- Опубліковано 30 тра 2022
- Professional chef Chris Scott from the Institute of Culinary Education and home cook Beth are trading fish and chips recipes and hitting the kitchen. We set Beth up with $220 worth of ingredients and Chris’s recipe while sending a more modest but still respectable $19 worth of goods back the other way. Food scientist Rose dialed in to lend Beth some expert advice while chef Chris worked some magic to improvise his way up to gourmet. Which fish and chips are you pairing with a pint?

Beth and Chris just seem like the kindest, chillest people in the world and I want to hang out and learn from both of them.
where oldschool and classic meets innovative and a bit flashy =D nice episode :)
I like chef Chris. He's chill and seems like a positive dude.
Frr
Man grows Shiso leaves in his backyard, if that doesn't say chill and positive I don't know what will
Watch Top Chef season 15 in Denver. I adored him.
He sounds like obama
You are right on point!!! Chris and I are first cousins, he's been chilled all his life!!!
If there was ever a doubt that Beth is from the East coast, just watch her break down that lobster with the confidence of a pro.
Beth is one of my favs. Too bad she didn’t get to talk about mozzarella this time. Love how she says “mutz”. This dish looked super yum.
I feel like they cast her whenever there's a dish that involves mozzarella haha
My favourite episode just because of the wholesomeness in the end 😭 just two wholesome people eating comfort food with their calm and peaceful energy
I am honestly amazed that Beth has never filleted a fish.
Yes, but did you see her with that Lobster? Definitely not her first time. 😄
Me too! Especially after seeing her shell that lobster so fast.
To be fair, in the common fish market (well, markets in MY country), you can ask for a fish to be filleted straightforward instead of asking for the whole fish and butcher it yourself. As for shellfish, you have to do the deed yourself.
@@ThatchNetherfold oh, of course, I don't blame her or mean to disparage her, it just seems like a skill she would have you know?
@@DrBrangar I first thought she would have that sort of skill (fish filleting skills) too, until I think a bit deeper about it.
As a Brit I was caught so off guard when they made “chips” by slicing the potato super thin
I know
As an American who watches Epicurious, I was caught off-guard as well!
Also, I’m not british nor do I live there, but street food???
@@dylanzrim3635 as an American who watches way too many British shows. Yes! And it looks amazing
@@dylanzrim3635 It's not a street food, street food is a uniquely American term to describe hot food sold from stalls on the street. Fish and chips comes from brick and mortar Chippies.
I appreciate Chef Chris giving tips to home viewers!
I love Chris! Glad to see him on the show again
Ya!! i hope we can see more from chef Chris!!
"Even the lobster thinks it's ridiculous"😂 ...she already won the cook off at that point..lol
I like how excited Beth was over the ingredients. It was like she couldn't wait to get started and could taste it already.
*Beth is like a Grandma who knows how to do anything with just a little teaching her how to do it*
Beth is the Grandma who grew up watching cooking shows, and now has the chance to host her own
I'm always happy to watch a Beth episode because she feels the most "home cook" out of everyone involved.
She IS a grandma!
Yeah. It's like a grandma skill
Watching these type shows, filleting fish always seems easy, but watching a pretty good chef struggle with it kinda put it in perspective how much practice it takes. But damn did she handle that lobster like a boss!
I really like this pro chef. I could watch him for hours, his manner is so soothing.
he was on top chef and the great soul food cook off. :)
Also, that voice! So soothing
I love Chris' voice. He always sounds so reassuring, even when staring at his restricted ingredients. His and Beth's energies are great.
This is the type of chef I'd want to work with, positive and understanding. He gave props when needed.
I just need to say that I love watching Beth. Her accent sounds exactly like my dearly departed Aunt Carolyn, and Beth is so sweet and passionate about food, I feel such nostalgia watching her.
I love how Chris' recipe book includes the newpaper at the end.
We want more Chris! And more Beth! This video gave us a beautiful combination of chill and wholesome!!
