What they DONT mention is that Orca's develop behavioral problems while In captivity and can become aggressive to other animals and humans. They can also become depressed or bored and will swim around sluggishly while refusing to do their routine during a show, resulting in it becoming canceled. If this was a normal Orca family then they would rarely fight due to their social structure and social bonds, but it rarely is a normal family at Sea World. Many are complete strangers to each other despite being related while also being forced into close proximity with one another, which is why you are ACTUALLY seeing what you are seeing.
INTERESTS SNOOPY No, scientists that have years of research invested in marine biology made these observations, as they have done with most other apex marine predators. Peer reviewed articles are a google search away, ídiot.
They also can decide not to take a next breath. For some of the whale groups breathing is voluntary which means that it is under their control and to keep breathing they need to decide to take a breath. It is essentially a suicide when a whale in these tanks decides not to take a next breath. It has been recorded as the cause of death in many occasions.
Still I'm glad they aren't alone. But getting these whales out now will be harmful. They are not used to the wildlife and would not be able to fend for themselves. Especially Kayla
@@shadowhound5113 You're cleary not as intelligent as an orca. Billions of creatures across this planet naturally hunt and avoid predators to survive. The main cause of stress to them is humans.
@@shadowhound5113 orca’s have no predators, they’re apex predators. Domestication isn’t possible for just any animal species for good reasons. These incredibly intelligent animals do not belong in a tea cup of a tank. This is straight up animal abuse and it’s shameful that it’s still continuing.
"...kept in the wild." Well, we do NOT KEEP wild animals on this planet. They are trying to co-exist with us on it. We are just being very bad neighbours. But essentially you are also correct. They should be KEPT in the wild in a sense that nobody should have rights to remove them off from there. Anyway, I agree 😊 The right place for Orcas is to roam wild in the planets vast oceans!!! 🐋🌊
These orcas in particular can never be released in the wild. They've never lived a day in the wild, wouldn't make it out there now. These orcas are generation of the unfortunate ones that were first taken when Sea World wanted to open.
Malia is the daughter of Tilikum (Icelandic) and Taima (half Transient, half Icelandic), and the granddaughter of Kanduke (Transient) and Gudrun (Icelandic). Trua is the son of Taku and Takara, and the grandson of Tilikum, Katina and Kasatka. Malia is Trua's aunt. Kayla is the daughter of Orky (Northern Resident) and Kenau (Icelandic). She was Dawn Brancheau's favorite orca. Kayla has a half-sister named Orkid. Orkid lives at Seaworld San Diego and is considered the smartest orca in captivity. They should all be sent to a seaside sanctuary.
It’s so sad to see such beautiful, intelligent, and majestic animals being kept in 50 feet deep pool and approximately 100-200 feet wide. When in the the wild they, can dive up to 1000 feet and swim miles upon miles(40-70miles) it’s very depressing I definitely think sea world should be shut down, or just not have orca shows as an attraction. There are places that you can go, and experts will take you to see orcas in the wild much happier then here. stop this! Edit: thx for the likes kind people
These are sea world a last orcas. Also if sea world gets shut down do you know what would happen?we'd go back to shooting marine wild life in trouble on site again cuase sea world is the largest marine rescue organaztion.also these orcas would be killed cuase they can't be released.
sea world Australia (unrelated to this one) does just this, with whale watching tours leaving from the wharf right outside their gates & travelling out into the ocean to watch & teach people about the while whales as they pass by on their migration :)
How can any person think that it’s ok to keep such magnificent creatures in captivity? It’s a disgrace. Those that do so need to be on the receiving end.
Unfortunately many people don't think at all. They grew up with the idea orcas and dolphins live happily ever after there and are delighted to entertain so many people with bratty kids every day. In their mind it doesn't occur animals have a consiousness as well and just like humans orcas don't want to be exploited and live in captivity for the rest of their life.
I don't like how at first a long time ago they would capture orcas from the wild and bring them here for entertainment. Tilikum, a male orca who was in seaworld orlando from the late 90's or early 2000's to 2018 was taken from the wild when he was just 2 years old and in his time at sea world, he attacked and killed 3 trainers (r.i.p dawn). but now most orcas are born at seaworld so they dont think anything of it. i am fine with that. but capturing orcas? no.
Right? I'm honestly surprised that people are still into these kinds of shows. I saw another video on another channel where the comments were full of people expressing their enjoyment for such shows. I know they maybe don't know better. But it's worrying.
