When I was a kid in Hamilton, Ontario I collected Rona Barrett Hollywood magazines. I was obsessed. What a fabulous interview!! Such a flashback moment for me❤
When I saw this a short time ago, I dropped everything and had to watch. Miss Barrett might think that people today don't know who she is, but to people in my age group, she was a bigger star than most of the stars she interviewed. As a kid and a young person, I never missed any of her interviews, and they were gold. There is a sincerity to her that I didn't find in the few other people that were doing what she was doing, and unlike some of them who shall remain nameless, I didn't find her questions and responses silly. She had a natural curiosity about people but was never salacious. In this interview, she comes across just as sincere as she's always been. I was really touched when she relates her experiences with muscular dystrophy, as I myself had Polio as a kid and had nicknames in school such as "polio case" and worse, so I know that's where she got her compassion for others. You continue to amaze me Mr. Brownstone with the people that you interview, and record their priceless memories. We haven't seen your like since the days of Dick Cavett and David Frost. Bravo.
You have NO IDEA how incredibly touched and grateful I am to you for comparing me to Dick Cavett and David Frost. Thank you so much for your support of our show. Please spread the word!!🙏❤️
That means the world to me. I put my heart and soul into every single episode of our show, whether the guest is famous or not, and feedback like yours is profoundly meaningful to me. There are no words to express my gratitude to you.
Always liked to Rona Barrett. I think she was a better journalist than Barbara Walters by far and much more genuine. It sounds like she knows God and is doing good with her life. May God bless her.
I loved watching Rona's interviews..... I remember very well her interview with Donald Trump and asking hom if he'd run for President - that was back in the '70s ❤ I could to sit down and listen to her every day....
What an amazing woman, and congratulations on another insightful interview! You really knocked this one out of the ballpark, Harvey. I think it's fantastic that she is advocating for seniors, often forgotten about, vulnerable members of society!
Love Rona Barret , a true pioneer in the interview world , she is still beautiful , enjoyed her interviews , and Harvey is a great rising star in his own right ...Loved it
Oh my sweet Harvey! You have made my tired heart so happy for interviewing sweet Rona, Thank you so much for your kind words, for your supreme and absolute major contribution to our community in the people who you have selected to talk to. Another gem of a person, and of course, you and your brilliant leadership in the interview. I am slowly recovering still. As I mentioned earlier to you last month, slow and steady, accent on slow. Unlike the gossip queens of Hollywood, like Luella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, I think Rona Barrett will take more to the grave about some of the stars she interviewed than we’ll ever know about them. Her discretion speaks volumes about her integrity as an individual. How many would have let a simple thing like a death get in the way of trashing someone who tried to harm them? But she did, without a second thought. Thank you again, Harvey, for another great interview. I really have to pick up her books now… Keep up the great work, Harvey!
Thank you Will for your beautiful feedback about this interview. Rona really believed she was forgotten by the public, and she’s thrilled that she did this interview!! She’s loving all these wonderful comments!
I can't get enough of Rona Barrett. I read her book when I was 14 and was so inspired by her story. She is just precious and a huge inspiration Thank you for this great interview!

What a lovely interview with such an amazing professional and now as a very caring individual for the elderly community. Kudos to Ms. Barrett for giving back so much. ❤
Wow, I just came across this video! I grew up watching all of the Rona Barrett interviews on TV and she was such a huge popular icon back in the day. What a treasure. A class act that she is and always will be. This was a wonderful interview thank you. ❤
Great to see Rona again via this fascinating interview. Grew up in an isolated area and, loving movies, Rona's magazines and interviews provided a look into a world that seemed untouchable. Love the current work she's doing as well- what an inspiration!
Harvey, you did a great interview! I remember Rona back in the day and I loved her personal fashion style (hair, clothes and accessories). I enjoyed seeing her at a Hollywood Autograph Show about 10 years ago. Anyway, I have read good things about Grant Tinker and after hearing Rona's story, he sounds like even more of a nice man who did the honorable thing.
Yes, Harvey, she certainly is a legend. I remember as a kid, my mom would always come home with the latest movie magazines and plenty of Rona Barrett. I LOVED your interview of her! What an historical piece. You did such a great job. I imagine it took a bit of prep work before you did this interview. You probably have more notes than you actually used. If so, maybe you could do another interview with her. I could easily have listened to another hour of you and Ms. Barrett. Thank you for such an important and pleasurable piece!

I have always loved Rona. When I was a kid, I would always wait for her segments on Good Morning America before it was time to go to school. I would go to our store to buy her magazines. If they didn't have any new ones, I would catch a bus (sometimes having to transfer to a cross-town bus) to go to the big Safeway store where they had a large magazine rack and they always had a Rona Barrett magazine selection.
I never forgot Rona Barrett remembering her being as important a part of Good Morning America as David Hartman and Joan London. Really enjoyed this interview.
I had a crush on Nancy Sinatra Jr when I was a teenager.Rona Barrettes magizine always had pictures of her and Tina and Nancy Sinatra Sr. Always wondered why it stopped..Thankful Rona found her calling for Senior Citizens .Loved the interveiw.
Back in the 1970's, I wrote a letter to the Rona Barrett Magazine re: Raquel Welch. To my surprise, the letter was published. My favorite Rona issues was when she had Diana Ross on the cover promoting "Mahogany" 1975 , and when Welch was on the cover promoting "The Wild Party"1974.

