    Radahn would be better if not his invincibility and they just slowed him down slightly in phase 2. I’ve also found that he can sometimes do his grab in a summon, and if he does, he’s invincible that whole animation. Like 15 seconds where he’s just standing there and yet can’t be damaged at all. Possibly the only decent reason to summon for this fight because summons were totally useless in this fight because they can melt quick - yes, even high level mimic - and often spend a lot of time running around to ensure they are right in the target zone, getting knocked down only to run right back into the hit zone again.

    Damn, finally someone i totally agree with especially on the bosses. In my no summon run ive been punishing bosses hard by being aggressive. Even if youre not dodging everything it feels more epic that way. You're trying to give them a hard time while they are doing the same. Its super fun. Just give them hell. Also I think you can dodge the combo from radahn with a backstep, forward roll, backstep. Don't quote me on that tho

    • @GehrmanGaming
      @GehrmanGaming 2 місяці тому

      Thanks! Yeah I think full out aggression is the best approach to Elden Ring boss fights. It's significantly easier if you just shut them down through repeated stance breaks and it's also the most fun way to play the game imo. For the Radahn combo, I've only seen it work if you use the 'Fine Crucible Feather Talisman' that increases your I-Frames on backsteps. On a base level, I'm pretty sure the backstep does not have enough I-Frames to clear the first swing so you always get hit.

    Very good critique, I especially agree with the remarks on the open world and enemy variety. It's easily my biggest complaint that I'm surprised more people aren't echoing. To add on to it, while the areas looked beautiful from a distance, they also felt less detailed and interesting on closer inspection. The shadowlands map is so big and well crafted on a macro scale but empty and half baked that I feel as though it was intended for a full blown sequel with more time and funding. I think Fromsoft is moving on from souls and elden ring for now and wanted to wrap it up to move on to other projects. Also, I made the mistake of going through at NG+6 for the first go and the mother of fingers has a pretty compelling moveset when you can't trade except for the undodgeable laser attack.

    • @GehrmanGaming
      @GehrmanGaming 2 місяці тому

      Thank you! Yes, I agree. An area like the Abyssal woods comes to mind as an example. It looks amazing and sets the mood well with the music plus the message of Torrent ignoring your call because it is scared. Thats the macro level. But on closer inspection it's only a 3 min stealth section, which itself is also optional because you can just go above the enemies. I still like the area. They tried something unique with the open world. But it does not feel fully realized. I would love a completely different direction for the next game. Elden Ring does sometimes feel like 'Dark Souls 4 + Open World'. I was using savefile backups to refight the bosses and did about 6-8 kills for Metyr. I didn't find the moveset that interesting. To me it kinda falls in line with Commander Gaius, where you just dodge their attack and attack them afterwards like a Dark Souls boss. Which is cool once in a while, when the presentation and atmosphere of the fight is as good as Metyr's.

      My app for writing scripts is just one continous page, so I'm not sure. The script is 18.000 words long which should roughly translate to 40 pages. Yeah I agree the back to back events got a bit tiring. It might be better with the engine update coming in August. From what we've seen there will be a catchup mechanic. You can do the challenges from all the previous weeks you missed. So instead of being forced to play the game week by week, you could do a long session in the middle of the event and gain all the progress. That might fix the issue, but we'll have to see.

    I love the quality and objectivity of the review. Many reviews have too many fun service based on overall good reception of the game. I feel mostly the same about all of critique points and it's refreshing to see that I'm not crazy after watching so many praises of the game. The one topic I would really want to be explored is how bad the game communicate with it's core mechanics. The first part of the video focus highly on mechanics (like poise, stagger, weapon/catalysts scalling, etc) that have zero in game explanations and only can be partially understood by trial and error if you willing to focus on research on what is really going on, *and* have an expirirence with previous DS games. I can understand making extremely easy to miss content but even basic mechanics highly incentivise use of wiki that I generaly hate like a cancer of a lot of modern games. Also even in DS 1 I felt like weapon upgrade mechanic is completely redundant. With already existing leveling system it just hurts variaty of the gameplay with no value provided, as difficulty could be scaled by any other of existing mechanics. I really wish it to be gone eventually, or at least trivialized so I never again should be even considering not using some weapon I want to try because I may be short on upgrade resource