What you witness in the video-and countless others on UA-cam-is that killer whales behave largely _voluntarily._ If the killer whales decide to do something other than what their trainer asks, they do it. Shows are often interrupted (though not usually in such a dramatic fashion). Conflict happens in all social animals; intraspecific aggression is healthy and expected. We see it all the time in every killer whale population. Their societies are not democratic; the matriarchs keep everyone in line. In the wild, they have to do that or they won’t survive. At SeaWorld, they are free from the imperative of hunting for survival. All their food is provided _whether they respond positively to the trainers or not._ They are still social in captivity, though, and that structure allows them to learn behaviors from themselves and humans.
The other important point is that killer whales at SeaWorld are given a variety of stimulation and enrichment; they learn new behaviors often; these behaviors are often physically and cognitively challenging; they have unstructured time to rest, play and interact with each other and the trainers. Boredom itself is hardly harmful, and they undoubtedly experience that, too, in the wild, but great care is taken to give these animals a rich and healthy life. They are remarkably well-cared for; _Blackfish_ has lied to you.
These people are the reason we know about them so much and fools like you give a chance of commenting. If it was to people like you, humans would still be cave dwellers. Western society has gone into a nose dive literally.
@Blackfish Debunked SeaWorld themselves have only ever cited five attacks in the wild, six if you include Robin Morton, who was not attacked, but rather drowned when his SCUBA tank failed while orcas were nearby.
I think Seaworld started out by rescuing animals and they still do. I think they should ONLY rescue and release hurt animals and stop having captive orcas and other wild animals
For everyone commenting about the animal abuse/ orca abuse/ dolphin abuse in this video & asking why they went. Read the description. It says that 2018 was the last time they’d go to see a sea world show & that they’re glad sea world has stopped breeding orcas and hope that the captivity will stop soon.
It’s not like going there in 2018 was any better than going now. I spent a month in San Diego in 2017. Being a zoo fanatic, I visited both the zoo and the safari park. But I chose not to give my money to this amusement park that likes to brand itself as research facility. Hoping and being glad is nice....but the entrance fee they paid still contributes to these animals being kept in inadequate conditions. Blackfish came out in 2013, Seaworld has been controversial for quite a few years now.
Unfortunately a billion dollar corrupt corporation like sea world, WILL find other ways to make shows, whether they have to use dolphins now, or something else, or heck even "wait it out" like most corporations say they'll do, until people forget and then continue the practice as usual, because so long as they get money from something, they'll adapt to find ways to still make money off of the gross practice somehow.
I went to SeaWorld last night.( 03/04/23 ) This same exact thing just happened. Only the whales become much more aggressive then this. It looked as if they were trying to break or kill whatever they could. They canceled the show and asked everyone to leave pretty much immediately.
Actuslly these whales get play time with multiple enrichment and toys that can make them a bit more active in the day if they aren’t going to show, they get ice, jello, puzzle toys being put together for them to enjoy which most of thr time they do, the shows are basically their workout so they stay active and in shape, they get 200+ pounds of fish a day depending on age so you cant let them get unhealthy. The pools they are in aren’t actually really small, orcas dont swim too far unless starving or scaring away something which they dont have to deal with in captivity. Seaworld really does care about their killer whales and they learn more about them every day.
When I was a kid, we went to Sea World 3-5 times a year. I wanted to be a trainer and work with Shamu SO badly. Now that Im an adult I realize how absolutely TERRIBLE these places are. It's disgusting that these shows are still going on and even worse that people go and see them. Entertainment and money is more important than the health and happiness of the animals me too!!!
Most orcas in captivity are related to tilikum because hes one of the only males that lasted long enough to be bred. That's why there are so many miscarriages among captive orcas, a lot of inbreeding is happening.
Every single person there, both spectator and trainer should be disgusted and ashamed. For every single death to a trainer, aggressive act, or outcry from the orcas, is another tragedy that could have been prevented if we had let them live with their family, free, where they belong. I saw the documentary Blackfish and one of the top comments was "If they hadn't taken Tilikum from his family, then he wouldn't have taken Dawn away from hers." That comment alone shook me to my core and tears burst out. I will always think back on that comment every single time I see the injustices humans do towards animals all for the sake of money.
ThePopushi Sad truth, rich people enslaved humans to make more money in the 1600´s. Now when that´s not allowed (publicly anyways) they enslave animals instead
I know it is so wrong but think of if they didn’t have the whales and other sea life they would be free out in the ocean but the people would loose their jobs. But I would rather have animals free because they don’t understand what is going on.
ThePopushi The Killer Whales we’re born and bred in captivity, so setting them in the wild is basically no better than starving them. The Orcas are also fighting over dominance of the group (forgot the professional name), so they’re not expressing discomfort in any way, shape or form. It’s a natural thing, even in the wild, Orcas fight over dominance of the group and who wins will be the leader. Same thing here, they’re not fighting to express discomfort.
