- I vowed no to cruise on inaugural cruise again but I decided to go on the first sailing the Utopia of the Seas. Was the Utopia of the Seas ready? Was this inaugural cruise a mistake?

My daughter and I were there last weekend. We had a fantastic time. Utopia of the sea ⛵ delivered!!
Carnival building 3/8000 passenger ships. You would probably never get me on them. Too many people.

Yeah, slots with perceived progression can be frustrating for sure. Video poker is less stressful and usually less volatile. 😊
We went on the Icon from a casino offer after cruising on the Allure. My wife had 11k points from a 4 day cruise
It was so nice saying hi to you Tony on the 19th sailing. The ship is amazing, we aren't local but I see some more trips in our future.

We are actually on this cruise as well, a bit disappointed as we didn’t get all the inaugural gifts as the first cruise. We were told that we would get all the gifts since we were scheduled to be on the inaugural cruise and they added one before us. 🤷🏻♀️
I would not like a balcony that does not see the ocean.
First 10 seconds...you look exhausted...on your vacation...I am sorry, Tony. Whatever it is, too much sun, not enough sleep, I don't think your job is one I would trade with mine. Cripes, man. I do love your shorter form content because as i say too often, I am no "cruiser". I really just watch for you, or when my face, needs news. Or, sometimes I feel the need to "shout out Ludicris":) I embrace your demeanor, silly asides and your striving, IMO (uneducated) that you are fair and kind.
Hello Tony glad you are enjoying your cruise I will never go on Icon or similiar way too big wish they would build a well designed ship for longer voyages I have been on Ovation 9 times including sailing from Singapore to Sydney the ships are too big for me now.

We are not even interested in sailing on one of these mega cruise ships! Way too big, way too many people. We like the smaller ships!

Small ships are not being ordered because some ports are literally running out of berths to place ships in.
Large ships increase capacity in locations where you physically can’t get more ships in place.
@Danrarbc but on the flip side these huge ships cannot physically go to some of the more interesting ports because they are too big. Why not have a good balance for those people who would probably pay a bit more for a smaller modern ship to go to the more interesting ports of call.
With so many people it would be hard to get into certain venues also I wonder if certain ports are limiting ships being in port due to passenger volume.

I believe getting off/on the ship for B2B's is due to US Customs Border Control - we had the same experience as you when we did our B2B on Valiant Lady in Miami last month.
However, when we did a B2B on Jewel OTS in Amsterdam in Sept 2022, all we had to do was go to the theater where we were issued our new cruise cards, plus a transit card to use if we wanted to get off the ship to walk around central Amsterdam and then get back on, bypassing all the embarkation lines.
So happy we were lucky to have enjoyed Amsterdam when the ship docked right there in the city center. But I understand the locals' position to disallow cruise ships from the city, because it sure was VERY busy right there next to the Amsterdam Centraal station, plus all the river cruise ships, plus all the tour buses, plus the 'land' tourists, in addition to the locals.... another city just loved to death
We hit the Carnival Jubilee last January and found it to be too large for our likes. I can't even imagine 8K passengers!!! That won't be on our calendar ever. Thanks for the good vid!
As someone with limited mobility the ship is huge
We did a weekend cruise on Carnival awhile back and said never again. Granted it was a small ship over a holiday weekend. But being a Floridian, Utopia looks like a good idea for a long weekend. Gonna give it a try.

Do fluffy people fit in the tables for the Royal railways restaurant.. it looks tight..
Views and queus were also on this sailing and they were able to get tickets to the railroad show. If you want to see what it was like they have a video up.

Casino- not sure a loss is worth the rewards unless you want an inside cabin. The upgrades are costly and only for 1, unless you really gambled hard! You still have to pay for double occupancy! Second cruiser gets a discount. Icon probably won’t be on the casino list until the Star comes out. Surprised the Utopia is but limited dates.

Blue lagoon is to be avoided. Extreme expense for very little return. The Hvammsvík Hot Springs is the place to be. Þórufoss waterfall worth worth. Hraunfossar waterfall worth. But if you are going to be on a cruise, you will be limited. The best way to see iceland is a ring road tour. Greenland is NA, Iceland is technically split between NA and Europe, but more closely associates with Europe.
Try Secret Lagoon instead of Blue Lagoon --- more authentic.
Ive seen cozumel with seven or so cruise ships in port. Not much fun😢😢 not to mention mega ships

We just sailed Margaritaville Islander from Tampa it was great! You should try it! I have been on these mega ships I am old school I like the smaller ships. I have been sailing on cruises since 1997 I have been in an inside balcony I agree that you feel like you are not on a cruise. But prices are getting out of control for balcony rooms on these mega ships. We were on a beautiful suite on Margaritaville Islander for way less money! Watch out Carnival!

look at the upside of the $2600 Coke Zero. When you got the second one it dropped average price to $1300 each!!! score. 2598 more and you got it down to $1 each!!!

