- In response to the criticism that our previous Killer Whale Show Gone Wrong video shows nothing going wrong here is the video broken down for you to see exactly what went wrong.
One Ocean killer whale show from 29th March 2018 which went slightly wrong during the 'Side by Side' section of the show when the whales starting fighting instead of performing as planned.
Playbacks and closeups included as well as subtitles throughout the trainers explanation of the Orca aggression.

As explained by the staff, the fight was a rise against the dominant whale, however, she fought back and fundamentally laid a bite on the tail on the other whale before the staff managed to intervene.
This small show of aggression from the whales just goes to show how powerful these amazing animals are!
2018 was the last time we will attend an Orca/killer whale show. It was extremely uncomfortable to watch. It is good news that Seaworld will no longer breed the orcas. We hope there will be a stop to the performances soon with the Orcas moved to a more appropriate sanctuary as done with Beluga whales.
It is abuse they swim in a pool whales are so big and they get stressed and that is why they attack humans whales has never known to attack humans anything for money

Sickening. To enslave these beautiful, powerful creatures in a concrete pool is just appalling, they swim between 50-100 miles a day in the wild, this must feel like a broom closet to them. It's a wonder more of these whales don't reach their breaking point and go berserk
They swim between 50-100 miles bc they have to in order to find ann ever depleting food supply. Wild Orcas will stay in a small shallow area if there is an available and plentiful food source.
My heart breaks that these beautiful majestic creatures are still kept in captivity 💔

Please pardon me for this but what most do not realize, with the exception of Corky (San Diego), Tilikum (passed in Orlando) and I believe 1 or 2 more these “pods” are Sea World made. Different genes mixed. Tili is the Father of 80% of that population. None of these would survive in the wild because they are born and raised in captivity. Only Corky may have had a chance but they won’t try. We all know what happened to Keiko. He was to used to humans and would never fully leave where they were! Sea World is horrible for the transferring of babies between their facilities but they have raised bred and born whales that will never survive due to being born and raised in human care. This has to be taken into consideration.
I’m so glad that here in Canada we stopped Orca shows and all sea animal shows…. This is abuse…. Inmates complain abt being in small prison cells… well these poor Orcas are experiencing the same but even smaller cells….
Please my fellow American neighbours… please close these shows and all sea life shows…. How would you like to be put on display, have to perform to get fed… and be expected to be sweet and kind…
We have the blessing to see our Orcas naturally in the wild… it’s beautiful… you take our BC ferry on the mainland in Delta and once the female leader literally stopped the ferry because she was protecting the babies, who like all children, didn’t want to go with the adults. They wanted to stay and play…. This matriarch literally shut down the ferry so the Nannie’s could round up the babies and get on their way. It didn’t take long and the matriarch moved away from the side of the ferry and they were on their way.
That is a much better way to view these beautiful creatures than in a tiny cell performing for their meal…. So very very sad
Do your research,they have still orca. One in Ontario doesn't "preform" swims dead like no one else around. Who knows in winter what they do to her 😭😭

What would be cool would be to build a natural bond with them having a stadium on the ocean where you can see them when they come around

@@tj1923 they just need to stop capturing them and they need to put the remaining captive orcas in rehabilitation centers/sanctuaries. They were bred in captivity, and would otherwise die in the wild.

I love how these guys call themselves “trainers”! Shameful!😡
So I'm definitely in agreement these animals are too big, too social, and too complexly intelligent to be in captivity.
However, ALL animal trainers and animal handlers understand that this is a risk when working with animals, especially when you have multiple animals in a group with a complex social order in play. Animals have minds of their own. A carriage horse may occasionally bolt in fear. A dog may occasionally spar with another dog. And a matriarch orca may disrupt a procedure if she doesn't want to continue.
The explanation makes sense. The matriarch didn't want to finish the show, so she disrupted the other whales. It's what they would do in the wild if they were frustrated with their social group. They absolutely have scuffles in the wild.
The important thing in the moment when these things happen is getting them separated, letting them destress, and making sure a vet confirms their health. Because the reality is, these animals can't be safely released. They also can't be bred anymore, thankfully, so no more generations of captive orca in the future. But the ones in captivity now still need to be handled realistically, not idealistically.
The San Diego zoo has an elephant show that does it really well. Every activity is voluntary. If the elephants don't want to do the show, there is no show. Easy peasy. I think the Sea World shows should be like that, if they continue to have them.
I hate Seaworld why did they ever take these whales and dolphins away from their families in the first place? How would we like it if itnhappen to us

Went to a show yesterday and learned that alot of the time the whales can’t survive in the wild after getting used to being in captivity.
So leaving them in the wild to die isn’t an option.