@@xBloodxFangx you are correct. It’s funny how all the sheeple will jump on the ignorance bandwagon and ignore the facts. STAY ignorant but don’t try to take everyone else with you!! @kota lee
The dorsal fin only curls like that when the orca is not receiving enough necessary nutrients and when they are incredibly unhappy, and yet most captive orcas have a flopped dorsal fin, makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes
These animals deserve to be free. Even the trainer called this a “pool”. Whales are such beautiful and complex animals, keeping them in a tank for human entertainment is just disturbing.
They deserve to, but the damage is done. They all have life long mental health injuries. Once an Orcas Dorsal fin goes soft, it never goes back, even when being released to the wild. Mental trauma for life right there.
Unfortunately, not all animals "can" return to the wild safely. Those who work in marine biology know that a dolphin born in captivity with a parent who won't make it well out in the wild is best off staying with the parents rather than separated--it won't be taught the skills it needs to survive (obviously for something like a sea turtle, bit of a different story). An animal may not be able to hunt well enough to prevent starvation, an animal may not get along well in a large group/pack, an animal may not perform well in its natural environment--there's numerous reasons. Almost all animals in captivity are not just there because people want to see them through glass, they are there because that "is" their chance to survive. Now--I'm not too well read-up on the situation with SeaWorld, all I really have heard about it is the controversy of the documentary "Blackfin" and I haven't even seen that. I'm not saying that I don't think the tanks should be a bit bigger or that they shouldn't be trained to do stunts or any of that, because as I said, I'd like to know more before taking a stance. I'd like to see these animals flourishing in the wild just as much as anyone and I mean it, but I also wouldn't want to see them hurting or in severe cases dying because they were put in an environment that they won't be able to adequately adapt to. Just, whoever reads this, don't go around shaming every person who works with animals--because most all of them are trying to help and give creatures the best life they can, and sometimes they do have to make the hard choices...
You’re an idiot, i could explain how, but you’d either A. Not read it or B. Not understand it So I’ll save my time and effort, and hope that you do your research
the “trainers” are forced to lie about these gorgeous animals. they are charging at eachother because they are stressed out being trapped in such a small tank. to us, the tank is not small obviously but to the whales, it’s small. this causes the whales to get sad, depressed, and they could end up dying. let’s end this. and let our beautiful ocean life live free, in open water. ❤️
@@breemstone5612 I wouldn't be surprised if she's right. The trainers at sea world have been forced to lie before, among other things. Tbh I feel bad for the trainers as well, considering most of them do genuinely care for the animals they work with.
@@breemstone5612 u don't need to be an expert to have accurate opinions / facts, watch a documentary called "Black Fish" then u could see a little bit of what's happening
I agree that we should let nature take its course however if animals need rescuing I agree with capturing them, rehabilitating them and then possible setting them free if they are ready.
I haven't been to sea world since I was a kid. Even back then I thought that tank was too small for the whales. Now that I'm older I can see it's just plain cruel.
When I was a kid, we went to Sea World 3-5 times a year. I wanted to be a trainer and work with Shamu SO badly. Now that Im an adult I realize how absolutely TERRIBLE these places are. It's disgusting that these shows are still going on and even worse that people go and see them. Entertainment and money is more important than the health and happiness of the animals.
Same here I went every other year with my fam to see Shamu but never realized that these whales were probably kidnapped from their families n probably tired of the same circles n tricks all day long
As kids in the 90s we were taught to think- “hippies just wanna close these places down because they use animals to make money” As grown ups we realize that people want to shit them down because they’re cruel and just pure evil. Like torture that never ends to these animals.
The behavior you see in the video takes place in both captive and wild populations. It’s expected, in fact. The trainers know that and they give the animals the time and space they need in order to deal with their intraspecific conflict. You’re projecting a human concept of freedom that they almost certainly do not understand or experience.
Those poor orcas are not happy there. They want to be free in the ocean with their family not be trapped inside a small tank and do tricks just to get treats.... This is why I don't like Sea World anymore because of Black Fish it's so sad. They look a lot more happier in the wild and healthy.
Every person at this show is helping fund their captivity even after all the info and documentaries we have today it's sad that some people just don't care and continue supporting this place...
When I saw the words "goes wrong" I really was expecting something super bad. I mean I'm glad everyone is okay but I thought it would have been like action movie goes wrong
I know right. I'm so disappointed. And this comment section is all kinds of boo-friggin-hoo. "Oh, the whales are in captivity" "It's so cruel" "I can't belie..." Shut up.