    Incredible video. Super informative and to the point with clearly detailed explanations on each topic. I don't know how accurate it is with the current state of the game, but there are issues you've named which I've often noticed years ago, that still exist in the game today. I'm glad lots of them have been fixed by now, and it's good to see that Crytek is still gradually working on optimizing the rest of the game. The biggest miracle, is that this video has only gathered around a mere 50k views after half a year of you having posted it. It is an absolute gold mine of information for new, experienced and frustrated players as well as Crytek devs. So, thank you for making this. It's relieving to see that I'm not nitpicky about some issues that I've noticed in this game, which sometimes really made me want to quit playing for the day then and there. Though I also absolutely love this game. There's none like it, and I really enjoy the themes and art styles Crytek have chosen to use for its designs.

    The diameter of the spread of shotguns aren't impacted by ADSing or not, However the entire cluster varies in it's position within the hipfire crosshair. Hunt hipfire has a higher chance of landing closer to the center than the edges. This makes it so that some shotgun hipfire crosshairs tend to become misleading. (Romero hatchet for example)

    They are finally nerfing Solo necromancer. necromancer will now be a burn trait, meaning you can only revive yourself once per match

    • @GehrmanGaming
      @GehrmanGaming 3 місяці тому

      I'm not so sure if that is actually a nerf. They said that the solo necromancer also gets a full restoration effect. Meaning they stand up with the full 150HP. And the delay to revive will be shorter than the 10 seconds we have now. In the current version of Hunt, I think it's pretty hard to get up twice in a fight anyway. The team knows whats up after the first revive and then camp your body. So most of the time, 1 revive is all I got as a solo. But now it's a full 150HP revive and you don't even need resilience anymore, freeing up more upgrade points. Imagine you're covering a solo body with a Sparks: You would need to hit a headshot on that Solo as they get up to actually cover them properly. Thats kinda scary.

Here is what's different from the video now: - Light Load dodge distance went from +10% to +20% The overall distance of Bloodhound's Step and Quickstep was decreased, but now Light Load gives you more distance with those two. Compared to Medium Load you now get: - Bloodhound's Step and Quickstep distance +10% The rest remained the same. In my opinion, Light Load is really strong now. 20% is massive!

    Very nice review. Good organization of discussion on each aspect of the game and I liked how you broke down each boss one by one. Admittedly you changed my perspective on the bosses a little when you discussed the importance of aggression and finding opportunities within the middle of boss attack strings. I think one small aspect that would really help me enjoy the game more is if they used the light roll distance for the medium roll as well. There are many attacks that frustrate me because dodging once will leave you at the edge of their attack so your options are to dodge an additional 1-2 times to get the proper distance for a true dodge or to the attack. This ends up leading to the "rollspam" visuals that people will often say. If the medium roll that the majority of players use had more distance to it, then we could see the dodge button be used more often for positioning and moving out of the attack range. The jump attack is a very good step forward like you mentioned as it can act as both a dodge and a counterattack in certain situations. One question I have is do you end up thinking these analytical thoughts while you're playing through the game for the first time? When I struggle against a boss, I end up repeating it over and over and end up analyzing the moveset, the mechanics behind the boss, and an estimated frame data of my attacks vs the boss's. But this saddens me as it makes me think I'm feeling less immersed in the game world and spectacle of the boss and becoming obsessed with the raw mechanics behind it. As an example, I am enjoying the DLC very much right now but when I face a new boss, I end up thinking which combo I will have to memorize and how I will need to prepare for whatever instant kill particle effect screen covering AOE the boss will unleash once it reaches its 2nd phase and I wish that I could just enjoy the spectacle of the boss's special attacks and just think of it as being cool. Either way, enjoyed your video very much and hope to hear your thoughts on Shadow of the Erdtree as well :)

