    Great content Steve :) Why would any casino allow Henry to play at their place, when he is obviously an advantage player? Do you guys think that the casinos will eventually allow card counting? I think they should allow counting, and reap the rewards of the "want to be" counters.

      Casinos will let anyone play until they figure out they are losing money on that player. In that case they would then ban them from playing blackjack. I believe that Henry and his wife play mostly video poker nowadays. I also do the same thing. We are only recreational players and we aren't trying to make a living at the game. The comps always seem to be much better in video poker and that helps to cut down the casino advantage.

      They likely "flat bet" him or cap him at a certain bet amount.

      Steve, do you ever consider that you might get preferential treatment because the casinos know who you are? I am not suggesting you deliberately use your position as an author of a Casino Guide to get better comp deals but that the Casino might do that anyway to get a better review?

      In years past I would sometimes take fam (familiarization) trips to visit casinos in a particular city and then write about them. The rooms and food were usually free and the trips were almost always arranged through the area's convention and visitors bureau. That is a standard practice because the visitors bureaus are trying to get travel stories written about their areas. I haven't done that for many years now. Also, in all of those years, the casinos would never treat my gambling play any differently. You would always have to reach certain levels to get certain benefits. Nowadays I still play at a few local casinos around my home town, but I am not given any special treatment.

    I've been considering having a separate bankroll for sidebets. The house I play at has match the dealer, and if I were to get in to it, it would win roughly 1 of 7 times. It pays I believe 12 to 1. Also it provides a feeling of rapport with the dealer and other players.

    In the background a player doesn't double down on 11 (3+8) against the dealer A. This was given as one of the most common misplays in another video by Mr Tamburin

    He's dead right about progressive betting, I always keep my bet the same during a session, playing catch up will do you no good in the long run. That's not to say that you can't increase your bets but before you do so you should build up your bankroll. I once played 7 hrs straight with $100 on a Let it Ride table, by playing smart and conservative it allowed me to increase my chances of winning because it all about being able to see as many hands as possible especially in a game like Let it Ride because of the bonus play. At the time, which was a good 10 years ago the bonus was only $1, and the payout based on just playing $1 was incredible, to my understanding the game has changed quite a bit because the house was getting hammered with the bonus bet being only $1. Let it Ride was a fairly new game at the time and when I learned how the game was played I thought it was hands down one of the best games to play, now since the payout has changed I'm not as crazy about it as I once was.

    I learned how to count cards using hi-lo before I ever learned how to play basic stratey. XD I remember playing through decks and having 14 vs a dealer 2 and just being like "OK, the count is +3 but do I hit or stand? Funny memories.

    Speed Count is good and easy for dumb people like me who have trouble with concentrating when the cards are flying out fast and talking to the dealer.
    After you get comfortable doing that in the casino environment you can move up to reKO (really easy Knock Out)

    I love how when he explains progressive betting system, he tells us about if we lose, we are putting catch up bets... in my opinion, that is NOT a progressive betting system... progressive system is when you win and put a portion of your winnings on your next bet (for example you win a 5 dollar bet so you put 6-7 dollars on the next bet while you take the rest as your winnings).

    • @TheJackpotGents
      @TheJackpotGents  7 років тому +1

      Sorry, but I would have to disagree. The Martingale method would be the most famous progressive betting system and with that system you are required to double your bet after every loss. You can Google "Martingale (betting system)" and see that there is even a Wikipedia page devoted to explaining this system.

    • @balooko31
      @balooko31 7 років тому +1

      He is describing the Martingale system which is still a progressive system (only the progression is increasing based on losses). You are describing a "pressing" type system which is also a progressive system. In my opinion the "pressing" betting system is more enjoyable because you're not betting against a losing streak (which compounds your frustration/anger with losing a bunch of hands). It's like a winning craps table where the winning feels contagious and you can get on a "hot streak." Of course there is no right or wrong betting system (frankly just betting in itself is "wrong" since the game is -EV) so do what you find to be better suited and enjoyable for you.

    If you see two tables, one pays "blackjack 2 to 1" and the other one pays "3 to 2, which table would be favorable for the player?

    • @TheJackpotGents
      @TheJackpotGents  4 роки тому

      2-to-1 for blackjack would be rare to see because a basic strategy player would have an edge over the casino if they offered that payoff.

    • @DragonPupEclipse
      @DragonPupEclipse Рік тому

      Blackjack 2 to 1 is better but rare. If you see that make sure to check other rules. Its’s probably gonna 8 decks and dealer hit soft 17. And other rules that are bad for players.

    Henry-if the casino uses an automatic shuffler in blackjack-meaning at the end of the round or current 'hand', the cards are put in some type of device that makes them disappear, is there any point in card counting? For example-I'm in Toronto Canada, and most of the black jack games I've encountered here, never actually require or perform a table shuffle-they just continously go into some contraption that recycles them or does something with them and they are gone.

    • @TheJackpotGents
      @TheJackpotGents  6 років тому

      You are referring to a continuous shuffling machine and you can't count cards against a continuous shuffling machine. We just did a video where we discussed this subject - 8 Things To Never Do At A Blackjack Table! - watch it here - ua-cam.com/video/aCvLfvaFGeg/v-deo.html

    Does the basic strategy on anerican classic blackjack also applies on european blackjack where late surrender applies?

    • @TheJackpotGents
      @TheJackpotGents  6 років тому

      The major difference between European and U.S. casinos for blackjack is that in Europe the dealer usually only gets one card before the players play out their hands. It's called "no hole card" and you can Google the term. The problem for the player is that if you double down, or split, and the dealer gets a blackjack you will lose all of your hands. This means that the player should be more conservative in these types of games when the dealer is showing a 10 or an ace.

    For the coupon book can you only use the free play coupons once per players card? In other words is it worth it to buy a couple books and keep using the freeplay coupons or is only once a year per players card

    • @TheJackpotGents
      @TheJackpotGents  7 років тому

      There are different restrictions on each gambling coupon. Some are for new members only. Some are valid once per year and some are valid once per month. You can see a list of all coupons here - www.americancasinoguide.com/2017-american-casino-guide-coupon-list It will say if it is only for new members. If you have a question about a coupon, use the contact us link down on the bottom area of the web site.

      I have purchased and used the ACG coupons for 2-3 years and used my player's card. I didn't have any problems using the coupons at the same casino (in different years). I have heard of someone who tried to use the same coupon within a very short amount of time and being denied (I think it was one you had to get a voucher made at the player's lounge). However, if it's a coupon you pull out and use directly at the table, I think that would easily be no problem since it's not being tracked directly to you.

    Companies like the American Casino Guide and Las Vegas Advisor are slowly losing their customers. Coupons are a thing the older generation uses. They are getting too old to travel now or dead.

    • @TheJackpotGents
      @TheJackpotGents  7 років тому +2

      So, if people don't use coupons any more I guess you think that Groupon and Living Social were both bad ideas? We have been in business for 26 years and we are still a profitable company because we offer an excellent value to our customers. We have more than 200 casino coupons in the book and if someone uses just one or two coupons they can more than recover the cost of the book. Also, if someone were to use all of the gambling coupons for Las Vegas they could easily make more than $100.

    • @wardn53
      @wardn53 7 років тому

      I used around 6 coupons while I was in Vegas. A get out of 22 at the D for blackjack and the rest were matchplay. The hotel I stayed at even had coupons for match play and free play. So coupons are only dead to the people who do not use them.

    • @balooko31