Can’t believe people actually pay to see these Orcas trapped in a cage being forced to preform. I admit I went to a SeaWorld show before when I was younger and I didn’t know. Most of the people are full grown adults without children, like they should know Orcas are supposed to be in the wild? If I were trapped in like a literal pool for even more than like a day I’d go insane, imagine how these whales feel. THEY SHOULD BE IN THE WILD. If you want to help orcas with wounds then go for it, but after that don’t capture them, set them free again and don’t USE THEM FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND FOR *MONEY.*
Same, I went when I was a kid and I loved it, but little did I know what was going on behind the scenes. There is no humanity done with these shows. Not even the way they procure these orcas is done humanely.
Everytime I see man vs. animal, I always root for animal!! It sickens me that humans think they can just snatch these animals out of the wild for their own entertainment and money making schemes.
I know Tillicum was kept in a tiny tub after the incident at Sea World. He was more or less being punished. He should have been released for the remainder of his life. This is a disgusting, inhumane act!
I got kisses from Shamu as a kid and have loved orca since. But knowing how intelligent orca are, emotionally and socially, watching this SeaWorld show hits different. 😢 I feel like we're enslaving another sensitive, complex, empathetic species for our own entertainment.
Although there is a variety of theories about the curve on the Orca's fin, I found one which explains that Orca's bended fins are, in fact, a sign of depression and stress
Actually the collapsed fin is caused most commonly by a change in the structure of the fins collagen. This can happen due to stress and lowered blood pressure. The most common cause happens when there is inadequate pressure on the fin (swimming great distances) and since they live in a bathtub they dont get that pressure from swimming in circles. I hope this helps :) btw I am by no means a professional I have just done some research on the subject so it isnt the most reliable info.
he makes it look like everything is okay, when in fact nothing is okay with this; in nature the whale killers will not behave like this against each other, and if they do, they have the entire ocean to run from the danger, but because they are and they have been stuck there for their entire lives they cannot escape from the everyday injuries that the other killerwhales may cause them. So not only they are not free and with their family but also living a nightmare in a daily life basis - just for the entertainment of humans. Disgusting.
I bet it's so loud for them. The ocean, where they're meant to be, is so quiet. Yet they have them here, with insanely loud sounds all around them. It's terribly sad 😔
We have those, they are called prisons. For those of you who think only bad people go to jail and/or prison, well you’re wrong. Most people simply can’t afford a good attorney and, therefore, can’t afford bail. Most people in jail haven’t even been convicted of a crime, yet they are forced to wait for months or even years in jail until their trial date, which is guaranteed to be one sided since they cannot afford decent representation. The prosecutor will then lie and tell the prison he/she could face life in prison and hopefully out of fear, he/she will accept a plea making it an easy win for the prosecutor. Now, the prosecutor may not even have evidence to prove the case, but the defendant (person being accused) doesn’t know his/her rights and likely can’t afford representation to help him/her out of it. Thus, millions of innocent lives are ruined. They are forced to live in cages when they have done nothing wrong in the first place. Take criminal justice classes in college kids, it WILL save your life one day, especially if you live in America. Please, do it for yourself.
To be honest, I think it's much more entertaining to watch whales/dolphins etc in their natural habitat. I understand that it's good for some species to be in animal sanctuaries because they are endangered, but training them to do tricks for human entertainment is just stupid. Some might argue that the animals enjoy doing it, but repeating the same thing over and over each day for training and performances would get boring rather quickly. It's unnatural for whales to be in tanks their entire life. They're confined to such a small space, where as the wild whales often swim up to 100 miles a day. Does anyone see the issue here? They can't migrate to their feeding grounds, and because they're being kept in captivity for so long they won't be able to be let back in to the wild since they won't know the basic things that should be natural to them. A lot of the time people never even stop to think about how they even got the animals into aquariums and sea parks. Some Whales are bred in captivity, and the calves are taken to the aquariums. Others are caught in the wild and taken in. There is clearly no doubt that wild-caught animals suffer from at least a bit of trauma. They're being taken from their natural habitat and forced into doing tricks for the entertainment of humans. Why do people go to these stupid sea parks? A lot of the time the dolphins are caught as by-catch, and are taken into captivity to be trained and sold to sea parks. A trained dolphin can be worth up to $100,000 so it's no wonder why they catch them. Anyway, that's my rant of the day.
