@cutehunter9659 in my opinion the boat arc was the worst part of the series. Which goes to show how good the rest of the manga is because the boat arc is actually decent
The golden age arc is what made go from "let's read to berserk" to "I NEED TO READ MORE OF THIS" it is an arc that has many disturbing and mentally and maybe even spiritually horrifying panels The art also helps me vividly remember them This arc is such a gem that personally i feel like it is one of the best berserk arcs ever Although that's just my opinion
My ranking: 5. Black Swordsman (sets the tone well & gives a great introduction to world) 4. Fantasia (would be higher if it had finished where Miura intended it to) 3. I agree man what blackswordsman and lost children focus on for Guts’ character are very similar and the goal of the arcs to show Guts dealing with the “immediate” after math of the eclipse it makes sense to put them together. I think most people would agree except that it’s just more simple and easier to put lost children into conviction because they’re right next to each other in the story
For me, Berserk just got better the more I read. Every arc was better than the last. A lot of people say Berserk drop's off after Golden Age, do not listen to those people.
Conviction is my favorite but the Golden Age is probably the best arc in the history of manga. But Fantasia was getting insanely good too. I'd do horrible things just to know how it was all supposed to end...even if those last chapters halfway work as a bittersweet ending with the assumption Guts was going to decide to drop the impossible revenge mission. I actually happen to think that was the direction Miura was taking things.
I don't cry while reading manga, like.. at all, but Berserk.. fuck me man. Seeing Guts happy, even if it's just for a few moments, or even smile at times, makes me misty eyes 😭.

Masked man, can you please make a video about Griffith from berserk, like I don't really understand him. Is he the villain or is he the hero. Should he die or not die. Like there are many complicated things about him and I would be happy to hear ur thoughts about him.
The eclipse is the second best climax in all of anime and manga behind End of Evangelion in my opinion. In one long and gruesome scene, it includes basically every main form of conflict that all the characters in the series need to overcome. It’s just a perfect and brilliant way to end a backstory
1. Golden Age (It's the most human arc you can ever see in anime medium) 2. Conviction (So much great things happen especially rebirth of Griffith, Rosine. Some perfect chapters: Hill of Swords, Cracks in the Blade. ) 3. Fantasia,Falcon of Millenium arc. Fantasia: The dreamscape sequence is perfect. The biggest cliffhanger at 364 revealing Moon kid is Griffith. Stunning Art in this arc and Griffith taking Casca away. Falcon of Millenium: The greatest war arc I ever seen. 4. Black swordsman: It is really great in every aspect. It's even though last, it is no means bad. The meeting of God hand and Guts is my favourite and Crying of Guts too.
Berserk is that Manga where its the hardest to pick an arc as a favorite. They all deserve to exist, all at the same time. The quality of the entire Manga gets a huge chunk off of it if you take away even one arc. In my humble opinion.
In my opinion golden age is like the best manga arc ever Of course iv not read that much but I am yet to find anything that comes close to that masterpiece
For me it’s: 1) Falcon of the Millennium Empire 2) Conviction 3) Golden Age 4) Fantasia 5) Black Swordsman Fantasia is near the bottom but when Schierke & Farnese entered Casca’s dreamscape it was some of my favourite chapters, it was amazing. I’ve heard people call the Lost Children arc “filler”!! I want to smack them haha. And Lost Children is part of Conviction arc, it’s listed as part of Conviction, do some people separate it from Conviction?
If I wanted to point to a story that encapsulates Berserk and everything that it can be, I'd point to Lost Children. That said, I don't care too much for Conviction on the whole, so Golden Age wins it. But if we are ranking the individual stories from all the arcs together, Lost Children wins it all.
Just wanted to say. I finally got ONE friend hooked on Berserk and I recommend your channel for the video essays. I felt so happy so I just wanted to comment on this small happy occurence
I feel like if the black swordsman arc weakens the reading experience for some people. HYPOTHETICALLY, if one were to skip the first arc, they would gain more enjoyment from the sudden transition of Griffith, and they would also be more surprised to see the change of Guts as a character. But, given the time period berserk was produced in, I feel like Kentaro almost had no choice but to include the arc as a preview of the development of the manga for the publishers and audiences. So I would say that the black swordsman arc was kentaro’s active spoiling of the story’s potential pot-twist heavy plot. Just think about attack on titan and how it would be if the identities of the titans and Eren’s descend was spoiled for you in the first arc… just a thought.
