Bassist Nikki Sixx ODed on heroin in 1987. He was clinically dead for 2 mins.In the ambulance a paramedic plunged 2 adrenaline needles in to his chest & he comes back.He walked out of the hospital went home.He left a recorded massage on his answering machine "Hey this is Nikki Sixx Im dead" after that the shot up again.Passing out till the next morningThis song is based on that

Been listening to the Crue for 40 years now. The video clips of concerts were from other music videos from years past. "Home Sweet Home" and "Wild Side". If you pick "Home Sweet Home", you'll get your ballad. If you go with "Wild Side", you'll get a glimpse of what Tommy Lee (drummer) brings to the live performances...

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx related the origins of "Kickstart My Heart", which he wrote while the band was already working on Dr. Feelgood. The phrase "kickstart my heart" supposedly refers to Sixx's overdose incident where a paramedic injected his heart with adrenaline; Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler disputes the accuracy of the story, saying he revived Sixx before the paramedics arrived.

They were doing the Generation Swine tour. Before they got cleaned up they used to bring out a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and Nikki and Tommy would drink straight from the bottle,on stage , in the middle of the concert, and Tommy Lee had his drum set that flipped upside down on purpose during his drum solo. The rest of the band is Vince Neil ( vocals) Mick Mars( guitar and in this video voice box) Nikki Sixx(bass guitar)

This was filmed in 1989 when Motley Crue launched their major tour for the album 'Dr. Feelgood' by playing an intimate show at the famous L.A. club Whiskey A-go-go... the venue where Motley were regular performers in the early 80's as a local rock band... The song 'Kickstart my heart' ... was about bassist Nikki Sixx surviving an OD when paramedics were able to jumpstart his heart w/ adrenaline shots...
Motley Crue embodied the 80's excess - big, bad, bold and bombastic... one of the biggest rock/ metal bands of that era... They weren't particularly a great live band nor the most stable 4 guys... but like many great bands, they had an idea and made it work.
Some other Motley Crue classics - 'Dr. Feelgood' ... 'Shout at the devil' ... 'Home sweet home' ... 'Wild side' ... 'Primal scream' ... 'On with the show'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Nikki Sixx (bass) came to L.A. in the 70's hoping to become a rock star, despite the fact he could barely play his instrument... but he had ideas for songs... he had visuals in mind about performing... and he was determined. He was frustrated by 1980 when he left his previous band and made up his mind to form a new band... He met a teenage Tommy Lee (drums) playing in a local band and signed him up... They saw an ad in the paper by a guitar player and met Mick Mars (guitar) - he was quite older than they were and had been playing in the local scene for years...His forte was "loud, rude guitar player"... Finally, Tommy Lee recommended a friend from his high school for the band - Vince Neil (vocals)... They saw him sing for a local cover band and he wasn't a great singer; however, his presence and charisma onstage drove the women wild... Mick Mars recalled telling the band, "I don't care if he can sing... I don't care if he can do anything... The way he got the audience going, that's what we need."
Mick Mars suggested the band name 'Motley Crew'... they changed the spelling to Motley Crue to mimic the beer brand Lowenbrau w/ the dots... The band started playing shows in L.A. wearing spandex, high heel shoes, feminine makeup and big hair... but they were ready to fight anybody who called them "women"... They were a hot ticket in L.A. the first year in 1981 w/ a stage show that had pyro, Nikki Sixx setting himself on fire... and a chainsaw cutting mannequins onstage.
They recorded and released their first album 'Too fast for love' independently in '81 and were signed by major label Elektra Records in 1982 (which also signed Metallica in 1985) to re-release 'Too fast for love'... In 1983, Motley released their 2nd album 'Shout at the Devil'... and it became the iconic 80's rock album w/ shredding guitars and memorable songs... it sold 4x platinum in the US (4 million copies) as Motley Crue spent a drug & alcohol fueled 1984 tour opening for Ozzy Osbourne.
Tragically, the band was hit hard when singer Vince Neil was involved in a car accident in '84 that killed his passenger, drummer Nicholas 'Razzle' Dingley from the band Hanoi Rocks... He had to pay significant damages, spent jail time and was never the same again... He returned to Motley for the album 'Theater of Pain' in 1985... it was another 4x platinum hit as Motley Crue began headlining arenas on tour.
It was also the time when bassist Nikki Sixx began abusing he+++n and put his life at risk...
In 1987, the feminine 'glam' image was so popular at that point that Motley Crue decided to get rid of it... They went for a harder look for the album 'Girls, girls, girls'... another 4x platinum hit and another major success on MTV. They were touring w/ Guns N' Roses as an opening act that year when Nikki Sixx reportedly OD'd on he+++n and the paramedics found him dead... Somehow, they revived him w/ a shot of adrenaline to the heart (That incident inspired his lyrics to 'Kickstart my heart') ... But Nikki apparently returned home that night and shot up again, admitting that he woke up w/ the needle still in his arm.
Motley's managers pulled the band from the road and forced them into rehab to get clean... it worked for a while. Their 5th album 'Dr. Feelgood' in 1989 was focused and one of their best records, charting at #1 and selling 6x platinum in the US.
The band marked their first decade w/ a compilation album 'Decade of decadence' in 1991.
However, the end of the 80's marked a decline for their genre of rock & metal... It did not help in 1992 when they announced that Vince Neil had been fired (or had quit) from Motley Crue... The band hired John Corabi (vocals) and the self-titled 'Motley Crue' album was released in 1994... a heavy, standout record... but it only sold gold (half million copies) and the tour was poorly attended.
With Motley in commercial decline and a 2nd album w/ Corabi becoming problematic, the band decided to reunite w/ Vince Neil in 1996 and released the radically different album 'Generation Swine' in 1997... but it sold even less. Motley Crue parted ways w/ Elektra Records.
In 1998, drummer Tommy Lee was arrested and did jail time for spousal abuse after his marriage to 'Baywatch' actress Pamela Anderson ended... In 1999, he announced he was leaving Motley Crue for a solo career after an altercation w/ Vince Neil.
Motley Crue hired former Ozzy drummer Randy Castillo and recorded 'New Tattoo' in 2000... it failed commercially. Randy Castillo was diagnosed w/ cancer and was replaced for the tour by female drummer Samantha Maloney... Randy Castillo passed away in 2002.
In 2004, Motley Crue was no longer a band and all 4 members had separated... Guitarist Mick Mars was suffering from a spinal condition and needed surgery and treatment... Somehow, managers convinced all 4 (Sixx, Lee, Mars and Neil) to sign up for a Motley Crue reunion tour in 2005 and the band was in demand again... playing arenas and selling out shows. Their next album 'Saints of Los Angeles' in 2008 charted at #4 in the US... In 2014, Motley Crue decided to end their career w/ a 'farewell tour' and filmed their last show for a live album 'The End'.
Nikki Sixx also had success w/ a new band Sixx AM, which sounded nothing like Motley Crue... feat. singer James Michael and guitarist D.J. Ashba... Vince Neil often tours w/ his solo band playing Motley Crue songs in concert.
In 2019, the Motley Crue biography movie 'The Dirt' on Netflix was a huge success and brought renewed interest on Motley Crue... A stadium tour was planned in 2020 to bring back the original Motley Crue on tour... it was postponed until 2022 and was a huge success.
In 2023, guitarist Mick Mars announced his exit from Motley Crue, citing his health issues... Longtime friend John 5 (guitar) who had played w/ Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, signed on w/ Motley Crue for their 2023 tour across the world.