More of these two together please! Love their chemistry and positivity! They remind me of family members having fun comparing recipes in the kitchen!
Yep... Chef Chris is like the nephew showing his cool Auntie Beth a new spin on a dish they both enjoy. Love to see it.
Wow they get to taste each other’s dishes I’m so glad they get to be there in person
Yay Beth is back!! Love both of these chefs!
One of the, if not THE, most wholesome episodes! Love it.
I just love how excited Beth gets about the ingredients
Yay!!!! So glad to see chef Chris here!! He killed it on great soul food cook off! True professional!!!!!!
Another great and wholesome episode, congrats on both cooks !
we ordered fish and chips for lunch right before i saw this video in my YT subs, so clearly it was meant to be! also... as a Brooklyn girl living far away from home, hearing Beth talk in these videos always makes me smile, but it also leaves me missing home.
If you haven't seen Chris on Top Chef Denver, you are missing out. His signature phrase; "MY MAN!"
I adore both chefs; but I do have soft spot for Beth
all the home cooks in this series are fun to watch, but beth is such a treat because it's clear she's a talented cook & has love/respect for food. she broke that lobster down so confidently & she never seems intimidated by ingredients or techniques. she seems like a really cool lady
The beauty of fish and chips is how much is up to interpretation. I know in the uk "chips" are actually like American "french fries" or even "wedges" but any fried potato item virtually works
Neither of them actually made "chips" but they looked so happy doing it 😂😁
You guys always get the best chefs! They’re so down to earth and make me want to try their recipes. Hope we see more Chef Chris in the future!
"Even the lobster thinks that's ridiculous" is gonna be my new catchphrase! Love you, Beth!
Okay so I'm British and I have to say there were a couple of little things that hurt me watching this; tater tots and crisps?! BUT this all looks so tasty, a really good reimagining of classic fish and chips :)
Same it triggered me just a little bit 😂
It hurts, so so bad
I'm not even Brittish and when I saw that was thinking "Comments are going to have a field day with this. Neither chef is making fish and chips"
@@SirOshi I think left to her own devices Beth would have made the closest thing to a fish and chip dinner. Chris threw her a curveball.
wait but beth made chips
Oh my god it toook this long to recognize him. Chef chris is one of my favorite top chef people. Finalist as well
Chris has to be the best pro chef, so sweet and heartwarming. Beth and him really work well together, honestly, the way they shared both there dish like a family style dinner was so cute!
Why, yes, we on the British streets do tend to have fresh live lobsters just hanging around just in case we want some fish and chips.
YAY BETH!!! I love Beth. We haven't seen Beth for awhile and I have really missed her. I would love to cook along side you one day and swap Family recipes and traditions!
As soon as I saw the two cooks I knew this would be a good episode
I want more Beth chef vs home cook! She is doing fantastic ❤️
Beth is my favorite. I scan through all the Epicurious episodes to find her! Now I love Chris as well!! More of these two, please!
Ah yes, it's Chris. My man who always call his chicken BIRD. Birdman!
Love to see more of chef Chris...Great to see him back!
It should be professional chef vs professional grandma
Chef Chris literally grew the leaves in his garden lol
This was so wholesome and awesome! Loved that I learned so much!
They are a dream duo! Beth is always smiling and clearly loves to learn and explore new stuff and chef was just super chill. I love them. They are the perfect duo
"I'm gonna make tater tots! Why not?" because then it's not fish and chips.
And as much as i love watching Beth cook, she is getting american chips confused with british ones
I love seeing Beth. The professional chef explains each step as he goes on. I love that.
Man I could watch these people cook all day with all this chaos going on in the world
One of my favorite chefs and one of my favorite grandmas! 😍
What a great wholesome episode! The food looked delicious as well 😊
Sweet! Finished cooking and now this upload popped up.
Good food AND good show.
Any time Beth is on, it's a great episode!!
