Thanks for this review. It convinced me to buy this vocal multi effect. And I love it. It's really great and has made my singing much better. Thank you!
Great demo. Talking/Singing while flipping thru the presets is a great way to demo the pedal. and yes, i will definitely play harmonica thru my vocal pedal. harmonica effects!
Thanks for the nice, personable demo. I've had one for two years, play with it now & then and that's about it - never really got 100% conversant with it. It seems useful if you need harmony help, but onstage in the 'heat of battle,' trying to keep people on the dance floor or whatever, I've never liked the idea of having to dial in the key, the 3rd harmony, etc. while keeping the effects consistent. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I'll have to figure out how to streamline things. Maybe I could just take the 3 most-used settings and put 'em under the 3 "Favorite Sound" buttons.
I used to have a Digitech connected via midi to my keyboard, so the chords follow the tone you are playing in. How the VE5 recognises the tone for the chorus it it does not have midi in/out?
Great review...just the pros and cons no extra carry on. the one thyhing i needed to know before getting one was wether changing the key for each song was a major 50 button event and its not so all good. Should be more reviews like this
I know I can do the lead and the first harmony which is the 3rd degree, but can I do three part harmony? That is the lead, the first and second harmonies so I can have three voices going together in harmony?.
You can switch between effects with the touch of a button. I actually programmed in all of my effects for my whole set list, and simply dial to the next one before the next song. Takes a little up front work, but easier than trying to figure out what you want on the fly. Have fun!
My most profound apologies; I borrowed this for a review and gave it back. I can't reference the unit and don't remember well enough. I know it takes points off my Man Card to suggest this, but have you read the manual? I seem to recall that I had similar difficulty with set up and found solace there.
How do you stop the acoustic guitar echoing through the unit. I have just brought one and all I can hear is a distorted guitar with the harmony switched on which drowns out the voice and sounds strange
I got one too and am having the same problems and have not yet found an answer. I have an Ovation, Takamine, Yamaha APX and a Tanglewood and all do the same , even with the sound-holes blocked. It also has the same effect on my sons bass guitar played through a separate amp. Totally useless for a guitarist. Also very choosy about which song it will harmonise to. For example if you played 10 songs in the key of D, I find that it will not harmonise with at least one of them. Finally, try playing and singing and changing key at the same time. Very highly overrated and a total waste of money. If you got your problem solved I would be very grateful for any info. Cheers.
i get no effects or harmony...i have it plugged into a Roland street cube....what am i doing wrong...???...i did a reset to factory settings, hoping but no luck?
I have the VE20. does your unit have Dynamics? if so how do you set it? mine has depth and enhance but i'm not sure how to use it and I can't find any info on it anywhere. also how do you set the volume for your lead vocal do you have it at 100? have you tweaked the eq? sorry for all the questions
When recording vocals where are backing tracks coming from? I have an IPhone with a few apps that offer backing tracks. Question: plugging my IPhone to VE-5, will it pick up those backing tracks to accommodate my singing? I appreciate your time and reply, thank you
There are many ways to make the instrumental backing for your vocals. If you are recording a cover tune, search for a karaoke version. Many sound just like the original without the lead vocal. If you are composing your own song and don't play an instrument, you can use GarageBand loops or an online production tool like SoundTrap to arrange prerecorded loops for your backing. Hope this helps.
i set it up wrong!!!!!!!i actually bypassed the unit,mic went right to amp...today i wired it correctly,pretty neat...except cant het a good 3 part harmony going....guess i can do that with the looper....now i need a cheap,(2?) foot switch.......thanx

You can manually edit and adjust every eq and effect on every pre-program, and save it. Or create your own, and save it to any empty slot (there are 20 empty ones for your own combination of effects). If you screw up, you can easily revert to factory settings end start over. Took a little figuring out. Room sound tech guys hate it though, as it throws off their pre-set mic levels, and they have to actually do some work to balance their PA with your voice machine. The Boss puts out quite a bit more signal than just the mic alone, so you’ll probably just have to turn the PA way down for that channel.
Any "momentary on" switch will work. I used a cheap keyboard sustain pedal. Look up the M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal with Non-latching Momentary Switch and 5-foot Cable
@@MoreThanGuitar I use it not for job but just a hobby, this effect is good, what I ask is still worth it using this because this tool is an old production, is there a newer version of this tool, thanks🫡
Mate, your review would have been far more effective if you tested each effect using the same sentence or song rather than screwing around all over the place.

One of the few honest reviews on anything.

Great and simple review! Anyone know what would be an alternative for this one? How fast u can switch between effects in this? Thanks for answers! :)

¡Hola, excelente video!, una duda, ¿se puede conectar a un amplificador FENDER electroacustic 150? ¡de antemano Gracias! ♪♫
Yes. For the external power supply you must use the actual Boss PSA 120. Or it will not work. Otherwise it is a fun toy. Good review thanks.
Love the subtle Monty Python reference at 1:51. Which I'm only assuming was intentional.
Ty for the review. Saved me some money, hehehe. Take care.
Si yo quiero ponerle compresor y al mismo tiempo pitch tune, se puede?
So, can you combine reverb, chorus and pitch correct in one single preset?
thinking of buying one of these, can I use it when recording through an interface?I use sonar x1 le

Thank you- I was interested in this one but I don't need a robot voice.😅
But what about all the robots in your audience who need some one to speak for them???? LMAO!

Oh wow! Thanks!
WOW very good
Sounds good on any song as long as you don't over do it. Kick it in at "Wasted away again" and off before "But I know it's my own damned fault"
NICE

I'm sorrier for the lack of answers. This was a loaner I had for a few weeks to review a while back. I don't remember anything about it s operation.
This video shows you how to set dynamics, etc. ua-cam.com/video/a408Y3t3Khs/v-deo.html

Nishant Mudgal hahahaha
Ha-ha so true, couldnt stop thinking about it!
goooooooooooooooooooood
Can you play guitar into it and does it automatically change harmony note based on the chord?
Doesn't work as well as you'd like but boss makes a harmony pedal. Or the digitech whammy pedal can do that.
Loved this ha ha its so much better when there humour
Is that a brass shim under those sales on that tele?
Yes, now focus, Elliott, it's a review about a vocal effect. ; )

Is it necessary to check or change the keys every time you sing? We have four vocalist in band and they sing diff keys
You'll have to buy a vocal performer for each off them if they sing at the same time
Does this have compressor fx?
good😃

You certainly demo'd Margarita Ville, nothing else it seems... ha ha ha
"That just sounds cheesy." However Buffett's tired old-ass lame duck of a song is hip though.
needs a ring modulator
No that WOULD be a killer effect!
I am selling mine for just 300$ CAD. It is like new. I haven't used it too much
Is this for live performance only or could you hook this up to a laptop and mic to record?
lol, that ensemble from monty python got me.
Thanks, man.
Is it still worth it in 2024?,,or you have suggestion another😊
It's a good tool for a few specific jobs. If you need to do that job, you can probably find one cheaper on Ebay or other.

Well I know your favorite song. Good review though.
it has a noise ..who knows why?
If your microphone uses an XLR cable, then this will work.
Hey - how would it sound on "Margaritaville"?
God knows, but its annoying isn't it

Sounds like to much reverb on every damn preset... or is that your P.A. ? 🤔
