    My hair is similar to your texture but I lost all of it from chemo & i've been following you for the past year. I love your videos. When it grow back I'll be using some of the tips you have posted. Before cancer I had been natural for about three years. Before that my hair was pretty long, hair down to my butt but was severely damaged from heat. Keep the videos coming I love them.

      Hi, I just wanted to know if you could answer a few questions for me, please. So the first question is, why is my hair is the front wavy curly and the hair in the back curly (is it damaged, I also have a couple of straight pieces by my ear)?. Also, for the longest time since 2014, I have been transitioning but, I still straightened it here and there and foolish me used to use the diffuser on the hottest setting every day to achieve curl. I stopped using a diffuser on the hottest setting since the month of January 2017 but, I straightened my hair once in February, twice in March and Twice in April, since then without a heat protectant ( the last time I straightened my hair In April I used a heat protectant). Lastly, in October till December of 2016, I straightened my hair frequently about 5-6 every month. I am really sorry for such a long comment but to wrap it up, I know I may have already answered my own question by typing this comment but, for the most part, is my hair damaged?

      What do u mean? If ur hair is naturally curly u shouldn't have to get them back they should already be there lol

      Red When you use too much heat on your hair, the curl patter disappears. What used to be full, curly, and bouncy will become thin, straight, and limp.

    The shea Moisture leave in conditioner in the yellow jar...HOLY SHIIZZZ. I bleached my hair and it saved it. I actually thought I had redamaged my hair by straightening it once, NOPE I had just stopped using that hair stuff.

    I loved SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie when my hair was heat damaged starting in 2011, and love it even more now that I don't have heat damage. I love using Kinky Curly Knot Today on my healthy hair since I didn't find out about it until then, which was the summer or fall of 2013. When I first transitioned from June 2007 until July 2008 from having relaxed hair, flat twists and cornrow braids were done on my hair, and then shortly before I big chopped in May 2013 from having heat damage, flat twists were done on my hair. Beautiful finger coils tutorial at the end!

    Not gonna lie when i was first transitioning (about a year ago) i found your channel and you honestly saved my hair. My hair is alot heathier and slowly but surely getting closer to the length I originally had with my curly hair. I still straighten it time to time but majority i keep it natural. I learned how to love my curls thanks to you 😊

    I use Garnier and Herbal Essences, and Pantene products too. It works, and if it works, I'm not about to mess with it. I did buy the curl enhancing smoothie by SM, and don't regret that as it is a good product (expensive in the EU, though).

    This is helpful... never mind if others don't like 'too much talking'. There are some things that need to be learned through listening.. & like you said 'patience' is the key to successful transitioning. If they don't have the patience to listen/watch the video until the end, then they may not have enough patience to stick to finding a curly hair routine that works. Talk that makes sense (like this video) is worth listening to. :)

    ..... This is already a thing. Its called a finger coil out. It is used by a lot of african american women with natural hair. Does it really train your curls tho? What does that mean? Does it make your hair more defined? Im confused.

    • @t.6392
      @t.6392 8 років тому +17

      I think it helps you form a better curl pattern. It's my guess. I haven't watched the whole video yet.

    • @Kyonce
      @Kyonce 8 років тому +5

      Cyu Hen finger coil, one strand twist, comb twist are all the same thing. And it will help with training your curl pattern. Bantu knots seem to be quicker imo.

    • @violetpie2941
      @violetpie2941 7 років тому +3

      Cyu Hen yes actually as long as you are doing it like your natural curl pattern goes after a few times the hairs start going back to the natural curl pattern and all you do is a normal wash and go after they are trained

    My hair is super damaged because my mom used to blow it out for me every day so now like half of it curls and half of it is wavy. So I've been trying to recover it for for about a year and a half now. Do you think I can get it back to anything or is it a lost cause?

    I am loving your videos! Yes, your talking ones too darling! Your curls are such an inspiration. I've been all natural for 5 years and found that my cutie were looking, ragged. Your finger curl video right ally helped. I totally forgot I used to do that back in the summer to my poor bleached hair. Just my bangs tho. I didn't realize I could do my whole head! Already after only one time my curls are more together n less single strays of mess.

    Omg thank you !!! My mom has straight hair and her family ( my dad has curly hair) and she doesn't know how to take care of my hair so I have always just used conditioner just normal washing conditioner and I stopped for like 3 years. I use a brush I put it in a pony tail 24 7. I only use water and just brush it ( brush it everyday ) wash it twice a week just shampoo and conditioner and done. I know it's terrible but I did not know until like a 1 that my curls were terrible. I have like a 3b but by now I don't even know. I was so stuck and didn't know what to do so I just continue doing the same. Now I'm really going to try. Thanks for waking me up

    Sayria Jade! Your hair growth from the "My Natural Hair Journey" to the "Tips for Transitioning" is amazing. And that is just from April of this year until this month, right? Wow! That's amazing growth. Any other tips that maybe you didn't mention. Or is it just genetics.. I hear drinking *TONS* of water is the key.