    • @GehrmanGaming
      @GehrmanGaming 3 місяці тому

      Damn, what a nice comment. Thank you! I think giving everyone the light load dodge might be too much. At least if the boss fights remain unchanged. I feel like they would break against a light rolling character that also has poise. Right now there is a nice decision you can make for you builds: light roll vs poise. And I think poise allows you to deal with a ton of attacks without resorting to rollspam, because you are working towards the stance break. In the DLC I'm running a STR character. I am always looking for openings to do charged attacks and when I manage to land one, I turn up the aggression and stick to the boss, even if I'm low on health. I find that very engaging. Probably the least fun way to fight these bosses is no light rolling and no poise, because yeah then you're just rollspamming for 6 attacks to do one light attack of your own. Not the best gameplay. As for your second question, I think it depends on the boss. For a lot of them, my thoughts come from a second and third playthrough. I was also using savefile backups on PC to restore my save when I beat the boss and then do it again. Basically the refight option from Sekiro, only with more files you have to move around. If I beat the boss pretty fast on my first run, then I did want to fight it more times to get a better understanding of the mechanics. For something like Malenia, my thoughts were pretty set after I beat her. I spent a really long time enjoying the way you work with her low poise + hyperarmor and hating waterfowl dance. I still spent more time with the backup to really understand waterfowl dance, but the script didn't change all that much. This next point might be a bit disheartening, but I don't really enjoy the immersion and spectacle aspects of Elden Ring all that much. I think that mostly comes down to the recycled enemies. From Software games live by the combat. The areas you explore are extremely impressive on the visuals side, but then the hours of actual gameplay are spent fighting the same enemies. Elden Ring is kinda repetitive. And if I'm not enjoying the world all that much then I'm also not interested in learning the lore behind the places or the characters/ bosses of the world. So I'm enjoying Elden Ring almost exclusively on a mechanical level, which isn't the worst thing because I love the mechanics as I detailed at the start of this video. But previous From Software had the full package for me. Combat, exploration, world design, characters, lore. You will almost definitely hear my thoughts on the DLC in a video! :D But it might be more negative than this one. The most positive section was talking about the raw combat mechanics and I don't see the point of doing that again for the DLC video.

    Bro I have 900 hours in Hunt and still learned stuff from this video. Only thing I disagree is that instead of remedy they should reintroduce that spesfic trait which gives yours health chunks back when you loot a dead hunter and to make it fair it would be available only on corpses you or your teammates killed. This way you would only get restoration through fighting.

Not many people are playing the game when there isn't an event happening and not everyone comes back to play when the events starts back up. They need a way to keep players interested during the down time in between events.

    Best way to deal with a basement is to toss a fuse and run in as a team. You usually suprise and overwhelm the players inside since they are likely covering different entrances.

    A side note to the barbed wire guys or there thicker hide counterparts. There very flammable and keeping flairs with you one shots them instantly with minimal sound

    I'm 1:12:00 into the video and so far I think it's great! Nuanced and to the point. About the problem with the Terminus, I think something should be done about the fact that aim punching is binary. It would make sense to have it proportional to the damage you take. That way, wide spreader like the Terminus wouldn't knock you around as much. Sure, it would make shotgun less effective as a defensive tool, like you described earlier. However, I think that would be somewhat counteracted by the range - if you are further away, it's less likely many pellet hit (therefore smaller aim punch) but from your opponents point of view: at greater distances a small aim punch will still have a bigger impact than the same punch would have a closer distance.

      Yeah, I think thats a very good suggestion! I also like your consideration about the range to aim punch interaction. Your screen getting knocked up by 10cm would do nothing at close range, but would cause a complete miss from a longer range. I would like to see this change in the game.

    I have 1590hours and your proposed changes will have more negative impact than positive what we need is only a black list so we can ban players from getting into our lobby decreasing randomness will lower the skill necessary to deal with problems if you enemy has shotguns and you have rifle you will most likely lose if you rush the compound and its ok wanting to balance everything is what kills games we need the basements otherwise the map gets stale we need unfairness so when we overcome them we feel proud its fine

    A lot of the "critiques" are straight up skill issues... in all honesty.

    I got to apparently one of the hardest bosses in the unmoored world and literally stood and done nothing but shield up as magic spearhand while my sorcerer pawn absolutely obliterated it whilst taking zero damage.

    Hey great video but listening to you speaking english is really strange. Dont get me wrong your english isnt bad at all but at the same time you have the most german way of speaking english ever! Oh btw the sweaping motion of the heavy knife is what makes it good. You can actually hit more targets and you can hit a target while turning away from it. Somehow doesnt really work with the dummys but try a bit around with grunts and or players and you will notice some really effective moves.
