Not having Henry Cavill in the opening was a criminal offense. If ur already doing a justice league-like opening w Batman flash and Wonder Woman, give us all them together one last time. That includes Momoa and Ray Fisher
Considering you had people like Tom Cruise, James Gunn, Terry Crews, and even Stephen King coming out and saying it was one of the greatest comicbook movies- yes it was overhyped. Not even the best comicbook movie this month let alone of all time.
This movie is a 4/10 at most. Without Keaton Batman, it wouldn't even rate. Ezra is insufferable as an actor. His voice is the most grating thing I've heard in a long time.
@ 51:29, Winston is right. Barry never learned his lesson. That's kinda the whole plot of the movie. Barry goes back in time THINKING that because of the Butterfly Effect, he can't have too much interaction with that past, because it would change too much. Like Affleck warns him, he doesn't know for sure what effects saving his mom could have on the rest of the world. But like Keaton explains, ANY change to the past goes both ways. It has nothing to do with WHAT was changed. He specifically says that anyone stupid enough to change the past could create a giant mess of noodles crossing and diverging. Some universes running parallel is some parts, while others being vastly different. Any change that Barry makes has no affect on the differences between this new universe and Barry's original timeline. For example: Saving his mom doesn't CAUSE Superman to never land on Earth, or Aquaman never existing, or Cyborg never being created. The change just puts him on a completely different noodle. The true irony is that Barry never actually learns this lesson, because he still changes the past by moving the can of tomatoes. Which is why Clooney shows up. Implying that he is on a new noodle, now. The amount of change or what was changed is not what matters, it's the change itself.
I thought that Barry saying that Aquaman is the same in every universe was sarcastic and just a joke because he didn't want to tell Arthur that he was a dog in one universe. That's why he says something along the lines of "yeah, you're the same, lovable beast who likes bacon". But idk.
Michael Keatons explanation of time travel with how it will create an intersection, leading to the Multiverse using Pasta and Spaghetti was awesome. That scene is my favorite in this film.
I think Andy Muschietti did his best to make something good out of several bad situations. I thought the performances and emotional beats were good but I think it started to get sloppy towards the end story-wise. Yeah the CGI is not that great but I'm just glad they were able to make all the scenes with two Barrys work seemlessly. I'm glad none of the cameos were spoiled for me because it was nice to see a quick glimpse of the history of DC in their unique Spider-Verse-esque scene. I'm not sure if I would want to watch again though because it's all getting rebooted anyway. 7/10 for me.
Zaslav-best CBM ever Gunn-best CBM ever Cinemacon-movie is great Stephen king - this movie is great Tom Cruise -the movie Hollywood needs” Overhyped is understated
I enjoyed the movie a lot. I agree that I wanted to see more Supergirl. Sasha did such a good job. However one thing I don't understand is the Aquaman discussion. Yes, he said that Aquaman is the same in other universes, but didn't we literally spend 90% of the movie in a universe where Aquaman doesn't exist? So how can he be the same and exist in every universe?
When I saw Nic fighting that Thanagarian Snarebeast, I just thought of Schnepp. Wish he would've seen that. Had a ton of fun with the film. Did yall hear about the deleted scene we'll get about why Keaton quit being Batman? Fascinating story at Cinema Blend podcast.
@prathapkutty7407 No. That was from an idea that was intended to be in the 90's Tim Burton Superman movie that never got made. Which was initially written by Kevin Smith.
I think you guys missed the joke in that post credit scene. He wasn’t saying Aquaman was Jason Mamoa in every universe. It was a joke about him being a dog in that other universe. Aquaman said so I’m the same in the other universe and Barry says yeah basically, your lovable, furry, loyal and motivated by bacon. Remember when Barry is looking for the justice league in the other universe he calls Arthur’s dad asking for him but it turns out he just has a dog named Arthur.
I really felt that Korey Coleman energy with these ad segues 😂 In regards to the movie, I thought it was mid. I thought it was exactly what I was expecting and had some fun with it, but I do think it suffered with others by being too hyped. I always took that buzz with a bag of salt and tempered my expectations, but they were really overhyping it. I think the film could have benefited from another draft that served to bring more of the underlying themes to the forefront, but all in all it was enjoyable.
Thought the movie was great (looking past the Ezra issues, of course). The CGI was a little cartooish in places, but I watched it in IMAX mini format, so it didn't bother me as much. So damn good to see Keaton batman on the big screen again.
Nitpicking, but Why didn’t any of the Flash’s try to phase through the chest of the Kryptonians like Thawne did in the CW show. Seems like the big battle would be over quickly if they did that. Why did the movie try to make us sad about Keaton Batman’s death in the final battle when time travel could erase it? Why did he think bombs could kill the big Kryptonian?
I think I got that first question down They couldn’t stab the kryptonians because their skin is impenetrable unless it’s kryptonite, explained in instances like Doomsday in BvS and also in ZSJL Flash could only barely push Superman and he still fell over doing it. So I think their species is too powerful to be affected by their phasing
@@tomdevinney7280 gonna call bullshite on that one, young barry alone was able to kill faora alone in a duel with ease, also im pretty sure that they literaly broke the back of a kryptonian soldier like bane. if barry was able to do that, there's absolutely no reason why supergirl couldnt kill zod. there's no reason why barry could kill zod either.