I know it’s unpopular but my favorite villain well besides Griffith was ganishka I mean the beauty of the the tree the light after darkness just was an awesome arc with so much impact and grace and then coming behind thag is easily fantasia
Spring Flowers Of Distant Days is one of the best arcs. It is filler, but gives us insight into a young Guts and it is very sentimental. The best part is when the older man thinks that Guts might one day find “war buddies” on the rotten ass battlefield while they look at a white hawk in the sky. Great story telling
Great video mask. All around pretty solid rankings of the arcs, I may have a lil complaints here and there but I love hearing other opinions on this series
Although I think that the Golden Age arc is objectively the best one so far, I'm in love with everything after it. I, subjectively, prefer way more the high fantasy Berserk over its dark fantasy side. So my top would be: 1: Millenium Falcon arc 2: Fantasia arc 3: Golden Age arc 4: Conviction arc 5: Black Swordsman arc
Here’s my personal ranking: 5: Black Swordsman 4: Fantasia 3: Conviction 2: Golden Age 1: Millennium Falcon War I love ALL the arcs, even Black Swordsman due to it’s humble beginnings and complexity under the surface. However Millennium Falcon war contains literally everything I love about Berserk and more. It has it’s flaws and is somewhat divisive in the fanbase from it’s perspective swapping from Guts to Griffith, Berserk being “lighter”, to little things like the Berserker Armor kind’ve taking away a fundamental part of Guts character which was his lack of anything magical. I have personal issues with the latter point but non of what I said took away from my overall enjoyment of the arc and to me personally, the arc has some of the highest highs in all of Berserk. Some of the most badass, shocking, tear jerking, and heart racing moments that just made me look back with the most fondness towards this arc if I had to pick one as my favorite. However every single arc is amazing, Berserk is amazing, and Kentaro Miura was a genius who left this world waaay too soon.
After reading berserk my ranking would be 1. Conviction/lost children 2. Golden age 3. Millenium falcon 4. Fantasia 5. Black swordsman Note that the top 3 are very much interchangeable for me depending on how I feel
I had to put off reading Berserk for a couple of weeks after the Golden Age because it almost broke me. It was _that_ good. The sad thing for me is that after I picked it up again, Miura died like 4 days later. Now, I'm reading it slowly because I don't wanna reach 364 yet.
For me: 1) GA and HOTME. Ending of HOTME is fucking beautiful, Best art in the series. GA is GA need I say more. 2)Fantasia. Spring flowers of distant days are my favourite chapters of berserk. 3) Conviction. Idk why but I didn’t enjoy this arc as much as I hoped, still amazing with great moments though. 4) Black swordsman. Great intro but the art style looks really crude and weird at this stage. Sets the tone of series and universe extremely well. GA and conviction are the objectively the best in terms of writing after looking back and analysing them. The difference is that conviction was not nearly as exciting for me as GA
I always kinda combine Fantasia and Falcon of the Millennium since they go together so well and Fantasia isn’t a full arc so I just consider it a continuation of Falcon of the Millennium
If any berserk fans want a really good fantasy recommendation, I would suggest the first law series by Joe Abercrombie. Logen Ninefingers and Glokta are arguably even more compelling than Guts.
I've been reading First Law series this year. Loved the first two books of the first trilogy. Looking forward to the third. While I do love Logen and Glokta (He's my favorite in the series) they aren't Guts. There are still extremely well-written and complex. Abercrombie is a master of character writing and I would encourage Berserk fans to check out The First Law series because I think they'll enjoy just as much if not more than Berserk.
Well, there are opinions of opinions about this or that character, but I have pending The First Law, maybe later this year I will start it, in April I am going to read The Stormlight Archive, and talking about books, I finished Mistborn last week.
I feel like it shows just how amazing Berserk is to genuinely say there’s no “bad” or “unnecessary” arc to any of it. Meanwhile every mainstream anime/manga like Dragonball, Naruto, Bleach, *ESPECIALLY* One Piece, etc all have unnecessary filler arcs that range from decent to trash

2. Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc
3. Fantasia Arc
4. Conviction Arc
5. Black Swordsman Arc
The correct ranking 😍😍 1 and 2 are interchangeable
To me the lost children's chapters feel like a more modern black swordsman arc made after miura really planned everything out
In my opinion golden age is like the best manga arc ever
Of course iv not read that much but I am yet to find anything that comes close to that masterpiece
For me it’s:
1) Falcon of the Millennium Empire
2) Conviction
3) Golden Age
4) Fantasia
5) Black Swordsman
Fantasia is near the bottom but when Schierke & Farnese entered Casca’s dreamscape it was some of my favourite chapters, it was amazing.
I’ve heard people call the Lost Children arc “filler”!! I want to smack them haha. And Lost Children is part of Conviction arc, it’s listed as part of Conviction, do some people separate it from Conviction?
The best take. I honestly don’t get why people put golden age on top
Really hope to see a review of Oyasumi, Punpun from you! Absolutely crushed me.
He already did that I think, I’m pretty sure it’s in his top 5.