Chef Chris and Chef Frank, along with some of the other regulars need to have a cook off. Maybe with an ingredient or theme picked by the viewers.
Both of them are so sweet and talented, I loved this one🥺❤
Love how mommy like Beth is so sweet
$20 for fish and chips cooked at home is still quite expensive
That 220 fish and chips is a travesty. Every Brit cried out at once when they watched it.
Don't think I've seen Chris before but I definitely like him
This fast becoming one of our fav channels and programs
I mean who doesn’t want to go to Beth’s for a wonderful home cooked meal ❤️
And a hug!
Love Beth and Chris!! Glad to see them!
Beth is literally so pleasant and fun to watch!
Beth is finally back! Love both of them… 🥰
Great attempts from both chefs but nothing beats a good British chippy from a takeaway ;)
EDIT: it was definitely kinda painful seeing them do the chips though 🥲 we call those crisps, and our chips are what Americans call fries
wheres the curry sauce :'(
Don't chips have thicker cut?
I agree, cannot beat a fish and chips from England , so watching this did make my heart break 🤣
@@MrKezzaRHCP no tartare sauce or mushy peas either… ( curry sauce belongs with a sausage, not a battered fish fillet).
@@thaliafaudith9387 yes
such a wholesome duo :((( love their energy and hope to see this two more often :D
One of my favorite little tidbits when it comes to professional chefs vs home cooks in any context is that the humble potato can be used as is without having to find something fancier.
I love them both they warm my heart!!
I love the end in the way they came together to taste and see what each other did
I really like Chris. Hope to see more of him in the future!
This is the best episode, both chefs are create wonderful dishes and they were friendly and funny. I liked how the episode end without the hate's comments from Rose
I look forward to every episode!
I was really impressed by both chefs! Beth certainly did much better than I would - hope to see them both again!
This is the most positive comment section I have ever read. Love it
I just finished The Great Soul Food Cookoff, so it’s so cool to see Chef Chris here! I wanna try his food so bad 😭
Glad to see Beth again. Thankfully the fish is battered as she mentioned hiding the butchering is the fish.
Big fan of Beth! I can't help but smile along with her while she cooks.
-fish and chips
-lobster
Okay I’m lost already not gonna lie
Great combo these two!
Omg it is so good to see chris again
I know chef Chris from watching his season of top chef!! He’s awesome, he was one of my favorites!
The fact the chef isn’t British is sad but this is great anyway
Tbh, as Chris noted, fish and chips is pretty much just street food or pub food. It’s not really something that’s ever made ‘gourmet’ so honestly Chris is just as qualified for this as a British chef
@@arthuradams9138 not a street food.
@@marcusbaron4377 though it’s not sold on the street exactly, in spirit it’s the same kind of thing.
@@arthuradams9138 I’d agree if he knew how to make chips. Seeing as his recipe was closer to British crisps then I’d say he’s not qualified. Very confused by the lobster too. And, fish and chips are made gourmet all the time in the UK, so yeah, he doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.
If you guys wanna see more of Beth, she has her own cooking channel called “My Bubbie’s Kitchen” so check that out and support her! I’m happy she’s somewhere other than just this channel so we can see her more often!

Thank you
I love this pair!!! omg
their dynamic is so wholesome lol
Beth is finally back!! I loves it
This episode was ridiculously wholesome!
Where are the mushy peas, chip shop curry sauce and gravy.
making me homesick right there.
Could have made a much better video with those (and proper chips!)
This lady is absolutely delightful; makes me think of cooking with my grandmother
Omg rhe way Chef Chris is feeding Beth 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥰🥰🥰🥰
This is a good show especially using 2 different cooks who cook the same item 😋.
I love Beth's excitement when she bit into that shiso leaf!
I absolutely loved that hug 🫂 ❤️
Bruh these two are such a wholesome duo😭
Ok Chef Chris +Beth? Omg I love it! 😍
YAY BETH IS BACK!!!
Its soo good to see Muriel again
I love watching Chef Chris and Beth!
