great review, lines up almost exactly how I feel about the game. Much like the first the game it has a weird appeal despite all its shortcomings. I'm on my 3rd character and I still find the game a chill experience to play and explore despite knowing everything about it. I hope we get some really juicy DLC's and expansions in the future. For now, I'd take a hard mode patch in the short term.
Thank you for such a thorough review! I really enjoyed the game, mostly for the same positives you listed, but as mentioned there are some spots where it could be improved or streamlined for quality of life. I appreciate you going through the details like you did which makes this one of the best videos on the game that I have seen.
This game is a masterclass in how to design a world. They were very intentional in how they designed the map and its topography and how to guide the eye of the player for exploration.
The consumables part... they always get me. I was handling Ferrystones as too scarce during my first playthrough. I always bought one when I was in any town, just in case. If I can make the run in 10 minutes I rather run and hunt monsters than using a Ferrystone. So now I'm at the point that I have like a hundred even after nonchalantly gifting them to Arisens if their pawn were pretty cool.
Great video, instantly subbed after seeing your other uploads as well. I just started assassin's creed valhalla and have been enjoying a lot of the combat and movement mechanics, many rpg elements as well.
Honestly, now that you mention it, I can see it. The way the snake coils around the pillars is pretty much 1 to 1 from the opening Hydra fight in DD1. For the Cockatrice - Drake connection, off the top of my head I can't really think of any attacks that line up, but the general movement style is very similiar. They are probably both using the same skeleton.
I got to apparently one of the hardest bosses in the unmoored world and literally stood and done nothing but shield up as magic spearhand while my sorcerer pawn absolutely obliterated it whilst taking zero damage.
Gehrman, you deserve so much more subscribers fr also, your channel doesn't show up at all, even when scrolling, when I type it in on youtube's search bar, just FYI!!
Thank you! Yeah, my channel is pretty buried lmao. I was thinking about renaming the channel to not get drowned out by Bloodborne. But this is the name I want to go by. So I was thinking maybe just "Gehrman Gaming".
Good review! Definitely agree more than I disagree with all you said. Gotta ask tho… how is warfare possibly the second best vocation? Imo it’s not better at anything, than anything else. It’s super fun, but that’s all it’s really got going for it.
Thank you! The way I'd use Warfarer is to have 3 skills from one Vocation you want to play and then have Rearmament for all the core skills. Let's say you equip 3 skills from thief. You would then be able to: - Heal the party and levitate (Mage) - Parry and block attacks (Fighter) - Have your own source of stamina regen with Glavanize (Sorcerer) - Shoot from range, removing the need for gap closing attacks like cutting wind and ensnare (Archer/ Magick Archer) - Paralyze enemies and teleport to them (Mystic Spearhand) I can't really think of any active skill in the game that can compete with this amount of utility. Just the first point alone means that you can potentially free up a whole slot in your party, because you are the healing mage. There is also the option to equip 4 skills and play without Rearmament. You can hardswap between weapons in the equipment menu. I think only Thief is above all this because the combination of the two maister skills, Blades of the Pyre and Formless Feint, just ends your fights before any of this would become a problem.
Dude the Cavern of the Forsaken has 3 supposed entrances. 2 of them you pass while you escort Gregor from Melve to the Oxcart. There is even a ladder at the first one you pass by. But going into the cave via the only entrance you can get to without mods and following the cave to each entrance, they are both blocked with impenetrable rocks. You can't blast them away, nor attack them to break them. Like.... tf bro? And there is an inaccessible chest in Vernworth that you can see via free cam, it's in a building where the only entrance is a doorway that is blocked with pots and shit that cannot be moved. It wouldn't be a problem, unless you got the seeker token dagger reward that pings when a chest is near. And that chest keeps those daggers pinging while in Vernworth. You never get access to that chest. So annoying.
Aren't the entrances to the Forsaken cave only blocked off before you reach the capital? I remember finding the passage with the ladder before going to Vernworth to be blocked, when I went back there after a while it was open
@@federicocasali1565 I don’t know but if that’s the case that’s hella stupid. The cave has nothing to offer that should be blocked before the capital, there’s no quest relevance to it at all It’s not like it leads anywhere dangerous, as all the entrances are literally on the same route from melve to the capital
20:33 the real fix is to make this exact vocation available for your pawn , that way he/she will be supporting you to have the most combating and fun not the Ai
Sorry, I'm not really into big story games. For Red Dead Redemption 2 I'd see myself spending a ton of time in the open world and never finishing the story. That doesn't really work as a base for a video.
I didn't expect to get so much imersive feeling by exploring this map, i was a bit disappointed by Gransys in 2012. But after 100 hours i still discovering new places and paths..after Elden ring i was apprehensive about the world design, expecting a stepback but i had equal fun experiencing the two games. The only thing i would put in DD2 is a land mount like an horse or something else and the possibility to travel across the big lake in the middle of the map (from Harve for exemple) with a small boat and discover may be some little islands because in the whole pre-end game this big aera is totally useless, it's a little waste.
100 to go across the country but 2000 for a beer, if you have a problem with formless faint then uh don't fuckin use it wtf, and mystic spearhand sheild DONT USE IT IF YOU DONT USE IT WTFFFFF. How is warfarer not unique yea it all the vocations that's kinda what makes it unique
“Trickster goes to the vocation guild to change into something good.” 😂 So true!!
Lmfao
That one got me good hahahaha

On PC you can play around the difficulty with mods if I've seen them right, Mr. President.

The trickster vocation part got me 😂😂😂
I think Trickster should have been Monk

Someone pointed out to me that the cockatrice and hydra are actually kind of in the game, they're just used as the final boss fights lol

Excellent! 👍 Thank you!
How do you get the map to be fully revealed like at 8:12
It's a feature in NG+. So you have to beat the game once.
