    I've been finding that a lot of my lighter colors (Caribbean, neon lemon zest, neon key lime, neon royal purple) hardly show up, if at all, even with a lot of dye put down. I was told heat would help but I haven't seen improved results with that either. I guess I just need some more dye powder in my mix! It's just weird because other dyes don't need nearly that much to look saturated.

    • @discdyeingdotcom
      @discdyeingdotcom  3 роки тому

      Yes they will vary. However Caribbean, and royal purple do not work very well regardless. I get best results in floetrol bed with heat with those. But the lemon and lime should work, yeah try adding some more dyento your mix.

    Do you mix your dye with hot water first like the instructions say? I don’t and have been getting very poor saturation on lighter colors and neon colors. I have heard the hot water is important to activate the dye before mixing with acetone - don’t know if this is true. Thanks!

    • @discdyeingdotcom
      @discdyeingdotcom  2 роки тому +1

      I have but I didn't see much difference to be honest. The lighter and neon colors can be tricky. You need plenty of dye and some of then really need heat

    • @shanesplanetshane3795
      @shanesplanetshane3795 2 роки тому

      prochem responded to me directly. The reason you use hot water is the additives they use for anti-static and anti-caking, ARE NOT solvent soluble. The dye itself doesnt care, but the additives don't break down in acetone across all colors. Hence the directions to use a tiny bit of water, mix, then add to acetone. Sometimes manufacturer instruction have a valid reason for them. Its science/chemistry... Heat mat at 90-100f and 6 hours does well for my premium plastics. Same with floetrol, tho you cant reuse the floetrol very well after about 24hrs on heat and 4 discs in same bed. Dont cover the discs, or condensation drops back into the trays and can cloud the edges.

  • @benduimstra7437
    @benduimstra7437 2 роки тому +2

    Any chance you could disclose how you achieve the saturation you want in your dyes? Got my dyeing stuff today and after mixing up some acetone with plenty of Dye, my colors were much fainter than yours. Should I wait a few days to let it saturate more, add some heat to them, or get rid of them and try to add a small amount of hot water first before the acetone? Love the content and keep it up!

    • @discdyeingdotcom
      @discdyeingdotcom  2 роки тому
