- Studio GaGa has chosen to continue Berserk with Koji Mori, a close friend of Miura's, and their own tutoring, in mind. Here are my thoughts of the first three chapters and the trajectory for the story.

Imagine being the only person on earth who knows how berserk ends after Miura died. What an insane burden, god bless Mori for being so passionate about giving the fans the most accurate ending we can have with all things considered

I think it’s important to note when critiquing the story continuation that we are only getting what Mori knows from Miura himself, so fragmented though it may turn out, we will still be getting his intended story which is incredibly lucky and has me really excited
Yea a lot of people are missing this, yea the art won’t be as good and the pacing may be a little off but this is pretty much best case scenario considering the circumstances

@@niffthesniff8258 Fair enough, I was under the impression you were ridiculing the story remnants. The art is bound to change given Miura is no longer with us, and there is valid reason to be conflicted about it.
So if I remember correctly from my 6th and most recent reread, the necklace that broke was given to Casca by Flora and it had the same protective marks on it that she drew around Guts’ Brand. The reasoning she gave was that she’d never be able to sit Casca down long enough to go through the trouble of applying the marks so instead she just gave her a protective talisman. Now that it’s broken, she’ll attract evil spirits once again
Also zodd has traveled with griffith before when he turned into the moonlight boy, remember the chapter where you see his horn sticking out from the ridge
It does feel a tad off but for a first outing they outdid themselves.
When I heard it was continuing, I was VERY nervous. While it's fractured, this is definitely the best possible outcome in this scenario

I have to go back and see this, was this something you realized yourself or from a video analysis? I’d love to watch it if so! And if it’s you, great catch. That would really make what’s otherwise an unclear panel (are we really seeing what we think we are?) to making it seem much more likely it was, in fact, a cut hair.

I think Mori should try to put himself into the story
Miura has always put so much of his thougts and emotions into Berserk, that i think the only way he can reach the same level of quality when he tries to fill in the gaps with his very own feelings, as stupid as that sounds, and shouldn't shy away from dialogue
It wont be the Berserk Miura would have given us, but i think it would be the closest thing to a rightful ending
Just telling the story page to page without any original thougts would probably be worse in my opinion since that never was Berserk

@AshTheFlash100 Both Miura and Mori are Guts and Griffith, two sides of the same coin.
Mori has also made some amazing mangas himself, so not putting himself into Berserk would be a waste on both ends.
That would be a neat idea, but won’t people complain that he is not doing the story the way Miura intended to be if he put his own thoughts into any new upcoming chapters
agreed i just wish they retitled the series first, instead of just continuing It, is rather It be someone elses Berserk than trying to fake Miura
I have no doubt over the coming dozens of chapters the art will change for the character's. Whether that means getting closer to Miura's over time or becoming something else. Either way it will be drawn to an extent of detail more than what most could achieve in the time.

As much as there are fair problems you have pointed out (did not realise Schirke and Farnese vanished!) I'm willing to give all plot holes, slight art changes etc a pass. We get the end of berserk, or at least an end of berserk, written by the person who knows best, and drawn by the studio that could be the only one. I'm happy to make that deal to be honest, though I do take your points on some of the things that can feel... missing
Honestly you have to ask yourself if you could forget there existence so easily werr they really that important at all?
My personal guess is that they want to save that last drawn frame for gut's last conflict, which would add a really nice closure in a way
feels a bit biased against the new team, im not sure you would have nitpicked some small things if it was made by muira himself
I'm happy with just about everything about this revivial, outside of the fact that Casca was brought back only to be IMMEDIATELY disempowered again. It feels like she's being used in this scene more as a plot device than an actual character. What happens with her character development if she is truly abducted by Griffith could make up for this, but it was a bit of a disappointment.

