This is so true. When you watch the show I’m in awe of how talented these magnificent creatures of The FATHER CREATOR are, but when I think about they are trapped as an Slave without freedom to be their intended to be and live, it then becomes very sad. They should be free in the ocean!
I understand that people love to see them. They are powerful, intelligent, beautiful and majestic. You immediately fall in love with them. But you don’t see what happens after the show…Orcas are not made for living in these small pools!! They are born for living in the biggest oceans on earth.

If your stuck in a small pool and the only way to get food is to do tricks for the trainers, they r going to do tricks. They r doing it just for the food they have no other option.
There IS no "dark side of captivity" regarding ANIMALS. Stop anthropomorphizing animals! Even the more intelligent mammals (like chimps, orangutans, dolphins, orcas, etc.) do not plan out and pursue careers, accumulate cultural knowledge and transmit it to future generations, carry out any long-term projects, etc.. They all lack the uniquely human characteristic of the CONCEPTUAL level of cognition (which involves a sophisticated level of mental abstraction and integration of perceptual impressions). They are not people! ...These mammals live in annual cycles of hunting and eating, migrating, mating, rinse-and-repeat, year-in and year-out. In captivity, they are relieved of the burden of satisfying one powerful need: the pursuit of food. Their intelligence (which they'd normally use in coordinated hunting and capturing of food) is used in learning the tricks that their trainers teach them and interacting with their human handlers in other ways. ...And, why is it that you "free the orcas!" types always omit to recall that there WAS the freeing of a captive orca: the 'Free Willy' orca, Keiko? He was a big story back in the late '90s and early 2000s. Now, he is largely forgotten. Keiko was successfully taught (by his rehabilitators) how to hunt for his food. What he wouldn't do was integrate into a pod of orcas (which would have made his survival better, since they often coordinate to hunt for their food). ...The scientists who rehabilitated Keiko KNEW that he could survive and hunt enough food, because he was of sufficient weight after his journey from Iceland (where he was freed) to Norway, where they found him hanging around the fishing village in a Norwegian fjiord. He was able to eat enough on his ocean journey. However, he was back among humans within a couple of months of being "freed". He preferred human companionship over joining any pod of wild orcas. And, that's all that would happen if you were to free THESE orcas. (They'd just come into harbors and hang around with humans. ...They would actually be safer in those tanks in random harbors.)
@@MrJm323 Dark side of captivity, i mean that depression, anger which very intelligent mammals have .. so like orcas. @user-gu3hy7it2b I know that the trainers do care for the whales deeply, but the whales do not simply perform because they are altruistic or eager to please humans. They are not like dogs. They listen simply because they have to in order to be fed. If they were happy in captivity, they wouldn't be dying decades too young due to stress related illnesses or have significantly raised rates of depression. Nothing about the way that orcas are forced to live in captivity is natural
@@ХаваКаргина trust me they do not like it. They are in captivity and we’re taken away from their mothers at birth. Sometimes they’re even kept hungry.
It's not even that. Because they won't explore even 99% of that water during their lifetime. The cruel part is that they mostly swim very deep in the ocean yet here they are confined to relatively shallow pools.
I know they don’t belong in captivity but watching this show so many years later it feels so magical, like walking into Disney world. Brought a tear to my eye. They are magnificent and I’m so glad we have this video. I now would love these orcas to live out their lives in the best way possible, wherever that may be (sea pen).
This is almost exactly how I felt! They are truly just such magical creatures but it's the fact that they're so majestic that they should have never been put into captivity in the first place. It's just so sad that the very best they could hope for is still a pen.