    I definitely need to do that. I just realized that yesterday when I was twisting my hair. I kept wondering why my hair was always frizzy after washing my hair. Cause I always twist my hair in the opposite direction of my curls. Like when my hair is wet and freshly washed my curls are clumped but they are frizzy.

    hey sayria..i understand you probably won't b able to respond to this comment but here goes.. okay so in 6th grade my hair was beautiful, curly, health *like yours* but i completely took it for granted! i hated my hair😭 i wanted straight hair SOOO bad.. i started to straight it weekly.. and i started to notice each time i washed my hair that the curls were falling out, getting very frizzy, and it was just gross💯😭 i did the same 7th grade year because my hair was so gross i didn't know what to do with it so i just continued with the straightening & damaging😩..& well this is my 8th grade year and i've been watching your videos all summer& this year& im absolutely in LOVE .. i want my curly hair back SO bad.. i've gotten some of the seamoisture products& they work really well and my hair is starting to grow healthy and i'm not straightening it anymore, and i'm gonna be needing the big chop, the only problem is when my hair is short i'm afraid it's going to not look good..advise?❤️

    I can relate to this so much, I never straightened my hair I just used to brush the shit out of it because that's what my mom told me ( she has wavy hair ) and underneath all that puffiness was gorgeous bouncy curls. I found this out after going to Florida and not washing my hair ( I shared a room with 4 siblings we had to take turns taking showers ). And I had my mother straighten my hair because one of my friends wanted to see it straightened. I go another year and I decided " hey why not straighten my hair just because " and I had no clue what the hell I was doing. I started straightening my hair very much for the next couple of months, and then we go to Florida again. This time it was just me and 2 of my siblings ( they went let time but since they were toddlers they shared a room with my mom ). So I got my own room and come back from the beach and my hair is absolutely hideous. Now my hair according to EVERYBODY is " losing its softness " or what have you, and I'm scared. After I stopped straightening my hair I started using this product " aphoge keritane reconstructer " that learned about from this video - I forgot how it was spelt - and my curls are somewhat there. Don't get me wrong they were cute and all but they weren't drop dead gorgeous like the ones from the first vacation to Florida I mentioned previously. So tell my why I only dyed my hair twice since then ( I go to a Dominican stylist she's amazing ) and my hair is back to the start. It's not as worse as it was a year ago but it's not as soft or as curly in my opinion. The top of my head is always flat and it just irks my soul. I have since stopped using the keritane reconstructer because I felt my hair got used to it, but I plan on using it again. And I really just won't my gorgeous hair back. Anyone have any tips on what to do and such. I recently got my hair dyed ( the 2nd out of the twice since then ) red because that has been my go to color since elementary school. In case you're wondering yes my mother let me get my hair dyed but it did no damage to it what so ever. I feel like now that I'm really conscious of my hair it's gotten worse. I don't plan on having it re dyed anytime soon, and I plan on going through a hair "repair process" you could say while simultaneously losing weight - I'm extremely over weight [ 5"9 and weigh 250 ] - and I hope it all goes well. Does anyone have any tips and such as to how to make this process work all the more well. I want to wear my hair natural for one of the very few times in my life now that I see everyone, my sister, cousins, and much more people showing them off. If I would've known how beautiful my hair was I wouldve worn it natural since the beginning. I would really appreciate the help and all. Please help me you guys from one curly to the next.

    Question. I don't use combs most of the time I use a comb brush most of the time. Is that okay to do or should I try using big combs most of the time

    would this technique work on hair that isn't as curly as yours? I have some curls (near my face) that are like your natural pattern but most of my hair is looser curls, do you think I should try this technique?

    how long does it usually take you to do the twist out + drying time?? my hair takes forever to dry so this seems like a lengthy process & I don't use any heat tools on my hair

    I used my sister-in-law's flat iron on my hair (way too hot) last summer. It got crazy straight!!! I loved it. But... now my natural curls are NOT the same!!! The curls are not as big and full... especially at the ends. What have I done? And more importantly, can I fix it??

    i saw your video in like january and i loved it soo i decided to try it! after a while of doing it i noticed that curls just dont look right, my friend said that they looked "fake" or you know not natural. last week on my wash day i decided not to do the twist out and just scrunch.... it didnt work :(( my hair was frizzy, my roots didnt have any volume and were more wavy than curly. i had some curls but i they werent nice curls, do you have any tips for making my curls more defined? i cant find ANYTHING!

    What can you tell me about hair growth? My hair has been the same length for a whole year maybe more, its naturaly curly but not as curly as yours and it is so frustrating not seeing any growth on my hair.

    Your twist out came out so pretty..your hair journey inspires me so much because i feel like i can relate 💕.. I tried doing them to train my hair before but i feel like they fall before my hair drys.. Im dealing with some major heat damage and im trying my best not give up on my hair its just my hair is not as full as it used to be nor as curly.. I have some new growth but its also limp :( .. I dont know what to do

      I also had heat damage on the front of my hair and I did tons of braid outs which made trained the hair to be more textured and blend in with the rest. Hope this helps :)

      +Yulia A. Thank you.. Ill try it.. I also think i need to cut some off because they just seen like dead hair but with heat damage its hard for me to see the texture change between the new growth and the heat damaged hair