To be fair with regards to when Griffith went over to Casca and held her, I personally had this feeling of dread and anxiety when reading it. Like I wanted to scream out to Casca to wake her up. It was when I truly felt like Berserk was in good hands.
I honestly think that the Armor didn't activate at that moment just because Guts is afraid of either losing Casca again and/or losing everyone he have met and helped him over the journey so far. Afraid of going back to thst state of his when he was alone, wandering with Casca, killing Apostles and other creatures, just after he got inner peace in the Island. So, it's rather a thing about protection instead of vengeance mostly (although, I might be wrong. I'm just interpreting what I saw).
When I initially heard the news that Berserk would continue, I was a little worried. Then, I did the research as to who would be working on it, I read the interviews with Mori, and I decided "Okay, this could actually be really good."
I was very pleasantly surprised with the new chapters. For the slight differences in art style, it's not overly noticeable to me, it doesn't break the "Berserk feel" for me. I have high hopes for Berserk ending, and I am happy that Miura's magnum opus will get some kind of resolution.
Even if the team totally botches "New Berserk's" ending, Miura's art will still be there, it will endure, and if the world has any justice, many of his panels will end up in art exhibits around the world.
I think it’s best to approach Berserk’s continuation as a ''tale'', much in its classical sense. Like, you could literally blow minds if you simply told Golden Age Arc in chronological order to someone who’s interested in fantasy.
It’s what Sam wondered about during the Lord of the Rings trilogy: What kind of tales and songs will they sing about us?
No matter how incomplete it may be, we’re still getting the tale of Guts and Griffith in a way that is truthful to the author’s intentions. Berserk’s narrative is strong enough to be just that.

I think schierke reacted that way because it was her first time actually seeing Griffith in person. She might’ve known what / who he is, and the power he possesses, but facing it directly would’ve def provoked a strong response. All her astral knowledge and ability couldn’t prepare her for truly standing before a GODHAND

I definitely noticed the differences as well, and to me it was..well chapter 365 was the end of berserk to me, and spiritually I think it was the perfect ending. From what I've seen of the fandom, I think a lot of people shared this sentiment to a certain extent. So for me the slowed down chapters felt like a sequel, or a return in a sense. I can't think any series that ended and then started again in the middle of a single sword swing lol.
It felt impactful, seeing everyones reaction to Griffith was the same way I felt seeing him. And seeing the dragonslayer just go through him...well I despaired for guts in that moment.
I think it makes sense for guts' journey to go back to midland. His journey with the band of the hawk started in midland and it will end in midland.
I think mori is just trying to take the transition slowly so people can get used to it. Plus he’s probably very worried that people won’t like his work and end up with a bad reception so maybe that’s why the chapters are short with not much dialogue. I think it will get better once he hits his stride and gains some confidence from positive reception.
It just feel like 6 chapters worth of plot cramped into 2. Lot of missed opporunities I would say.
Hmmm, about the arrival of Zodd; didn’t Zodd follow the child and was hiding on the cliff? Also, Elf-island existed in the real world however, humans couldn’t access the location of such. However, with the merging of the worlds to create fantasia, wouldn’t it then be that these apostles can also access the space dependent on strength? That would also mean other apostles would have the chance to as well, like with what happened with Shireke’s master no? Just thoughts.
I like the new chapters and I’m excited to see where it goes. But I view where Miura left off as the true ending. The words from Miura’s second to last chapter “You must determine what to make of your fury. Whether it is to be the breath that keeps you alive, or the hellfire that consumes you from within.” and in the final chapter that follows we see Griffith stand before guts. Such a poetic end to such an emotional story. Almost a call to action for the readers who connect so deeply with Guts. Symbolizing the confrontation of their trauma, and the choice being given to them on how they’ll heal or succumb to it.
I have the feeling this is going to turn out greatly, most likely Miura's apprentices will slowly pick up his style and better replicate it and Mori will give us the ending Miura envisioned so long ago.

I'm glad you made this video because it highlights something I haven't seen many admit so far. This FEELS different. It's a different pace at the very least, and that's not bad, but it does seem like there's going to be a little more of an adjustment period going forward.

True berserk fans are grateful to get any and everything new we get. The crybaby fans need to think better and realize it’s not like Kentaro’s friends and crew are untalented scrubs who are just winging it. They are talented, plus I know kentaro at least left them with the bulk of the outline, all they have to do is have fun and be creative in rendering arcs, 1 at a time.
We don’t know if an outline was left behind. We only know that Mori is writing what he remembers from Miura

