Thank you
Hi
This Audi A5 1.8 TFSI, came to me due to the engine and EPC lights on...
A quick scan, revealed a few problems with the cooling system, and I even got to the point of finding one of the issues, but then...
Found something way bigger...
I am not sure the owner was aware it, or if it was, he disregarded it as being an issue... little did he know then...😳
Anyway, I ended up not carrying on, as the main problem now, is not something I can undertake...
Still, I thought to share it, it might not be nothing of a special video, but still hope you enjoy it.
Any questions or comments put them below.
Like always, thank you for watching! - Авто та транспорт
On my 17 A4 a coolant leak internally in my waterpump/thermostat that was corroding the connector, making it throw codes for the turbo charger and would misfire/limp mode, leak was so small you couldn't even see it, and never refilled the coolant at 30k miles. Gotta love audi
😅
👍👍👍
This one is a good basket case🤗
Great decision, apart from the con-rod noise, the wiring looked very damaged needs the entire engine wiring harness replaced
Thanks for sharing BRO, Stay Safe😍

I will talk about the kitchen. Some people " throw " away good useful things. I have several acquaintances who do the same. It almost looks like their money grows on trees. I hope you have, or had, a good use for it. Have a good one Luis.
☺️
Yes... it is being fitted around the garage, for storage etc... an ongoing project...🤪
👍👍👍
Great video and you did the right thing. This is how the car is treated by owners who don't care. As another UA-cam channel I follow says 'Always an Audi'. Some would say, the way they are driven and the attitude of the driver can reflect on the condition of the car mechanicals itself.
I suspect this 'was' a cheap auction car, but will stand corrected.
☺️
👍👍👍
The cheap 'tradey' mats give it away!
Spot on we recently had a V8 Range Rover come in for rust repair sill's arches etc luckily the customer mentioned it had been at a garage to get a coolant leak fixed and it still had a problem so we did a few checks and test's on the coolant system before starting the body work and it was obvious that the engine had a serious issue and after giving the customer the bad news the decision to stop was made if he didn't mention it had another problem we would have dived straight into the rust repair
😬
That sounds like a good catch!
👍👍👍
Great job happy Father’s Day have a good one
☺️
Thanks!
👍👍👍
Could be the camshaft advancer, timing chain.
But all this could be going bad for low oil pressure.
So yeah if thats the case the first thing to go wrong is rod knock.
You are right.
☺️
👍👍👍
Bad luck for owner of the vehicle 😢 but luis got away in time😂 these cars are like ball of thread once you start opening its never ending game.cheers
😅
👍👍👍
Hi, where are you based and would you take a look at a 2017 mercedes e class with an intermittent transmission over heating fault code
I had alot of random codes on my A5 when the rear pads were worn
KNOCK KNOCK!!!..who's there?...connecting rods....
😅😅😅
Nice video and after lang time
☺️
👍👍👍
And about the 2 bulbs dead , it's totally normal if it's both genuine they have the exact same lifetime , Tom Denton said something about it in one of his books
☺️
👍👍👍
good morning Luis yes a troubled audi there yes you are right a little / small end but on the speekers of my computer sounded like hydraulic lifters going dry and tappet rattle or ballance shaft ? either way the engine is pooched and needs a good looking at my favourite tool is a long pound through screwdriver against my ear then go on each part of the engine where suspect faulty part i once had a corsa 1.2 the owner said cam rattle done screwdriver test all ok got owner to do same then got a short bit of 10 mm id hose and wnt around intake and exhaust ok then went by spark plugs no2 was loose showed owner with pipe then tightened plug noise went but even i would have sworn it was a cam lifter rattle
👍
As I said, looked like... I have not or was too bothered to investigate any further... as I would not be touching it from here...
Yes, if I was to look deep into it, further testing would be done...
👍👍👍
@@LMAutoRepairs please dont take offence it could very well be small/little ends i am just saying the speakers on my pc did not reproduce the sound very well you are one very very talented guy the engine is shot and as far as what you would do its game over sorry for any misunderstanding
None taken...☺️
To be fair, the sound is never truthful once processed...
Either way, the engine was f****d... 🤪
And that, can't be argued...☺️
👍👍👍
Lm u da best in that town,, 💯👌

Hello I want to buy Audi a4 1.8 tfsi 170hp 2014 year. What advice can you give me good or not Oke engine etc?
Back into the auction probably !!!!
Most likely...
🤪
@@LMAutoRepairs liked that diagnose Dan style bloopers at the end too @! He sure did look a tall guy in that recent photo you had with him
🤪
He is tall indeed...
😅
Wrong diagnostic, TFSI engine got timing issues, but you are correct on need new engine as camshaft has gone 😮
More cam shaft pal that bottom end
I said it looks like...
Until striped neither I or you are correct...