Very nice video! We love SeaWorld! Just visited SeaWorld, Orlando, Florida and watched Killer whales, sea lions and dolphin shows! Thank you for you video!
At least 170 orcas have died in captivity, not including 30 miscarried or still-born calves. SeaWorld holds 19 orcas in its three parks in the United States. At least forty-three orcas have died at SeaWorld.
This breaks my heart. This isn't entertainment. This is exploitation and complete disregard and lack of respect for these Orcas. I have seen Orcas in the wild and they are beautiful and amazing which makes shows like this even more cringeworthy. Wish they would permanently shut down places like this.
i dont see the whale complaining lol but in all seriousness its like having a dog dude if u treat it right they cool with u and as u can see and as far as i can see they cool with it lol
Idk much about this show, but most of the shows fund many scientific research that’s essential for the conservation of these animals.... and some animals are rescued animals or not ready for their natural habitat due to various reasons, these shows are essential to keep these organizations running.....
Orcas raised by human can’t go into the wild anymore. They would die from hunger or storm or some cause. They may look the same but they aren’t like their wild counterparts. They can’t really survive the harsh environment while finding for food. Idk how they feel about living inside the pool, but they look very happy with their trainers. They’re like family and friends to them. Many things can cause anxiety to them. I just hope they won’t be forced out to live by themselves and die off.
Thank you for this balanced take. People fail to realize living in the wild comes with significant risks. There are pros and cons on each side, and we need to consider what is ideal for each animal, not what makes us feel better.
Why we humans are so greedy? Why we can’t let other species live in their own way? No other species come to force us to entertain them. Can’t we make money without spoiling other’s life? Sea world isn’t good- but the trainers ARENT abusive. They love the animals with all they got. And if the orcas don’t do these shows they simply don’t get enough exercise in their small tanks
Have to agree with you there. The trainers try everything they can to keep the orca's healthy and they take care of them with everything they've got. It's Seaworld who's got control of these animals and they aren't treating them right. The trainer's aren't the problem.
Also, people don't even realise that a lot of the behaviours they do in the show are things they do in nature as well. The number of people who have extremely strong opinions on orca captivity while not knowing much about them at all is ridiculous.

I remember as a kid going to SeaWorld Orlando & wanting to work with the animals. I'm a photographer at SeaWorld's Discovery Cove resort now & I get to be in the water with our dolphins almost every day. 1 step closer to achieving my goal (wildlife rescue). Federal law states that any animal born in captivity must remain in human care. Wild animals that are rescued must be quarantined during their rehab. After rehab they must be evaluated by NOAA upon release.

If you release those Orcas into the wild, many of whom have been in captivity since birth, would have no earthly idea what to do in the wild, how to hunt, etc. Furthermore, the males suffer from collapsed dorsal fins and are integral to a Orca's survival in the wild. They would be as useful as your dog in the wild. What a shame though

He saw Whales but didn’t want anything to do with them, he followed boats, showing up in peoples beachfront backyards. I’m sure he kind of felt confused and abandoned. He couldn’t find food so a lot of people won’t tell you this but this is what really happened he died of starvation, loneliness, pneumonia. After 25 years in captivity he was used to the love of humans, being fed by humans, his body also adapted to the chlorinated pool, Which was a different temperature than Iceland and I’m sure that’s why he got sick he died 4 months after being “freed” So people need to chill out with releasing the Orcas, the violent ones Are the ones that would probably have to go to a sea pen by the ocean but that’s even risky. There Phasing out orcas and sea world and there is no more breeding so this will be the last of its kind and now I would say maybe 30 or 40 years from now sea world would be shut down because people come to see the killer whales. They hear the music and never miss a beat, One of the trainers said they picked up all the training in less than a month, as a human I couldn’t learn all that in a year LOL
They need more practice and confidence. Something very difficult to get at Seaworld. For everyone's safety, it is best that they do not return to the water.

Orcas killed 3 people. This means that he should not be in a park, he should be in his natural environment
Incredible presentation with so emotions and that dark side of captivity.
So its dark side of captivity because they are more often in that wrong mind state and they can kill you easily. No word about setting them free" from my side. We should avoid to catch these mammals in terms of joy and earning money.

@@mikawerewolf8223 i think you need to understand how these beautiful creatures got here in the first place. go and check out this link: www.dolphinproject.com/resources/about-dolphins/
and click captivity, have you heard about what thy did to tillkum no so you don't know them at all so yeah keep your facts right and go check out the movie Blackfish there is evidence that the shows of what they are doing is harming both mentally and physically to the whales wellbeing.