She possessed the magic of the era and had a credibility to capture my interest. And controversial. I can't take my eye off Rona Barrett in this interview. The thing about Harvey Blackstone that I am personally amazed by is that I am interested in Hollywood of this period but only within my small circle of favorites. I think you gave Miss Rona much more than she bargined for in this very thoughtful interview from both of you. I felt she was moved by her own nostalga being brought back to her by her very informed and interested host.
Thanks so much for your very kind comments about me. I appreciate your positive feedback more than you can ever know. I’m glad you like my choice of guests. Of course I also want to interview the big A-list stars, but I really love getting to speak with the people whom I idolized when I was growing up.
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 I certainly get wanting to interview A-list stars, but if you are refering to contemporary artists we are so oversaturated with information on everyone now. In telling all people don't have the mystique they once had and while there might be a smaller audience for actors who's day has come and gone the conversations you do have are bits of gold! Again, I am just amazed at the fan favorites that you have selected to appear under your spotlight. Rona is very soulful and I'm still thinking about her 'the morning after'...
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 Thank you for doing these amazing interviews, Harvey. You're preserving film & TV history with such mastery, with your encyclopedic knowledge and natural connection with every guest.
If you were a Gay Teen Boy in the 1970s - you LIVED for Rona Barrett's HOLLYWOOD Magazine ! It made the other movie magazines look tired and raggy . Especially that awful Movie & TV Mirror or whatever was on the racks . But Rona ALWAYS had lots of LUCY , Farrah and CHER coverage ! I think the magazine when under in the early 1980s . But the APEX of Rona Barretts Hollywood was the "Disco Era". P.S. Rona was the first female reporter at the house where Sharon Tate was killed by the Manson family. Aug. 9th 1969.
Sometimes your questions are a little "softball" and I can understand that because some of the celebrities here are older and have been through a lot so ...I understand the need to be gracious and gentle . I have not met many celebrities in my life BUT , when I do - I ask them "Who did you meet in Hollywood that you LIKED and who did you NOT like?" . I also ask "Who did you always want to meet you never did?". But that's just me.... @@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980
The interview was fantastic. Harvey, you're hitting home runs each and every interview! As a kid in the 70's I loved Rona Barrett's segments on KABC TV here in Los Angeles!
Today it’s that way, but I can tell you that knowing things about the stars in the past, such as what car they drove, what their home was like, what hobbies that had, women liked to hear about the fashion and styles the women stars had…. Those stars of the past were admired. Then it became really bad scandals. That’s in this celebrity era. I’d say that began in the 1990s. The media loves these things. But it wasn’t always like that.
She was highly trusted, admired and respected. How do you think she was able to interview all those major stars? Trust me…if you’re not trusted and respected within the industry, you don’t get access to big name stars. I’m a talk show host, so I know this to be true.
Rona looks fabulous
She’s wonderful inside and out
Take care of others, especially seniors, the way you would want to be cared for. She is right.
I hope you enjoyed the interview.

Of course I also want to interview the big A-list stars, but I really love getting to speak with the people whom I idolized when I was growing up.
Yes Rona told me she thought she had been forgotten. It meant a lot to her to be invited to appear on our show. It meant a lot to me too!
Oh Rona, everyone remembers you!
That’s so nice of you to say.
We know who you are, Rona. I miss your Gossip and Hollywood magazines, and your better-than-Barbara-Walters celebrity interviews!
She will really love your message. Thanks!!
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 Thank you for doing these amazing interviews, Harvey. You're preserving film & TV history with such mastery, with your encyclopedic knowledge and natural connection with every guest.
@angelman51266 OMG what a wonderful thing to say!! Thank you so much!!

The legendary Rona Barrett. A class act within the Hollywood community. Always admired her. 🤩
What did you think of the interview?
Great interview that also honored Rona Barrett’s work and gave us insight to her many achievments@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980
I watched this woman for years on Metromedia. Mostly WNEW in New York.
She was one of my role models
Aug. 9th 1969.
Tell me about it!!! What did you think of the interview?
@westy40 OMG I’m so excited and grateful to know that I’m making our viewers happy with our show!
Very true
❤❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Way before Joan rivers….
Everyone knew Rona’s name
Not true. Joan Rivers was known way before Rona. BUT way before Barbara Walters, everyone knew Rona!
I just started watching her with her husband in the game show Tattletales
Really? That’s so cool!
When was Rona Barrett ever trusted and respected be the entertainment industry or the public? Gossip is what she is known for.
She was highly trusted, admired and respected. How do you think she was able to interview all those major stars? Trust me…if you’re not trusted and respected within the industry, you don’t get access to big name stars. I’m a talk show host, so I know this to be true.
Yes she did this before B . Walters ....
Absolutely true
In America a well known famous person can be one day known to everybody and within a few years be unknown and forgotten.
Sad commentary.
Yup. That’s the fickle nature of fame.
ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED TO HER
WELL NOW YOU KNOW!! Thanks for watching!
I need to go ck it out
Ck what out?