My words are indefinite
Experience makes clear roads in your life
If you do not take care of the Audi car on time, you will get a number of faults that may cost you a price more expensive than the car itself
☺️
Indeed...

I want to Guy this car… its from 2011 tfsi s`line it just has 37700km on it. (23,5k) Miles. For a price of 16950 euro. Should I do it? And is the price ok? Please comment and let me know.
What software do you use for wiring diagrams? I use alldata but find it a bit clunky and unituitive.
HGS
And ELSA for vag group...
👍👍👍
And there's me thinking all TFSI's made that sort of noise 😂 Mind you, that's from an idiot that's just bought a 13 plate Ibiza FR 1.2 TSI 😶 At least I know what to replace on it before I give it to the wife. Oh the joys of German engineering.
😅
The wife will never know that there is a problem...🤪
👍👍👍
@@LMAutoRepairs my other half tells me the problem and 9 out 10 she is right ears like a bat

🤣🤣🤣🤣
bom dia ficamos sem saber o verdadeiro problema deste audi
De certa forma sim...
Mas, como expliquei, eu não faço nem tenho condições the tirar or abrir motores aqui em casa...
👍👍👍
@@LMAutoRepairs so queria saber do primeiro pcode o que era lm auto
If that was the bottom end it would knock on idle aswell. This is an issue with the top end, might even be the camshaft control valve at the front. Try unplugging it and see if the noise stops
You are wrong, many engines have rod knock and have 0 noise at idle speed, they only knock when you rev them.
I have definitely seen that as well...
No issues at idling and noises revving...
The camera to fair, makes the noise coming across slightly different than it was in reality...
That said, I guess that stripped would be difficult to pinpoint the exact problem with the engine...
👍👍👍
sounds like a rod to me especially as its only there once loaded
@@LMAutoRepairs Fair enough, if it's a rod, then when you remove the oil filter cartridge it will have loads of metal in the pleats of the filter. If there's no metal i would look at that camshaft control valve
👍👍

Burned headgasket midel off cylinders
I can confirm, 1.8T is the worst engine vw made for past 20years or so.
And that's saying something, especially from the VAGS Group; the MOST troublesome group of cars on the market in recent times and at present.
Ooh god didn't want to see this comment I've just bought an Audi A5 1.8 tfsi 😭😂
Hit or miss but after 2013 they did get better
How did the owner think that sounds normal It sounds dreadful unless they never heard it before maybe
☺️
Who knows...lol
👍👍👍
the rapp of death, lucky you heard it or you might have been blamed
☺️
👍👍👍
He probably used manufacturer spec engine oil, he should have used 5w40. Big end bearings are shot!
That sounds bad.

Lesson learned...

Hi supa Luis , i would bet on a flooded car , wiring plug in this condition would have beat me in few seconds , best thing to do is brake cleaner and a lighter in this case 🫢
😅😅😅
That would definitely fix it...
👍👍👍
@@LMAutoRepairs seriously so much damage on wiring , this video could confirm a natural disaster would easily happen , expert won't deny a refund 🤫

@@LMAutoRepairsthanks for reply ❤ We already changed the KVM and two new keys programmed to the vehicle but still doors won't lock unlocked with remote , been told by JLR either have to fit new IPC or blank the current IPC to reprogram again , can you help me to blank the correct IPC ?
Is not just programming...
It needs alignment of the modules...
There is an entire procedure that needs doing...
@@LMAutoRepairs We have already done CCF files configuration and immobiliser function but keep failing for security ,
Any advise ?
Is that connected to Land Rover servers online, or offline?