Yes 🙌
I'm sad watching this video. Orcas should be in the wild living their lives.
I'm like amaya and ulises jump together
Yes. But in the ocean they would have a lot of percentage that they could die at least they take care of them
@@kyatd.s.3503 They don’t take care of them, and also, Orcas are apex predators meaning they literally have no threats besides humans. They have a MUCH higher chance of dying in captivity, and they have much shorter lives. Orcas have a similar life span to humans, but in captivity, they live about TEN YEARS. TEN.
@@kyatd.s.3503 dude stfu and stop spreading bullshit, if you knew anything orcas are apex predators
@@young23D dude this orca is in this zoo for years, they don't know how to survive wild ocean, and orca is living with packs, this orca's doest know how to socialize with other orca in the wild
I was lucky enough go to this exact show as a kid with my parents. I didn't know how cruel it was back then, but the memory of seeing an orca live doing tricks is great.
Daran ist nichts toll, diese Tiere gehören in Freiheit und nicht mit fremden ihrer Artgenossen eingesperrt. Sie können teils nicht untereinander kommunizieren aufgrund der Dialekte und Sprachen.
At 04:12 you can see that the trainer had reason to bring distance between him and the whale as fast as possible. Maybe the whale did his trick without clear sign from the trainer or did it at a different place. No good sign to me that the trainer is kinda afraid. But yeah having such a lonely predator kept in captivity can be dangerous.
Agreed, but are you sure that wasn't part of the act?
@@piersonchristensen8836 yea it was completely part of the act!! (someone who knows the trainers and has been going there for over 10 years)
We loved seeing Shamu at the Believe show years back. We all loved it!
Shamu didn't
It was magnificent, wasn't it? ❤❤
Orcas don’t belong in captivity. I’ll keep saying it till people believe me
I wonder how the Orcas actually respond to the loud music???
Does someone remember the Free Willy Movie? Willy was very sad when he was emprisioned in such a pool - he missed his family and the ocean. The real happy end was when Willy was finally liberated. In this video, stupid monkeys watch sad Willies doing things they were trained for. Good for Sea World is that Willies always look happy - no matter whether they are emprisioned or not...
His real name was kieko he lived out his final days where he should had been decades ago.

They are amazingly intelligent and powerful! The show was fascinating for sure.. but, they would probably much rather be with their pod somewhere in the big wide open ocean.

These majestic Orcas are incredibly intelligent. But captivity in small pools is certainly a cruelty towards these free champions of open oceans.
A Barbatana Para baixo Significa Que e a orca nao esta bem pq ou se apresenta bem ou nao se alimentam 😪😪
Na verdade, significa que elas estão doentes, não estão felizes, e estao depressivas.
Fique sabendo q a orca matou a treinadora
@@irmaodoremix1218 Sim matou a treinadora.

Orcas well done by paus swimming?
Agreed. It’s fascinates me watching these shows. I went to sea world Orlando when I was like 15 and it amazed me how they can train these whales to do such amazing tricks and swim together .. they def are amazing animals
@@stacibabyyyx6268 I’ve been to Seaworld, it’s EXPENSIVE to make these huge pools for them. They have 24/7 Veterinary care. There are medical pools and there’s different pools all over the park for them that people don’t see. They keep them really active with the shows and they said that not every show is the same that they switch things up so the whales don’t get bored. I watched Seaworld behind the scenes Dawn was in it but the work and LOVE that goes into these Whales and dolphins it’s just through the roof. I went to Miami Seaquarium to see Lollita the killer whale she’s 54 years old and lives in the smallest tank in the world. She only does like a 10 minute show two times a day three times a week but it must be really depressing to be in a 30 foot pool. I’m sure you saw the movie free Willy. Due to peoples outrage they released him it was a $20 million project that failed, they let him loose in Iceland, he traveled 900 miles to find human companionship in Norway. But nothing was more magical than believe, They are so smart! They hear the music and never miss a beat, One of the trainers said they picked up all the training in less than a month, as a human I couldn’t learn all that in a year LOL
The greatest orca show. It’s a shame they don’t do them like this anymore, with the people in the water
the trainers were killed, they cant be in the water anymore. The animals are too unpredictable.
They need more practice and confidence. Something very difficult to get at Seaworld. For everyone's safety, it is best that they do not return to the water.
unless u want to see someone end up disembodied then lets not say that. The autopsy reports from the people who were killed by the orcas was absolutely gut wrenching. from scalped to body parts torn and guts everywhere its disturbing
I agree. It was a once in a lifetime show to see. I still feel like that little girl wanting to be a shamu trainer at the age of 6 in 2010 ❤️
@@LilyHollister
One trainer in 60 years is a very good record. More people die from dog bites EVERY year. Some, from their own dogs.
What's the song when girl is with the big whale
People acting like this is cruel they get good treatment and if they weren’t they wouldn’t do it and would fight they are very intelligent and love their trainers you need to understand that
I do think they did love their trainers and orcas can bond with humans like nearly any animal can. They also can get frustrated and this is where it becomes a problem. They are so smart but it does hurt to see that this was all we had to offer them.
It’s not @InformationalVideos fault the animals are not in their natural habitat don’t let your anger out on them
why does the orca have a crooked fin? I saw the show in 2016 in Tenerife Loro Park, where the orca also had a crooked fin? If they are the same orcas, perhaps they both have different names.
I don't like this at all the collapsed dorsal fins are terrifying they need an ocean not a pool
I saw one of the whales retirement shows or something and they has an amazing fireworks/laswr show over the bay. It was the best show ive ever seen and i was only 8yo lol😅. I feel bad now but am happy i experienced it, the song and show i watched was to the song "sailing by Christopher Cross" and the "i want to break freak" oart of the song hit, the whale jumped out of the water about 50 ft or so and the man was standing on his nose and did a perfect free dive with flips and a cleean splash as well. I was a child and it was the early 90s so awareness of the torture the animals go through wasnt as wwll kniwn as today.
Those creatures belong to the ocean. It's extremely sad to see them captured like that. :(