If I wanted to point to a story that encapsulates Berserk and everything that it can be, I'd point to Lost Children. That said, I don't care too much for Conviction on the whole, so Golden Age wins it. But if we are ranking the individual stories from all the arcs together, Lost Children wins it all.
My Ranking
1. Millennium Falcon
2. Conviction
3. Golden Age
4. Fantasia
5. Black Swordsman
Just wanted to say. I finally got ONE friend hooked on Berserk and I recommend your channel for the video essays. I felt so happy so I just wanted to comment on this small happy occurence
My ranking is:
Falcon of the Millenium Empire
Fantasia
Conviction
Golden Age
Black Swordsman
I just finished berserk and i- don’t know how to feel that the goat died
My list:
1) Golden Age (10+/10)
2) Conviction (9/10)
3) Falcon of the Millennium Empire (8,5/10)
4) Fantasia (8/10)
5) Black Swordman (6,5/10)
golden age is the type of complete story arc I will never get bored no matter how many times I read it
Day #269 asking the masked man to watch/read black lagoon
*JUDEAU*
the friend everyone needs, but no one gets.....
There are no bad arcs in Berserk.
I know it’s unpopular but my favorite villain well besides Griffith was ganishka I mean the beauty of the the tree the light after darkness just was an awesome arc with so much impact and grace and then coming behind thag is easily fantasia
Yb ranking? + first
Spring Flowers Of Distant Days is one of the best arcs. It is filler, but gives us insight into a young Guts and it is very sentimental. The best part is when the older man thinks that Guts might one day find “war buddies” on the rotten ass battlefield while they look at a white hawk in the sky. Great story telling
THANKS SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS I HAD BEEN WONDERING YOUR THOUGHTS FOR LONG LONG AAAAAHHHH
My rankings (And I'm being serious)
1. Black Swordsman
2. Falcon of the Millennium Falcon
3. Conviction
4. Fantasia
4. Golden Age
They hated him because he told them the truth
Great video mask. All around pretty solid rankings of the arcs, I may have a lil complaints here and there but I love hearing other opinions on this series
respond with a period if u r being held at gunpoint for that sponsor
Perfect. I 100% agree with this list. Golden Age will probably remain the greatest manga arc ever made in my opinion.
Although I think that the Golden Age arc is objectively the best one so far, I'm in love with everything after it. I, subjectively, prefer way more the high fantasy Berserk over its dark fantasy side.
So my top would be:
1: Millenium Falcon arc
2: Fantasia arc
3: Golden Age arc
4: Conviction arc
5: Black Swordsman arc
Based
not objective dawg, for me and coviction just better
the best arc is lost children that fight againt rosine was the best fight in berserk .
Here’s my ranking
1. Golden age
2.Millennium falcon
3.conviction
4. Fantasia
5. Black swordsman
My man also got sponsored by raid shadow legend’s…… masked man is rich now
Hell Yeah RAID: Berserk Legends let's go and man this must've been tough all the arcs are awesome as all get out
Here’s my personal ranking:
5: Black Swordsman
4: Fantasia
3: Conviction
2: Golden Age
1: Millennium Falcon War
I love ALL the arcs, even Black Swordsman due to it’s humble beginnings and complexity under the surface.
Please read Berserk.
This is day 69 of asking.
Godo hurt Guts more in Conviction Arc then anyone else
Lost children arc/ conviction is the GOAT arc for me.
It’s hard to rank these arcs because each one perfectly progresses and builds upon each other which makes the story better and better as you go
After reading berserk my ranking would be
1. Conviction/lost children
2. Golden age
3. Millenium falcon
4. Fantasia
5. Black swordsman
Note that the top 3 are very much interchangeable for me depending on how I feel
I had to put off reading Berserk for a couple of weeks after the Golden Age because it almost broke me. It was _that_ good. The sad thing for me is that after I picked it up again, Miura died like 4 days later. Now, I'm reading it slowly because I don't wanna reach 364 yet.
For me:
1) GA and HOTME.
Just started reading and Guts childhood is so relatable 😈
Conviction arc was the darkest so far
Can you talk about Hunter Hunter? I feel you don’t talk about it enough.
1. Golden Age (10/10)
2. Conviction (10/10)
3. Falcon of the Millennium (9.5/10)
4. Black Swordsman (9/10)
5. Fantasia (9/10)
Can this get a proper anime adaptation that isn’t just the Golden Age arc for once?
Ngl all the berserk arcs are great in their own way
what happened to your discord
You're gonna have fun with this, I can tell from the wooo! in the beginning
I started berserk by your recommendation with the 1997 anime and ive never tried to read a manga before. after i finished the anime, i HAD to go read the manga and i read it all. I now consider it the greatest creation ive seen, so thank you for getting me into it.
watch gintama and read kingdom gto monster. better than berserk