For my 16th birthday me and my mom drove up to Seattle to go sea whales and the Tree houses masters headquarters. The tree houses were fun and I didn’t see any orcas. Mainly because the tours where like 90 bucks. So we went around trying to find like some natural places to look for whales. I know I saw a dolphin fluke, and a seal. But no orcas. But I would much rather go there, and have the slight chance of actually seeing the orcas, than go to sea world. And I know this is gonna sound bad, but if they really wanted the whales to be happy. The size of the pool would have to the same size of the entire park, including the parking lot. The whole plot of land. And would have to me like ten times the depth of the pool. Or even 20 times. They can’t just release them. They’ve basically forgotten how to survive in the ocean.
Right?! Also...the reason their dorsal fins flop over in captive Orcas is due to them basically being out of shape & they don't have the muscle for it to stick up like normal. Really sad honestly.
Buzzy Wuzzy sea world is cruel they don’t feed the animals if they don’t participate or they will hit they animal if they don’t participate I don’t wanna go to sea world anymore cuz of what I read
2:12 btw killer whales are not whales they are apart of the dolphin family it shows that most of these trainers don't know that they are doing or now the basics of marine life
If the trainer was honest: "Alrighty hey ho everyone, thanks for comin' out today! So what you're seeing here are the whales attacking eachother viciously, and definitely causing injuries! Basically, they're stuck in this tiny tank with nowhere to go, and given their size and being used to having the whole ocean to live in, it's enough to make them go insane and snap. Imagine yourself being trapped in a small cage forever. Isn't that fun? This unbearable and unnatural environment is so excruciating for them they act out in destructive and abnormal behavior! Exciting! But we'll take good care of them and get plenty of rotten fish to eat until the day they die alone here ripped away from their family and in despair. Alrighty cool am I right?!
Orcas do not attack humans when in the wild, which means they only attack humans when kept in captivity. They only attack SeaWorld trainers and I don’t blame them as they should not be in pools entertaining people, they should be in the ocean. Let the story of Kaiko be a lesson.
Machine à mouille if their fins are flopped over it means that they’re super unhealthy. Orcas are supposed to have strong fins like dolphins. If you imagine what a dolphin would look like with a floppy fin, it’s kind of sad. In the wild, orcas usually have very strong fins, but when they’re kept in captivity like this, they become weak and depressed, and their fins eventually start to flop.
It’s simply a lack of understanding. I think most people who go to these shows go because they love the animals, not because they want to see them sad or hurting. It personally breaks my heart that they are made to perform. If I had my way they would be free but obviously, in a perfect world a lot would be different. Perhaps something good came after this. Idk. All I can do it pray. Stay well, stay safe in these crazy times ❤️
McTaco You’re comparing apples and oranges here. You go to a grocery store to get food to eat, which is a necessity. Going to Sea World is NOT a necessity. Don’t act like supporting a grocery store is the same moral dilemma as supporting Sea World, because it isn’t.
Edit: thank you for those who wrote very informative feedback on zoos and the like! I’d like to add that I do know sea world doesn’t capture wild orcas anymore (hence why I said “how sea world WAS getting killer whales”) I learned they even breed them now. I still find that unsettling. Even if a species killed off their own species, it was probably for natural reasons. Keep in mind natural selection. You learn it in HighSchool biology, loved that class. I don’t like the setting of sea world for personal reasons. Some might go for the rides, some for the animals. I completely understand that people love to see wild animals you wouldn’t be able to see unless in very cold destinations and in the oceans. These animals are not in our backyards. Sea world was shown as not having the proper gallons/miles per orca for their “backstage” after the shows. They were kept in tight confined space with little space to roam. I still don’t see that as justification for them. And I also don’t see how breeding an animal in a place that had been meant for training animals to do shows is even more justified to see sea world as doing “the great good” for these animals either. I would find it more proper and justified if they were in a sanctuary rather then put in a stage for people who buy tickets to see them for a show. It doesn’t sit right with me the slightest, no matter if they were bred there or not. I can understand from the scientific and natural side of how animal nature works, and that humans don’t have a right to breed animals even if they are on the extinct side of the spectrum. It’s natures calling if an animal should die off, or maybe even come back on its own. There’s probably lots of reasons as to why they might even die off in the first place or just go away. Things are documented for reasons, and you can take it how you want to, but facts never change. If people haven’t learned from Blackfish the documentary on how sea world was getting the killer whales...its SAD! I don’t support sea world and I will never go there or take my children there ever. I don’t support zoos unless it’s a sanctuary for hurt wild animals who can’t survive in the wild. It’s unfortunate for them. I didn’t realize how much I despised zoos growing up until HighSchool. This is sad and it’s animal torture for money. We human beings should be ashamed of ourselves for how we treat animals like such.