The whales have a WAY better life then a wrongful convicted prisoner in a 5 x 5 cell 23 hrs a day. Wouldn't you say?
@@Student____2025__1 I'd agree if that were true, but it's most certainly not. Seaworld in controversial for their care of the orcas

This is sad. Orcas are not meant to be in these tanks.
The movie BLACK FISH was one of the best eye openers.
2:07 imagine if a giant net appeared and trapped the poor animal from its large habitat and takin away from its family then put in a small tank were they are forced to do dumb tricks this is what seaworld does and humans say oh i think he/she is homesick nah whatever im gunna ride them like there mine then later oww im dying because of the whale i wonder why this is literally the reason why they are dying there is only 50,000 there getting more endangered
I know right and the ways they do it is so much worse they use explosive to separate an orca from their pod and hire whale killer to kill mom orcas in order to get their babies
I love these magnificent creatures of the sea 🐬
theyre so much happier in the sea though, its so sad how theyre trapped in captivity for most their lifes if not all :(
@@ashdenn06, I couldn't have agreed with you any more. Honestly.
OF THE SEA WHERE THEY SHOULD BE. FREEDOM. BIG OPEN OCEANS VS LITTLE POOLS
Seriously, just think about it for a minute and realize how harsh that is. It's not like you're keeping a hyperactive dog indoors. It's an animal that lives in the vastness of the ocean and moves around in a way that humans can't imagine, and an aquarium of that size is the human equivalent of being locked in a one-square-foot cell for the rest of your life.
They still should be in the ocean swimming without a worry in the wild. Then there came human greed.
The connection we felt as children was the actual despair and stress of the whales and their plea for help

You have to look at Natgeo Wild and not that, that's humans making money from that and people encourage it. He just wants to eat and be quiet in the oceans and not in front of the hundreds of children who encourage this practice and it is the same for the Zoo
Wonderful show of sea creatures.❤❤❤very entertaining show..
People should know, but they don't, that Blackfish was a PETA effort. That should raise eyebrows at the very least. It fooled me too.
I never saw Blackfish, but the moment I found out it was made by activists I despised it. Activists don't value truth.
This is the opposite of what is good for animals and for trainers. It was super dangerous and irresponsible. This is the opposite of what a killer whale wants to do. I went to a show before and liked the show without knowing what went into it but honestly I don´t think I would go to one again.
That’s ok but, I still want to go.
@@danielaperezacosta1940 Ya it would be hard to decline if my son wanted to look at the animals but we'd for sure have a conversation about how it's not good for the animals and I think I'd email the owners to say we visit the park for the rides :)

Stopping visiting the place is difficult for me, I love killer whales, they are my favorite marine animals, they are beautiful, and this place made me have great moments, it is the only place where I could see real killer whales and not in magazines...
I doubt that I can stop visiting even knowing what they do ...
@@danielaperezacosta1940 The thing that made me angry with the organization about that is they knowlingly put employees at risk. So it makes me not trust them to put the animals interest first. Some died and they continually blamed trainers and advocated for their right to include them in shows. We go on boat tours...that were whale watching tours. They are not super expensive. I think it was like twenty or thirty bucks...we did not see killer whales but we saw dolphins and I seem them at the beach sometimes but I understand what you are saying. We will still go to the zoo. You're right, we can't blame the workers for everything when they too are harmed by all of this. I have also seen dolphins, on the beach, they were beautiful, it was magical to see them jump out of the water next to a cargo boat, I could only see in the distance, but it was beautiful. I think a Zoo is better, at least they don't mistreat them and they have them for good reasons, but since what happened to that gorilla ... It will take me a while to be able to go again without fear of witnessing something like that.
they born to be in the open ocean not in a cage

Don't feel guilty. You know now. Pre blackfish seaworld did good at keeping everything hidden. If you see it past 2013/Blackfish, then that would be cause for guilt.
When i went to seaworld we were at the orca show and we sat in the soak zone and when the splash segment came on we barely got wet,EVEN THOUGH WE WERE IN THE SPLASH ZONE AREA.and then we went on shipwreck rapids and we got soaked on there and i was like:BOI.

Humans are so egoistic. It's a shame to keep this beautiful animals in jale for their whole lives just to give some ignorant humans some minutes of show. Just for money.
