I worked in retail security once. A white kiosk employee called me to say that a group of black male youths was sitting on a bench being loud and driving business away. I believed him, but I can't very well tell black people to move on because other people are uncomfortable. The kiosk employee then said that the black kids were shouting at people and intimidating them. If the black kids were really harassing people then it would be reasonable to verbally warn and possibly ask them to leave, so I asked the kiosk employee what the kids said that was so harassing. The kiosk employee couldn't specifically answer despite being about 20 feet away. I asked the employee if he had other witnesses and he did not. I told the kiosk employee that if he would like to confront them that I would be present, but he was going to have to do the talking since I was not an eyewitness. The kiosk employee said he wasn't comfortable with that since it was my job. I told him it wasn't my job to remove members of the public without proof.
I still came by to see if anything was going on. The black kids had moved on and the kiosk employee was more concerned about playing on his cell phone than greeting potential customers walking by. I think the latter may have influenced the lack of business.

It is possible the woman would have done this regardless of skin color or race. Keep in mind that her job may require her to stay with the police until there's a resolution. However, I'm aware that it is an old/retired practice for many places. I can't conclude that this was not apart of her job, based off of the video alone, nevertheless. Also, would you feel the same way as now if it was a more expensive item in question of being stolen? For example, a diamond necklace.
We don't know whether this woman had racist intent or racist preferences in this moment (based off of this video alone). However, friends and family of the woman's can attest to their past behavior/actions regarding them doing/committing racism.

They were clearly not hearing these people. When the (wrongfully accused) family got loud, officers stepped in front of Karen with their body language indicating that they were only there to protect Karen. The best way they could’ve de escalated this situation was by siding with the family who was wrongfully accused, verbally admitting that the family was in the right and escorting them inside for a refund. Instead, they told them to “relax” without hearing them out and correcting Karen for her screw up.

Why is every incident about race? And why does a certain demographic have to be a "victim"? The store representative must have had a reason to believe they did not pay for the ball, and if she was mistaken, all the parents had to do was show the receipt and be on their way, not get loud, mouthy, hostile, try and threaten the employee, or pull the race/victim card. Then when the cops got there to sort things out, they mouth off to the cops and give them a hard time. FYI black people: Not everything is racist; nobody is out to get you because you are black, and when you have a disagreement or conflict with someone, quiet, educated, articulate conduct will generally solve the problem, not acting like a savage. And can someone tell me what Nike had to do with this? Or why they needed to apologize to anyone? Is Nike now an anti-white savior to look after the poor picked on the black community? Just wondering. In the words of one of my favorite actors Morgan Freeman, he said: Real racism is dying fast and on life support, and the very little actual racist activity will never go away if we keep talking about it." I am white, have been stopped numerous times over the years to have a receipt checked, and have even been accused of theft. However, I showed my ticket, and they figured out the problem was a clerical error, an employee issue, or the security tag had not been appropriately deactivated. Yes, I was a bit annoyed and offended as I never will steal anything, but the difference is I acted like a mature, educated adult, not like a rampaging animal.

I watched a video of a white guy get tackled in a Walmart and arrested by 4 cops in-front of his infant son for literally no reason (they thought he was a guy someone said was driving drunk). They put him in a cop car, threaten to have his child taken and him go to jail. Not one time did he call them names, disrespect them or even raise his voice. He calmly told them they were wrong like a civilized human being. When they realized they were, the let him go and apologized. He made sure to get all their badge numbers and quietly left. He didn’t yell and scream how he was going to sue them. He just did it. That’s how non-ignorant, respectable people act when something like this happens to them.

After all that hootin and hollering then you decide you should file an official complaint. Should have done that from the beginning and not made yourself look like a lunatic. No need to yell at the cops at that point. I'm black... and if someone wants me to prove I paid for something, imma prove it, then imma start making complaints on paper and in person to the management. I'm not going to act like that so I'm going to be the unpopular opinion here. And all the non black people saying how wrong she was that cant also see how the customers could have also handled it differently, that's just your own way of proving you're not racist. Employees are taught to just let shoplifters go, the fact that she follows them out is terrible

Not true actually. Some companies give benefits/raises if you catch shoplifters. Walmart does it.

No actually more employers should stand up for what’s right , if you don’t you are just promoting and welcoming more people to steal . Have a backbone and stop crime, this weak feminist mentality is making us weak. I understand a company doesn’t want to be liable since a criminal has more rights then the rest of us.