I agree! I don't completely despise zoos because some are like rescue centers as you mentioned and are helpful for conservation, but sea world and circuses are just awful because of the poor animals being either stuck in a small place and/or mistreated. The fact that people still support those things despite learning about the tortured creatures is disgusting.
Zoos seem to take better care of the animals than sea world but you’re right, animals should be able to live freely too. Though the zoos I’ve supported are those that rescue animals that can’t survive in the wild anymore. Like the Australia zoo is more like a sanctuary and they are always helping the animals recover so they can live in the wild. They also educate people about the different animals and how they are to be treated and live.
I’ve said many times how majestic it is to see Orcas in the wild, and I’ve had a few people say “why bother when you can see them in Sea World.” That comment makes me mad for two reasons. The first reason is that marine mammals do not belong in captivity, it is cruel, and the second reason is that seeing these incredible and intelligent creatures in the wild is a truly unique experience that cannot be topped. I have been blessed to see wild Orcas in Alaska and Antarctica, unique yet equally magnificent.
3 types of people you see in this comment section; The nature lover who demand for this creature to be released The entertainer who make a meme out of this And finally, the psychopath who clicked this video just to see someone getting killed.
Hey man, when the thumbnail is an orca jumbing over a crowd with the tag "gone wrong" you dont exactly expect animal cruelty, you expect an orca to jump into the crowd and drop kick a grandma
@WAR LION OP Yes, Orcas and dolphins get taken from the ocean and seperated from there family and home and are getting put in these tiny tanks instead of the huge ocean and are being forced to learn on command! It sad and this happens all around the world and it needs to stop
Mariam H In the philippines, there are this ocean park that rescues harmed animals. It is located near the shore and they are always sea creatures that gets harmed there due to you know plastics and stuff. So they rescue them and they will be performers in the park until eventually they will let them out again in the wild. Is there wrong about that?
I don't really feel bad for these orcas too much. In the wild they would be in a desperate struggle for survival every day, even as apex predators there's still so many threats such as starvation. Sure I kind of feel bad that they have restricted space but they have all the food, medical assistance, comfortable temperatures and other perks that wild animals could never dream of having. Also keep in mind that they are animals, while they are incredible intelligent they don't have anywhere near the emotional capacity of humans so putting yourself in their shoes wouldn't really work as these creatures wouldn't suffer/understand their situation as much as SOME people think they do.
@UCulcm0j-pbpqMBieh2pHYzw jesus christ. I'd rather him do well and do his job as best and as helpful as he can towards these animals. Then have someone who cant. Just because he works there does not mean he agrees with everything going on. Like zoos, obviously you wish the animals can be released or given what they need. But sometimes that's not possible. Just like this, they likely cant release these whales and finding them an adequate home is extremely fucking hard to do. So how about you sit your ass down, get off your high horse and shut the fuck up. Nothing is black and white. Quit making it like that you stupid broad. You're one of the people that hinder helpful progress towards these animals not help.
This makes me so upset, I remember listening to a story about what happens at sea world to the animals. And my parents wanted to go to sea world with me and my family for the day. I straight up said 'i won't support this tortment' and charged upstairs. They went without me because my sister wanted to go. Going to sea world and paying to see these shows means contributing to their torture. There are some Aquariams that do take care of their animals but sea world isn't one of them.
You missed out on a lot of fun lol. I go all the time, who gives a rip about some stupid animals, there’s thousands more getting eaten alive and dying in the wild and you don’t care about those. Only the ones with a steady diet with no threat of death.
ChrisP Muffin you sound real dumb right now, dude. killer whales in the wild live up to 50 years but only 17-29 years if not less in captivity. yes, animals still die, but seaworld tries to market it as them taking care of them when in reality they’re not only contributing to the extinction of these animals but also putting many humans’ lives in danger. so many deaths & injuries have occurred, they’re not meant to be held in captivity. period.
@@GoldieDoggy the only change they should make is closing their doors for good and retiring their breeding programs. Take care of the remaining cetaceans until they pass away in a more naturally simulated environment.
I feel like these kind of animals shouldn’t be peoples “pet”, they deserve to be in the wild to experience there way of life just like how every human would want to experience the ideal human life.
These poor animals would be swimming hundreds of miles a day in the wild, yet they're forced to live in tanks that are (relatively) the size of a bathtub. smh 😪
I just watched it for the first time thanks to your comment. I went to sea world when I was about 12-13 years old and just thought what a beautiful creature. But man that documentary has sure opened up my mind a lot.
I used to go to sea world all the time when I was younger since my mom had an annual pass. I think it contributed to my interest in pursuing marine biology in college, however it is so sad how these animals are kept. They don’t deserve this at all. I really wish it was possible to fence off Mission Bay (a bay near sea world) and release them but I don’t think it’s possible to.