@@marcosdheleno eh I can agree with Faora, she was wasted in this movie. Aside from the back breaking moment (yea I can also agree that’s dumb), I actually love the idea that none of them can beat Zod, very reminiscent in Infinity War where there’s one outcome where iron man can defeat Thanos by sacrificing himself. Told me that only Kal El can defeat Zod and I thought that gave great respect to the character of Superman and Man of Steel, which I personally love that movie
@@tomdevinney7280 the diference is, its underpowered zod. not thanos. barry alone should be more than suficient to kill him, if young barry was able to slice and dice faora so easily as he did. and he was able to punch through the other one.
I was taken out of the movie until Keaton showed up. It wasn't because I don't like Ezra (barring his situations). I separated the two. I just don't like Ezra's portrayal of Barry. It was annoying and he had certain moments that were funny but not really. I really enjoyed Kara and Keaton Batman. They were good. Cgi wasn't great. Young Barry being corrupted by power was really scary. I felt that. Otherwise this movie just didn't do it for me. I would've copied Flashpoint Paradox where WW vs Aquaman. That would've been more emotional for Barry as well since he knows them. Overall people can like this movie but for me just didn't do it.
@the_0racle only reason I say those two because he's teammates with them. Plus if you have seen Flashpoint Paradox the animated movie that story is better than what was shown here.
There is so much that has to be taken into account when talking about the flash. If the the film didn’t have the off screen drama, production hell and some awkward vfx it would be able to be taken for what it is much easier. I had a blast with it but it’s impossible to not talk about those factors and they certainly affects the simple fact that this movie is indeed great.
Masterfully directed! That last scene when Barry meet his mom for the last time, I literally cried at the same time of his first drop of tears came because the scene is so powerful.
Honestly, the ending bit with all the dead actors killed the movie for me. By that point, I literally was forgiving of all of the movie's obvious flaws had they not included Christopher Reeve or George Reeves [an actor who offed himself due to this very role]... As much as I got a needed momentary pop from Nicolas Cage being there, Im like, "What are we doing here?" & I just emotionally checked out. This movie helped me realize that I hate CGI of dead people as it feels really ghoulish to celebrate this stuff. I don't care if this is where the industry wants to go, & I don't care if it was "only for a moment who cares" Unless it's a very specific case like Gladiator or Furious 7, it's not something I personally want to be a part of. [So I won't watch.]
This movie was not even top 30 all time. Waaayyy overhyped. Movie was meh and those saying it was great have shit for taste or were being paid by the studio to promote. Never trusting WB again.
Winston is right, the story has no lesson. Barry learns nothing Why is it okay to save his dad but not his mom? Because the movie says so. And the butterfly effect did happen with Clooney, so might as well go back at various times in past and try saving mom when idk Clarke is also alive to taken on Zod
The Flash and The Suicide Squad are my top DCEU films. And as someone who loved Batman and Robin as a kid I really appreciated George Clooneys cameo. I loved Barry's F bomb 😂
@@the_0racle so you just want me to ignore terrible Cgi because the story was good? There’s no excuse for it being that bad stop making it seem like the cgi wasn’t an issue because we are all talking about it
Just saw The Flash...and I really dug the film! 8.5 out of 10 for me. To me CGI is whatever, since I'm an older film buff and can see it's evolution from Tron to Young Sherlock to Abyss to T2 to JP '93 etc etc to what we have now. It's use as a filmmaking tool or it's overuse from practical location use etc. The CG in Black Panther end fight was not great, but the story & characters were so it makes the film, and I feel the same for The Flash. To me, when Barry & Dark Barry are in the Chronodome pretty much every "otherverse" character portrayed (except for George Reeves & Adam West) were pictographic stylized images similar to Kryptonian history scene in Man Of Steel - Cavill, Gadot, Affleck, C. Reeves, Helen Slater, and of course Nic Cage in full "Superman Lives" realization, in which I shed a tear a bit thinking of John Schnepp and us longtime Schmoes Know fans :)...but that particular CG didn't bother me at all, I see it as a style/design choice. I had a blast. Loved "Back to The Future" meets DC. Ezra was great! Keaton was great! Sasha was great! Both of them kicked butt, loved all the little touches...Batfleck & WW & Barry 30 scene, I liked Barry 18 using a Batman suit, loved Joker '89 laugh box, loved Flash phasing, love spaghettiverse, the opening Baby Save was hilarious and I got the Clooney "Batearth" ending which was a hoot...yeah, Muschietti did great IMO. *Don't understand all the hate this fun emotional comic book movie ride got from critics/some fans.
When Barry says Arthur is same in every universe, I think he meant Arthur the dog which Temuera Morrison had. (He even said furry and motivated by bacon).
I really enjoyed the flash a lot. I had a few things accidentally spoiled for me so my surprise for somethings weren’t as big as they were for others. But I really enjoyed it. Like you I had an issue with the graphics but it was only in the beginning for me with the opening building scene. I feel I was just into the movie and having fun on the ride with the story that I really didn’t care about the graphics half way through the opening and that lasted the rest of the movie. I think that’s why I really enjoyed the movie. I think I’d put this in my top 3 or 4 of the DCEU movies because like you I love The suicide squad. I think that might be my number #1
I liked it, but was hoping to love it. The CGI was distracting, but not the end of the world. Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder’s JL, and Ultimate Cut of BvSuperman.
