With the large wheel diameter and smallish overall size this is probably one of the more practical of portable people movers. Price is almost reasonable too.
The solo wheel is an amazing idea in and of itself but this video had me wondering, is there some way to add a suspension system to the wheel? When you guys were riding off the blocks the landings sounded really dense and harmful to the wheel. A suspension system would add durability and the possibility of riding down staircases during casual use. If you added a basic metal frame attached to an axle supported by springs in the main compartment of the wheel you could integrate some form of barbaric suspension for the guys like you all that do badass tricks on everything. I'm no engineer but I'm hoping the creators at inmotion can build on this idea. Thanks for all the vids! Also much love from AZ.
@@Smokeypot It's about the wheel durability, he didn't talk about people's safety. This wheel costs 1000 dollars and it's a bad idea considering that after a few jumps it can break.
@@nicosoftnt Best Electric Unicycles (2018) Off-Road Review by Kuji Rools. They take a good beating dont think a suspension gonna make them more durable.
@Tyler the suspension would throw off the self balancing system as it would break the physical connection between the footpegs and the wheel. If you bend your knees on landing it will reduce the force taken and make it last longer.
Man, everyone recalled their own personal tumble down a set of stairs on seeing that. He got off pretty lightly as it was. Nothing can snap bones like hitting stairs in a tumbled heap, I've got lumps and notches in a couple of bones I've had for decades now that have either plated or never really repaired properly. Stairs and rails are definitely something that scare me personally.

As crazy as they look, Solowheels are actually totally safe! We have a really advanced safety system that lets riders know if they’re pushing the machine too hard. That’s the “phone off the hook” sound you hear in the video, and if you try to roll too fast, it will tilt back a bit. Almost like automatic brakes. Once you master the wheel, you have total control!

What if the product designer or an owner added removable pegs or small padded protrusions that would go just above where your front/mid point of your feet rest. Then it might be possible to jump with the wheel as the tops of your feet would lift the wheel when they contacted the side parts/pegs. Then you could go up curbs and some stairs possibly(?)
I will admit that I failed to watch the video all the way through on first viewing. Toward the end it is demonstrated that it is possible to do forward jumps upward using ones momentum while squeezing the device between the legs to carry it along with you...or so it appears.
Yeah they'll definitely be people that mod then for extreme use, and maybe even launch separate rough rider factory lines once they're more popular. I can see one with an exoskeleton to give some suspension benefits and some sort of pegs or loops. I'd like one for riding mud and grass hills too, a big knobbly tire one lol ;)

I street skated my unicycle before street skating existed. A down-post and padded unicycle seat is sooooo desirable for maneuverability, upper body weight totally off legs. I balanced a 40 pound Mesa Boogie combo tube amp on the front of the seat, with down-post and axle taking all the weight. With the other hand I pulled a taller 4 x 12" speaker cab* with 2 speakers out, on wheels.
*Silvertone made a very awesome staggered 4 x12" cab with a tapered bottom in the back and a steel axle with a pair of 4" bbq grill style wheels allowed you to tilt it back to pull it. Slightly narrow for a full size amp head. My SOUND CITY 120 head overhung both sides slightly.

Excellent video. I'm buying one for myself for Christmas. And I'm going to ride it all the way to the Braille house from Las Vegas.