The trainer dealt pretty well with the situation. Orcas do fight all the time in the wild, the problem here is that they have nowhere to go, so if they didnt sort it out things could've went bad... Spend your ticket money to go see them in the wild, folks. You're gonna see every single jump Sea World shows, and more.
it depends. Some animals not only are fine with being kept in captive, but some would even DIE if left in the wild. Take for example birds of prey. Here in Italy, it is illegal to take wild birds of prey like eagles to use them in falconry, meaning that falconers can only use captive bred birds (birds born in captivity). As they grow, they will rely on humans, and therefore releasing them in nature would kill them, especially because they lost their natural fear of humans.
another example. An imprinted bird of prey can NEVER be released back to the wild. An imprinted bird doesn't know how to hunt, and the only way to keep it alive is to keep it in captivity. Otherwise, it would die in the wild. Same goes for pet dogs, pet cats, other birds, and such.
but, I completely agree. *Wild animals should NEVER be put in captivity, unless if it is to save their lives or species frome extinction (see wildlife rehab centerers).* And those who are in captivity, must NEVER be kept 24/7 in cages.
Quitting cruelty? Yes, they deserve quality habitats to live in. Quitting all types of caged animals? No. Preservation is a thing and a big thing that Zoo are intending to do is making sure that the species can continue to live on. Without our protection some species will die. Any type of Rhino being a prime example. Orca's shouldn't live in small basins like that, it's cruel. And Seaworld should be sued for the abuse that they are doing against those animals. Anybody that wants to become a "killer whale trainer" deserves to be put into the looney bin.
Say you had a dog. It stays in your yard. Is it caged? I guess so. I guess your dog is suffering. Then you play with it. But people line up and say false things like that your torturing it. How would you feel? Welcome to SeaWorld's life.
Well it’s their job to make everything seem fine even if he wasn’t, and to be honest, everything was mostly fine. Just imagine from their point of view, if they say that these whales are going crazy then people are gonna start freaking out and humans usually start running away from big problems so most likely people will start running, well whales can detect nerves and anxiety so they start to panic and then it become havoc and also those whales have a huge Boyd of water, many people think that it’s just that body of water in front of them and that behind section but there is a huge circular ring for them to go around and even some tunnels under places for them to roam around but people label sea world for trapping them, if they let them into the ocean then I would give them a month to live because they’ve been trained and feed, they don’t feed themselves, their trainers do. So yeah
@@LegenderioOfficialChannel they don’t have to be in captivity in the first place they are only there for our entertainment and it doesn’t matter how much space they give them it’s nothing compared to the ocean
*Science has shown that the greater whale species and the dolphins have highly evolved* brains. *It is just that theirs evolved differently from ours. We evolved a complex neo-cortex.* *They evolved complex neural pathways from the hypothalamus and amygdala. In short, we evolved to think and they evolved to feel.*
You can see how the whales are stressed by being in this pretty small enclosure for the number of orcas in it. They are charging at eachother, probably out of frustration. Now at the end of the clip it looks like the two females are waiting to get fed, but no. Orcas were being underfed and mistreated in Seaworld. One thing to also note is that in order to get animals they had "kidnapped" baby whales from their social groups.
@@高宇中 could you imagine being separated from your family and literally STOLEN. In fact that the male family members purposely trick people away from the babys. Fucking disgusting and i am sure it is illegal
The orcas tell you that lmao?

They also can decide not to take a next breath. For some of the whale groups breathing is voluntary which means that it is under their control and to keep breathing they need to decide to take a breath. It is essentially a suicide when a whale in these tanks decides not to take a next breath. It has been recorded as the cause of death in many occasions.

"...kept in the wild." Well, we do NOT KEEP wild animals on this planet. They are trying to co-exist with us on it. We are just being very bad neighbours.

Anyway, I agree 😊 The right place for Orcas is to roam wild in the planets vast oceans!!! 🐋🌊
No Way?! You really "strongly believe" that?!

Killer whales
That's what solitary confinement is for.
I don't like how at first a long time ago they would capture orcas from the wild and bring them here for entertainment. Tilikum, a male orca who was in seaworld orlando from the late 90's or early 2000's to 2018 was taken from the wild when he was just 2 years old and in his time at sea world, he attacked and killed 3 trainers (r.i.p dawn). but now most orcas are born at seaworld so they dont think anything of it. i am fine with that. but capturing orcas? no.