I finally watched this last night and I definitely agree with you guys on the CGI, also loved Keaton and overall it was a fun movie, kind of bummed that it flopped so hard but it is what it is. I am ready for the Gunn reboot though, I just wish he would wipe the slate clean (no DCEU actors brought back).
After finally seeing the movie, the cgi is definitely intentional. I don’t know how someone could think otherwise. It’s a stylistic choice to reflect the cartoonish comic book feel of the movie.
@@ZachBobBob it didn’t bother me. One part in the desert fight was super wonky but it still didn’t take me out. I enjoyed it. To me it was just a fun hero story. That said, I told my gf going in I just wanted a good story. I had already seen all the reviews about the cgi so I didn’t expect a masterpiece. I feel like it delivered a pretty coherent fun story. I was entertained. Taking my 73yr old mother tomorrow, she’s a huge Keaton fan and has no idea what we’re seeing or who’s in it.
@@ZachBobBob I will lol. My gf knows nothing about any of these movies and she really enjoyed it. She said nothing about the cgi being bad. I’m just really glad we actually got it. It coulda just been shelved like batgirl.
I honestly think it might be the best DCEU movie. The CGI honestly never bothered me because to me it was obvious that the stuff in the speed force and the chronospheres were supposed to look off and Muscietti said as much.
i love that we sort of got to experience this flash's origin story while the character sort of watches himself go thru it ,cause we never got to see his and thought that was a clever way to do it. obviously it would've been a little different but its noce to kind of get a glimpse of it thru alternate barry.
I really didn’t like this movie. Fell flat across the board. So many excuses and alibiing from fans that want to like it. I’m a huge Dc fan, but have to admit when something doesn’t work, and this don’t work
@the Oracle I have no interest in this movie. I just think it’s odd that you are going around telling people their opinions are wrong or invalid who have seen it.
3:38 complete disagree. him changing the can's placement, and ending up in a diferent universe means, he literaly abandoned his father in prison to live alone, so he could live in an universe where his father was free. the movie goes out of its way to show that this isnt a diferent time, but a completely diferent universe. meaning EVERYTHING in the original universe still continued, its just him who jumped into a new one. so yeah, he abandoned his mother and everyone in that universe to die by ZOD's hand, he also left his father to rot in prison. but hey, this flash is kinda like a sociopath, it doesnt really matter because he is in a diferent universe now, so yay?
1. Man of Steel 2. JL: Snyder Cut 3. Suicide Squad (James Gunn) 4. Flash/Wonder Woman (tie) 5. Aquaman 6. B v S (Ultimate) 7. Shazam! 8. Shazam! 2 9. B v S (Theatrical) 10. JL: Theatrical 11. Suicide Squad -Birds of Prey (I couldn’t finish it because it was so bad)
Winston is totally right that Barry made the same huge mistake at the end. Saving his mom caused him to jump to a totally different timeline. Saving his dad sent him to another timeline that wasnt the original. You can argue that he thought he had found a loophole because he found a way to keep the time between his mothers death and his dads hearing the same by only changing the videotape but of course he ended up being wrong about that.
@@zengamer21 Nah, "he changed the tape" implies he physically altered the tape, which he did not. Your intent may have been correct, but what you said was wrong, as he moved the cans, and did not touch the tape.
@zengamer21 technically he changed the 'videotape' by changing the position of the tomatoe cans. When he takes the can out of his Moms trolley and puts it back on the shelf and looks up at the camera, that was his light bulb moment - if he put the tomatoe cans on the top shelf then when his Dad comes in to get it he'll look upwards so the camera can see his face. And Barry says this to the reporter when him and Iris are leaving the courtroom.
It was so over hyped. I am a DC fan way over marvel, in comics mostly, but Man of Steel remains my favorite comic movie and Superman is my favorite character. This movie is not 100% bad, but I do hate it. The decisions made are BAFFLING. I loved Keaton which is crazy because I once literally paid $20 for an SEN superchat just so I could talk trash about Burton and I HATE his Batman, but every narrative and technically decision of this movie left me asking "why?!" The easy question is about the CGI. It looked terrible, intentional or not, and the movie did absolutely nothing to actually further the transition to the dcu instead of the DCEU...I don't know why this movie was even released. I knew we were in trouble when we started throwing bad CGI babies into microwaves in slow motion and it really never got better.
The Flash perfectly encapsulated everything that was the DCEU in that there is a good movie in there but outside drama affected it and made it lesser than it could've been. B vs S had the length mandate (the extended cut makes it a full letter grade higher imo), Justice League had the death of Snyder's kid that brought in Whedon, Flash had the Ezra drama and years of director and script changes topped with Gunn and Safran take over. There was just never a good, steady guiding force to keep things moving in the right direction but we still got some really bright spots in spite of the drama.
I know some people say there's too much cameos in this movie but I think they mostly make sense (Minus Nick Cage I don't get that one. Was he ever considered as Superman?). Like in the intro when Batman & Wonder Woman showing up - in a universe where they exist, they SHOULD show up. It actually makes no sense in most superhero movies when characters in the same universe don't show up for at least just a scene or two (obviously due to money). I wish more superhero movies can do this. Have characters show up when it makes sense. Like the final battle in Eternals, Doctor Strange & Captain Marvel should totally have been there when the stake is the destruction of Earth.
Hype and Ezra Miller played a part but everyone is too in the bubble. General audience doesn't care about that stuff. Same as with Elemental, MONEY. A lot of big movies keep coming out. Everyone I talk to IRL just took a small financial break or had Fathers Day stuff.