I would have been with you in the Iceland cruise. But I had to cancel😢. It was one of my dream cruises. But, alas, my daughter was due with my latest grandbaby the first week of August. So, another dream came true instead. I’ll do Iceland at another time.
I think chatting about gambling/ winning free cruises is ok, but kept to a minimum. Some people can barely afford cruise, and false hopes of winning another one isn’t cool. One cruise channel..Weekend Cruiser…game example of spending more money gambling to win cheap cabin cost more than purchasing cruise and getting better cabin! I’m sure it’s not in all cases..just enjoy cruise and if you win you win, but not the end if you don’t..or can’t gamble much😊
If you get the casino offers they can be applied to other cruises no on the “free” list but I don’t think it is a considerable amount

I loved the Aqua show on Harmony- Big Daddy- came back again, and it was cancelled due to Covid, so disappointed- my only good thing about out Harmony. Biotic bar it was cool, but rather have Pesky Partott!
Heard the noise is heard from cabin to cabin- can hear the showers from the hallway. People are complaining about the really loud music blaring 6 am on Boardwalk only 1 cabin service per day? Hope you try the Railway and report the food. Heard it was by invitation only on your cruises. Tx
Hi Tony I scheduled cruise on the Utopia next year. According to other bloggers the ship is a party ship, with parties going to the middle of the nights is that true? Loud music and crowd. As senior I am not looking for that.

I would never pay the money for any cruise that they want to charge to go on Icon of the seas.
First cruise after pandemic was Symphony of the Seas, ‘inside’ balcony. Unfortunately it was not great. Felt like I was in shopping mall. Food was disappointing, very crowded, lines everywhere, unruly kids. Didn’t feel like I was on a cruise.
In January I went on the Harmony my first after the pandemic and outs was just as bad. From the food to the service to the condition of the ship. 😢what's up with Royal
I am watching this late but if you will go to a lagoon, think about sky lagoon vs blue lagoon.

Question- how do you get from London to Southampton? Hotels? London or Southampton and names? Tx
The 2x we sailed out of Southampton we took the National Coach Express bus for really cheap - walked from Heathrow terminal T3 to the LHR Central Bus Station to catch the bus to Southampton Coach Station Harbour Parade, then walked to the Moxy Southampton from there. Each walking segment less than 1/2 mile, about 10 minutes. Then took an Uber to/from the cruise terminal. You'd have to feel comfortable walking with all your luggage (hubby and I each only had a medium-sized roller suitcase), plus good weather (i.e. not raining!) Of course, you can always Uber to the hotel as well. Second time we stayed at an Airbnb right by High St & Town Quay, hoping to just walk to the Ocean Cruise Terminal, but Princess moved our ship from there to the Mayflower Cruise Terminal - think we were bumped by a Cunard ship - so we had to Uber :(
There are many Airbnb's in Southampton - may be worth it for you... stay in the Old Town Heritage Quarter - lots of pubs & restaurants, West Quay shopping, plus interesting history (Titanic, Mayflower, old walls, medieval houses, Jane Austen, etc)!

That’s a pretty big ship for just a weekend cruise. Not interested as it takes a day of travel to get to Florida. Financially makes no sense to me.

No mega ships for me--- don't want or need the drama or 'entertainment' factors and they can have the casinos and art galleries. Give me good music, great food, good shows and places to read, enjoy the sea while taking a dip or a relaxing seating with ocean views and few distractions like a pesky animatronic parrot. The ocean and port itinerary is my jones. My cabin is for sleeping----inside facing balconies are not a thing. Outter facing on warm itineraries. Will love my 15 day Celebrity interior solo cabin, one level from the hideaway and library---heaven! To each his own as to gambling for cruises. Would rather not have to fly to Florida in the same way Tony does not fly to the NYC area to disembark. Three day cruises have no appeal----would feel like a party bus! Not paying big bucks for mega ship bells and whistles. Viva la difference!!!????
