When I saw this a short time ago, I dropped everything and had to watch. Miss Barrett might think that people today don't know who she is, but to people in my age group, she was a bigger star than most of the stars she interviewed. As a kid and a young person, I never missed any of her interviews, and they were gold. There is a sincerity to her that I didn't find in the few other people that were doing what she was doing, and unlike some of them who shall remain nameless, I didn't find her questions and responses silly. She had a natural curiosity about people but was never salacious. In this interview, she comes across just as sincere as she's always been. I was really touched when she relates her experiences with muscular dystrophy, as I myself had Polio as a kid and had nicknames in school such as "polio case" and worse, so I know that's where she got her compassion for others. You continue to amaze me Mr. Brownstone with the people that you interview, and record their priceless memories. We haven't seen your like since the days of Dick Cavett and David Frost. Bravo.

Unlike the gossip queens of Hollywood, like Luella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, I think Rona Barrett will take more to the grave about some of the stars she interviewed than we’ll ever know about them. Her discretion speaks volumes about her integrity as an individual. How many would have let a simple thing like a death get in the way of trashing someone who tried to harm them? But she did, without a second thought.
Thank you again, Harvey, for another great interview. I really have to pick up her books now…
Keep up the great work, Harvey!

What an historical piece. You did such a great job. I imagine it took a bit of prep work before you did this interview. You probably have more notes than you actually used. I always found Rona Barrett unique and fascinating. Here, no less charasmatic all these years later. Tough and vunerable. And always done up to a tee. She possessed the magic of the era and had a credibility to capture my interest. And controversial. I can't take my eye off Rona Barrett in this interview. The thing about Harvey Blackstone that I am personally amazed by is that I am interested in Hollywood of this period but only within my small circle of favorites. (My brother would say, "You are a movie fan. No, that's not right. You are a fan of the movies you love") Of my "small circle of friends" you, Harvey, have plucked several of them out of obscurity to interview. I would think there might not be that big a market for John Davidson & Lesley Ann Warren of The Happiest Millionaire today, but you have brought them back to life! And there have been a few other interviews you've done (Tina Cole?) to capture my imagination. In your selection of people to interview you do not go for the obvious. Tody with this inerview Rona Barrett truly calls out to me and I wish her the very best.

@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 I certainly get wanting to interview A-list stars, but if you are refering to contemporary artists we are so oversaturated with information on everyone now. In telling all people don't have the mystique they once had and while there might be a smaller audience for actors who's day has come and gone the conversations you do have are bits of gold! Again, I am just amazed at the fan favorites that you have selected to appear under your spotlight. Rona is very soulful and I'm still thinking about her 'the morning after'...

If you were a Gay Teen Boy in the 1970s - you LIVED for Rona Barrett's HOLLYWOOD Magazine ! It made the other movie magazines look tired and raggy . Especially that awful Movie & TV Mirror or whatever was on the racks . But Rona ALWAYS had lots of LUCY , Farrah and CHER coverage ! I think the magazine when under in the early 1980s . But the APEX of Rona Barretts Hollywood was the "Disco Era". P.S. Rona was the first female reporter at the house where Sharon Tate was killed by the Manson family. Aug. 9th 1969.

Sometimes your questions are a little "softball" and I can understand that because some of the celebrities here are older and have been through a lot so ...I understand the need to be gracious and gentle . I have not met many celebrities in my life BUT , when I do - I ask them "Who did you meet in Hollywood that you LIKED and who did you NOT like?" . I also ask "Who did you always want to meet you never did?". But that's just me.... @@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980

The interview was fantastic. Harvey, you're hitting home runs each and every interview!
As a kid in the 70's I loved Rona Barrett's segments on KABC TV here in Los Angeles!

Today it’s that way, but I can tell you that knowing things about the stars in the past, such as what car they drove, what their home was like, what hobbies that had, women liked to hear about the fashion and styles the women stars had…. Those stars of the past were admired.
Then it became really bad scandals. That’s in this celebrity era. I’d say that began in the 1990s. The media loves these things. But it wasn’t always like that.

When was Rona Barrett ever trusted and respected be the entertainment industry or the public? Gossip is what she is known for.

She was highly trusted, admired and respected. How do you think she was able to interview all those major stars? Trust me…if you’re not trusted and respected within the industry, you don’t get access to big name stars. I’m a talk show host, so I know this to be true.

In America a well known famous person can be one day known to everybody and within a few years be unknown and forgotten.
    Sad commentary.