I would say this film is either a 7/10 or maybe a 7.5/10. It was solid. Great direction, great acting. Solid story. RELENTLESSLY Awful and terrible CGI with a messy ending. Enjoyed ezra miller's comedy. The dude is very funny... he is talented. Loved Micheal Keaton returning!!!! Really loved the mom storyline. Very touching and the 🍅 can twist at the end was clever and moving. And .... I can't believe I am saying this, but I really dig the supergirl in this. She was pretty good. Wish she had more time. Fuck it, i'll go (8/10) final score. Damn I talked myself up on my score . . 🤔
Went and saw the Flash ( 6/18/23 ) I have to say I enjoyed the Movie. I took the movie for what it was and not listening to hype or negativity. For a DC movie I will say it was a good movie and placed the character in the light he should be portrayed in!
I have the same problem with Flash as I did with a majority of the DCEU: there’s so many good things in these movies but they rarely work together to make a good movie. I’m an admitted DC apologist so I’m a lot more forgiving then they probly deserve but I liked the movie- that doesn’t mean I don’t see the moldy stains all over it
If I was Warner Brothers I would really think long and hard about their investments. I would let this die, and coming from a massive, die-hard DC Fan. Let the DCU die. Let Reeves and Phillips conclude their visions and restart. This is a sinking ship of epic proportions. You lost your fan base due to the executives and their incompetencies and this all started because of cold feet during BVS and its box-office haul. Such a shame that they couldn't just let Snyder finish out his vision, and have his Flash do a proper Flashpoint into a new Universe. WB is completely 100% at fault for ALL of this.
@@pbookie41 I agree 100%. They need to make some distance from the shitshow that was (and is) the DCEU. But they wont do that. The next best option is our only hope. They need just cancel all this lingering nonsense from the DCEU and just give the audience a 2 year break b4 the schedule Superman Legacy movie in 2025 where they start up the new. It’ll ruin all the momentum of that project if they keep releasing all this garbage all the way up to its release
@@the_0racle oh you got me…my fragile feelings are hurt. Idk Man of Steel made some good numbers 650 million, BVS upwards of 875 million, Suicide Squad the OG one did pretty well, Aquaman 1 billion dollars, Wonder Woman 825 million, those are some very good numbers. May not be Marvel numbers, but again executives got cold feet due To the reception of BVS. I thought a lot of them were good to great (the directors cuts) but thanks for the attack from my favorite keyboard warrior.
I saw the movie Saturday evening. I liked it but it was definitely overhyped, by James Gunn, by Tom Cruise, and everyone else who said anything in the ballpark of “best comic book film ever.” It wasn’t better, in my opinion, than Man of Steel (my fav DCEU film), and wasn’t even better than Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the first Wonder Woman, or even Gunn’s own Suicide Squad. I certainly hope Superman Legacy delivers, because this is painful to watch at this point.
Hopefully moving forward DC just focus on their indivifual movies from now on. The multiverse craze has come and gone for me personally, its getting to the point where its just everywhere and we just need a solid contained solo storyline.
I liked the Flash a lot. Probably my favorite of the DCEU movies released in theaters. I could give a dozen reasons why it failed, but the biggest takeaway is.... there is no saving DC movies. Time to take a a 5 year break.
My daughter & I just got to see The Flash movie last night. Loved this movie. Thought it was great. Enjoyed the way they handled & explained things. Micheal Keaton's Batman in this was sooo Awesome Loved it, all the light easter eggs with Wayne manor from 89, etc.. I do not think it is the greatest super hero movie but It may be my top 5, Need to see it again before I would set it in stone. I think it is a nice tie up to the old DC movie universe. I do wish they would have put a clip of Linda Carter's Wonder Woman in when they were seeing all the different time line universes, but other than that. Great Movie, Love it. Can't wait to see it again. Enjoyed your spoiler review!! Keep up great work.
Do you think the original cut (prior to Gunn and Safran) was the cut that early viewers claim was "incredible/near the best comic movie of all time"? With the re-shoots, maybe the quality film greatly declined similar to the Snyder cut
I don't know if there's really an original cut, honestly. They were doing test screenings for a long time and they reshot at least some things in that period so I think they probably tested multiple cuts. I've never heard the Pattinson thing anywhere else but I did hear there was an ending with Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle and then one with just Keaton. Then Ben Affleck shot a sting, I think Grant Gustin was in there at one time, and I'm pretty sure there was a version of the opening with Henry Cavill, possibly with one more scene as well but I've only heard that once and I don't think I believe it. So there must have been major changes to the cut and I don't know what was screened when. I don't know if Cavill was ever included in a screening but it wouldn't shock me. I think someday we'll get more clarity on the whole process and it will be fascinating
I liked the Clooney and Cage cameos. They both got a huge reaction in my theater. I’m gonna see it again today. It was fun. I loved Ezra’s performance(s).
@@the_0racle oh i did watch it, which is why im so pissed at it. i didnt expect them to botch it this hard. i hated how the movie made a point about how he wasnt "changing the past" but jumping through universes, so his father at the end is pretty much still in jail. i also hated how they made a point to show them killing kryptonians with ease. young barry even went and broke one of them in the same way bane broke batman, which i dont think was a reference. i also hated how kara spent 10 minutes kicking zod's ass, but he just got up and walked away as if nothing. i hated how aparently, Kara was stronger than zod but lost because he had "military training" but young Barry, just massacred Faora with ease. i specially hated how Barry said it was a no win situation, even though they showed time and time again that he was more than enough to kill everyone in there with no problems at all. he even killed the big guy by shoving his fist in its chest. but sure, keep beliving i didnt watch the movie just because im not fanboying over it.
