That 53 wheat cent isn’t a “woody”, it’s actually, “rolling lines” that you are seeing. The main difference between the woody cent and the rolling lines on the coin is that the lines wear off the tops of the devices in circulation. On the woody coins the poor copper mix affects the whole planchet, just the tops of the surface line the rolling lines examples display. Rolling lines are what you see on more modern cents, where as woody cents are usually found on cents older than the 1930s.
I may jump in to What Not….Not as a buyer but a Seller. Still amazed at the Cuds there are…The “Woodie” Lincoln Cents are kinda Cool. I have yet to go through my $14 of Wheaties as well as several Years of my Women’s three mint quarters and Kennedy Halves.
Wow. Hey BlueRidge I’m Back. Got a New Phone. Thanks for your Service Shaun. I have 2 of the 2020 $5 mis cut Star notes. What’s the going price ? Any Idea ? I missed your vlog very much.
plating errors can be valueable, depending on the condition & overall eye appeal of the coin. getting it graded is the best way to get the most for it. ANACS doesn’t require a membership, the others do.
