I knew the pvc is lightweight so the magnets can keep the glass up in place but if your primary concern is noise you need the secondary glazing to be heavy as mass stops noise. Laminated glass is ideal.

No one will be laughing at this when in January when heating bills hit £4000+ a year. And besides no one will want to open their windows. I've done an even cheaper form of secondary glazing using a roll of plastic used to put in front of notice boards. It works well in the winter keeping the heat in. It's been on my window now for about 3 years but has discoloured considerably. But is there isn't any view through that window it doesn't matter. Surprising how it keeps the draft out and the heat in quite well.

Aarrrghhh could you PLEASE turn off the music when you’re speaking, it’s very distracting, and, makes it harder to hear you and to focus on what you’re doing.

Hello. Was wondering if you'd do a short demo showing how this type of secondary glazing cuts outside noise. I'm trying to find a cheap way to cut noise from leaf commercial lawn crews with blowers, a hospital with helipad, a nearby stadium, and rail yard, all of which are just out of control here. All I need a simple shot with the glazing in place, and then with it off, while a friend stands outside with a leaf blower, or something loud going on.
Great video, and thanks for posting this. :)

Hi I tried doing double glazing like you did but it unfortunately did not work out. The a and b magnets were not strong enough and the magnets were pulling away from the frame and Perspex. I even used glue and silicon on the frame and Perspex. The glue/silicon stuck to the frame but not to the Perspex. I ended up using double sided 1mm foam tape and stuck the perspex to the window frame and screwing them in. I was so upset doing this. What magnets did you use? Maybe here in Australia we do not have magnets like yours? I looked everywhere. The Perspex is 6mm thick

I live in Australia also, and have been worried about not being able to get strong enough magnetic strip also. Doesn't sound like Bunnings magnetic strips would be strong enough. Will enquire at AMF Magnets tomorrow?

      6mm is so heavy !

he say 2mm thick , 6 mm thick of course to heavy

2mm thick won;t work for soundproof . Not point to double glazing.

@@kingsford2032 no one mention that it's for soundproofing .. i use it for heat insulation and the most important factor in insulation is the gap between the two glazing layers

This is great, i am so going to do this, thanks. Still find the 2mm sheets sufficient though?

idk saving money due to insulation and better noise proofing makes it worth it.