In reference to the barista being overly annoying, if you remember this isn't the normal Barista Barry usually has who knows his order. So I took it as the new guy got called in maybe on his day off or earlier than his shift so now he's annoyed asf 😂 if you've worked in food service or customer service and have had to get called in when you're not supposed to work you know it's the worst 😂
This is genuinely the only DCEU movie I have enjoyed the whole way through . It was fun, cheesy, nostalgic, heartbreaking and just a fun time in the theater. Best comic book movie ever? No, but it was a fun ride I can’t wait to watch again. If this is what the future of the DCEU is I’m in.
19:12 but that's the thing, this barry DIDNT go through his hero journey, if anything he just learned was to give up and abandon when things do go his way. and that's literaly what he does, to the point of him, after seeing how much even a minor interaction can change the course of where he will end up STILL SCREW IT UP because he was unable to learn anything. this is the complete opposite from a hero's journey. its closer to a villager's roundabout, or a NPC trafic circle.
No, when he takes it out of the trolley to put it back on the shelf he looks up and sees the security camera, and that's when he has his light bulb moment (Putting the cans on top shelf means his Dad will have to look up when he goes to the store to get tomatoes). This is confirmed by Barry when him and Iris are leaving the court house in a scene and Barry says that to the reporter about "cans moving from the bottom shelf to the top somehow".
A few things: 1. The horrific CGI kept taking me out of the film w the babies chronos-phere were so bad. As were a few other shots. Opening sequence. I get they weren't gonna use real babies in that scene. LOL... But they CGI mess looked not only ugly AF, the CGI looked like it was from the 1990's, or worse certain 80's movies, like I think it was Elm Street, the Dream Master? The nurse who was taking care of them, was her normal self. IF they made the decision to either, film real babies and paste them into the scene, fine. Or better yet, if they made every person look that bad when Barry's running fast or in the speed force, OK! Fair enough! Then CGI the nurse as well. But they didn't. If the babies were gonna look that bad...CHANGE THE SEQUENCE and do something else instead. - I also have seen countless people who saw the movie at Cinemacon, and who complained then about the horrific CGI. They were told this wasn't the finished product. Well it was the finished product 2. We all know what Ezra did the last few years. The scene w the girl freaking out and fawning over the Flash, was cringe, as was showing his junk bc of his skin tight suit as they chose to change his outfit. Considering he choked 1 woman and took her to the ground, attacked another in the bar, threatened a husband and wife after breaking into their home, and been grooming a girl since she was 12. - CRINGE 3rd. The whole point of the movie was for Barry to learn that as much as he wanted to save his Mother, changing the past can have serious ramifications for the future, incl destroying everything. He has to let things go, and let his Mom die!.....He even tells his old self, we have to let her go! And they do so!.....And then WTF does he do? Decides F IT! I'm gonna change where the tomatoes location on the shelf, so his Dad looks up at the camera, proving his alibi! He comes back to the future, and now we got Clooney as Batman. The only reason why we don't know the serious ramifications of changing the past is bc the movie ended. The whole point of the movie was now undone 4. Keaton and Calle, were so great!!! We need them back in either, the DCU or an Elseworlds movie 5. And lastly, WTF? - Iris says to Barry...."I think I saw you a few years ago?"...Barry remembers saving her life. But they never met in theatrical cut of Justice League! Barry saved her life in HBO's Zack Snyder's Justice League which had an extremely limited release! So now, ZSJL is officially DCEU canon, and Justice League, isn't?? And no, Barry saving her in ZSJL was not this Flash movie alt-timeline
@@kennycodes My assumption is he knew that he wasn't supposed to dabble. Batfleck told him that. If he went to see who killed his mother, he would absolutely intervene. Who killed his mother was irrelevant, because his plan was to bring her back.
3 different regimes The Flash film had to go through which lead to complete shake-up. The surprise was that the George Clooney scene was shot 6 months prior which was a 2 days or 2 week shoot or something.
This movie broke my heart. It was ridiculously overhyped and by doing that it has completely turned me off to anything DC related in the immediate future.
This was a good film, so many youtubers out there are bashing it over cgi or it’s box office over the weekend. This time DC actually made a good movie. If your on the fence go see it, it’s probably the best movie that’s come out this year so far.
I liked it, the third act was so so but overall I really enjoyed it. But the movie did what it was supposed to do after James Gunn took over, it ended the Snyderverse and locked it away in a separate universe they no longer have to touch again. Looking forward to what James Gunn will do with the new DCU.
I believe George Reaves did do a movie. When TV series went into syndication they edited it to make some more episodes. I think it was called “Superman and the Mole Men”.
50:58 that makes no sense. in spiderverse it works because its meant to be a question, why doesnt it work? the movie is setting it out as a lie or a mistake on purpose. in here its a fact, but IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE because young barry was able to KILL multiple kryptonians with ease. INCLUDING FAORA. he literaly kebabed her so fast and so easy, there's absolutely no reason why he couldnt do it with zod and everyone else. and he stabbed her with a piece of metal that was stuck in his arm. do you understand how insane it would be to stab a normal person with something that is stuck to your arm's flesh? the movie didnt allow Barry to win, not because it was a "fixed point" but because of PLOT CONTRIEVANCES. THEY LITERALY SHOWED BARRY BANE'S BACK BREAKING A KRYPTONIAN. you cant tell me he couldnt kill ZOD after that.