I believe is too soon to talk about this new Berserk, yes it comes out faster and the drawings are a bit different, but we haven't yet seen a conversation or how the plot is going to develop, not anything significantly anyway.
I don't think there'll be any plot hole in terms of Zodd following Griffith through the tree.
The first time Moonlight Child appeared, Zodd was there at the beach, guarding Griffith's body (There's a panel which u can see his horn above the hills Guts turns back to look). The second time on the Sea God island and the ship the Child used the tree branches to get there and go away, so then Zodd lost Griffith and couldn't guard him. He very likely notified Sonia of this and since Sonia couldn't track Griffith's od, the Child went back to Falconia before transforming back to Griffith.
Now the third time, the same thing happened, Zodd not finding the body and consulting Sonia, but now the Child losing the track of time and not returning within time of the full moon going away, Griffith is now back. Therefore Sonia tracks Griffith's od and guides Zodd and possibly even more of his followers through the tree to the Elf Island.
If that's how they're setting it up, it's not at all a plot hole
I've enjoyed the first few chapters. Minimal dialogue and a focus on storytelling through action and art has been... refreshing after delving into the deeplore and backstories of characters like Skull Knight and restoring Casca and all the dialogue that brought. Sometimes, less is more, or at least, gives you a breath to digest the information.
It;s ok..sadly the art is a hard downgrade. But it's ok. like there as one page where half fg Gut's face is just black pixels because they messed up drawing the berserk armor. Griffith is ok but not quite as beautiful as he should be. Like I said it's ok but is it a downgrade from the master himself.
Griffith didn't get there per body swap, he travelled there and Zodd followed him, like he always does when Griffith is moonlightboy. no need for sonia
Zod was at the beach on the cliffs as well when the moonlight child showed up. I assumed he just follows Griffith around by his own power. After all, he spent a lot of time pre-Griffith bouncing around the world. Likely he knows some shortcuts.
He was already near Griffith at that point though. He was already with him at Vrittanis. Really can’t compare those two instances tbh.
3:18 idk why u don't remember the necklace, I've read the series more recently so I guess that helps, but the necklace is the one Flora made her to lower the effect of the brand on her. As she carved one for Guts on the Berserker Armor. She's had it since volume 27
So essentially the brand protection necklace Flora made her is now broken
I wonder if Mori knows something about the small things like the Behelit Guts has.
Those double page spreads where amazing. They felt very much needed due to the significance of what is happening at this moment

And it was guts who stopped his swing from hitting casca. This also mirrors when he stopped his swing when he left the band of the hawk.
I think it’s possible that Zodd followed the moonlight boy and couldn’t navigate the tree but only arrived late due to the time dilation effects of Elfhelm.

the evil spirits come ot of the underground because they are the real inhabitant of the islands who were victim of an anciant war we see it when shierke goes underground with morda and all the wickerman and evil creatures that live there kind of like what happened in the tower of rebirth

Post - Eclipse Casca was still great imo. Her mind was literally broken after the Eclipse, what did people want from her after that? Also since Volume 22 the entire point of Guts' journey was to try and bring back her old self. It's not like her character was being handled poorly. It was heartbreaking and something i'd never seen before in a story. But yes, i am pretty sceptical if the now "sane" Casca will just have to be saved by the gang.
Imo the decision to release chapters every two weeks is not optimal. I'd prefer if they took a bit more time to add more detail and development to the story rather than release 3 chapters back to back that are worth the same one little chapter from Miura in terms of page number. I will be still more than happy with a real chapter every one or two months. What do you think?

Don’t really care much for Neo-Berserk at the moment, mostly because it is not coming from the mind of the man himself, Kentaro Miura. But any chapter 364 is non-canon IMO.
Agreed. Imo I think koji is lying about miura sharing the ending since miura comes up with shit as he goes along.
For a long time I've had a feeling that Farny will be an important part of any "final showdown" and she will use her magic abilities in an impressive way, however my theory is that she will end up dying in the process but feel at peace with it because it helped save her friends. Might be a little cliché but her character buildup had me feeling like she's going to have a very big moment with her magic skills she's been learning from Sharky
The amount of judgement from fans and influencers from just 30 pages of Mori Studio Gaga's Berserk is... a bit too much. Give 'em time, Miura only let SG do like 1% of the drawings before and Mori it's still getting the pace right... I'll judge 'em in maybe 300 pages worth of manga...
I myself theorise that reason why Zodd was able to get to Elfheilm was due to either Sonia not being whole truthful or nor even knowing as much as she claims to know. Also I think the ground erupting is due to the tooth of the World tree now expanding into Elfheil now that the Spirit tree is dead and as such no longer acting as a parasite for the World tree.
Sonia makes me think of The Whore of Babylon, there only to lead people to sin and towards Satan or something like that

Like Skull Knight. They feel the pathways of causality and end up being in the right place at the right time almost all the time. I also think he's aware of Griffiths 3 forms. Come on now. He's nakey Griffiths most deadliest asset. Griffith technically doesn't even need Zodd. He's Femto. He can fly already. Zodd is Griffiths Left Hand man. Sonia his Right. They're in the know... mostly.

