Growing up in the AZ back in the day...Zapp and Roger was played constantly. I am so happy that I was here to be a part of his legacy as a listener. After Stevie...he was the one who took the talkbox to the next level. I thank him and his entire family for it. I will always appriciate what he has given to the urban music scene since the early 80's. Thank you Mr. Troutman for being a part of my childhood and opening my eyes and ears to new sounds of music. I will always love and respect u 4-ever!
I use to listen to him back in the day. My heart goes out to his family. I did not know he died. I was watching unsung on cable. All I can say, what a talented young man, and he was gone too, too soon. But know this, his song will live ever. What a fitting song to pay tribute to him! May God bless his fans around the world.
the first time i heard this track i cried like a baby. i thought it was roger and he had got saved before his death. about a year later i found out it was his nephew rufus. his cd "no compromise" is off the chain!!
I'm glad to have grown up in a time when Roger was doing his thing . A true speacial breed , and brand of music that will never be duplicated . Rest in Peace Brother . Much Love From Canada .
A musical genius was shot 9 years ago today. Though Roger isn't here, his music makes him immortal. From the low riders in Long Beach, to a little Jewish kid from orange county. Rogers music will never die.
There's no way possible that you could have grown up in the 70's and 80's without hearing the heavy Bass Guitar, Bass Drum, and Bass Voice bumping all together at once. Not to mention once you heard the voice box (which we always waited for), it was then, and only then, you were listening to Zapp ft. Roger Troutman. I once had the privilage of watching you at a concert when you performed in Okinawa Japan back in 95' along with Shirley Murdock. THANK YOU.
PRAISE GOD!!!! What A powerful, soulful song. Im so moved by it ,im in tears. We do have so much to thank him for. Roger was A show stopper and so is this song.
That's a very emotional song. Roger Troutman is still in our hearts. His songs brought joy to each and everyone of us. Till this Day people are still influenced by his innovative style. I just found out this year that he's no longer with us. I'm surprised it happened a few years back. I find it hard to believe. Thanks for the song Rufus. God Bless Roger

I gotta side with you on this one. I may not be much older than Bow Wow, but I know the true quality of music & this is it. Yea, true enough, Bow Wow & everyone else can rap & sing about rims, ass, sex & everything else, but the truth of the matter is that music ain't what it used to be. I can say that because I was brought up & raised with the same music my parents did & I thank them for it. The new rising artists need to be schooled for real.
BOW WOW don't have a clue and someone needs to give it to em' starting with me. Yeah he might be the shit to the 12 and under age group, but recognize yo roots lil bro. Mad talent has come out of OHIO bra, and it didn't start, and won't end with you. OK let me school ya BOW WOW, what about, LAKESIDE, OHIO PLAYERS, ISLEY BROS., SUN, DAYTON, HEATWAVE, SLAVE, ROGER/ZAPP, NEW HORIZON, and that's just to name a few. To me, you can't compare to none of these guys. You can only learn from em'. RECOGNIZ