Obsessed with the reshoots a bit too much. They didn't effect the CGI and they didn't change that much. Outside of the cameos, this is the exact same story that was leaked from the first screening seen years ago
I don’t think all the early screenings helped, and I think the overhyping was exasperated by the early screening glow most movies get. And a lot of people (me) aren’t ok with what Ezra has done and how they’ve hurt people. I’m not saying people who make that leap are bad people, but I can’t get there.
It was definitely overhyped. From what I'd been hearing, I went in expecting one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. It's not. It's good. It's fun. It's a B. Not the A+ I was expecting going in. If someone had told me going in that it was a solid, fun movie, I probably would have enjoyed it much more than I did. My expectation, brought on by hype, got in the way.
@the Oracle You should learn to not make assumptions about how people get their info. It wasn’t random UA-camrs. Hell, I didn’t even _watch_ reviews from UA-camrs until after I saw the film. I didn’t watch Stuckmann, Jahns, Murrell, Bob, anyone I normally watch. It was people like James Gunn saying it was one of the greatest superhero movies, Tom Cruise liking it so much he called the director to gush over it, Stephen King raving about it. When people you respect rave about it, I expect something more than an average film.
I never liked the Keaton batman movies, just not for me. But I loved him in this movie. I wouldn't mind seeing more of him as batman in modern films. Keaton has gotten cooler with age man.
The only thing about the Eric Stoltz joke was it kept making me think of Fringe which I think did a better alternate universe. That being said when they went on to say Michael J Fox was in Footloose and Kevin Bacon was in Top Gun, that was funny to me
There's very little I enjoyed about the movie, among them was Keaton and Affleck as Batman. The diluted flashpoint storyline they've adapted did not grab me at all. The two Barrys annoyed the hell out of me. So hell yeah this was overhyped. Even if I let my feelings aside, at best its passable entertainment but nowhere near greatest of all time.
Having seen it twice, I don't understand how they do a watered down version of the flashpoint story and Barry doesn't even think to check who it was that killed his mum, it makes no sense from a narrative point of view to not even acknowledge it considering he wants his mum back so bad.
I said it in your original solo spoiler review, and I'll repeat it here... I wanted to go into this movie without all the Ezra Miller personal and behind the scenes stuff. Again, not excusing their behavior, I just wanted to see the movie for what it was. I really liked it, and I feel like it deserves to be doing better. Yes, it was majorly overhyped, the CGI is awful in certain spots, I had issues with the dark flash stuff, and I know it's blasphemy, but I felt like Michael Keaton was shoehorned in (that could have been any other actor that has played batman before IMO.) Aside from those gripes, I really liked the movie. It worked for me. I wish DC/WB wouldn't be so quick to dump this continuity and these actors. I feel like there's still untapped potential and possibility with this universe. All that said, I'm a fan of these things and I'll still see what Gunn and the new regime have in store for us. Things should be interesting to say the least going forward. 🤔
I thought the F-bomb was perfect and it got a huge laugh in my screening. It nailed Barry's frustration with all the different Batmen and lightened the entire scene. I enjoyed it, bummed to see it underperforming this past weekend.
honestly as i feared these multiverse stories are just not hitting the same for marvel or DC, maybe thats cause movies have just not been good enough but i feel its alot harder to have stakes Spiderverse can get away with it as its scope is spiderman only
I don't know, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness seemed to pull it off going by box office and reviews. I think this movie had a lot of outside factors going against it, and the CGI definetly didn't help.
Not having Henry Cavill in the opening was a criminal offense. If ur already doing a justice league-like opening w Batman flash and Wonder Woman, give us all them together one last time. That includes Momoa and Ray Fisher
Keatons last line about you already brought me back was so good. Something about seeing Keatons Batman dying just hit me hard
Considering you had people like Tom Cruise, James Gunn, Terry Crews, and even Stephen King coming out and saying it was one of the greatest comicbook movies- yes it was overhyped. Not even the best comicbook movie this month let alone of all time.
It wasn’t even the best dceu movie
This movie is a 4/10 at most. Without Keaton Batman, it wouldn't even rate. Ezra is insufferable as an actor. His voice is the most grating thing I've heard in a long time.
I think they all got caught up in the emotional aspect of the movie which was great. But outside of that it was mid
It was definitely one of the best comicbook films of all time tbh,the emotional aspects of it were better then 99 percent of comicbook films
Agreed. It wasn’t even the best comic book movie of June 2023
But idk.
I love how Supergirl is reminded of the overall goodness and hope by Barry choosing to help her without even knowing her.
Michael Keatons explanation of time travel with how it will create an intersection, leading to the Multiverse using Pasta and Spaghetti was awesome. That scene is my favorite in this film.
And where did Batman get this information? Makes no sense
@@drewmantiaDude, he's Batman. You're overanalyzing
@@drewmantiayou're assuming he hasnt already thought of time travel to save his parents...
Zaslav-best CBM ever

When the last scene happened in The Flash, I immediately thought of, "I wish I knew." Miss y'all's movie rewatch series.