So glad I was around in their hay day. Went to 2 of their concerts, the first one, they were opening for Ozzy Ozborne and literally blew him off the stage. A week later, Ozzy fired them from the tour because they were showing him up. They were amazing back in those days. Raw and in your face!!!

If you want to see agreat video of them in concert, The Same Old Situation really captures their stage show, as does Wild Side, but Same Old shows the more party fun side of their concerts.

Yes. Thank you for watching my request. Knew you’d like it. To see a somewhat live performance of then you should watch the Wild Side video and get ready to see a drummer do something you’ve never seen before. lol. . Thanks again.

The best concert video available is called "Carnival of Sins" from their reunion back in 2005, filmed in Grand Rapids, MI. I saw that tour in nearby Cleveland, OH and it was absolutely spectacular and over the top in all the right ways. I am a lifelong, diehard Crue fan since the beginning when "Live Wire" first debuted on Mtv in 1981. They are still touring, although the original guitarist, Mick Mars is no longer in the band (has been replaced by John 5)...

This band really did the 6 drugs rock n roll to the highest level. I saw them as opener for Maiden in 84 i think, been to more than 1 show with maiden so could be wrong. My youngest brother started to listen to metal in his 14´s and i had many records of them and was playing drums aswell so he would listen to me playing a crue song and play drums. They have made a movie called The dirt, its a fantastic movie made from their books. ty guys for a good reaction

First saw them back in the early 80’s opening for KISS in San Francisco, as a drummer I was blown away by drummer Tommy Lee & Nikki Sixx on bass , they were so good together
Vince Neal on vocals & Mick Mars on guitar
Bottom line I still remember that show and I’d never heard of them before that.

If you watch a Motley Crue concert, there is 2 best choices Canvival of Sins, or CrueFest. Both available on UA-cam
