I would have killed for this information to be available to my parents.
As it is I’ll have to keep expanding my own knowledge base to provide experiences that will continue my children’s growth.

This video is helpful. I did not know that gifted children could also have disability or ADHD. It makes complete sense now. Knowing that they are not just one or the other is comforting.

ADHD diagnosed G&T here: I would describe it as soon after learning something wanting to move on to the next thing or if something failed to challenge me I didn’t want to waste time with it.
HOWEVER - when I didn’t master something in a quick to moderately quick time I would also lose interest. This put me behind in a few areas and VASTLY ahead in others.

Thank you, Dr. Lynette - this was really insightful for me as a SEND Teacher. As a dedicated Inclusion professional working now at an International school in the Gulf and parent to a high achiever (my boy is a senior at high school), I wish we had similar programs for G & T or Double Exceptional children in my home country, (India) but we don't so far. Teacher training and parent orientation about G & T is also essential for ensuring appropriate school and home-based educational programs for these children so they sustain their love for learning and develop socio-emotional skills customized to their areas of strength.

Hi Deepanjali, we're so glad you got a lot out of this video! If you're looking for more tools and trainings, a great place to look is our site, TEMPO+ (tempo.txgifted.org/)! There are tons of free resources that get updated all the time. Also, if you become a TAGT member you can access all of the locked content as well. Although we are a Texas based organization, our tools are not all Texas specific. If you have any questions or are interested in any of the other resources we provide, please email us at info@txgifted.org or visit our website at txgifted.org.

After CogAT, what are the names of the two tests that are administered to test students if they are gifted or talented? Thank you for this video. It has been very eye-opening for me to understand the asynchronous nature of cognitive and emotional abilities, especially why my son has been so frustrated or exhibiting behavioral issues at home. And a lot of our perspective as been, “he’s so smart, he should know better” about certain social cues.