I had to apologize to those around me i spazzed when i saw cage running up on a giant spider of all things
Is that spider from the comics?
@prathapkutty7407 No. That was from an idea that was intended to be in the 90's Tim Burton Superman movie that never got made. Which was initially written by Kevin Smith.
Of course Gunn has to say its great. He runs DC lol
That’s what I’m saying, also how do you promote this film because of the whole Ezra situation so they needed a selling point
The interesting thing to me is I don't remember him saying anything about Black Adam, Shazam 2, Aquaman, or Blue Beetle.
Well gunn can't say a film sucks.
I really felt that Korey Coleman energy with these ad segues 😂
In regards to the movie, I thought it was mid.
So, what I'm hearing is if Barry's mom ordered from Green Chef she would have had the tomato sauce delivered to her door!
I think I got that first question down
They couldn’t stab the kryptonians because their skin is impenetrable unless it’s kryptonite, explained in instances like Doomsday in BvS and also in ZSJL Flash could only barely push Superman and he still fell over doing it.
@@the_0racle what toys are you talking about?
@the_0racle only reason I say those two because he's teammates with them. Plus if you have seen Flashpoint Paradox the animated movie that story is better than what was shown here.
46:46 Seeing Kristian and Winston finally get the Die Hard reference when I got it on Friday’s Capes and Cowls 🤦🏻😂 I get you Coy!
You can only excuse so much. But this being in the top 5 is a joke. It’s bottom 5.
I would have cheered
I feel the Raquel Welch poster in the kitchen, that Barry phases through to get beers for him and Iris, is a reference to “The Shawshank Redemption”
I don't care if this is where the industry wants to go, & I don't care if it was "only for a moment who cares"
Unless it's a very specific case like Gladiator or Furious 7, it's not something I personally want to be a part of. [So I won't watch.]
This movie was not even top 30 all time. Waaayyy overhyped. Movie was meh and those saying it was great have shit for taste or were being paid by the studio to promote.
Never trusting WB again.
Winston is right, the story has no lesson. Barry learns nothing
Why is it okay to save his dad but not his mom? Because the movie says so.
And the butterfly effect did happen with Clooney, so might as well go back at various times in past and try saving mom when idk Clarke is also alive to taken on Zod
The Flash and The Suicide Squad are my top DCEU films. And as someone who loved Batman and Robin as a kid I really appreciated George Clooneys cameo. I loved Barry's F bomb 😂
It was overhyped for sure. Can’t believe the cgi was so bad smh CW cgi looks better 😂😂😂😂
@@the_0racle I’m used to watching both Marvel and DC movies I don’t choose sides nice try tho. Cgi was awful nothing you say can change that 🤷🏾
@@the_0racle so you just want me to ignore terrible Cgi because the story was good?
I'm with Winston, Barry didn't learn anything and undid his arc by still messing with time after all he went through.
I loved this movie. The cgi didn’t bother me at all.
I'm jealous man. I thought the CGI was that atrocious it actively took me out of the film constantly.
@@ZachBobBob it didn’t bother me. One part in the desert fight was super wonky but it still didn’t take me out. I enjoyed it. To me it was just a fun hero story. I was entertained. Taking my 73yr old mother tomorrow, she’s a huge Keaton fan and has no idea what we’re seeing or who’s in it.

I’m a huge Dc fan, but have to admit when something doesn’t work, and this don’t work
@the Oracle Are you just going to go around and tell everyone who didn’t like the movie that they didn’t see it?
@the Oracle I have no interest in this movie. I just think it’s odd that you are going around telling people their opinions are wrong or invalid who have seen it.
The CGI looks like a Corridor Crew video. Like one of their unsatisfying render challenges

He didn't change the videotape, he moved the tomato sauce from bottom shelf to top shelf, so his dad would look up.
@roofdogblues7400 Yeah, he changed the tape. The tape didn't show his face before and now it does.
@@zengamer21 Nah, "he changed the tape" implies he physically altered the tape, which he did not. Your intent may have been correct, but what you said was wrong, as he moved the cans, and did not touch the tape.
@@roofdogblues7400 Any idiot will understand that I'm talking about the content of the tape.
I loved Keaton which is crazy because I once literally paid $20 for an SEN superchat just so I could talk trash about Burton and I HATE his Batman, but every narrative and technically decision of this movie left me asking "why?!"
The easy question is about the CGI. It looked terrible, intentional or not, and the movie did absolutely nothing to actually further the transition to the dcu instead of the DCEU...I don't know why this movie was even released. I knew we were in trouble when we started throwing bad CGI babies into microwaves in slow motion and it really never got better.
They did overhype it but it's still a good movie. Had tons of heart and was pretty fun. I think it's over hated at the moment.
To answer your question…. YES
The only actor I hope returns after this movie is Sasha Calle. She was fantastic as Supergirl.
Definitely feels like all of the mega hype was artificial because they were panicking about the box office pretty early… IMO.
Absolutely. If it was a masterpiece they didn't need to panic. I came in expecting a good movie and was left disappointed.
Never believe the hype
this movie was horrible. Ezra was annoying, humor never landed, and the CGI takes you out of the movie.
@@MatthewBreck I didn't believe the hype for a second. However, I didn't expect the movie to be as mediocre as it was either.

