Saw you on the John campea show some months back. Really loved the value you brought to the show. You weren’t some nobody. You’re full of knowledge and valuable opinions. I’ve been a fan ever since. Keep up the good work. I love that your podcast actually feels like a podcast and not a show. The format is really casual. You have time to flesh out your opinions and so do your guests. Chris van vilet is the best wrestling interviewer out there man the different wrestlers he gets on is awesome The last one I watched was with Will Osprey love that interview So nice to see him on this show with harloff
I've never heard of Chris Van Vliet before, but I like him already. He and I both recently turned 40 as well. This was an entertaining conversation. As for The Flash bombing (which is very unfortunate given it's actually a good movie), I think one of the factors is that there was no buildup to him getting his own movie. Other than brief cameos in Batman V Superman and the Flash CW series, his only major appearance was in Justice League. To give him his own movie and have it be one of this scale was too much too soon, especially since not too many people know who Ezra Miller is. Audiences simply didn't have enough emotional attachment to both the actor and character to care. Speaking of scale, I'm not sure if going smaller is really the answer, at least when it comes to sequels. There has to be a way to get the budgets back down and still go big. Doing more practical stunts and effects and filming in real locations could go a long way in that. And I will disagree yet again about streaming being a better platform than theaters for mid-budget action movies and R-rated comedies. People's tastes haven't really changed. They just want to see good stuff, no matter the genre. The studios and streamers were the ones who decided for us what we do or don't to see in theaters. The other problem is that whenever studios make them for theaters, they're barely promoted and get released on crowded weekends. That Ben Affleck movie Hypnotic and that Gerard Butler movie Kandahar are prime examples of this.
A bit of irony in you guys talking about how clips are better than watching some long form podcast, yet this was probably the best thing to listen to on your channel yet. At least for me. I put this on at the gym and listened to it like a JRE podcast.
I'm 44 and i "USED" to love goin to the theaters and did it ALOTTTT... Now i really don't care for all the time i have to set aside for it unless i REALLY wanna see the movie and the only "1" that's been out the last year or so that i actually went and saw (day 1) was John Wick 4... I still like the various superhero movies, but i have no problem what-so-ever waiting for physical releases.
I liked this video. I really enjoy the show. I know you're busy but I'm on the East Coast so these later episodes are rough. It didn't pop up in my subscriptions till almost 10pm local time. Love the show though.

Best episode in a while. Although it may fly in the face of the algorithm but I love the longer episodes. I really liked Chris as a guest too even though I barely know of the guy.
Nice conversation between you two. And Chris is right. You totally can get into shape. Sometimes it's about finding easier changes to make. Like walking. It's such an effective way to lose weight and it's very beneficial for your physical and mental health as well. And if you get yourself a standing desk and a small treadmill, you could even walk when doing emailing and desk work. Or just try and find some time to walk outside. Even if it's just 15 minutes, it's better than nothing. But why listen to me? I'm just some random woman on the internet. haha Love your channel and all that you do.
What I'll say about clips is that I only come to UA-cam for long form content. Whether it's podcasts, reviews, video game playthroughs, video essays etc. Those are the channels I choose to support and have community interactions with. If a random clip pops up on my timeline I watch the 10 to 30 seconds, laugh or say that was interesting, and go on about my business. I don't know the actual analytics, but I don't see how its a way to build a fan base...at least on UA-cam. TikTok is a different beast that I know nothing about.

If you ever want a big spectacle comic book movie it's impossible to scale down the budget. Imagine telling the Russo Brothers they needed to scale down Endgame to save money. That movie just wouldn't have been the same with a smaller scale
Thank you guys for talking about Dwayne Johnson, Tom Cruise, etc. I agree with everything you have said. Dwayne gets way too much hate. I’m glad you see through the toxic negativity. 🔥
Thank you Chris. He is completely right about trailer reactions. It has to be someone who is super knowledgeable in the genra, for me to watch them. Like, Black Nerd watching a TMNT trailer.
Yeah you can get Netflix cheap with ads and no HD video with limited number of screens like it's 2010. It wasn't discussed but since Netflix got brought up streaming is more expensive than cable ever was for us at this point so we've started weeding things out and unsubscribing until shows we like come back so it's also a lot more active management. Part of me does also miss the feel of going out to rent something because people often do spend more time looking than actually watching with streaming. Even if there's 5,000 options on Netflix only about 30 are things we'd ever watch.
Personally I have some superhero fatigue, also the quality doesn’t seem to be there for many of the recent comic book films. A lot of them look cheap but somehow cost over $200 million. Are they getting rushed? Idk what the deal is. How did The Flash look so bad with that budget?
Talking about the movie going experience. My closest theater is a 60 mile trip. I've never lived within 20 miles of a theater my entire life and I'm in my 30s. If I had to guess I've seen 20 movies in a theater. I have Netflix and simply don't see a lot of stuff because of finances.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I think the shows, even though some are good, have hurt the films. There’s a limited amount of resources and having to do both shows and films with those same limited resources leads to poor results for both. We keep referencing how great the Phase 1-3 films were, we need to remember that having no shows to allocate writing and visual effects for was able to put those Phase 1-3 films in better position to succeed.
@@joegreene7619yeah it’s funny seeing all the revisionists coming out with all this high praise of the first 3 phases when I remember a few of those movies not being as beloved as they seem today. Feels a lot like looking back with rose tinted glasses.
@@darnell9806I agree there were a few early films that didn’t measure up such as Dark World and Ironman 2, however compared to dumpster fires like Ant-Man Quantumania and Love and Thunder, The Dark World and Ironman 2 look like Infinity War.
I watch UA-cam every single day I always need that reminder to like and I’m glad you say it because I will forget because the content is entertaining and I’ll forget but the moment it’s mentioned I do it
You guys are totally right on the clips. I kept seeing John Cena on clips talking abt movies and his wredtling career, then decided to watch the whole thing

The thing is, several of the Phase 1 movies weren't very good. There were some major misses in there.
I watch UA-cam every single day I always need that reminder to like and I’m glad you say it because I will forget because the content is entertaining and I’ll forget but the moment it’s mentioned I do it
Thank you!!
Shoulda put "Wrestling" in the title. Because that was about 50% of the conversation..
You guys are totally right on the clips.
I kept seeing John Cena on clips talking abt movies and his wredtling career, then decided to watch the whole thing