It's the basis of human civilization. (There'd be no civilization without animal husbandry.)
We keep animals for human consumption, scientific research; testing of drugs and chemicals for human use; ...we keep them for our PLEASURE (such as here, but also as with our pet cats and dogs, etc.).
The real reason why we cannot return long-captive orcas and dolphins to the sea is NOT that we can't train them to hunt and feed themselves once again (after all, Keiko, the 'Free Willy' whale successfully fed himself in his 1,000 mile journey from Iceland to Norway), but rather because THEY ARE HUMAN-SOCIALIZED.
Just like with dogs (or wolves you capture in adolescence) which you feed and socialize for many years; if you were just to "free them", they would just come around humans again and seek out human companionship -- even accept the leash and the enclosed backyard.
Some can survive in the wild after captivity and shoreline pen is much more humane then that bathtub they hold them in. They make billions for decades and killed so many we don't have real access, so yes they can be relieved from this isolation cell.

Given them ice cubes, water and a very strict fish diet, and they wonder why they be killing people. Imagine working, on a empty stomach daily
They feed them a ton and I mean a lot trainers are constantly feeding them before, during, and after shows.

If I'm not mistaken, they both scratched Trua with their teeth regularly and tried to hurt him any chance they were around him.
These people can’t profess to be animal lovers when they promote this treatment of said animals. I love all animals but know that they have their place in this world. In the wild!!

These animals deserve to be free, swimming in a confined space of course will eventually cause an issue.
I think it’s one thing to keep wildlife in confinement until they can be released or kept humanely if they’ve unable to be released.
On one hand, I think it helps people to see the animals up close because most people never even see the ocean. On the other hand keeping healthy, intelligent marine animals in captivity just to do stupid human tricks is wrong.
These poor poor creatures. I hate zoos, circuses and seaworlds. They should all be closed.

90% of the population have some form of caged animal at home.
No different to zoo's, petting farms and aquariums.
Unfortunately it's just nature how we are as humans.
But it would be lovely to hear or know that these animals bless there hearts did return to there environment earlier rather than later in there lives.x.
These beautiful mammals are not meant to be kept as entertainment like circus animals and that’s another thing. You see these poor old tigers, and bears and things that I just been there retired and old then you know the tool to perform and then they just let them sit in some cage somewhere and in the United States or wherever I don’t think That they should do that. I think they should be just a sanctuary where they can peacefully live out their lives and since they’ve been captive this to killer whales, they should be able to live peacefully. Would the general public care at all about marine mammals if places like Sea World didn't exist? Would we care about Lions, tigers and Elephants if the Circus had never existed? I'm not saying things like Sea World and Circuses are "good". But people are so myopic. And look what we did to whale populations just over a hundred years ago. If we didn't get to know about these animals as anything other than a resource for our needs would people even care about THEIR needs? It's an imperfect situation for sure. But would the general public as a whole care about the whales if they had never seen them in places like this?
We have books and documentaries . . So yeah. There are ways to learn about, and grow an appreciation for, these fellow earthlings that doesn't involve the cruel capture, enslavement, captive (in)breeding, and exploitation of innocent creatures, for which is done for MONEY not goodwill. Actual criminals, even the most violent and foul, are treated with more regard, and have more rights.And guess what? The general public to which you refer, STILL don't give a shit about these, or any other, majestic mammals in captivity or in the wild, and the least caring of all are those pedestrian rubes in the audience.

I used to believe that as well. However, the first killer whales in their parks were hunted down and sold to them as well as other aquariums such as Miami Seaquirium. They then breeded the whales in captivity and there are only a few that were cought in the wild at their parks.
Sea world parks are an important backup of genetic diversity in case pollution, disease or whaling ever threatens wild populations. They are also highly educational places that make people care about their wild counterparts.
Our family loves SeaWorld ❤ because it provides a beautiful environment where we, as humans, can admire the beauty of whales and dolphins, marine animals who are given the chance to be exposed to human nature. As well as in the zoos, we are exposed to all varieties of animals, there at SeaWorld, we are given the opportunity to interact with marine animals who have demonstrated that can build lasting relationships with humans and for sure, you can tell they love to show how playful they are and we learn from them. ❤
You are a thoughtless person if you think those poor animals enjoy any moment in captivity. It's people like you that keeps this cruel industry going. Shame on you!