I have the same problem with Flash as I did with a majority of the DCEU: there’s so many good things in these movies but they rarely work together to make a good movie. I’m an admitted DC apologist so I’m a lot more forgiving then they probly deserve but I liked the movie- that doesn’t mean I don’t see the moldy stains all over it
The way WB have dealth with both Ezra and Amber will eventually kill both Flash and Aquaman.
Oh god no, not more Snyder garbage.
@@ez6888 I'm more of a Reeve's Batman guy, but they should just stick to his bat-verse for a decade and then go back to DCU Reboot.
@@pbookie41 I agree 100%. They need to make some distance from the shitshow that was (and is) the DCEU. But they wont do that. The next best option is our only hope. It’ll ruin all the momentum of that project if they keep releasing all this garbage all the way up to its release
@@the_0racle oh you got me…my fragile feelings are hurt.
The Quicksilver scenes from the X-Men movies puts that baby scene in The Flash to shame. SMH
I liked the Flash a lot. Probably my favorite of the DCEU movies released in theaters. I could give a dozen reasons why it failed, but the biggest takeaway is.... there is no saving DC movies. Time to take a a 5 year break.
I loved the Flash. And I think you are right. Blue Beetle will suffer too I believe. It's sad....I want DC to thrive.

I really enjoyed The Flash ! It definitely was one of the better DC movies and Ezra Miller was amazing in the film! 👍👏👏👏
It was fun. I loved Ezra’s performance(s).

i hated how the movie made a point about how he wasnt "changing the past" but jumping through universes, so his father at the end is pretty much still in jail.
i also hated how they made a point to show them killing kryptonians with ease. young barry even went and broke one of them in the same way bane broke batman, which i dont think was a reference.
i also hated how kara spent 10 minutes kicking zod's ass, but he just got up and walked away as if nothing.
i hated how aparently, Kara was stronger than zod but lost because he had "military training" but young Barry, just massacred Faora with ease.
i specially hated how Barry said it was a no win situation, even though they showed time and time again that he was more than enough to kill everyone in there with no problems at all. he even killed the big guy by shoving his fist in its chest.
but sure, keep beliving i didnt watch the movie just because im not fanboying over it.
@@the_0racle can you please tell me which parts didnt happen?
because i know for a fact they did.
46:24 I'm sorry everyone?!
52:32 Also I thought Barry put the can back on the wrong shelf by accident
Well it was the finished product
2. - CRINGE
3rd. The whole point of the movie was now undone
4. Keaton and Calle, were so great!!! We need them back in either, the DCU or an Elseworlds movie
It is a great superhero movie full of nostalgic for the fans.👍
3 different regimes The Flash film had to go through which lead to complete shake-up. The surprise was that the George Clooney scene was shot 6 months prior which was a 2 days or 2 week shoot or something.
The movie was a blast. It’s been a while since I had that much fun at the theaters. Was a perfect? No, but it was a solid CB movie 🍿
Dude… that whole “we’re in the speed force” thing excuse for the absolutely horrendously awful cgi is bullshit…
Definitely overgroomed
I liked it, the third act was so so but overall I really enjoyed it. But the movie did what it was supposed to do after James Gunn took over, it ended the Snyderverse and locked it away in a separate universe they no longer have to touch again. Looking forward to what James Gunn will do with the new DCU.
I believe George Reaves did do a movie. When TV series went into syndication they edited it to make some more episodes. I think it was called “Superman and the Mole Men”.
That's right, it was re-edited as a two-part episode
Definitely overhyped. I had fun at moments, but left feeling empty and underwhelmed.
@the Oracle I said in my original post, quote, "It's good. It's fun."
I just got back from seeing Flash for the 2nd time. Loved it more than the 1st time. I actually liked it more than Guardians 3
The Flash is the best DC movie yet. Keaton killed it. Supergirl kicked ass.
Glad you dug!!
It’s a great move! The CGI does not ruin anything for me.
I enjoyed Flash also. Relly liked that scene where Keaton's Bruce Wayne said Gotham has been a safe city.
Having seen it twice, I don't understand how they do a watered down version of the flashpoint story and Barry doesn't even think to check who it was that killed his mum, it makes no sense from a narrative point of view to not even acknowledge it considering he wants his mum back so bad.
Obviously that would have been sequel is about. Plus he got punched out the speed force early
Yes, it was majorly overhyped, the CGI is awful in certain spots, I had issues with the dark flash stuff, and I know it's blasphemy, but I felt like Michael Keaton was shoehorned in (that could have been any other actor that has played batman before IMO.)
Aside from those gripes, I really liked the movie.
🤔
And... I'll still burn shit down if Sasha Calle is recast as Supergirl!!!
🤣
I thought the F-bomb was perfect and it got a huge laugh in my screening. It nailed Barry's frustration with all the different Batmen and lightened the entire scene. I enjoyed it, bummed to see it underperforming this past weekend.
I love the insert of the meal Kristian made
I actually thought the cameo by Game of Thrones actor was going to play Eobard Thawne lol where 18 year Old Barry Allen steals his hotdog.
honestly as i feared these multiverse stories are just not hitting the same for marvel or DC, maybe thats cause movies have just not been good enough but i feel its alot harder to have stakes
Spiderverse can get away with it as its scope is spiderman only
I don't know, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness seemed to pull it off going by box office and reviews.
I think this movie had a lot of outside factors going against it, and the CGI definetly didn't help.
Wait, so did Barry end up in his universe that has been changed or did he end up in another universe that is different?