Because money. I'd chase the bag tbh. Yes I'm a selfish and greedy
I know they're tired of doing this everyday

I went to SeaWorld last night.( 03/04/23 ) This same exact thing just happened. Only the whales become much more aggressive then this. It looked as if they were trying to break or kill whatever they could. They canceled the show and asked everyone to leave pretty much immediately.

It's not nutrients. It's being on the surface so much. I'm sure they feed thier money machines plenty of nutrients.

They’re just such beautiful creatures I hope there comes a day when they’re no longer kept in captivity
That day has already came .Once these ones die they are not allowed to be replaced same for every where else

There's a tutorial movie about that out there somewhere.
Plus the fact that they are unhealthy and unhappy and u can see that by the fins. They are supposed to b straight up
We are humans, what do you expect.
About the same reason why going to the zoo makes me sad. Just seeing the most domesticated version of the animal and it’s pathetic
Same, I went when I was a kid and I loved it, but little did I know what was going on behind the scenes. There is no humanity done with these shows. Not even the way they procure these orcas is done humanely.

Although there is a variety of theories about the curve on the Orca's fin, I found one which explains that Orca's bended fins are, in fact, a sign of depression and stress
Or disease? When tilikum had it everyone was told it was normal then he died of some sort of lung disease IIRC
It’s definitely not natural I think professionals agree on that
Actually the collapsed fin is caused most commonly by a change in the structure of the fins collagen.

Probably happens a lot so he’s used to it
he makes it look like everything is okay, when in fact nothing is okay with this; in nature the whale killers will not behave like this against each other, and if they do, they have the entire ocean to run from the danger, but because they are and they have been stuck there for their entire lives they cannot escape from the everyday injuries that the other killerwhales may cause them. So not only they are not free and with their family but also living a nightmare in a daily life basis - just for the entertainment of humans. Disgusting.

Pov: You're in a glass room being forced to preform a show as thousands of Orca Whales watch you
To be honest, I think it's much more entertaining to watch whales/dolphins etc in their natural habitat.
I know :(
For my 16th birthday me and my mom drove up to Seattle to go sea whales and the Tree houses masters headquarters.
It’s honestly quite sad to think about it.
Right?! Also...the reason their dorsal fins flop over in captive Orcas is due to them basically being out of shape & they don't have the muscle for it to stick up like normal. Really sad honestly.

What does it mean for their dorsal to be flopped over?
Machine à mouille if their fins are flopped over it means that they’re super unhealthy. Orcas are supposed to have strong fins like dolphins. If you imagine what a dolphin would look like with a floppy fin, it’s kind of sad. In the wild, orcas usually have very strong fins, but when they’re kept in captivity like this, they become weak and depressed, and their fins eventually start to flop.

I’d like to add that I do know sea world doesn’t capture wild orcas anymore (hence why I said “how sea world WAS getting killer whales”)
I learned they even breed them now.
Eh I’m still going to sea world they got some badass rollercoasters
Don't worry I will pray for them
Zoos seem to take better care of the animals than sea world but you’re right, animals should be able to live freely too. Though the zoos I’ve supported are those that rescue animals that can’t survive in the wild anymore. Like the Australia zoo is more like a sanctuary and they are always helping the animals recover so they can live in the wild. They also educate people about the different animals and how they are to be treated and live.
Thats what I love about the ripleys aquarium in Toronto. They only take animals that are injured

Spend your ticket money to go see them in the wild, folks. You're gonna see every single jump Sea World shows, and more.
Until we ALL quit calling cruelty to animals "entertainment", caged animals of all types, will suffer. 💔
*Wild animals should NEVER be put in captivity, unless if it is to save their lives or species frome extinction (see wildlife rehab centerers).*
And those who are in captivity, must NEVER be kept 24/7 in cages.
Shut every “show” around the world down. Give these beasts their water filled world that we share.
the way that trainer tried to act like everything was fine..the orca wasnt just like, "meh i dont wanna do this show" no..
One thing to also note is that in order to get animals they had "kidnapped" baby whales from their social groups.
There was so much wrong with what you just said that I don’t even know where to start
@@DgardsGaming I would like to know, what was wrong about his statement? I hardly know anything about this type of stuff.
@@DgardsGaming agreed
Still though looks likes a fun park
Seawold need to be shut down. Animal cruelty to the max.
Life in prison can be frustrating.
GJS Computer Stuff Especially when you haven’t done anything, and you’re just there for people’s sick form of entertainment.
Especially if you didn't do anything or were born into prison 🙂
@@高宇中 could you imagine being separated from your family and literally STOLEN. In fact that the male family members purposely trick people away from the babys. Fucking disgusting and i am sure it is illegal
Did you know that aggression against humans only appears when orcas are in captivity