I did feel like the latest three chapters were a little off from the original, feeling much more chaotic and hard to follow with various action panels of smear-marks after smear-marks, and the lack of dialogue was disapointing as it felt like the chapters were over in seconds. nonetheless, I'm still looking forward to seeing where the series will go
I feel like the fact that The beast didn't take over is a good sign. I think the bee signifies his shadow, in Jungian psychology terms. That's what the dwarvin blacksmith meant. He's not utilizing the full power because hes not integrating his shadow. I think they might be starting to show that!!!
NO, zodd being there isn't a plot hole by any stretch of imagination, please look at the 13 page of the chapter 238, you will see that zodd aways is close to the moonlight boy, also, it's described in this chapter that a wedge is formed in the island barrier.
Griffith and Zodd were already right by the group at that point in Vrittanis though.
Good video but I’ll be honest a lot of berserk critique I’ve seen recently ( not speaking about this video specifically) has had unfair nitpicking like tbh from a person who has read this book for a long time now , there are moments in the recent chapters which are “better” stylistically the muiras work and I wish people could also recognise this because tbh I think having a team that can replicate your work and in various ways can be better then you is the ultimate compliment and reflection of a master artist which I believe muira was

This is the best we could have gotten from such an awful scenario for all parties included. That said I think this should be called New Berserk or have an asterisk attached to it, Miura is Berserk and without him it's not the same.
Calling it New Berserk is unnecessary and awkward. It won’t be the same, but it is still Berserk. Just like Sanderson’s WOT books were still The Wheel of Time.

It’s completely unnecessary to rename it. Regardless of how you feel studio Gaga has been with Miura for years and they actually knew him unlike us fans.
They are simply upholding the responsibility of finishing berserk with Kouji Mori out of respect for their master. I certainly believe if Miura didn’t want berserk to finish without him, he wouldn’t have trained his assistants and studio Gaga and Mori wouldn’t have bothered trying to do a continuation.

Puck is a Pixie and an Elf in the world of Berserk. Elves in the Berserk world are basically just humanoid mythical creatures. Evolution also might be a thing in Berserk considering there was fossil layer imagery so I wouldn't be surprised if humans and elves turn out to have a common ancestor. Kind of like apes in our world.
Dude, I know what you're trying to do, but please let's not over-analyze and nit-pick this to death. Let's be happy Berserk is continuing. And if you are one of those that think it should have stopped with Miura, then state that at the beginning so we can watch a different video. I did not even think of any of this while reading these and nobody should at this point.
I've thought that not that much happened in these past 3 chapters too. They could have been 1, but I think they are just trying to get into the swing of things. Plus, Miura did deliver slow chapters occasionally too. The art has been pretty solid, and I noticed an improvement with each chapter they did, so if we give it more time, we'll get work that's even closer to Miura's. The backgrounds were great from their first. It was some of the characters that were a bit off. Griffith's hair is still not elegant and ethereal enough. It's the one thing that is the most off, but Grifith's general not quite humanness is a hard thing to get artistically, I'm sure. We've had so much improvement already, so I'm sure we'll get there eventually.
I didn't pick up on the fact that we didn't see the transition from Shirkie and Farnese holding Caska to Griffith holding Caska. How did he get her from them? I'm sure he could have done so easily, but we needed to see it. Other than that, there aren't really any plot issues aside from the story going really slowly. I think Moonlight Boy turning back into Griffith broke the protections of Elf Island, which is why Zodd was able to get there and is why the ground is breaking. I'm sure apostilles are about to come through there. I hope we see the Queen do battle. I'm sure she has an intimidating fierce side.
This really should just be Monthly. It would give the team more time to make sure everything is in order. I'm starting to worry with these continuity errors and possible plot holes.
I think the Art is great, though sometimes more shading would be nice. But the story is what I'm more worried about.

Weren't people complaining that elfhelm had little to no action? Story wise this is the time for action and now I see people complaining that berserk is turning into typical battle manga. What do people expect? Guts isn't gonna talk to griffith I think it would have been cool to see it but there is no way he wouldn't attack.

I don't think I believe him about knowing the ending. It seems too convenient and Kentaro had never been known to do that. In fact he was well known for keeping any aspect of the story not yet produced, to himself. I just see this as a lie.
They should’ve taken a year off to prepare themselves. This feels “raw”.

I'm willing to cut them some slack considering the circumstances. Is the art as good? No, the art is still amazing though. If Muira was an 11, this art is a 9. I'm excited to see what happens, my only concern is a Janking final story due to not having a complete guide from Muira.
