉👌
Very relaxing to watch Izzy. Great video
Cheers my brother
Good idea not buttering perps. Hate it when I tap one side and the other side moves
Yea I've done it many times..always causes a bit of trouble if you don't give yourself a bit of wiggle room👌😉
Great tips #build one corner @ a time. #fill perps later. #build column in as opposed to out! Cheers mate!😆👍🏼👍🏼
😉😂😂😂
Great tip with perps...
Old school , proper ❤
Top job mate 👍 no matter which way you do it, pillars are always time consuming but you smashed it 💪🏻😎🧱
Cheers matey 💪💪 hope your having a good weekend bud
@@IzzytheBricky working tomorrow mate, no rest for the wicked 😂😂
Haha brilliant stuff mate! Get after it💪💪💪
Look good Izzy. Quick question (not a criticism) - I notice you don't break our the measuring tape to check gauge?
Cheers buddy. No I didn't, to be fair one thing I am good with is keeping gauge with me eye. Checked at the end, all within 5 10mm 😂👌 What's 10mm before friends ey?😉
Have a brilliant weekend buddy!
@@IzzytheBricky 🤣👍
Nice work buddy word of mouth for sure can’t beat. That barrow load could easy got lost in the pillar lol. A would of likely wacked a profile either end just making sure they line through.
Hahaha I thought that too😉😉😉 To be fair the first x3 course were all set like that, so they were pretty straight 👌👌 when I go back and do the copings, I'll take a picture from one end to show them all inline 😉...I'll have to see how good my photo editing skills are😂😂😂😂😂
Hope your good mate! I made an IG account..my missus and the lads I work with said I needed to make one🤦♂️😂, so if you wanna keep in touch give me a message on it😊🍻🍻
Ey your comment disappeared😂 so couldn't read it
Nice Izzy. Got 4 more jobs off that one job 🤙🏽

Cheers mate! Appreciate it fella! 👋👋👋👋

Cheers buddy!..not all the time😂😂👍

Cheers fella! Yea was disappointed when I noticed I left them
Fantastic job mate👍 very neat and tidy
Cheers buddy!
Massive whammer slammers 😂😂😂
What my old boss use to call them 😂😂😂 he use to go. "Look at your wammerslammers'😂😨
great job, very neat work, awesome.
Cheers Jeffrey mate!
Man!! That’s a great looking wall !!!!
Cheers Richard mate! Got a real good reception from everyone walking past 👌😊 Hope your well mate!
That's alot of work really.
Yea it was to be fair..when I pulled up in the morning..i thought I'd be having an early day😂😂😂 was sweeping the pavement at 4:45 still😂😂🤦♂️
I’m with the majority Izzy . Profile each end and run in to a line , boards and bricks on the wall so it’s all to hand .
I go one further . The side opposite the line I measure then plumb the ends then measure again so only 2 plumbing points per pillar 😉🧱👍🏽
Haha cheers Steve! Good shout with the measuring back too🤔👍 Got a few more of these coming up when everyone on the street gets planning 😂😂 so I'll do thsy next time..wont be so lazy😉😉🍻🍻 Happy Friday mate!!
@@IzzytheBricky 😁😉you too pal . Fat boy slim tonight with my 2 kids Al and Sarah 😍🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😆🧱👍🏽
Pain full to watch
😂😂 I know..how do you think I feel mate...I had to watch it back a few times to edit it all😨😨😨 hope your well though mate👍
Terrible
the slowest bricklayer in captivity
😂😂😂
Bellend
Painful to watch. Building piers independent wtf . Look like an amateur. Levels to clean to be a grafter
😂😂😂 levels about 3 month old, just look after me tools mate
